Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL/WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  4. Disappointed this week so no shopping for me!
Factory Pleated Button back arrived and I love the top but the azalea is TERRIBLE. like 1980 neon pink socks!
THe dot boatneck blouse is pretty but they did a poor job of construction using 2 different bolts for separation and looks cheap.
Brilliant blue turtleneck not so great!
Understand factory uses poorer quality materials but does it also have to be poor color too!!

  5. Don't think I'll go, if new arrivals don't arrive until Monday (anyone know when they should be in most stores?).

  6. I will go to poke around in the sale section but that's about it.

BTW, is anyone else getting emails about your order shipping like a week after it has already arrived? This never happened to me before. And now it has with the last 2 orders I rec'd in the past 2 weeks. Very odd.

    1. Elaine, I had that experience with the new Factory site. I placed an order last Thursday and received the package Tuesday as well as an email that my order had shipped. I also noticed that my debit card had the charge pending for several days and then it totally disappeared for several more days and just reappeared today as clearing my account. I haven't placed any retail orders to compare.

      Delete
    2. Yes, that happened to me too. I was afraid they'd sent a duplicate order; hopefully not!

    3. Yes, it's happened to me on my past 2 orders.

      Delete
    4. Fear not. Our systems had a small error this past week with confirmation. All the orders were still shipping on time and correctly! You should not receive duplicate orders. However, if your orders were wait listed, that could be the email you are receiving.

    3. Thanks to ObsessedWshop's advice! I was able to get the sweater in my size! Yes, I kept calling WWFIFY and was sucessful after my 4th try. My VSP could not find it but called yesterday morning again. It was through direct order not the store. Maybe it was timing?

  9. I am heading to the U.S. for a business trip so I will be able to check things out in the B&Ms for a change. Nice that the new rollout will coincide with my visit, although the only thing I wanted was a Liberty shirt that I have already ordered shipped to my hotel. It's always good to see things IRL but if it's like my last visit I will come back with a bunch of stuff for my husband and a couple of hair clips for me.

  11. I went last night. I got the Carbon/Pink polka dot Tippi for $41.99. It was still marked FP but I asked the girl to call for a price check after she could not find it listed on the iPad..the replacement for the red phone.

Pretty annoyed it was not mentioned about the Ballet Flats being on sale. Their loss, I probably would have bought a pair had I known.

Honestly.. the colors have been horrible as well as the prints. I honestly think everything is far too trendy at the moment and if I purchase I would not want to wear any of it next year because it would be so passe.

    just my 2 cents.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yes, going to make a return.

Pains me to say this, but I think I have to take a break from the crewlade. If I'm being honest with myself, I haven't loved most of the items ive purchased over the past few months. Think it's time to take a step back and see what else is out there. The most recent roll out made my decision easy.

Sorry for the dramatic post, but I've been JC-obsessed for so long, it is tough to do!!

  14. Gonna have to because the colors online and in the catalog are SO different than in real life. For example, the "neptune green" coat looks like a pretty pale blue on the model but the stock photo is a sickly mentos green.

Gosh, sometimes I wish the colors online and the catalog were available to purchase. It's like a different world. I am so sick of getting disappointed when I get my box or when I see things in the store. Then I start looking at other retailers for those colors.

How the h-e-double hockey sticks can one confidentally purchase something final sale that is not black, white, or navy? "Modern Red" is actually sort of orange. Tropical Lime is not pale green but instead chewing gum green. Those "neon" colors last season looked wearable onscreen but garish and awful IRL.

Maybe this belonged in the "vent" section. More accurate lighting please J.Crew!

  17. Picked up a turquoise gingham shirt for $24.99, the colorblocked sequin tank in navy/seafoam green for $29.99 and navy, black, and white favorite tanks for $9.99 each. Everything was then an additional 30% off.

  18. I was at the store yesterday but there was no signage about an additional 30% off. If there had been, I probably would have picked up the purple Blythe and polka-dot Nicky.

Then once you receive them you mail the other ones back. It's great if you aren't sure of your size. The ballerina pink is so pretty!

  22. Sigh,I won't be going. Like others have posted above, I think the Nov Style Guide has finally convinced me that I need a break from the crewlade. A serious break.

I'm disappointed in what the brand is right now, and the energy and $$$ required to keep up with it. I'm feeling like a fashion victim and I think I look like one, too ... JC styles are so redundant and memorable these days that I feel like I'm getting alot of "J. Crew outfit?" when I'm wearing them, and not in a good way.

I will enjoy the treasures in my closet from years past - I wore a Bella and Juliets today! - and hope for better times ahead.

    1. I agree. I certainly don't mean to toot my own horn, but all this crazy color/dots/patterns just seems overdone. Last night, I was out to dinner w/my family at a casual restaurant. I wore a blue sweater w/dark jeggings and black boots. I felt comfortable and it looked good (at least I thought it did - and granted it was a Tippi and the boots are JC from literally 6 years ago that I just keep getting cleaned up by the shoe maker every year & they look new - so I'm still sporting JC). But I ran into a friend who had on yellow pants and beige MacAlister's and a sweater w/some blue polka dot top peeking out -( mostly JC stuff as well). Normally, I think she dresses really cute, but it just looked way too overdone and not good, IMO. I know this is a silly comparison, but it's my real-life take on this current JC stuff vs. the old-school JC styling).

      Delete
    2. ITA too. I feel very fortunate to have found so many pieces during 2007-08, which in retrospect seems to have been J.Crew's peak (on everything except cashmere quality). So many smashing signature pieces (cascading ruffles Astrid, Library skirt), so many perfect "classic with a twist" items (Bella, Fiona, Juliet).

I love, love color, and I always have, but I agree that copying the JC styling has turned me into a fashion victim. The brights are no longer flattering and interesting; they are retina-searing, as another JCA posted.

I think I see one JC item in my near future (the camel plaid capris are calling my name), but where are the Bellas of yesteryear?

I also have trouble with the lower rise pants because I'm so long in the torso. City fit is not for me. The stovepipe pants hit me at a great spot. I like the fit, it's slim and the legs are straight down. Very flattering on me.

I tried a Paley last season in a camel color. Fit was good but the fabric was quite thin and I couldn't find a pair of underwear that didn't show under them. If they were lined it might have been better. I returned the Paleys.

  37. There weren't new cuts that I noticed in-store, but there were a few price adjustments. Visit the In-Store Price Guide and look for the most recent cuts with the date in red. I've had a headache for 2 days! As Leah mentioned, SF will be shipping out their sale. I guess that might be the case w/other stores, so if there's something you want this might be the weekend to buy it. Of course if some stores are shipping sale, that means we'll see the sale section quantity go up in a week or two.

    2. Liza - The Liberty shirt is $99.99 in-store. Someone mentioned $69.99, but it turned out to be their net price after the in-store addtl 30% that' going on right now. Thanks for asking. I thought I'd corrected the error on my post.

  38. Stopped by the Rockefeller Center store and picked up the Liberty Shirt in D'Anjou. The SA ringing me up got flustered and double entered the 30% off, which meant the shirt came out to about $50.

I also finally got the cashmere wine and pink polka dot crew neck sweater. I thought I wanted a size S, but ended up sizing down for a comfier look.

The in store price is not the same as online. I asked the SA to honor the online price. He looked up the sweater and in his system didn't see that the sweater was on sale (this was part of what precipitated the flustered double entering 30% off thing for the shirt). I then pulled out my iPhone and showed him the online price, which he finally honored. He gave me 30% off for that too (only entering it once this time).

I tried on the graphic black and white ankle jeans while there. They didn't have my size, so I went up a size. I like the jeans and would consider them on sale. Now that I know about this blog and all of you, I'm not sure I can ever consider anything not on sale again!

    6. I know others think it's on the short side, but it works perfect for me. I'm 5'7" and usually take a 0. It's a great work dress, and the fabric is substantial enough that it can function as an alternative to a skirt suit. Great with tights, too!

    7. I'm 5'3" and I've tried only the regular size Teddie. I usually wear a 4p or 2p. The size 0 had a nice hem length, but the waist and armholes were too long on me.

I haven't bothered to order a petite Teddie because petite dress hems have been obscenely short lately. Workwear? I think not!

  46. Thinking about purchasing the Martina's in either Calf Hair or Leopard. Can't decide between to two and also waiting for a 30% off promo on line . I keep flip flopping between which pair would fit the best in my wardrobe. I will generally be wearing them casually with Jeans or Mini's. Any advice would be appreciated!

    1. I have both (shh....). I got them both in-store and the shoes were marked $169 (leopard patent) and $159 (calf hair yesterday) and the 30% off promotion came on that. I think they are both awesome. If I was only getting one, I would get the leopard patent. I love that pattern (I have the Juliets in the same pattern) plus patent is less fragile than calf hair. I went with my larger size (up 1/2 size) and both are SO comfortable. I can tell you I am NOT one of those ladies who finds high heels "comfortable" and I used to think Juliets were a very high heel. These wedges are very comfortable, don't pinch my big toe joint, and their first outing, I wore them all day at a business meeting, walking to lunch, back to hotel, out to dinner afterwards, walking walking walking. Completely comfortable.

    2. Thanks, this will be my first pair and comfort is key. I think I am leaning toward the patent because I think it will go with a lot of my wardrobe...Cabernet Mini's, Jeans, Now I just need to wait for a promo...found a pair at a store, I don't live near any BM's but that would be final sale so I don't think I can risk it. Better to wait for a promo and get free shipping.

  49. Went to J. Crew Factory in Limerick PA, for early Christmas Shopping. Purchased a white and black colorblock Pencil skirt, and a cute black knit pullover to go with it. The black pullover has a little white bow knitted into the top of the pullover, completed the ensemble with a black and crystal stretchy bangle. Bought the outfit for one of daughter's Christmas gifts. It'll be a nice outfit for her to wear to work. Then drove to KOP mall and picked up purple Tippi sweater for 30% off and a white and black colorblock knit shirt that I got for 16.99$ Got peach ankle toothpick jeans for 29.99! Good J. Crew weekend!
