Sneak Peek: Madewell's Fall 2012 Collection

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Alice, who let us know that Madewell's Fall 2012 Collection is available to preview over at Madewell (click here to check out all 33 looks!)

Even though there are hints of J.Crew-esque items here and there, Madewell is definitely its own brand. First, I love the Flowersketch Peplum Top (in Look 24). Definitely can't wait for that piece! Second, what is up with Woolly Stripe Sweatshirt (in Look 27)?! It totally looks like a sweater Dr. Huxtable wore on the Cosby Show.

Also, Madewell is running a new sweepstakes to win a $1,500 shopping spree. This sweepstakes ends July 23, 2012. To enter, click HERE. For official rules, click here.

What are your thoughts on Madewell's upcoming Fall Collection? Do you like how they styled the pieces at their presentation?

  1. Never been to a Madewell store nor ordered from them. However, they did open a store here yesterday. It is about an hour away but I usually go that way once or twice a year so will check it out sometime....As far a fall clothing goes it is my least favorite fashion time of year as I prefer spring/summer.

  2. I don't have any issues with look 27; doesn't remind me of Mr. Cosby's sweaters...However, looks, 30, 31, and 32 are just plain awful IMO. But there is fashion for you!

  3. Last year Fall lookbook was more appealing to me, this one is a bit meh, I can't find a piece to get excited about. Love the colorblock silk boyshirt but I don't know if I would wear it.

  4. Hmmmm, let me just thumb through my lovely, medium sized, printed on sturdy cardstock, Fall 2012 Lookbook and see what I like...they sent these out last week.

I like the real life presentation from April a bit better than MW's site pictures but overall I think MW did a nice job, even if alot of the styling is not for me, and find more individual pieces to love than full outfits.

MW has recycled some boots & jackets from last season, which is ok with me since I discovered a pair of boots I wanted to try end of last season.

The paintstripe scarf item 13028 from fall preview is available now. I got this last week & I love it. It's even prettier in real life. It's also available in a pretty 'dahlia' color.

    1. Actually, I take it back, I would wear Look 22 minus the shoes, and Look 23 minus the hat. Also, I got the indigo ink ombré tee from Look 14. This is also very pretty irl, esp. if you like blues.

  5. Totally off topic, but I'm trying to find the lovely JCA that I met at the Rock the Shores concert last night. The phone number I gave was a land-line and I think you may have sent a text this am which I didn't get. I know we told our husbands that we could find each other on this blog, so let's reinforce how right we were. My e-mail's adamsjl@shaw.ca and my name is julie (not sure we introduced last night, but we may have and I've forgotten in my drunken haze...) Hope you enjoyed your stay in Victoria!

  6. Lots of things I'm loving here! I think right now I'm liking Madewell more than J. Crew. My favorite J. Crew period (because J. Crew has gone through a lot of different ones lately!) was 2010, and Madewell has the same deliciously worn, vintage vibe. I'm liking the floral-print tops in #13 and #24. The Silk Newsprint Pants in #5 look intriguing; I've been longing for some tweedy cropped, tapered pants but I don't know how these will work out since they're silk. (Maybe they're silk wool?) The Silk Boyshirts look tempting and might be nice to add to my collection of Blythes, but I don't think I've ever seen an XXS in their current ones so I don't know if they'll have my size. The sheep sweaters are hilarious and I think I might just want the one in #30. So adorkable!

  7. Lots of things to love about this lookbook. I might be biased since Fall is my favorite season for fashion. I'm eyeing the Sheepmeadow Sweater (Look#32), the mint colored Silk Boyshirt (Look #15) and the SIlk FlowerSketch Cutaway Skirt (Look #12). Hoping that the Striped Downtown Skirt (Look #14) comes in other colors as well.

@life as a cat: I agree with the silk boyshirts. I've never seen them in XXS, but the XS is doable if you don't mind the slouchy, blousy look.

  8. Edit: Never mind, it seems that the striped downtown skirt is part of the recent roll out. Unfortunately none of the colorways appeal to me. :(

  9. I like that trench coat as well as one of the scarves and a couple of tees. I don't buy that much from Madewell and I don't like their styling overall, but I have been very pleased with everything I have ever purchased from them.

  10. I love the different versions of the Chronicle Bag (leather, tote, embossed) and I think the Sheep Meadow Sweater in look #32 is adorable! It's nice to see all the neutral pattern mixing. Look #6 seems like a great fall work option. Like JustVisiting I'm happy they kept some pieces from last season. Also so happy that like J.Crew they make boots in extended calf!

  11. I like the greige ankle boots and wonder if the leopard downtown skirt is short. I really like Madewell's shoes and boots. They're opening a store right near my JC b&m. Excited to go in. Although Madewell for the most part skews way younger than me.

  12. I like quite a few things individually but it seems the looks can't be viewed on the iPad so I can zoom in really well.

  13. Hmmm... very college chic. Not really designed to appeal to a very wide age range imho.

  14. I like (and have seen some of the pieces already), but I am not always crazy about they way they are styled.

  15. i agree that the styling is hit (11,16,19) or miss (12,31), but overall there is just enough to get me excited (love the fedora colors, indigo pullover and skinny ankle cords) but not enough to make me worried for my wallet. perfect!
