  2. I received these Ann Taylor sandals today, in the neutral/pink combo:

    http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/product/product%3A275332/AT-FULL-PRICE-PROMO-STYLES/Dorian-Oxford-Kitten-Heel-Sandals/275332?colorExplode=false&skuId=10612149&catid=cata000020&productPageType=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor=5020

I LOVE these, and I am really hard to please, shoe-wise. I am mostly a flats girl, but this 2.5" heel is very very doable. I do think that AT shoes run 1/4 size big -- I am nearly always a size 8 everywhere else, and these 8s are a smidge long but I think the 7.5 would have been too tight for my wide toe box. However, the unusual design of this shoe, with the little thong thing (do not know what to call this!) keeps the foot from sliding around too much.

I like this better than any of the mid heels at JC right now, even the valentina slingbacks, which are a little too pointy to be comfortable for me. Usually AT shoes are pretty basic, but these are very unique in color combo and design. I got mine with a 40%-off-full-priced-items-if-you-buy-three-or-more (whew!) promo, but right now they are running a 40% off any one full price item.

    2. Thanks for the review! I had just ordered these with the 40% off one item offer, and was wondering about the size, etc.! I thought they looked really cute as well, and 2.5" is about the most heel I can wear! Glad to hear they worked out well for you!

    3. I ordered those same sandals and they arrived yesterday. It is such a cute shoe but I think I have to return mine because the thong was way too hard and hurt the part in between my toe. I'm glad they worked for you!

  3. I received an email from Club Monaco that says that they are FINALLY going online. I never buy from them but I know that there are fans of the line in this blog and the possibility to buy online is surely going to help.

In other news Talbots is offering 25% off and free shipping on new arrivals.

  5. This Ann Taylor dress is unbelievably flattering. See it reviewed here.

I'm 5'6" and a size 4 in most J Crew skirts. I bought a S Tall and it fits nicely and hits just below my knee. Unbelievably slimming.

  7. Boden is offering 25% off all women's dresses and up to 25% off women's swimwear until March 19. To get free shipping and returns with this, enter the code W23B.

For those of you who haven't tried Boden, their sizes are slightly different than JC, so be sure to check out the measurements. Boden very helpfully provides both garment and body measurements for each item on its web site.

  8. If you live in San Francisco, you might be familiar with Betabrand. They've started making women's clothes and their "Polka-Dot Mission Shirt" is very JCrew-like (as are their dresses/skirts).

  9. Did you guys see that jezebel. com profiled Gwyneth Paltrow as the new face for Lindex, which I guess is in Europe? She is with their "Modern Preppy" campaign. Looks like it could give J. Crew a run for it's money across the pond:

  10. Banana Republic has some items in jewelry that are J.Crew-esque:

    Island Mosaic Braclet

Flower brooch cuff - I think Gigi has already pointed this one out

    Island stud earring

They're offering 25% off your purchase with promo code: BRSPRING

  11. I die for J.Crew but, of course, I love shopping in general. Being new to Seattle, WA from North Carolina, I got my first taste of Club Monaco which doesn't have an online store....yet (apparently they are getting one this month?). Anywho, I absolutely love love love their clothes! They remind me of a ....perhaps more youthful J.Crew. Their pieces are absolutely quality, classy, and stylish wish a lot of smalls details a la' J.Crew. Also, they give a 20% discount with a student I.D. (I'm keeping my student I.D. till the end of time lol...hey! I'm a lifetime learner! You probably will need that extra discount because their prices are a little high than J.Crew on some things but I love their stuff so much I'll spluge. I highly recommend to check them out! <3

  12. Checked out some new items at Talbots today. Found an alternative to the J.Crew Eyelet Blazer: comes in petites, super cute and cheaper! I ordered one in black. Have to admit the other color choices were not my thing (bright avocado, white, khaki). Also ordered a lightweight colored jeans jacket. I find that I actually need to order up one size in Talbots jackets from my usual J.Crew or Ann Taylor size.

  13. Forgot to mention that the name of the Talbots jacket is the Floral Eyelet Jacket and sell for $149.

  14. Talbots has changed their sizing. I have had to size up this season in every top or jacket I have bought vs the past 2 years. SE Mom you are right. I recently bought a black lace jacket there it was 189 but I had 40 percent off and a gift card so is a good deal.

    1. Oh, thanks for the heads-up. I'll have to try on some of this season's new pieces at Talbots. In the past I have often been sized out (0 at JC and 0/2 at Anthro, the Talbots 2 petite often runs boxy).

  15. Slightly off-topic but does anyone know how sizing and quality of Talbots' double-faced wool pencil skirt compare to J. Crew? The final sale price is really tempting and it comes in so many colors!

    1. I took the same size in the double faced wool pencil as the J. Crew double serge. The fit at Talbots seems to be slightly larger than J.Crew but for me, it was not enough to go down a size comfortably.

  16. Talbots has a Liberty print skirt. MUCH more reasonable than J.Crew...$89-25% off right now.
