Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the WINTER sale, or to see some new WINTER/SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Went today to my paltry B&M store. Won't be making the trip unless there's a % off new arrivals.

  2. I have posted some new pictures from the next rollout on my blog Here

  3. EXTRA 30% OFF FINAL SALE ITEMS WITH CODE LOVEIT.

Finally, they gave us an online promo!

  4. Will not be going since I just pounced on the LOVEIT 30% off code. Finally got the tipped hacking jacket. Too bad the code it is not on all merch, sigh.

Looking forward to hearing/ seeing the reviews from everyone!

  5. Got everything that I wanted on the last % off code, but if anyone wanted the boy shirt in heart throb, it's sold out in every size but a 4. Sigh. It wasn't meant to be.

  6. Just noticed the online Factory now has models wearing some of the items. Kind of nice to see the items on a person....

  7. @MegCrew
Yeah, it's great to see them using this model from the past, but did you see the mannequins? It looks like they're using the full body mannequins on the website. They make me shudder. There is something unsettling about them. There is one on the JCrew site, & several on the JC Factory site.
    I don't like them!

  8. Not likely that I will visit, but would love to hear back from others.

I will try to get to Target this Sunday morning.

  9. I went to J Crew this week to RETURN my heart throb boy shirt, so there is a size 8 somewhere out there unless it's been repurchased already.

I loved the print, but I just knew I wouldn't wear it because it's silk. I lead a very casual lifestyle at the moment and do not need silk clothes.

Now if they made it in a nice cotton voile..........

  10. I don't think I'll be going to the store. I really like a number of the current items. I've never wished for a full price promo so hard. There wasn't one on my catalog, so hoping we all see one online soon!

If you're shopping the sale section, I've updated the links to irl pics.

  11. If anybody sees the neon rose Blythe (featured in Feb's Redbook on ways to wear a button-down), I'd love to hear what you think of the color. In the magazine it looks like a pretty & faily muted coral, but with neon in its name, I'm concerned it'll be an obnoxiously loud neon coral.

  12. This is a little OT, but I have become obsessed with the Bubble Necklace for some reason. Tried it on yesterday in store but $150? Not for something so out of my comfort zone that I might wear a handful of times at most.

Has anybody seen the "J.Crew Bubble Necklaces" on ebay for like 19.99-39.99? From Hong Kong/China. For that price I'm tempted, knowing they are probably fake or stolen. Do you think it's worth it to try one of those? If it turns green after 3 wearings I guess I wouldn't be that broken-hearted.

  13. D*ska: the heartthrob boyshirt is now available on net-a-porter in all sizes under 8. Hope that helps someone. :]

  14. If someone goes to a store, would you mind reporting whether the gimlet skirt in coaster stripe is on sale? It's on sale online, but only size 12 is available. Thanks!

  15. ruffles, there has been some discussion regarding fake bubble necklaces on ebay. Scroll down to the bottom of this post on Gigi's fabulously helpful blog to check out some links on the topic. Buyer beware.

    ReplyDelete
  16. ruffles, sorry, I just realized some of the links are to private blogs. To summarize, one person received a bubble necklace that was broken on arrival and really poor quality. Another person received one that was OK, although was evidently lesser-quality than the J.Crew version. I don't believe they were from the same ebay seller.

  17. Hi all - absolutely no sale section at Danbury CT store. I know it's a long shot but anyone see a pony skirt in medium either color??? Michelledstanton@gmail.com

  18. I'm wondering if the heart throb shirt is practically sold out because everyone wants to wear it for Valentine's Day.

It's still in stores though, right?

I'll see if can make some time to visit one this weekend, but if there's no promo for FP items, what's the point?

  19. ruffles, the following link is to a blog where you can find the steps to make your own bubble necklace, if you're so inclined.

  20. Heart Throb shirt (seen in NYC)

I was in the Madison Avenue / 45th Street store in NYC the other day and they still had a rack of these shirts.

    HTH!

It is so pretty, but I have almost no use for a silk shirt. Im also in the camp that wishes they made this in cotton.

  21. JustVisiting, I noticed the mannequins in the wedding section a few days ago and I was slightly horrified. Creepy! Not making me want to buy! Please get rid of them, J.Crew!!!

  22. Overall, all ppl not seeing any sale sections in their local stores? I'm thinking FS online got a bump after all the stores sent their sale merch back to Lynchburg...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Elaine, I called the local B&M this morning to ask about the Ashbury perfect shirt. Te SA told me the shirt is on sale in store but they don't really have a "sale section" anymore. Since the shirt is waitlisted until March in my size, I'm just going to pick it up at the store. At least this way I can try it on and make sure the size is right.

  24. xoxo and D*ska, thank you so so much for the info ... I missed those posts. I honestly haven't had great luck w J. Crew items on ebay, and I don't expect it to change now :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm confident that anyone who wanst the Throb Shirt will be able to get it...there are still lots in stores and you could do a WWFIFY. It will also likely be back online in all sizes soon enough - I find that new arrivals at JC frequently sell out completely very quickly only to come back shortly thereafter and eventually make it to the sale section (Cafe Capris in Wool Plaid, Buffalo Plaid Car Coat, etc. are some recent examples). Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Thanks shopalot. I actually had it in my cart and then it disappeared mid-checkout ... then I had to go back and re-add it and that's when it popped up as waitlisted. My guess is they will fulfill the backorders with store stock. Hmm.

  27. Lauren Phd, I saw the Gimlet skirts in the very small sale section at my b&m yesterday. I don't think they were doing a % off, but now that there's one online, maybe they'd match it.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Not planning a visit. I was in the store yesterday so got to see all the new arrivals. I had wanted to see the frog bracelet in person but they had already sold out of it.

  29. MegCrew: I love that model. :) She was pregnant about a year ago (or so, you know how retail timelines work--she modeled for the Boden Maternity line Spring 2011), and she looks amazing.

I love factory items, but it is really helpful to see the actual fit on a real body...so yay!

  30. As to sale sections in B&M: Emeryville had zero sale section and San Francisco has a tiny rack plus a few boxes of shoes in shoe dept. FYI, the Lula leopard flats in the walnut color are there, $69.99 in size 8 (2 pairs). I just bought a pair a few weeks ago on a % off sale week. I didn't see any sign for 30% off sale now.

  31. Well, I visited tonight. I walked out with the Flare jacket. I tried to pass. It's cute on. I've been wanting a jacket that is casual but dressy without being a blazer for sometime now. Years ago I mistakenly got rid of my Fiona jacket. Ebay sellers have the nerve to sell them for almost 2 to 3x the price i purchased. Anyway, the Flare jacket is lovely and makes a great replacement for Fiona. Other than that, nothing else jumped out at me.

The Gimlet skirt was there but in size 10 and 12 and not on sale. Earlier today my PS was able to order a 6 from another store and on sale. I don't get it.

I also checked out my FS in Park City: picked up the zebra tee for 30% off (not online) and the cute striped light blue maritime dress. This one was cuter than the one in the store. Just liked it more and I got a pair of the red ballet flats for 25%. Really cute for spring.

  32. My store had the ripplestitch sweater in stripe on sale for $59.99. Still $88 online.

  33. Hi ajc, I liked your blog and what you wrote about looking good in pictures. I can relate. I was in the prime of my life, young and carefree in the 80s and 90s so there are NO good pics of me..What horrible hair and the crazy Madonnaesc clothes. Oh the horror of it all!

  34. Thanks Shekster, so glad I am not alone! I think this is main reason I love this community. I always thought I am just crazy :)

  35. Went to the Danbury, CT store today. They never received the Heart Throb shirt, they don't think they will either. Too bad I wanted to try it on. I did walk out with a navy schoolboy blazer and an awesome navy/ivory polka dot popover shirt. It is not online. Ivory background/ navy dots, all cotton. Looked great with so many things. There was a small sale section/ mostly Ashbury prints in the dress and shirt.

    ReplyDelete
  36. no sale section at my B&M. I walked in and walked out 1 minute later. I'm not ready for spring and not in the mood to browse spring/summer collections yet.

  37. Oakbrook store today. Heartthrob shirt available in most sizes, though I frankly thought the 92% silk/ 8% spandex blend made the fabric feel a LOT like polyester. I passed for this reason, despite otherwise very much wanting the shirt. On the other hand, I picked up the fanfare tunic with 15% off student discount. HUGE fan, the cotton is really soft and silky, and paired with the right neutrals, this could go through different seasons. Runs big though -- I'm a 2 and got an XS and it's still roomy. If you want a more fitted look, definitely size down.

  38. Has anyone seen the schoolboy blazer in morse code or the cafe capris? Are they nice in person? Also interested in any thoughts on the neon rose colour in person. I am waiting to place an order as soon as there is a sale and these are on the top of my list so would love some reviews/thoughts!

  39. WMM
I tried the pants on and the fabric was very nice but the fit was off. My regular size seemed big and the next size down was small. Ema did a review of these on her blog (My closet,my baby ,and I)

    ReplyDelete
  40. WMM - As mini said, you can see the morse code capris on Ema.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Has anyone seen the navy Pocket pant in store? Im wondering about fabric and fit. Are they really thick and stiff? Thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. WMM, I'll echo the sizing on the morse code capris. And mention that the pair I tried on were already snagged. :( I like the look, but these were poorly executed. My guess is they go on sale soon.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks so much all! I don't know how I missed that review as I am a faithful follower of Ema! I think it may be just the jacket or not at all. Think I am now leaning towards a neon rose spring...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Went to the Cherry Creek Denver store today-- no sale items to speak of at all but...what can I say? I'm a sucker for a good t-shirt. So, I got a full price tee with French writing on it that means "Peace for Everyone..." Super cute and not anywhere on the website. Other than that, nothing really noteworthy. I'm probably going to give up shopping for Lent, so I kind of hope that stays true!

  45. I keep doing dumb things- I have a rewards card but didn't use it. ARGH! Am also a grad student and never remember to ask for a discount.

  46. Visited J.Crew this weekend to try on some new spring arrivals. I ended up purchasing a few items, including the heart throb blouse. Only once I got home I noticed tons of tiny picks and snags in the silk. Has anyone else noticed this or did I just get a bad shirt? I went to exchange it the next day and it is sold out with no wishlist being started from J.Crew so CS is trying to locate one instore, hopefully this one will arrive in better condition.

  47. @just visiting: your right the mannequin is a little creepy. But I at least we can see how short or long the dresses are....!

@dina I agree, she is one of my favorite models too, she is easier for me to identify with, she isn't a twig (still tiny) and looks....happy.

  48. I visited te Las Vegas store yesterday. No sale section, full of spring items and empty of customers. I didn't look around, our store is so small they don't carry much so I always just assume there isn't much to see.

    ReplyDelete
  49. @Meg - I went to the Las Vegas store day before and you're right it was business as usual. And by that, I mean no business at all. The store was devoid of customers, the staff was pretty good at avoiding eye contact, and the few new spring items that they had were conveniently not any of the items I was looking to trying on...

So, that is why I really appreciate all of the try-ons, photos, and reviews that everyone else posts!
