Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the FALL sale, or to see some new FALL/WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Anyone have a review of the perfect fit color block tee? TTS? I am larger-busted and I don't want a super tight tee, but I don't want to be swimming in it, either. TIA, JCAs! <3

    ReplyDelete
  2. Meghan - You can see that tee on ABC. She has a different figure but at least there are irl pics for you to gauge.

I might go by the store. Not sure. I figure most of the same things will be there, just picked over.

  3. I've got some returns to make, so I'll be going.

    ReplyDelete
  4. I need to pick up my hemmed flare jeans in black. I also need to NOT buy anything! I've ordered too much lately with all these promos!

    ReplyDelete
  5. JulieY- good luck- everytime I think I think I am going in to return or "just pay my bill" I seem to find something that I didn't see before and can't live without...!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I'm going to try to get there today or this weekend to make some returns.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Just a return for me. Must stay strong:)

    ReplyDelete
  8. No plans to head to a store. Online offered plenty of sale/promos to stock up, buy gifts etc. already! Last time I went in was to pick up the new catalog. Wasn't even tempted by anything in store. The new bright colored pants, etc. for the resort/winter travel items were pretty - but don't need them now!

  9. has anyone seen the cashmere scarf/hat/glove set in person this year? I should go check it out... is it 100% cashmere and are the bright colors too bright? pepto pink? I've never bought cashmere accessories from them before.

    happy weekend :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Probably not. Just eagerly anticipating the next promo - buy one get one free?

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have returns - only the trouser cords worked from my sale order out of 5 pairs of pants. Wildly different sizing

    ReplyDelete
  12. Marymoo, I agree with the sizing discrepancies between style of pants. I just ordered 3 pants this AM, and am curious to see what fits. I am surprised that this year's size0 are slightly big for me. What the heck?

    ReplyDelete
  13. I went yesterday & admired the colorful beaded/chain necklaces (not on website) that coordinate with the brightly colored clothes. Also looking forward to summer after seeing the chino shorts with colorful contrasting belts.

Gotta love the seasonal SA's. I returned a recently acquired 2009 popback & she offered to order it for me in a smaller size. :P

Madewell had button down shirts & scarves priced at $19.99, & some mohair (& other acrylic) sweaters significantly marked down. They also had some boots/shoes marked down but in limited quantities. So if an item is sold out on the web, it's worth a call to a store. I was able to finally look at & purchase the Railway Messenger bag.

  15. It seems that some new SALE items were added today. Over 1000 items at update time.

Nothing I had to have, thank goodness!

Posted some reviews of the Blythe Shirt Dress today.

Sorry about the multiple post deletes. Someone has butter fingers today!

  16. Popped in today, and they had a 25% off jewelry going on, and I was tempted by some very pretty new pieces that just arrived. Practiced restrait though. Saw a new Jules dress in a very vibrant abstract floral print!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Going in for returns - not so secretly hoping I'll find some unexpected goodies while I'm there.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Shopwithm-are the new jewelry pieces online? Any crystal involved (i'm fatigued of acrylic and metal)?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I will be going for returns of a man's jacket that felt like steel wool. Right now I am on Ebay with a hankering for J Crew crystal bracelets of past, since they are so lacking now. It's so hard to tell which are fakes. I know the $9.99 ones from China probably are, but do I care, as long as it looks the same? Any advice?

    ReplyDelete
  20. @Charlottesometimes: The 'china' fakes are lighter weight and the crystal colors are faded and dull. If you try one, make sure it can be returned. I tried one, but sent it back. I got a fake pearl clustre necklace (sold to me as authentic) and I filed a complaint on paypal disputes and they let me return it as well. Post what you'd like on the JCA looking to find post every Monday for someone who has real ones! Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Suzy, then maybe I won't attempt it, sounds like a pain. Part of what I love about J Crew crystals is the weight. But what about something like this, is this a fake? If so, can it be much different?

  22. I would love to know when they are bringing back the extra 30% off sale items in-store!!

  23. misybelle:

It sees like typically around the 15th when the holiday / winter and fall season clear out starts. We should see some great sales for the next month or so in stores and online. It is tiring....

    ReplyDelete
  24. Charlottesometimes -- I saw lots of tangerine/orange, mixed with gold/bling. A tangerine Bubble necklace. Oh, and my favorite was a peach long double-beaded necklace with a navy/crystal brooch-type thing attached. Reminded me of the double-stranded necklaces of years past!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Charlottesometimes What jacket for a man feels like steel wool? just curious so I stay away from that for my husband

    ReplyDelete
  26. Genny, lol, I swear it was about to cause a rash on my hands just from handling it. It's the Irvine jacket. Stay away! Unlike anything I've ever felt!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I stopped by the Yorkdale store today. The sale section is a little bit bigger than a few weeks ago, now there is a table of sweaters that are on sale. I tried on the minimalist mockneck sweater (solid and colourblock) but was disappointed. The fit was off - someone mentioned earlier that the mockneck looked and felt like the neck of a Star Trek costume, and I have to agree. I was glad waited to try it on in the store, rather than ordering it and having to send it back.

    ReplyDelete
  28. just adding to shopwithm's comments, the 25% off ALL full price jewelry in-store can be stacked with the 25% off $150, so I got the bubble necklace for about $85...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Arielle and Scout: I have not yet seen the cashmere scarf/hat/glove set this year, but I have a poppy hat from two years ago that I wear a ton and it looks perfectly brand new with no pilling whatsoever. However, I suspect the "new wash" they are advertising with the new cashmere is probably not a good thing and just a way of disguising a decrease in quality. In the online pictures it just looks lighter (or as they call it, "softer") but it doesn't look like it has the nice weight it used to.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Does anyone think that the Mona Glitter Pumps in Maraschino Cherry will pop back up in a 7.5? I waited a smidge too long and now they're nowhere to be found. :( I really was looking forward to clicking my heels on particularly rough days in the classroom.

  32. @CharlotteSometimes: Sorry, we were out for the evening after I wrote that! If it says from China - I say avoid it! I look for a seller that (by looking at their feedback of items sold) hasn't sold a million j c items.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Nothing for me. Unfortunately, I am bored with the items. I ordered what I really wanted with the last two promotions so I'm good until end of January (fingers crossed). And, Im in the process of moving and buying a house.

    Happy shopping to everyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anyone have thoughts on the Blackmoor Fair Isle sweater? I like the look of it but I wanted to know about fit and quality?

    Thanks so much!

  35. With two quick emails my PS scored me a sold out jacket and a great wool cardigan. She totally rocks.

The alpine goose down puffer is sold out on-line. She tracked one down in dark fatigue along with the wool cardigan in marled evergreen. I am so impressed with her speed and attention.

To top it all off I used the Christmas gift she sent me; $50 gift card. With the items being on sale, the promo PRESENTS and the gift card I saved a ton.

I know this belongs under the weekly 'love' section, but I was too exited to wait and posted it here.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Louise @ cosmetic bee: That was me that made the Star Trek comment! I think it really depends on who's wearing it, but I have a short and somewhat angled haircut and I really looked like I walked off the set of Star Trek when I tried that one on!

  37. Prices online are generally better (Hacking jackets, waffle zip cashmere sweater, etc.). The bracelets with elasticized strands of rhinestones were reduced to $15.

What are the odds of the Hacking jacket in tweed or the Moore blazer being reduced in the upcoming days? I loved the fact that the tweed was thinner. Any chance the price could be lower than it is with the 25% off?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hmm, I see my tweed jacket on eBay for $200, with a J. Crew label, but a handwritten size 4. Are these items from PaisleyPetunia legit and how does she come across them for so cheap?

    ReplyDelete
  39. Dissertante: As for Paisley Petunia: There is a factory store in Lynchburg. Lynchburg is where (at least in the southeast) most catalog orders are shipped from. It is where my personal shopper is as well. They also have those warehouse sales there...where everything is $5, $10, $15, $50 (Cashmere), $75 etc. Up to wedding dresses for $200.00 and up. They must buy up a ton of things at those sales. Just my guess/assumption.

  40. do you all think that the dream sweaters (i just got the dream open cardigan in the heather dusk color [it really is a lovely shade of gray]) and i am wondering if it will pill. It's 55% wool, 30% nylon (blegh, but what can i do) and 15% cashmere. what do you think? Itchiness probably isn't going to be a factor, since I was going to wear it with at least a 3-quarter length sleeve under.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Meghan: It will probably pill, speaking from experience with similar (although maybe not exact) blends.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi Rebekah--thanks for the tip! I bought it for 29.99; should I keep it? Thirty dollars is thirty dollars, right?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Hey Meghan, It depends what you bought it for. I have a few pilly dream sweaters that I still really enjoy because they are gorgeous colours and still so cozy to wear casually or around the house. I just don't wear them when I have to look a bit more cleaned up. This isn't terribly frequent so it suits me just fine, I'm still just wary of paying only for the quality that I am getting. $30 seems right to me if you love the colour :)

    ReplyDelete
  44. Caitlin, LOL re: the Star Trek comment! Especially true with the dark purple solid colour that I tried on. Too bad, as the knit was very nice. Have you had a chance to check out the store recently? I was in a rush (I had my kids in tow and they were reaching their limit for patience) so I didn't get to really look around too much besides looking at the sale section. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they will do a Boxing Day sale, even though J. Crew does not do Boxing Day sales (as it is a Canadian thing, not a U.S. thing)....I'm wondering whether it is worth trekking out to Yorkdale at dawn on Boxing Day.

  46. jcrew guy in Canada- I'm jealous of your "score" and also the fact that you are a guy and get to wear their men's wear. I prefer their men's line over their women;s, hands down!

  47. Lots of new and further markdowns in store. Here are some:

    - Flair skirt, $49.99, all colors
    - Eden cardigan, $49.99 all colors
    - Stadium Cloth Elements coat, $199
    - No. 6 Double Serge skirt, the older colors (vibrant flame, viridian green, the yellow), $79.99
    - no. 2 pencil skirt in glen plaid, $89.99 (this is SO CUTE! check out my blog later for a review)
    - no. 2 pencil skirt in midnight tweed, $79.99
    - blouson dress in royal paisley, $69.99 - great price for this, I bought this for +$20 more at Final Sale =(
    - Jumpseat cardigan $89.99
    - schoolboy blazer in tartan, $139.99

Both the Cafe Capri in wool check and wool plaid are also on sale but I am not sure about the prices, they may have been $99.99.

There were also a gazillion sweaters and tees on sale -- and more coats too -- but I don't really buy either anymore so I didn't check the prices.

For those of you holding out for 30% off instead of this 25% off, you should know that whenever they do a 30% additional sale in store, it is always FINAL SALE, whereas this promo is NOT. I think 25% with the possibility of return is a better deal.

  48. Hey pathos, thanks ..... I must agree with you about the mens line. It continues to be very strong. Who knows maybe Frank will get a chance to work on womens too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Dinster, which store has the viridian skirts left? Did they have smaller sizes?
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  50. I was at Tysons Galleria, and they only had one left, I can't remember what size, but it wasn't a 2 or a 4 or a 6, or else I would have grabbed it. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Has anyone in the Boston area seen the Heart Me sweaters in xs? There was an xxs online this morning but someone beat me to it! Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks Dinster. They had sent me a mislabeled size 4 back in October and I am still waiting for my re-ordered skirt. I can't believe they are already on sale in the stores and still back ordered online.

  53. travelled to my B&M yesterday and they had early SPRING out! Yes! lemon yellow, azure blue and pink. They had the skinny colored jean with the jackie cardi, striped shirts and striped tees. I also a beautiful blue and pink/red/orange floral blouse and dress. My SA told me their last roll out included shorts and early spring...for January! OH MY!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Jcrew Guy in Canada & Pathos, I too love the mens line. My eye is always drawn there. I love the prints and fabrics.

Sometimes I mix in some mens items into my wardrobe and I am always happy with them. I can find hardier fabrics in the mens section.

Jcrew Guy, I'm always glad you are around to give us the mens perspective.

  55. dinster- Thank you for your store report! I so rely on those because my store is so small. I hate missing out on the great deals or items just because my store carries only the basics. The red phone is a best friend of mine! Thank you again!

  60. To CharlotteSometimes and those looking for nice crystal jewelry, check out sabika-jewelry.com. It is a line of jewelry sold by home parties that originated in Pittsburgh by a local family. The quality is amazing and the jewelry is really unique, beautiful and well priced. All the crystal are Swarovski. It is worth checking out!

  61. Hey Jcrewlade, funny story about my PS, she's actually not working in a store, but at head office. Several years ago when J.Crew had the huge site issues and the website was a mess I had concerns with orders and such. I emailed Mickey telling him how much I liked J.Crew but had concerns over the 'upgrade'.

He connected me with someone who works at head office, I did work with some others from the 5th Ave. store, but no one works with me as well as she does. But she's not a PS actually but a customer service advocate.

Not too sure if I can connect you with her. Sorry.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Dissertante, I second what Suzy said. You'd be amazed at how cheap J.Crew sells things in their warehouse sales. I went to one over Thanksgiving... blazers were only $30, coats $50, Cashmere $30. I got several collection pieces that were NWT and had nothing wrong with them, and saw many samples as well. But anyway, Paisleypetunia's items are legit and the sample ones like the jacket you're looking at are probably from a sale though they do also sell samples in the clearance stores too (for much more money). Don't let the weird handwritten tags throw you off. Much of my J.Crew clothing has a big ugly sample tag attached to the inside, haha.

    ReplyDelete
  63. @ Ellen:

In my honest opinion (and no offense to anyone that likes this item!) the heart me sweaters are not that lovely. My store had a couple left, and I tried it on--meh. It is kind of scratchy and thin, and also short, and I don't have a long torso. For $88, there are other JC pieces I would rather own. I also don't want a big heart over my chest :P
