  1. Called the store to see if they still had the Kirtley Satchel I admired while there... Lucky me, they did, and got it for $104.99. I had it shipped to my friend's house, and shipping was waived. Pretty cool, I thought.

  2. My online personal shopper has gone above and beyond for me recently, and I just want to again urge all of the JCAs to work with one online and/or in store. They are so, so uber-helpful. Find someone you click with, and they will definitely help you out when needed.

Also, I love a lot of the new rollout pieces. It definitely feels more "classic with a twist" that they have been known for in the past, and the colors are gorgeous as usual.

  3. shopwithm, I love my online PS as well. She knows what I like and has made great recommendations for me. She's also helped me find quite a few things that were sold out or waitlisted online. She is never pushy and does not hesitate to help me with difficult returns either. It's a great service, so helpful to have it, especially when I can only get to a store once or twice a year.

  4. Rose, what a great score. I like the look of the bag, how is the leather? Does it look durable?

  7. Didn't see one new arrival that I was interested in, however, I am loving the new mixed tape cardigan colors! I added the cherry and dahlia colors on a recent order. I really love these cardigans; I have multiples of them. I find myself reaching for them quite a bit when dressing and they've held up well in the wash.

  8. I adore J. Crew's capri pants. They have a slim, narrow line and are well-made. I have received so many compliments on them. Now I have them in four colors (stone, sage, navy, black).

  9. shopwithm, forgive me for sounding so clueless, but how did you go about finding one special personal shopper? And do you have to spend a huge amount of money at J. Crew, very frequently, to warrant one? I am a big sale shopper, but I rarely buy anything there that is full price, so I assumed I shouldn't work with a PS.

  10. I went to visit the newly re-open JCrew store in SF which added Crewcuts and expdanded the women (it includes bridal) and men areas. Beautiful store, clean and bright with beautiful details. I can't wait to return and try on shoes there because they have a large selection.

  11. xoxo, I didn't get it yet, but from my recollection it is more durable than some of the bags I've seen at JC. I was close to getting the tote and using it as my computer bag. It is big enough and more stylish than the neoprene one I have right now.

  12. I called CS to let them know that after two wears, the waist band on my Merino Pleated Skirt (which I loved, btw...so soft) unraveled and separated from the skirt itself. This is actually the first time I've had a real quality issue w/ J.Crew besides an unraveling hem here and there (not an occurrence that is exclusive to J.Crew by any means). I spoke with a rep named Faith and asked if I could return the skirt and get a credit to my account. I still had the order number from when I purchased the skirt in late August, and Faith immediately issued the credit to my account, f/p + tax, telling me to just send the skirt back when I got the chance. She was so very helpful and polite, and I really appreciated the great service. I would have exchanged the skirt, but it was just kind of sour for me now after it came apart in my hands! My bf was impressed that they issued the credit without seeing the skirt, and I said, "I'm a very good customer and I rarely send anything back, so it's in their best interest to take care of a quality issue pretty quickly." My thanks to Faith!

  13. Whitney, the same thing happened to me with the merino pleated skirt! In my case, I tried it on at home twice and never wore it out. The second time I had settled on an outfit and was about to walk out the door when I realized my skirt was dangling off the waistband. I guess it's the case with all of them!

  15. Shout out to the Polaris store for scoring me the Elodie silk blouse in graffiti green I've been coveting for a mere $30. They never carried it in the store, but had the red phone service honor the 30% off (this was before the discount was online) the new low price of $39.99 PLUS they had them waive the shipping.

Now if I could only be so lucky with the Blythe blouse in extravagant green...

  16. Okay, so maybe the quality has declined a bit and the prices have been creeping up -- at least none of the fabric contents include Yak!

I was recently browsing through a catalogue of overpriced "shop at home" clothing that a family member is now selling, desperately looking for something remotely in my style. I finally found a sweater vest that was interesting...until I noticed that the fabric content included 8% yak.

    Not kidding.

  17. Leah -- Oh gosh, no, you do not have to spend a lot of money! Do not feel that way at all. I almost never buy anything full price -- it has to be very special. (And even then, it usually goes to sale and I do the return/re-buy). I do a million returns and they're still wonderful. My online PS kind of found me. I had an issue with something, and just sent a message generically to JC and she responded back to me. I didn't contact her again, but then I got one of the dreaded "we ran out" emails. A few hours later, the same PS contacted me, apologizing, and asking if she could do anything, to let her know. I then had another issue, and emailed her and she was super fast to respond, even on a weekend evening. So now she's my go-to for anything online. Anyone can contact a personal shopper, both online and in store, and they're always super helpful, especially once you've developed a bit of a rapport with them. This service is definitely one of the things I love about JC. Sorry, long-winded!

  18. I love the Cashmere Spray by the Laundress. $10 is alot for a small bottle but I sprayed the hell out of one of my jackets this morning and it barely made a dent in the bottle. It smells awesome, does a great job at refreshing cashmere and wool, and hopefully it will help keep the moths at bay. I keep my cashmere in my cedar chest anyway but those buggers are really persistent sometimes. I lost a few of my favorite J.Crew sweaters to moths last year :(

  19. @ Dara: Oh no, I'm sorry about your skirt! Makes me glad I opted not to replace it if others are going through the same experience.

  20. OT, but see Michelle Williams in J.Crew cashmere cardi and those plaid cafe capris, here. I just saw it on J.Crew's facebook page.

  21. Hey JCK, did you check out JC's Camel Cable sweater? It is made with yup, you guessed it, camel hair!

  22. I didn't see your reply until just now, shopwithm! Thanks so much for your kind response. :) This will encourage me to contact a PS in the future!
