J.Crew Email: What to tote today: the Bronwyn bag (plus, FREE SHIPPING)

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Irina, who shared the latest email from J.Crew this morning.

The email features the Bronwyn Hobo (Item 42142; $268.00) which J.Crew describes as:
This garment-washed, go-everywhere carryall is the ultimate summer travel companion. Crafted in beautifully battered leather for that lovably worn, well-traveled feel, it sports adjustable buckled straps and plenty of pockets (so it's always adventure ready). An interior front-wall patch pocket and a back-wall zip pocket keep pencils, cell phone and keys organized. Top-strap magnet closure. Dark pewter-finish hardware. Three exterior pockets. Cotton twill lining. Import. 8" handle drop. 15"H x 16 1/4"W x 2 3/4"D.
The Cognac version does look like a super cute bag for the Summer. The other two versions (Tuscan Olive & Black) are great for Fall.
J.Crew is reminding us that their offer for free shipping for on orders of $150+ with promo code SHIP150 expires Wednesday, May 18, 2011.

What are your thoughts on the Bronwyn Bag? Is this the kind of bag you would wear for Summer, Fall, or year round? Have you seen it in person? If so, please share! :)

  1. I'm thinking it's gorgeous but b-i-g. I'm not even that petite at 5'4", but I really do find that JC's hobos tend to overwhelm me and this one looks like same-old same-old in that respect. Sigh! :-(

  2. Very cute bag but I agree with JCAUNCMom - may be a bit big for me. I do love the leather and the dark pewter hardware - I'm considering the smaller Bronwyn pursette because I love a great cross-body. Can anyone comment on the pursette? TIA!

  4. I like the look of this bag but think the straps that buckle over the opening would be a hassle for me. I LOVE J. Crew's leather bags from last season. I like the look of the Edie purse but I am not a fan of red. That is what I LOVE about J. Crew, they always offer more than one color choice ! :)

  5. Shekster, the copy says the top strap has a magnetic closure so the buckles are likely just for show.

J.Crew has some lovely bags from time to time but some of them are indeed huge. I have a few fairly large bags already: gemini, oslo, uptown, bisbee and now campo thanks to the JCA Weekly Exchange. Even if I felt a need for another large bag I don't think this one would be it because it's rather plain IMO. The pursette looks like it could be good though, I'd love to hear comments on that one too.

  6. I would like it better if it weren't battered. And if it were smaller. And if it came in some nice Spring-y pale colors. :)

  7. oh thanks xoxo. I agree with Tamara that some spring colors would have been great.

  8. This is the first year I've paid attention to the bags. Did they ever come in the pretty pale colors like the shoes do? I realize that pale colored bags can get dirty easily, but they would look great.
