Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  3. Would love to hear a report on the new arrivals!

  4. I can't go this weekend, but will be looking forward to hearing reports on new arrivals from those who are able to go. :)

  5. I was in yesterday but couldn't really tell if there was anything new. There wasn't any of the new items from yesterday's online rollout - but maybe they'll be put out over the weekend?

    ReplyDelete
  6. I won't go this weekend (unless I am close to a store for another reason). New arrivals will be on the floor on Monday so you may want to wait.

  7. I will be going to Raleigh this weekend for a bridal shower and may try to stop by a j.crew in the area. Any of you in the area have a rec for the best location?

OT (sorry Alexis for putting this out there...feel free to delete if you deem inappropriate): I've gotten some emails re: my blog and for any readers out there who are wondering why it's all of a sudden gone...I had a very important piece of technology stolen from me at school yesterday. It has access to all kinds of things on there, and I decided to restrict access to my blog for a while until I feel comfortable that whoever has it isn't going to do anything. Hopefully I'll be up and running soon :)

  8. Tried on a few new arrivals - one being a dress that isn't online yet. Another was the maritime V-neck dress. Cute stripes but very unflattering on. The pockets land smack in the middle of your hips and pouf out. I love a dress with pockets but only when they fall in the right place!

  9. Appgal - southpoint is bigger and there's an anthropologie there too. Plus it is directly off I40 exit 276.

Not sure if there is much difference between that one and Crabtree

Sorry to read about your ipod

  10. Does anyone know if the Embroidered Art Tank is available in stores? I have an orange Banana Republic v-neck that I think it would look fantastic with.

  11. Nevermind, I just chatted with an online rep, and she said it was available in stores as well. So, that is what I will "Seek and Find" this weekend!

  12. Off topic, sorry, I try to not do this, but I feel so bad for the people in Japan, is anyone who posts here from or living there? And I see that Oklahoma just had a 3.5 earthquake, wouldn't cause major damage but I'm sure they had lots of shaking, plus it was close to the surface.

USGS Earthquakes, Did You Feel It?

  13. Appgal - I recommend going to Crabtree. It's located in Raleigh off of Glenwood Avenue. I prefer the J.Crew at Crabtree over Southpoint as it usually has a better selection than the one at Southpoint. I hope that's helpful

  14. For anyone in Virginia, there is a Wedding & Parties Sample Sale in Richmond. March 11-20, 10-6. Address is 9125 West Broad Street.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Appgal: I agree with Vanessa. Crabtree is much bigger than Southpoint but the only Anthro in the area is at Southpoint. You could hit both!

  16. i was in the columbia md store yesterday and the retro shell is marked down to 24.99. they had a lot of pink ones, but i didn't notice the other colors.

i also got the chambray blazer and LOVE it.

  17. Tamara / Alexis,

I was also wondering how the earthquakes and tsunami in Japan are affecting the J.Crew stores there?

Any report of their damages or employee safety?

    The videos are really scary.

  18. I popped into my local crewlet yesterday and realized that I have a love-hate-relationship with the outlet store. I love the fact that I was able to get the actual retail Silk Driving Scarf there for just under $40 (the purpose of my trip). I also love the outlet schoolboy blazer that I bought there recently for a fraction of the price of the retail jacket.

So, why should I be upset that they are selling an outlet version of the "Jaipur" shirt, which I bought retail last year? But wait, I actually paid less in the retail store than the current outlet price. Okay, I feel a little better now.

Lot's of additional percentages off in-store. Jackies are 50% (lots of beautiful colors to go with the silk driving scarf which seems to go with everything!), and 40% off their perfect shirts. I love the fit of the crewlet perfect shirts, and was tempted by the suckered gingham shirts, but I don't need another checkered shirt.

In a nutshell, the original prices are ridiculously high, but the percentage off makes some of the pieces good buys. Tons of pretty scarves ($5 off) and jewelry on sale.

Most ridiculously overpriced item: the $69.50 and $79.50 "All Man Made Material" Ballet Flats. If you are in the market for vinyl shoes, you might do better at Payless -- they're having a BOGO right now!

  19. Can anyone share which colors in the Forever Cardigan are on sale in-stores? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  20. OT Has anyone checked out Factory today? Wonering the quality of the Coralie Cami and also.. I'm interested in the Chambray Whisper Tiered Skirt. Is 18" just above the knee? It looks shorter than that?
    Thanks :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey Appgal, welcome to town, the weather will be lovely this weekend! :)

IMO, Southpoint is a better overall retail destination than Crabtree and usually has a good sale section going. And as someone mentioned, there's an Anthro there too.

Personally, because I am such a freakshow, I would go to both JCs. LOL. They're both right off their respective exits, so it doesn't take that long to drive between them.

I'm sorry your stuff got swiped. :(

Lauren, I love my Coralie cami. It's has a very flattering fit, and the ruffles are stragetically placed to help those of us with little extra fluff around the middle. :) It's not baggy at all. It's tough to explain but I love this top!

  22. MaryMoo, Vanessa, David, and Elaine: Thanks so much for the advice! How far away are the two malls?

And thanks for the condolences. I'm pretty sure one of my students took it, and who knows who I've made mad recently...don't know what they would do!

  25. Stuck to the sales side of my B&M today. No extra 30% off however good prices. Belmarin pants $29.99, Perfect Fit Stripe Boatneck $14.99, a few Jackies @ $39.99, and Skinny belts $9.99. No FINAL SALE signs either :) Selection mirrored what I have seen online. Store mgr. and associates were busy rearranging and making space for new arrivals.

  30. I was in an outlet store yesterday but did not look at the specific pieces Joanne asked about. I went there to get the "retail" silk driving scarf that many Afficionadas have already bought
    -- I highly recommend it!

I have a love-hate relationship with the outlet stores. I love that I could get an actual retail item there for $20, and I love the outlet version of the schoolboy blazer that cost me just $50. So why was I miffed when I saw that they were selling an outlet version of the "Jaipur" perfect shirt that I bought retail last year? So silly, but I felt better when I realized that I had still paid less for mine.

Most of the outlet prices were quite high, but the additional % off made some items appealling. The Jackies were 50% off, and the beautiful colors would go great with the silk driving scarf. The perfect shirts were 40% off, and I was very tempted by the outlet sucker gingham. I love the outlet perfect shirts that I have bought in the past.

They had a ton of pretty scarves and jewelry on sale.

But, the outlet shoes baffle me -- $69.50 and $79.50 for All Man Made Material Ballet Flats!??!? There was no extra percentage off yesterday. But, if you are in the market for vinyl flats, Payless is having a BOGO. And some of their shoes are leather!

  32. Off Topic:

tamara: We do have a JCA blogger in Japan: MODA aka The Outfit of the Day. She lives there with her husband, their little girl and new baby boy. We haven't heard anything from her yet, and are praying that she and her family are ok.

I know there are also several JCAs who live in Hawaii, including the blogger No Crew in Japan who recently moved back there after living in Japan the last 4 years. We haven't heard anything from her either, and are praying she and her family are also ok, along with all the other JCAs and their families who live there.

  33. FFM thank you for the mention of the two bloggers from the JCA community in Japan. Heartfelt thoughts and good wishes sent their way.

    ReplyDelete
  34. FFM, thank you for posting about fellow JCA bloggers that may be affected by this horrible tragedy. Sending prayers and most heartfelt widhes to them and the people of Japan. My heart goes out to them all.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Oh my, I can't believe I didn't think of my high school friend that is now living in Japan... prayers/well-wishes to those JCAers (and my friend) that are out there... those tsunami images today were INSANE. :(

On topic, I just went to the store and scarves were $10 off, so I got the leopard scarf there, and will return my full price one from my online order. Super soft, super lovely (silk, wool, cashmere blend).

    Only two noticeably new-to-me things:
-Ete shorts: Oh, my first encounter with nightfall blue, what a FANTASTIC colour, whoa... no exposed fasteners, a very clean tailored design, but too short, not flattering for me
    -stripe schoolboy blazer. Didn't try.

Sale section had some miscellaneous chinoesque pants, possibly the Cammy utility pants (something with a zipper on the right leg) in a sort of rosey khaki colour, ditzy floral dresses, vintage V-neck tees in grey, olive, some Saturday sweaters, silk pocket tanks, Bonfire cardigan in grey which I would have bought if they had XS ($49ish). OH and the Lunette WAS $30 there, but that's what I came to return, and re-trying the one I found in the sale section, I didn't really want it even for $30. It's nice but still seems like something I'd wear not often enough to justify it taking up space in my limited wardrobe space.

Oh wow, seeing now the Bonfire comes in XXS, may have to place an order now... then I can be super J.Obsessive and wear it with the Silk Serenade dress JUST LIKE IN THE CATALOG.

  36. Went to my local Crewlet this afternoon and was surprised to find some cuuuuute things! One in particular is a cream skirt w/gray polka dots in an a-line shape reminiscent of the Belle or Nicky skirts. Freakin' adorable. It was selling out fast too, and is now gone from the online factory store.

They also have a version of the Bazaar Tunique dress from last summer that is really nice. Seems to be good quality.

Their printed pencil skirts are also nice...I really liked the ikat dots print, but feel like they should be lined.

I took pics and made up a post that I'll probably publish sometime this weekend..after the paranoia wears off :)

  37. Oh no ... FFM, Outfit of the Day wrote on Mar 2 that she was leaving Japan and moving to Europe, but I'll bet she's still in Japan. She's probably thinking "what next?". A long distance relocation within a single country is tough enough, she's moving to an entirely different country, with a child ... my heart goes out to her. I could not feel worse for everyone over there. :(

  39. Just got a Jcrew & my first Boden order in.

    Mixed stitch cardigan-White
This is really lovely & very unique. Pockets are open, not sewn down or just for show. TTS to a little loose. The medium thickness crepe yarn material is not soft, but not bothersome enough to scratch the skin. Picked this one up at $54, not sure if it's a full price worthy buy.

    Featherweight cashmere cardigan-Hthr Algae
Color is nothing like imagined. It's more like a muted or dark mint green. It looks sort of blue green in the photo on my computer. I don't see any blue IRL. Not sure if it's all that complementary to my olive skin. Possible return.

    Cashmere femme cardigan-Hthr Tide
Great length and what a wonderful dark teal color. Not as soft as some of the other Cashmere I have tried. Feels a bit like the Featherweights as well. Still a great piece on sale.

    Tuxedo henley-Shadow
Not a new item, but at $20 I thought this would be a good addition to wear with a blazer or cardigan. TTS

    Silk pocket tank
Great basic for low cut silk shirts. Size down on this one. Picked up the Dark Charcoal & aged driftwood

Also broke down and picked up the Silk & Sequin Scoopneck Tee in Olive Moss at $20. Not sure where I would wear it, but it's a beaute for the price. I will definitely wear it once to get my money’s worth.

    Boden-St Malo Cardigan-Grey/Navy
A really great go-to piece for spring. I love the slimming silhouette it creates. The Gray/Navy is very versatile, but I regret not getting a funnier color. I may have to pick this up the other colors. TTS, shoulders & sleeves fit perfect. The only con or strangeness, is the enamel buttons are ridiculously big.

  40. I had Moda/OOTD's e-mail, so I wrote her and let her know we were all praying for her...

She wrote back and said they were all fine (thank God!). I don't know how much access she has to the internet, so I figured I should let you all know that she and her family are fine.

Obviously we need to keep the prayers going, though. Recovery seems like it will take such a long time. I just think of all the other terrible things that Mother Nature has unleashed in the past and how long recovery took...Katrina, the other tsunami in Indonesia...the list goes on and it just reminds us of how powerful Mother Nature's wrath can be.

  42. am looking forward to trying out the new cafe capris sometime this weekend. 47. Xoxo, I received it. Have not watched it but definitely plan to at least watch the fabric one. Don't know why I got it...maybe my online ps recommended me? I do a lot of J. Crew reviews but clearly have much more than that over there. :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Much more than that over there at my blog. LOL. Stupid smart phone...

    ReplyDelete
  49. xoxo - Oh heck no. I didn't get the DVD package because of blogging. I have an online ps and in-store ps. Also, since I have slowed my spending down I have received more communication from JC. At least it seems that way to me. More communication from both ps and the letter with the This is your personal phone number! card in it.

A couple people asked about passing along the package. I emailed someone, but she didn't respond. I threw away the the CD & shredded the original envelope (plain, grey/brown kraft). But if you want the booklet from inside, email me. Graphic designers & other paper lovers were interested.

  50. I just received an e-mail from JC to let me know that I'm just "one small splurge away" from getting a rewards card at the end of the month. It also included a code (apparently unique, so sorry that I'm not sharing) for one-time no-minimum free shipping. The only thing I want right now is a $25 scoop tee, and I'll probably buy it with the FS, but that won't put me over the top into a reward card. (I used to get a $50 reward card every quarter, but I'm not in that category of customer any longer.)

  51. P.S. Does anyone know whether college/professional school faculty are eligible for the JC teacher discount?

    ReplyDelete
  52. @ hexicon: yes, just show them your ID. Mine says part-time faculty and I've been using it to get 15% off full-priced items. I'm a part-time teacher, but full-time jcrew shopper ( that's where all my paychecks seem to go) :)

  53. Hexicon, I'm a college professor and I've never had a problem getting the teacher discount. However, I haven't actually used the discount since they made it for full-price items only.

  54. Did anyone try the Canteen pant? I never fit pants (too baggy in the thighs) but I wonder if this will fit being a skinny pant? It looks cute in the catalog? Also the Beaumont Blazer in the same pic (lace). And has anyone seen or tried that? Is it worth $298? Is it boxy like a lot of jkts..? It doesn't come in 00... TIA

  56. Can any of you all tell me if the Solid Ripstop Field Jacket can still be found in any B&Ms? It popped back on sale but before I could buy it *poof* it disappeared from my cart...arg! I've been stalking it ever since but with no luck.
    TIA!

  57. Sydneygirl, I tried on the canteen pant last weekend and really liked them, but I wouldn't call them a skinny pant. They are quite thin (which is a good thing here in the summer) and loose. Elastic waist (if I remember correctly) with the tie. I will get a pair, but not until they go on promo or sale. HTH

  58. Sydneygirl, I forgot to mention that the canteen pants are TTS.

  59. Just got back from both my local crewlet and retail b&m. So much cute new stuff at the crewlet!! I resisted though. Sale is down to a mere extra 20% off, meh.

I did buy something at the regular b&m. It is what I think is a retail only color of the letour floral Lucinda dress. Both colors are $49.99 in store. Ladies with larger chests, this dress is for you. It also runs at least one size large. In my normal size 6, it was huge! I could pull the sides out at the armpit several inches on each side, too. I ended up sizing down to a 2 (I never, ever wear a 2), and the bust is still slightly roomy. I am a D cup!

Aside from it running large... The dress is very flattering and pretty. I had on gray jc leggings and my gray suede glenbraes, and it looked great with that. Good way to wear it while the weather is still cold.

Also, I am mildly perturbed that this dress is already down to $49.99. It was just released what, 2 weeks ago?! What is up with the super fast markdowns??

    ReplyDelete
  60. Popped by the J.Crew @ Southpoint mall in Durham (what a great mall!) and was able to try on a few things. I fell in love with the sun drenched sweatshirt but they didn't have the blue color in stock. I sized down and it was perfect. There was also a new tank dress with exposed back zipper in a beautiful periwinkle color. I took some pics and will try to post later tonight!

    ReplyDelete
  61. AppGal: Did you size down to an XSmall or XXSmall in the sweatshirt?

    ReplyDelete

  64. AppGal, my store didn't have the blue either. PS suggested red phone....no luck there either - until it was brought up that they could do a store search. SUCCESS! Had an email waiting for me when I arrived home that evening that the shirt was found and was on it's way. FFM, I generally wear xs/s or 0/2 depending on style in JCrew tops. I'm 5ft 8ish....so I got the S in the sun drenched for the length. Sloppy/boxy look - but VERY cute/casual/comfortable look that I wanted. LOVE it (got it in the orange too - wore it today!)

  65. Visited my local crewlet today. Someone just said this recently and I have to agree, they have really CUTE stuff right now. Much of it which is not available on the website. I picked up the Printed Sylvie skirt in caribbean pink and I LOVE it! Also made a great score in clearance and got the Neopolitan pencil skirt for 39.99 and 30% off! Wasn't sure about this at first but it fit like a glove and I had to get it. Lastly I threw in the stripe textured jersey scoopneck tee in navy. I love the material and the fit, and the price was right.. around $13. I also saw the cream skirt with the gray polka dots that someone had mentioned earlier...adorable! It was a toss up but I couldn't buy 3 skirts b/c I already picked up 2 double serge pencils last week with the 30% promo. I was surprised they had some great ballet flats as well which I don't recall seeing in the outlet in the past. Anyway, the point of this story is if you happen to live near an outlet, it is definitely worth the trip =)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Sydneygirl- I reviewed the Beaumont last week. It is boxy but tts. The aged driftwood is about the same grayish color as the current b&m paper bags. The agate was the same color as it appeared on my monitor. I loved the concept of a lace blazer but ended up returning due to an unflattering fit, for me anyway. HTHs.

    ReplyDelete
  67. sydneygirl, I am usually a size 2 in pants but in the canteen pants I took a 0. I am a 2 in the linen silk cargo pants and in the zip utility pants, if that helps. They fit similar in the leg to these 2.

  68. FFM: I tried on a size xs and it was perfect.

  70. I stopped in at the B&M at the Boca Town Center mall. Tried on:
    - bellflower tweed pencil skirt = stunning!

-No. 2 double serge pencil skirt in bright dahlia - so glad JC did this color in an all season fabric. I lusted after the wool version for the longest time before deciding it just isn't practical for S. Florida. But now I have an excuse to jump on it!

-Indian voile boy shirt in aqua

    -Striped perfect-fit tank

The only thing I brought home this time was the striped perfect-fit tank. My clothing budget for this month is pretty much spent :-/ Oh well, something more to lust after :)

  71. I have done almost no shopping at JC for the past few months but ventured to the b&m yesterday to check out spring arrivals and the store was a madhouse! I was in a line 8 deep just waiting for a dressing room, which has never happened to me before! The merino stripe sweater dress was flying out of the store - I must have seen 5 different people trying it on (including me! Super cute but very short, i had to size up for length). The new cafe Capri was on special for $49.50. The sale section had lots of lace tees, sequin stripe tees and random sweaters. In fact, the store was so busy I really didn't get to see everything so I'll probably try to go back on a weekday when it is less crowded. But this was the first time in ages I felt excited about J.C offerings and apparently same for many others!

  72. This is OT but... what would you JCAs suggest that a fellow JCA wear to a job interview at J.Crew? It is just for a sales associate position in a B&M. I am used to wearing ultra conservative suits, plain colored button downs and a string of pearls to job interviews... so any suggestions would be appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Jca1338- I asked some friends who work there. One wore nice dark jeans to her interview with a tee and cardigan and ballet flats. Another wore a J.Crew pencil skirt with a tee and cardigan and suede wedges. Casual crew style is appropriate. Good luck! The discounts are awesome ;)

  74. To Dina and xoxo:

The promotional DVD was sent to our house. I was quite puzzled as it was addressed to my youngest daughter - who has never bought an item at J Crew via catalog or internet, except through me, through my online PS. My daughter actually received a cardboard envelope with an "invitation" inside - with one of those "personal 800 numbers", and now all of the catalogs that come to our home are addressed to her!!!

I talked to my personal shopper and she was quite puzzled as to how that happened, and told me that she is "looking into it." With 3 daughters and even a husband who receives J Crew items shipped here, as well as myself, we buy quite a bit at JC.

My blog is not something I ever discuss with my PS, don't know if she is aware of it or not, and my blog as not been active for almost a month (just been too busy here.)

So go figure, this is another one of those mysteries of J Crew.

Also, the Katie Cami is not in stores yet (atleast in DC Metropolitan area), but they said new shipment will be in on Monday and most likely the Katie Cami will be in that shipment.

  79. Thanks a lot everyone - I really appreciate those comments. Sadly it sounds like the Beaumont blazer is unlikely to work for me - since it doesn't come in 00 and if it is boxy. Also the comment about a color being like the bags is funny, don't know that I want a lace jacket in that color :)

Re the canteen pants - that feedback helps. Those still sound promising, esp if they are elastic/drawstring waist and a lightweight fabric. That way a baggy fit could work. I'm excited a pant might fit. I would likely wait for a sale but still...I need to go to the store and try some of the new arrivals.

    Thanks again

  83. Visited the J.Crew at the Walden Galleria near Buffalo, NY. There was a dismal little sales rack (a few feet wide maybe?) with nothing interesting. No extra 30% off.

Visited the J.Crew outlet at the Fashion Outlet Mall in Niagara Falls, NY. There was extra 30-40% off a lot of items. The Perfect Shirt looks so soft...it seems to be the perfect fabric - light and loose but opaque enough to wear everywhere. I didn't get a chance to try it on, though.

  84. For JCA's in the Pacific Northwest, new stock will be in stores on Wednesday. SA told me there will be several dresses, cardigans and short sleeve shirts.

  85. Rose, the Vivette dress looks really great on you! It fits you perfectly. The other dresses are nice but the Vivette is really a standout, very flattering.
