Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the HOLIDAY sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. Made a rare visit to JC B&M this Saturday, as well as Madewell. Posted reviews on my blog.

Pricing discrepancies all over the place, main reason that I walked away empty handed.

  2. Has anyone seen the Trolley Trench or Chambray Utility Jacket in their recent store visits? Neither are in my local store. I'm interested in both, but very hesitant to buy since they are both marked down now, making them FS. :(

  3. At the risk of sounding a little paranoid--this is a different user name for me.

I wrote CS this weekend about a minor but annoying matter ($ value about $30). I didn't even ask for an adjustment or other compensation, I just said "this happened, and I'm unhappy about it." CS response was "you can return the item [how nice of them to let me return a BNWT FP item purchased last week!], and oh, BTW, this couldn't have possibly happened the way you say it did."

Because I was angry and in a hurry, I clipped a photo from another blog to illustrate the issue, and mentioned that this problem had been pretty well discussed, so I wasn't alone. (Not a private blog, and a google search with key words produces the photo and discussions of this issue.)

As they say, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition! I'll omit further identifying details but it was pretty clear they were researching me. BTW, I am not a serial FS returner or price adjuster (I've done each once) so I shouldn't be on their "naughty" list.

  4. I went to two different b&ms and left with nothing! I did take some pics though, which you can see here.

  5. Same paranoia but here's the story: fell in love with a JC bag. Decided I should have it in more than one color. Ordered it in 2nd favorite color from finalsalefreeship30% promo, with a bunch of ridealongs. Thought i might have gotten the last one because my bag then disappeared
from site. Full order sat in "in stock - released" status for 2 +1/2 weeks. Then got 2 emails within seconds of each other - your order has shipped (yey) and The Dreaded re: only the bag. Sulked for a few days, for a week, for another week. . Then before the order arrived (I'm in the northeast of the continental US) my bag reappeared on the site. Still FS but without additional markdown.

Well, I hardly ever learn from experience, because while sulking I ordered the bag in still a 3rd color, on some other random promo.. This one arrived missing a key part of its hardware. Negotiations with CS to continue after end of holiday weekend (hence the paranoia).

Oh and I found bag #2 on eBay NWT and used eBay coupons & eBay bucks - so maybe JC did me a favor. still mulling over that one.

  6. I'm sorry if I'm intruding, Eustacia Vye, but I am curious about what you mean when you say 'It was pretty clear they were researching me'. I worry about being on their 'naughty' list too (although I really shouldn't, they're a STORE not the KGB). Could you clarify a bit? I am really intrigued. Thank you and so sorry for your troubles.

On another note, has anyone tried the tulip ruffle cami? Good, bad, or amazing? The dragonfly blue color is gorgeous. Thank you!

  7. I went to the B&M at Easton in Columbus on Friday. The only thing that caught my eye was a dress that I can't find online. It's silk, sleeveless, v-neck, with big eyelet around the bottom. And it has pockets, which I always love on a dress. My store had it in ivory and an orangey color. The ivory was lovely and I would have tried it on, but I bought an ivory eyelet dress at Anthro last summer.

  9. I think the store managers and corporate have calls and read the blogs. How much they are able to connect the dots down to an individual customer, I don't know. A couple of years ago, I received a catalog before they were officially out, given to me by a friendly store manager. I made comments here on some of the upcoming items I was looking forward to. Nothing negative, it was all positive. After that, I think they were told not to give them out before a certain date and that store manager has never given me one since, even though we're friendly. Maybe it was a coincidence.

There were a couple of other things too. I believe changing your name from time to time is not a bad thought. No need to make it easy for them.

  10. For those that are contemplating the Herringbone Schoolboy Blazer in Heather Charcoal. Now that I've seen it, I'm not bonding. While the Aged Driftwood is pretty, albeit slightly scratchy, the Heather Charcoal has this quality that looks like fake denim. To me, it doesn't look like a heathered linen and it doesn't have the nice crinkling the lighter color has. They would have been better off just making it black linen. I don't know that I would get this at super sale.

As for the Super 120s jackets, just gorgeous. Same with the Navy Schoolboy. And both of these styles have better tapering at the waist.

  11. One more question :)

Has anyone seen or tried the Slim boy jean in Beach comber? Thoughts?

  12. There are a few new releases that I have my eye on, but I don't have plans to actually *buy* anything any time soon. I need nothing. I'm moving in a little over a week and I did some wardrobe editing this past weekend. I have 14 bags waiting for the charity truck and my closets are still over-full. Ridiculous.

  13. I visited the Birch Run Crewlet Saturday and was rather disappointed. I've read other JCAs mention that the Crewlet seems over-priced for an outlet and I must agree. I left empty handed. I then visited the Rochester J Crew and it seemed a bit empty, but I did buy the new Notched Denim belt (as pictured on page 57 of the March catalog) as they were still offering $10 off on belts. Today we visited a different B&M and this one was one of the nicer stores I've been to- this one is in Troy, MI. They had quite a good sized clearance section and I found a Buffalo Check Boy Shirt in Celestial Blue...unfortunately I think I have missed out on getting it in black- boo hoo!

If the weather holds out my hubby has agreed to stop at 2 more B&Ms on our way home this Saturday...I'm hoping for a big sale to finish up my trip! :)

Oh, and for any Michigan JCAs, the SA today told me that this fall they are going to be opening a Madewell store at the Troy Somerset Mall!
