"Looking to LOVE" with J.Crew

Preface: A big "thanks!" to Ibi who suggested weekly 'Looking to LOVE' and 'Looking to HATE' posts where we could all "deposit" our best & worst current experiences. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)

This is the weekly "Looking to LOVE with J.Crew" post, a place to share our favorite experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a positive situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including stellar experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I recently had a great experience with an online chat personal shopper. She helped me accessorize a dress I was planning to wear to a wedding. We both chose Jenna's cardigan to go with the dress and she picked a stunning necklace. I definitely recommend this feature.

  2. Just checked the status on my order (placed on day 1 of the promo no less) to find one of my fave phrases in the English language: out for delivery! Yay for fast shipping, yay for $7 factory sleep pants (which miraculously stayed in my cart *after* factory online closed) and yay for pair *number 2* of trooper pants-- which, at $60 - 30%, I can't recommend highly enough. Perfect combo of cute and comfy!

  3. I have an awesome online ps (and in-store one but I've told you that already). She is always cheerful and accommodating. And never snippy about price adjustments or other such things the way the cashiers at the b&m often are. I love her and can't say enough good things about her!!

  4. I was able to return items marked Final Sale to my local B&M and they were very accomodating.

My order had been misshipped and when they kindly shipped my items, three came up FS.

    Very thankful!

  5. Would like to report that I have had great luck with the cashmere this year! I bought several of the cashmere cody cardigans, have worn one of them close to every day for a couple of months (even just around the house -- they are so comfortable and warm!) and they still look new. This is such an improvement over the cashmere of two years ago -- I recently wore a cashmere turtleneck from 08-09 for the first time and after *one* wear it was in such horrible shape, that even after trying a sweater shaver, I threw it away. Even on super sale, a one time wear is not a good deal!

Anyway, big improvement J.Crew -- yay! Recommend buying during the 30% promotion if you can find in your size!

  6. I had a great experience by phoning the Walnut Creek store on Sat. I was lucky to have a great sales person pick up the phone to help me. He found the buffalo shirt jacket that I wanted and sent it off to me.
It arrived yesterday without a hitch. It is perfect- warm and cozy.
    Thanks R.!

  7. audreys,

That is really great to hear. My 2008 cashmere sweater that I paid full price for is awful looking. I sleep in it on cold nights. I doubt I will ever buy JCrew cashmere again though.

  8. Summer, yes, I bought a whole lot of cashmere in 08-09 -- I think that was the year we first got the 25% off everything red card. And I had terrible experiences with ALL! So the next year I bought nothing and switched, actually, to Ann Taylor cashmere after a magazine (I think it was InStyle) picked their cashmere as the best of the year, and have to say, that cashmere did great. But, J.Crew always has those awesome colors... so this year, I spoke to one of the store managers that I have gotten to know a bit, and she told me this year's was better... she and a bunch of SAs ALSO had bad experiences in the past couple years and she told me they had been wearing this year's cashmere to work and it had held up markedly better. So, with that, I did try some this year, and have been very pleasantly surprised. So, good for J. Crew for listening to customer complaints.

  9. I had a great end to a not so great experience with Jcrew. I'm Australian so getting my hands on Jcrew clothes can be difficult and when they don't work out (one faulty item, 2 bad fits), returns are a real pain but a customer service rep made sorting out the return much easier :)

The whole saga is here- http://missmodernclassic.blogspot.com/2011/01/great-j-crew-customer-service.html

if you wanted to check it out :)

  10. Audreys - I have to agree. I bought two cashmere cardigans from J. Crew this year, and both have done very well. One has some pilling, but only a little and nothing out of the norm. Definitely better than in the past!
