Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  2. Put out better clothes, J.Crew, and I won't need a code to buy from you!

  3. I ordered bistro mini from factory online. I think last year's bistro mini was felted wool.

The factory version I ordered is item 29992 "double-serge wool bistro mini"
Does anybody know if this factory version is better than last year's? I thought double-serge wool was more expensive than felted wool.

  4. I purchased the Un Sweatpant, which was part of the 30% off sweater sale! (Plus I had my 20% off coupon!) I posted a pic of what they look like on styled the way J Crew suggested.

  5. I was able to get the Silvana cardigan through my PS after a certain store REFUSED to honor the online sales price & the sweater promo. I forgot why I hate going to the B&M sometimes! Some stores have some really rude sales associates! They had the nerve to think I was "making up" the online sales price and that B&Ms NEVER match online prices. Sheesh!

I scored a lot more stuff at Banana though...with MUCH better Customer Service! They had an extra 30% off sale items. They also give you an additional 15% discount if you are a student, teacher, military affiliated, or senior citizen! I had no idea they were implementing this discount since there were no signs but I guess it's like a secret that most don't know about. So know you know! :)

  6. I hadn't done any shopping at J. Crew since August and planned to avoid it until the 25% card promotion was over since I didn't get one. But with the 30% sweaters I decided to go get the marled shawl-collared cardigan, which had been sold out in my size/color choice for awhile (and previously wasn't on sale in my store even though it had been in others for weeks).

So i bought that sweater for $48 after the promo. Also bought the last pilar cami in the store for $15, two haberdashery shirts for $15 a piece, the confetti ruffle shirt in white for $30 and an oxford tunic (don't know the name) for $20.

Still frustrated with the inconsistency across the board in J. Crew. In my store, some of the SAs knew you could combine promos or that the 30% off applied to store sweaters, but most of them were confused about everything!

I felt like I got some good deals on basics, so it was worth it. But I hate feeling like going into the store is a chore.

  8. Marietta- Ahhh! so lucky! i wonder why different stores have different % offs? Maybe they were trying hard to get rid of lots of stuff? Either way, that must have been a really good deal!

  9. I picked up the Dream Zip Henley (31359) in dark cypress and charcoal, have to decide which I like best. I think I have heard you all say they do not wear well, so I am hesitant to keep both. Also can't decide if it's itchy or not on the arms (I am uber sensitive to itchy). Also picked up the Merino Ruffle Moto Sweater (30249) even though for a long time I thought it looked cheap and JCPenney-esque. I tried it on anyway, and I like it when it's 2/3rds unzipped and the flap hangs over where the ruffle stops at the collar. Also need to make sure this isn't itchy. Got two cardigans that have a zipper going all the way around the neck, don't see them online. Got a nice pickish color and a green, have to choose. Broke down and bought the crystal stud belt with my red card, but $41 dollars is still too much for this belt. I just love the color (the cobblestone) and have been stalking it for some time. Got the gorgeous cords in the smoky (sic) orchid. Had to get them quite tight in the waist to look good everywhere else, so it's going to be a serious pillsbury crescent roll moment when i release myself from them after a long day.

In my area, it's amazing how friendly one JCrew store is compared to another. They ALWAYS take final sale items back, I heard the manager say that he always overrides final sale direct sale (online) purchases. I told them when I was doing a mega return on Saturday we purposely drive further to go to their store, because the SA's are happy and not hostile.

  11. I was in store last week and picked up the peacoat in the nordic blue color. Friend used her Mickey card to help me save a few bucks but I would have happily paid full price since it is sold out online and I think the one in store was an online return because it was the only one there. I love the coat, it's so soft and thick and the color is gorgeous. That was the only thing I wanted for quite a while because a lot of things seem really cheaply made IMO. I hope the quality improves on the next rollout.

  12. I went in on Saturday (lincoln park store, chicago) with every intention of buying some sweaters with the 30% off deal and b/c I was so thrilled I scored a 25% off card. I was disappointed that things had been so picked over there were only xs and 00s left. I really wanted the wool bell skirt, but they only had it in light grey and only sizes 0 and 00 (unfortunately, I'm not that tiny).

I did try on the Stadium cloth Sasha peacoat, which I've been eyeing (again, they only had it in a color I didn't want so I didn't purchase). Several years ago I bought a wonderful bright yellow stadium cloth peacoat and I wanted to compare. The material seems as nice and is very thick. It says it is slim fitting and it is VERY fitted - I will probably go up one size to fit a sweater underneath.

In the end, I was so frustrated I didn't get to take advantage of the promos or the 25% off card. The overall merchandise in the store did seem a little lackluster, and some things I did like were really overpriced. ($300 for a sweater - not even cashmere?!)
