Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Umm, I'm not feeling the urge - I'm open to any compelling reasons to go. If the polka dot flouncette blouse is lower than $59.99, that would be compelling in my book. Milljcrew has sold me on it after seeing her pairing with the navy piped-and-twisted cardi :)

  2. I snagged the stadium cloth charcoal grey wool coat for $99 - original price, $278, tagged at $149. The additional savings was a nice surprise when I checked out. Only two left in my size, a 6, a few in the lighter grey, not sure of sizes. Rock Center store in NYC, Thursday afternoon. The email I received for 20% off outerwear prompted me to make a visit during lunch. Good luck all and happy sale shopping!

  3. Hi, I have a question I was hoping a JCA could answer. I'm relatively new to purchasing things at J.Crew (I didn't realize before this year that it's possible to purchase things way below retail with markdowns and coupon codes), and something I actually bought last week got marked down significantly at my store. Since I haven't worn it, yet, I thought about re-purchasing the item and then returning the other one, but they were out of my size. I asked the guy how many days I had for a price adjustment and he said 7. Does this mean I have to have taken the receipt into the store within 7 days, or just that the markdown occurred within 7 days. Thanks for any help.

Also, I checked and the polka dot flouncette blouse as of today in store was still $59.99 @mommydearest. I don't know when further markdowns occur, but that's the price currently.

  4. Kelly,
I believe the markdown has to occur within seven days of the date on your receipt/date of purchase. Seems kind of stingy because I'm pretty sure it used to be 14 days.

  5. TGIF, ladies!

I'm looking for the Justine double-drape jacket (31890), 2, at the sale price. Have you seen it in your B&M?

  8. I am headed down in the morning to see and try on some of the new items. Probably won't buy anything full price, unless they have the pencil skirt that Marietta mentioned on another post. It's not online or in the catalog, so I'm afraid it might sell out in stores before it gets marked down.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I have no jcrew coats so I have to go and try on. Is the 20% off also at stores? I need to see the night pencil skirt in person.

  10. Will probably be stopping into a store this weekend to look at the new colors in person. I've already been told XXS sweaters won't be carried in-store, so I'll be going just to check out the styles/IRL looks of the items. Will review if anything is worthy of it!

Just ordered the Cashmere v-neck cardi in soft peacock. Can anyone comment on how this color looks IRL? Or does anyone own this sweater in XXS that can comment on teh fit of that? I know I've been told it runs fairly TTS, but the Cash v-neck henley that ran "TTS" was enormous on me! Thx in advance!

  11. OT: Does anyone know when the women's spring presentation is? I am SO curious to see if they mix it up for 2011. It was about this time last year that we were seeing photos for the 2010 presentation.

    thanks!

  12. I think I'm going to get the mini skirt that is flannel and bright colors- sorry no style number but I'll find out tomorrow! Have u all seen it yet? It appears to be in store only for now...

    ReplyDelete
  13. math teacher or Marietta, could you provide the style number for the new pencil skirt, if you have it?

    TIA

  14. I tried on that new pencil skirt at the B&M yesterday. It is quite hard to describe but I'd have to say it's like the "Sunnie" pattern, but the background is like, maybe Mansfield Blue with lime, cream, and a dark red woven into it. The plaid is not as easily defined as the Sunnie. It was definitely a shorter length (maybe 20-21"), so the fit just seemed off to me. My first response was to try to pull the 4 down for a little length, but that just drew attention to the hip/butt area. The 2 fit alright but the skirt felt too short for my comfort level. I wasn't crazy about it - if it were cream with a blue/lime/dark red plaid I think I would've liked it a little better, but wasn't in love with the background color.

    ReplyDelete
  15. @mommydearest: same here...I don't feel the urge to go but if there are good markdowns I may go. If only that blouse has dropped to $40 or less I will get it.

@Kelly: Yes, you have to get your price adjustment on full price items within the 7 day window period (which is an awfully short period). However, if you happened to go to the store and didn't have the receipt with you, you can email JC CS and explain the situation. I've had a case with a dress I bought FP and I was able to get the price adjusted by providing the receipt info via email.
And yes, you can score some really great JC items on sale and promo. Hope it works out for you. :-)

  16. Could you let me know if you see the Bayberry wool scarf in Plum (greenish with plummy pink print) in a store. I didn't make my mind up fast enough and it is s/o online. TIA hexicon at yahoo dot com

    ReplyDelete
  17. are any B&M's offering additional % off sale items?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kelly, thank you! So kind of you to think to update! I think I'm with jcrewphd - $40 (or less) will be the magic number. It's not a must-have, just looked so cute in milljcrew's polyvore.

    ReplyDelete
  19. silver_lining, I saw the new pencil skirt yesterday and I agree that the background color is meh. I did not even feel like trying it on and I love pencil skirts. Maybe it'd more interesting when styled with something. But I think it is one of the things that I would never consider was it hanging in another store.
J Crew is really loosing it's touch for me. I am finding more and more at other stores. The pencils are one of the few things left that they do better than others but I have more that enough to last me a lifetime...

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hexicon - are you talking about the one that matches the Bayberry flouncette blouse? I've seen that color at both downtown Seattle and Bell Square in the past week. Tons of them. I've seen the other two colors too.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Kristen,

Where the scarves on sale did you notice? I too waited too long for that particular color but I want a bargain:)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Genny - nope. In store they were still full price.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Would love to go to see some new arrivals IRL, but won't have time this weekend, unfortunately.

OT, but I couldn't resist posting this...

You know you know your J Crew a little too well when you can recognize it in a split second - I'm pretty sure Meredith was wearing the marled Thandie in the last scene of Gray's Anatomy last night - charcoal gray, cropped jacket with the raw-edge seams. They did a close-up of the lapel, and it just had to be the Thandie. It looked cute on her!

No one I know appreciates both Grey's and J.Crew, so I had to share with someone! :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Thanks Kristin! I'm actually here in the PNW so that is great info!

  25. OT, so just now I received a "Did you forget something?" email from JC reminding me that I had items in my cart. How about you send me a free ship with no minimum, JC?

  27. I went today and returned my Stadium Cloth Peacoat in Charcoal Gray and ordered the Stadium Cloth Elements coat in Heather Gray. I actually sized down for the Elements coat and got a size 2. The SA was nice but kept trying to push me into buying the Elements coat in the dark fatigue green color since they had it in the store. Don't get me wrong, I love the olive green trend right now but prefer to buy shirts on trend and keep my coat a classic neutral that I can wear for years to come. I ended up giving in and opened a JCrew card too so I paid around $250 for the coat. Not bad, I guess.

    ReplyDelete
  28. xoxo, the syle number is the same as the Sunnie, #31935, color code is GMU. HTH!

I will be going to the b&m tomorrow for a JCA event that Summerilla organized at 45th & Madison. Looking forward to it! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Amanda: I appreciate both!! I wasn't paying much attention to Grey's last night, though, so I didn't notice if Mer was wearing that.

    ReplyDelete
  30. @Taylor and jcrewphd: Thank you guys so much...I emailed customer service with my receipt info and they're giving me the PA. $24 back, woohooo!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Nicole- can I ask why? And is the stadium element coat hood removable? I just ordered the pea coat in the heather charcoal, I've been lusting over it... but i have been looking at the elements one as well. My fiance said no to the elements one because of the hood, he thought it was too casual and I guess that swayed me to go wtih my original plan.

    ReplyDelete
  32. JS- I decided I wanted a coat that was a bit longer. I do agree with your fiance that the Elements coat is a bit casual although in the store they paired it with a pretty blouse, several necklaces and jeans and another mannequin had a dress on and the coat looked great either way. I could definitely see wearing heels or heeled boots with it. I have two small kiddos so I don't mind the casual look. The hood is not detachable. I got the light gray (hope I like it) but I think the dark fatigue color was great too just wasn't sure if I would tire of it.

I also have an ivory peacoat from Talbots coming soon. I am going to compare and keep either the ivory coat or the Elements coat. So indecisive :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. @Kelly: I'm so glad you got the PA! It used to be few years ago you could get PA on sale items but JC no longer does that. I love Anthropologie policy where they give PA within 14 days window regardless of FP or sale merchandise.

  34. Does anyone know what the tailoring benefit is for cardholders? I swear the manager told me a few weeks ago that if a tank top is too low, they would tailor it for free, even if it's a sale item. I love the perfect fit tanks, and just got the one with vertical layers on the top half, it was on sale for $14.99 plus %25 off with the red card. I would feel weird asking them to tailor something so cheap, but MAN I am tired of the perfect fit tanks stretching as you wear them, and doing to cleavage. Even my DEMI bra will show, and I keep having to pull them up. The favorite tank was a terrible fit, REALLY tight in the stomach and that's where I carry my weight. I wish I could find casual camis at other stores that weren't hideous colors. If there is anything J Crew understands, it's how not to have a color pallet that hurts your eyes. Sometimes I wonder if that's much of the allure of J Crew, when I go to other stores and see the crayola, neon colors.

  35. I think I might have been in the dark, but thanks to ShoppingwithM I just discovered Boden's website. OMG. VERY cute stuff. Great photography, item descriptions, etc. And the shipping nomenclature, how refreshing. I have never been to Europe, but I always thought I would fit in there, I love the vibe of this site. Can anyone comment on their sizing? Do we have to pay additional customs fees to get the merchandise to the US? I'm such a rookie.

    ReplyDelete
  36. CharlotteSometimes, Boden's shipping is a flat $10. However, they often run promos with free shipping and free returns, plus an extra % off. I always search for a coupon code before ordering from Boden. I don't have a ton of items from there, but so far everything has fit TTS (and not necessarily TTS at JC, but my size everywhere else). HTH There are many others here who order from Boden, so others may chime in with their sizing experience. They changed their sizing this year to reflect US sizing and I haven't received my item (today or Monday!) to see how it compares to my regular US sizes. I knew exactly what British size to order before the change, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that my new item fits.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Went to the Prince st. store yesterday. They had some very cute new stuff but the reason why I am posting here is that for I think the first time since I shop at Jcrew I found a SA who knew the names of all the styles and knew exactly what I was talking about. He even corrected me on the name of the new chinos! I had the impression to speak with a peer jca. Sorry, I just had to share!
Hexicon, they had the scarf in case you are still looking for it. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  38. CharlotteSometimes -- So glad I helped turned you on to Boden - really cute stuff there. I've always been really happy with my orders. The flat ship rate is nice, but I think I've always used a code for free shipping and returns (if you get their catalog, it always offers that, plus 10% off). As has been mentioned, I've found it runs TTS (true to regular size, not always J.Crew vanity sizing). They have wonderful CS, so if you have any questions at all as to fit, I definitely recommend asking them for help.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks Nicole! I think I'm going to keep the pea coat because I love it and it will fit a niche in my wardrobe that is lacking, but I'm thinking on the next coat promo or sale I'll try to get the elements coat as well. I love the green color!

I too am looking for a longer coat than the pea coat, because I hate how my butt gets cold if I sit on something in the winter that is cold. My BF says I never wear any of my long coats, which is true, but I think the elements coat is kind of in between long and short which seems great!

    ReplyDelete
  40. CharlotteSometime,

I have been ordering from Boden for 3 years. I like their clothes quality, colors and styles a lot. I used to live in the UK for several years and still go back on a regualr basis. I even go by their warehouse! I got spoiled and used to get my items that I ordered in 1 day! Here in the US it takes a while but their CS is also top notch with help. They now have one or two US warehouses. No extra customs fees.

I was even on an email list for a while that gave presale of new items at 20% off and free ship and returns last fall/winter and this spring. I did not get that type of email this fall. So maybe they did away with that discount feature.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I was at the B&M in Austin, TX yesterday at the Domain and was bummed that there was no additional % off sale items. Just FYI. I am checking out the J.Crew in Barton Springs mall today.

  42. Hubby just said he needs new work shoes so will be going out tonight to my local store for a quick peek. Too bad I did not get to go during the time I had a white card but was super super busy busy during that time period!

  43. Can anyone tell me if the Sunnie skirt fits TTS and does the blue plaid retail-only one fit the same? thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  44. CaptainCrew - I haven't seen Sunnie, but the in-store version fits tts. As someone mentioned before it is shorter than the double serge skirts. I like that.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Captain Crew, I have the Sunnie and I would say it is TTS. I think it is just a smidge bigger in the hips than the perfect pencils from this year, but not as big as the moss tweed, which didn't work on me. I love it, by the way. Hope that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks for the feedback A and Kris. I have the moss tweed in a 4 so I'm going to ask my PS to pull the skirts in the same size. Are there any IRL photos of the blue plaid Sunnie out there, the retail one?

Kris - I didn't think I'd like the moss tweed so much since it's not as thick as the blue tweed from last year but I find I am liking the slightly shorter length. Hemline trends are going up.

  47. Stopped by the outlet today. They have all the fall stuff in, but most is still priced too high for me. Not much in clearance - looks like they already got rid of all the summer stuff. Here's what I saw:

Clearance was an extra 30% off. Mostly tees, a few Jackies, and a few cotton skirts.

    Wool blazers 50% off.

    Wool carlin coat 50% off.

    Most cardigans were 40% off.

    Velvet Eden blazer was $60.

    Wool ruffle coat 50% off.

    Jewelry was 30% off.

I think the original prices in-store match the original factory prices online for comparison. With the in-store promotions, a lot of things are cheaper than online. You may want to stop in or see if you can get one of the factory stores to ship items to you.

FYI, I was at the Sawgrass Mills store in South Florida.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The cotton pimm skirt is now $9.99 in-store. And this may be old news, but the dolce tweed mini is now $79.99. Many of the same items still on clearance. They should have at least a 20% addtl off to move things, but what do I know. Oh, and the glen plaid minnies are $39.99.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Does anyone have the Cloud Paisley Perfect Shirt? Or have you seen it IRL? If so, what do you think of it? I don't need any more shirts, but I'm a sucker for both gray and paisley.

I bought a couple merino V-necks at BR yesterday, so that's it for me this weekend.

    ReplyDelete
  50. My B&M didn't have many interesting new arrivals out. I do like the nightfall blue and orchid shadow Jackies in person and may end up ordering one (or both), but will probably wait for FS?

Alexie (in blue) in person is much lighter than online. Either it's an in-store only color, or the mineral blue is misrepresented, but I thought it looked pretty different.

    Saw no cashmere anywhere. Hmph.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Picked up a snood in heather graphite. It's quite large and soft, and seems really versatile. Looking forward to it keeping me warm in the coming months...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I picked up the new sunnie skirt in the in-store blue/gray multi. It's really pretty and fits more with the colors of my closet than the online sunnie. I have several sweaters and cardis that pair with it. My favorite is the spiced olive from 2-3 years ago - LOVE! It also works with the royal purple from a couple of years ago. I tried and liked it with the jackie in henna. I think it would also work with the right shade of gray, ivory, purple. Maybe black (haven't tried that yet). I also like it with navy. I bought one of the new always cardis - LOVE LOVE LOVE the pockets! Why have they waited for the 3rd release to add pockets?

I like the drapey sequin tank - I want this but am willing to wait for a markdown. I was surprised that I liked the vintage cotton traversa-stripe tank. I will wait for a markdown, though. I hated the merino de longueur cardigan - it is kind of a-lined which is not a good look around the hips. Plus, it's way too long for my (I'm 5'4"). I like the infinity, even though it's long, b/c it's sleek. I tried on what I think is the trouper pant and didn't like them. They were too tapered - not thin all the way down the leg. I'll stick with the waverly, favorite fit, or toothpick. :) Btw, the crystal bead cardi is marked down (I think 79.99).

    ReplyDelete
  53. I stopped in today looking for the gold Sunnie and the Timber but only found the Timber. They seemed to be selling out already so I picked it up. So pretty. Fits TTS, long enough on me but only because I'm 5'1. I can see how other JCAs are bothered by the short length. Also picked up a chambray button down.

I was really hoping to see the gold Sunnie. I saw the blue version but I wasn't crazy about it. None of the new cashmere anywhere!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Lia: what are the specific colors in the Timber skirt? I can only see brown/cream online. Are there other flecks of color throughout that I'm not seeing?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Jeanne,

I have the cloud paisley shirt (bought it back with the 25%), but I am thinking about taking it back. It is much more pewter than it looks online. I expected it to be a softer grey based on the pictures, but it is darker with a lot of the brownish pewter and black. Also, it is the silk/cotton blend and doesn't have much shape or crispness. It would go great with some of my other separates, but it isn't that impressive in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  56. J-crewlove, could you post a picture of the brightly colored flannel mini you mentioned and provide the item number?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Thanks, Kitsmommy. It sounds like I already have a couple shirts from last year that are similar. If my size is still available when it's marked down substantially, I'll probably order it, but I'll pass for now.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hi Auburn- I don't have a blog but I'm happy to send you a picture! I just took a few! Or email me at jcrewlove@gmail.com and I'll forward you a pic!

I also bought a few tissue turtle necks and basic leggings today! Turtlenecks are $10 off at my store and jewelry is still 25% off!

I purchased today I feel like it's tts in my regular size 0- I think it fits similar to the daisy day skirt- I'll have to measure both but they seem similar fit with pockets and such! I just love it!

    Style # 32456
    color red wa0206
    $98

Hth! Maybe this one will pop up online in a few weeks? At my store this was the last one in my size so I was happy to purchase instead on playing the sale game!

    ReplyDelete
  59. AppGal - I own the timber tweed pencil skirt, and love it! It is a mixture of brown, camel and greyish looking threads interwoven with bronze metallic threads. I paired it with the Cashmere crewneck cardigan in heather honeycomb.

  60. The store in Madison, WI had this season's burgundy sequin skirt marked down to 39.99! There were a couple mid-range sizes left as of this evening. Also saw the glen plaid Minnies for 39.99, but all Minnies fit atrocious on me. I saw the marled blazer that's been marked down to 39.99 (or was it 49.99?) in several sizes, too.

I didn't partake in any of the sale items, which included all the sweaters that didn't sell after the sweater promo, but I did exchange my wool cashmere icon trench for a B&M only stadium cloth trench called the Trudy. My store had them in a great camel and black, which both retail for $325. The coat is a lot like the boulevard trench from last year, but they seem slightly different. I feel like the Trudy is a bit less embellished, but I'm really just going off memory here.

I had a great experience with the SA who did the exchange for me. I bought the wool cashmere trench via the red phone during the Mickey card promo, but they applied CA sales tax because my billing address is in CA. This time, they applied the 20% online promo to the Trudy trench and charged me WI sales tax (5% instead of 10), so it was essentially an even exchange. I think I paid .98 because of the sales tax difference. So pleased!

  61. I stopped by the Huntsville, AL Jcrew yesterday to try on the marled Thandie blazer. Loved it! And such a deal for $49.99.

And even though the Goldenrod brocade top is still FP online, it was marked down to $79.99 in the store.

  62. My husband really used to like JCrew and when we were in tonight and he went to look at the men's section he said, "What has happened to JCrew? The clothes all look cheap." My thoughts exactly. I was excited to look at the pink/blue plaid flannel shirt as well as a couple of others and the quality was so poor. $72 for each. No thanks. Would not even pay $10.

Glad others are finding things they like. My store had several people shopping but most walking out empty handed. Other stores I shopped had had long lines to purchase but not JCrew.

I did go to JCrew hoping to find the sequin silk sashes. They had 3 left--one in each color. I was very excited and bought all three for $9.99 each.

Other than that I did not see anything but a couple of sweaters I kind of liked but one had acrylic in it! Another was a gorgeous purple color with buttons on the shoulders but the fabric looked so cheap!

  64. I tried on the traversa tank today. For reference, I wear a size 10 in skirts/pants. A medium in jackie, medium in the recent zipper cardigan. A 12 in perfect shirts (but get them taken-in in the waist, but need 12 for bust).

The traversa in size S fit, but was a smidge tight in the chest. The Size medium fit well, not too tight, not terribly loose.

HOWEVER - I am 5'3"...on a good day. I wear a "short" in all the jcrew pants. On this tank, the "cool" stripes start at my hip. So, if you were thinking of tucking this in, it would defeat the point of the tank, you wouldn't get to see the "surprise" stripes. If you want to wear it untucked, it'll hit your butt, at my height.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I also tried on the gilded sweater-jacket. I really wanted to like this. But the fit was off. I wear a medium in all cardigans but the medium on this "sweater jacket" was very fitted. THis is more "jacket" than sweater. THe band on the bottom doesn't give very much either.

The worst was the sleeves, exceptionally long. And you can't hide that fact because the sleeves have zippers. If you fold the sleeves over, you'll see the underside of the zipper.

    Bummer, will not buy this.

    ReplyDelete
  66. AppGal - Marietta's color description is spot on. The bronze threads give it a little bit of sparkle but it is very subdued. I think the skirt is neutral enough to wear with a colored top but I also think it will look great with a neutral. It goes with basically every solid color in my closet. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Marietta & Lia: Thanks so much! The skirt sounds absolutely beautiful!

  68. I stopped by the Mall of America store yesterday and left with an arm full!

I bought the denim pixie "jeggings" for $50. Never thought I'd be wearing jeggings but they are really cute.

    Also bought:
--the rhinestone dotted tank top for $15 (lots available)
--the sequin ribbon sash for $10 (last one)
--the silk tank with twisted trim for $20 (they had many of these in all colors)
--black ribbon and rhinestone necklace for $10 (lots available)

Big sale area with lots left even late in the day Saturday so go check it out!

  69. Emily,

I used to make out like a bandit at MOA as well when I lived in MN. Was at my local little store this weekend and did look through the sale section. Lots of tees and tanks and a few skirts but nothing I had to have.

It was fun just to look as I did not use my white card as was out of the country during that time period for work and just too busy with family events.

I did buy that same silk sash you mentioned. Last one left in my store too:)

  73. Thanks all for the feedback on Boden. If I am usually a 4 in J Crew, maybe a 6 if the cut is poor, would this translate to Boden's new sizing?

I didn't visit J Crew this weekend, was sucked in by the Gap offering 45% off all day Saturday. The merino v-necks there seem nice.

At Express, check out their coats, some are very cute! There is a peacoat, longer, with tiered layers at the bottom, very cute. Was on sale, now is back to $198, but will likely go on sale again soon.

Wore my J Crew bootcut vintage stretch cords this weekend is Dusty Orchid, LOVE THEM. Now I get the quality difference. They did not overly stretch out like the Gap's pants do. Now I want the skinny cords with zippers from J Crew, waiting for a sale!
