Darlings, is it time for a coupon code?

Yes, it is that wonderful time!

"Thanks!" to Mia, shopalot, wellfedfred, sun in seattle, & riley (in this post), as well as Heather (in this post), who let us know the following codes:
  • Free shipping on orders of $100+ with promo code SHIP100. This offer expires 8/11/10.
  • Free shipping on orders of $125+ with promo code SHIP125. This offer expires 8/11/10.
  • Free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code SHIP150. This offer expires 8/11/10.
  • Free shipping on orders of $175+ with promo code SHIP175. This offer expires 8/11/10.
What is interesting is that the offer depends on which computer, and even which internet browser you are using. For example, I did not see any offer except for the Crewcuts one (as shown in the image above) on my computer while using Firefox. However, after reading about the codes, I checked out JCrew.com with IE and saw the SHIP175 offer on top of the homepage.

Now I have to check J.Crew's homepage in different browsers and computers to see the best offer?!? Boo! ;) Incidentally, if J.Crew's system is this sophisticated (enough to determine which user is getting which offer based on computer and internet browser), how about removing the ghost pages from the Sale section. Don't tease us with false availability J.Crew! ;)

Thank goodness this community is so helpful and continuously shares so much! Otherwise, I would not have known about this latest marketing trick technique. :)

  3. Heather: Thanks for the new code! I just updated the post and main page with it. :)

AppGal: I know! What a low minimum compared to the usual. Yey! :)

Heidi: I think the code with the lower min will work for you too. :)

  5. I've got 4 things from FS in my cart and am about to pull the trigger with free shipping but am wondering what you gals think...will JC do another % off FS? The stuff I want is in full supply, so I'm doubtful it will disappear too quickly. Thoughts?

  7. For those of you whose states are doing tax-free weekends this weekend, I would hold off placing an order until that is in effect. The tax-free status should apply to your online order, per CS.

  8. Oh, I was so excited that perhaps this would be an extra% off coupon... I have been keeping my cart filled with the few things I eant, waiting to pull the trigger as soon as one comes along! Any ideas when we might see one?

  9. Alexis - I use IE. I went to the JC website 4 different times, and each time I received a FS ship code for a different amount.... first 175, then 150, 125 and last 100. So weird!

  10. Marietta- I had a similar experience. This morning, no shipping code, but I really didn't have time to look at anything, then, early afternoon, scanning through the new stuff, I noticed free shipping on $125, then later, I looked up a sweater and it was free shipping on $100-all on IE, all on the same computer. Just now doing a little post prandial blog reading on my husband's computer and it's free shipping on $150, IE no less. I wonder if they're dropping the FS number depending on how many hits they are getting from us, hoping that if they drop the amount we'll be more likely to buy? I guess they'll be doing crop circles next.

  12. I thought everyone might find this interesting, something we don't always think about but it clearly permeates our consciousness and body image. Also, the shirt does look different, the ruffles more pronounced. Think of how many times you get an item that isn't quite what you were hoping for. In this era of computers, we always have to wonder about representation:

  13. Thanks for the update. I was perusing the site and didn't it.

I viewed JC through IE and FF (multiple times) and the FS code was always for $150.

  14. Sorry if this is a repeat but they are also offering 20% off all women's shorts - prices as marked.

I noticed as of right now, all of the women's shorts are not marked down 20%, as stated in the blurb on the site. Oversight or what??

  15. Ship150 on my screen...seems to be the *norm* for me. I haven't gotten a $100 minimum code in a very long time.

  17. I feel cheated that JCrew would pull a dirty trick like this. I thought everyone visiting the JCrew website would get the same universal code for the shipping amount. It's always been SHIP150 for me.

Without your wonderful blog I wouldn't have known it.

  18. No free shipping code for me (only the usual Crewcuts) and I am on IE. I don't think that it's intentional though. I think that they are just bad at IT. It must be a side effect of the update on fs.

  19. Thanks for the bit about the free shipping. SHIP150 didn't work, but SHIP125 did and saved me $14+.
