Family Circle Loves J.Crew Too!

A big "thanks!" to Desert Flower, who not only let us know about several J.Crew items being spotted in the latest issue of Family Circle, but also scanned the image for us to view! (Click on the image to see it larger.)

The article actually features an entire outfit using J.Crew pieces. The article shares the following insight too:
Skinny white denim jeans are the quintessential pants of summer. We've picked these skinnies from J.Crew for their clean, polished white-washed look. With a touch of stretch, they give in all the right places. We also like their ease a the hip and super-straight leg.

{Get the Look} J.Crew's matchstick denims are perfect for that polished-prep feel. Balance your Skinny jeans with a soft top in a pretty color. The boyfriend-cardi keeps the line long and lean, and the coordinating pink accessories take this look from basic to bold.
I love the outfit featured! It is so clean and classic with its tank, cardi, and pants combo. There is also just the right amount of accessories. Although the necklaces are layered, they aren't done in a crazy, tangled way, that is often times shown in the catalog. ;)

What are your thoughts on the outfit featured? Do you like the sytling? What are your thoughts on the advice for wearing skinny white jeans? Agree or disagree? :)

  1. I saw this and the styling is super bland. However, we *are* talking Family Circle. It's just funny given the contrast of this w/the continuing Grey Gardens look we saw for FA2010. Love how they show the sold out Lolly clutch. ;-)

  2. 20% off knits & tees + free shipping on them as well thru Sun, 5/9.

  3. I totally HEART the lolly mini-bag. I used the orange one the entire time I was in Vegas. It is great for just the essentials, id, cc, cell phone, lip gloss, and a couple of dollars. :) I loved that it was cross body--definitely helps when security is on your mind.

  4. I don't think this is bland. It is chic and elegant.

    Pretty outfit...

  5. Cute outfit! I like the combo of pinks (one of my favorite colors) with white.

  6. I love white jeans and I like skinny jeans, but the combination scares me just a little bit. I have yet to find a pair that don't make me look (and feel) like a bratwurst (i.e. white sausage).

  7. I was pretty surprised to see J. Crew in Family Circle. Just goes to show you how broad their appeal really is.

New arrivals on the website now, some nice new prints!

  9. I'm curious to try out this outfit. My La Porte blouse should be arriving today.
    Wow, JCrew is EVERYWHERE!

  10. Thanks gigiofca!!! Scored some basic tees with free shipping :)

  11. Snatched up 2 knit items this morning that were both popbacks, but 20% didn't come off (boo). I also tried adding a necklace to my cart and it made a $5.95 shipping charge appear. No thanks! So I deleted the necklace. :-P

Also wanted to add that I picked up a pair of the broken-in boyfriend shorts in-store yesterday and I really like them! Very comy. I hope I can find more for less than $34.99 a pair....

  12. That outfit actually looks a lot like something I'd wear to the office during our casual part of the year--yikes, Family Circle!

Perused the new items and absolutely nothing grabbed me. My pocketbook is grateful. It's a chilly spring here so it is hard to think about summer clothes anyway.

  13. Elaine,
Yes, on the last tee shirt promo around April 11th or so you had to add the tee discount with a code at checkout so I was able to score several of the sale tees with 20% off on top. This time the fine details say the tees are already marked.

  14. The set looks pretty overall but I did not care for the La Porte blouse when I got it. It was just OK and if I am not WOWED I know I will not wear it so it is going back this weekend esp. for the $60 price tag...I would rather have the collection lilac blouse that just got marked down to $69.99 yesterday.

  16. To Leader Girl: if you mention the 20% knits and tees promotion in a store, they should honor it ... they do at my store in PA, anyway!

  17. It seems crazy to me that they are adding shipping when you put additonal items in your cart along with a knit on promo. I put a knit dress in my card and the shipping was free, I added a $10 tote bag and they wanted to charge me shipping! It's a total disincentive to buy more. Now not only am I not buying the dress or the tote, I'm not buying anything else I had my eye on!

  18. Leader Girl, I've been there several times and heard people ask and told that the promo was online only. I guess my response would be that I would order from the red phone instead. Maybe you can get lucky and get someone to honor it. :)

  19. Math Teacher, are you in the Charleston area or am I thinking of someone else. We're going to be in town next week. Does your Crew carry shoes or handbags? Lots of new things or do they get picked over quickly? TIA!

  20. I wanted to take a moment, although it's been said here before, to thanks this community of ladies and gentlemen and Alexis for this blog. I allow myself a full-priced J. Crew purchase one or twice a season, for items I LOVE. Generally, however, my wardrobe is made up of J. Crew sale, more affordable crewcuts, and lovely additions from all of your closets. I wouldn't be able to justify the output of money for most of my clothes if they weren't $15 tees, $30 sweaters and affordable pieces that you all offer up every week on this blog.

I get daily complements on the clothes I wear at my children's school, where I also sub, and I wouldn't be able to have so many lovely things if it weren't for you all.

I appreciate you all!! I know this is corny, but I am able to smile without guilt when I look into my closet and that is one simple pleasure that I can take for myself without feeling selfish for taking it!! (All you Mom's out there, and probably many others of you, know what I'm talking about.)

Thanks!! I hope I am able to return the favor along the way.

  21. OT - For anyone interested in the navy piped and twisted cardigan item 26139, Tommy Hilfiger has a very similar style that looks much more refined IMO. The fabric is 92% cotton, 8% cashmere and incredibly soft, thicker than the see-through J.Crew sweater. And it's on sale for $50 as opposed to the $88 J.Crew version.

    http://usa.tommy.com/tommy/browse/productDetailWithPicker.jsp?productId=1M80334558&categoryId=1M03&parentCategoryId=

I bought the TH one today since I was on the fence about the J.Crew version, which will now be going back. I was disappointed that the piping was not true white but the Tommy one is definitely white and looks really crisp.

And... if you like cotton sweaters, knit dresses and argyle, Benetton had 30% off FP merch, which included a lot of the above. Nice colors and preppy styles.

  22. Heather, I am in the Charleston area and be prepared to sweat! :D I think our spring is over. Our b&m carry some shoes and very few bags. Sorry. They used to carry more, then all shoes were pulled, and now they're slowly coming back. Right now it's mainly sandals and ballet flats. I hope you enjoy your visit while here. If you do decide to visit JC while you're here, ask for Billy - he's the best! If he's not there, try Ashley. She's my 2nd favorite, although Billy is my ps.

  23. Math Teacher, thanks for the information, and I will ask for him! Our store doesn't carry any shoes or bags, save for a canvas tote here or there. I'm in TN and it was almost 90 today; I hate summer. ;) Too bad for me!

  24. Nichi, I am with you 200%!! I am a sale rack hound as well -- I think I'd go into convulsions if I bought anything full-price at J Crew ... and I do wish it wasn't that way, but that's my financial reality. And I love, love, love this blog and all the gals on it who each bring something different to the experience. I LOVE clothes, but somehow am unable to style myself. All the ladies here have been so helpful, even if it's by posting their OOTD on their blogs so I can get ideas for myself.

Thanks everyone! And I sure am missing Alexis, will be happy when she returns to our happy little family!

  25. Nichi & Elaine: You are so sweet! Thanks to you too for making this community so great. :)
