Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this HALLOWEEN weekend to see what's available in the early Fall sale, or to see some new Fall arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Question-

How much are you seeing matchstick cords go for now in store?

    Thanks!

  2. My Fiance needs a new coat, so we might stop by a J.Crew.

  3. I paid $29.99 for matchsticks at the b&m last weekend. Only certain colors are marked down. I purchased Warm Sandalwood. I think either Soft Ochre and/or Glazed Pecan were also $29.99. I'm not a fan of purples but I can't wait for Weathered Wisteria to go down in price. The cords are so pretty in person.

  4. o/t: Martin & Osa is offering all cords for $39.50 and 50% off all shirts this weekend.

  5. Carleen, I bought warm sandalwood for $29.99 and eucalyptus for $39.99 last week.

  6. I went yesterday to return the floral perfect shirt and a few crewcuts that didn't fit DS.

You can always tell when we are due for a new rollout as it gets pretty quiet around here... We need new items to discuss!

    Have a good weekend, everyone.

  7. kitsmommy,
What did you not like about the floral perfect shirts? Just got mine and not sure???? Thanks

  8. If anyone goes to an Crewlet, can you let me know if they stock any:
    1) Tartine sweaters?
    2) Melanie button cuff sweaters?

My mom's friend loved my sweater and she's unfortunately a lot smaller than me, so I'd like to pick one up for her.

    Thanks!

  9. For those who are interested in the Forever cardigan ($89.50 item 18169), AT has an almost exact version (Merino Long Cardigan), that is currently on promo for $39.50 from $90. Online only has heather grey and black available, but I saw many other colors at their b&m yesterday. Picked up the heather grey and aubergine (which I am wearing today). They won't let you use a % off coupon on this as it is considered a promo, but $39.50 is a steal, IMO.

  10. Genny,

My shirt had a ton of loose threads and I honesty did not feel that the fabric quality or workmanship looked that great for the money. I usually love J Crew perfect shirts but not this one.

I picked up a printed black and gray legacy silk blouse from Ann Taylor instead of this. It gave me the look I was hoping this one would and was less expensive and beautifully made.

  11. Marietta, I got that cardigan and it is awesome! AT also has an open cardigan that is very cute and also on promo for $39.50 - I'm wearing it today with a wide belt and matchsticks. Very happy with AT's offerings this fall!

I may go give JC a peek today as I'd like to see the matchstick cords in person. :)

  12. Kitsmommy - that black and gray legacy silk blouse from AT is on promo for $39.50 now, so if you paid full price I would check about a price adjustment.

  13. Thanks Marietta, but I bought it on promotion and with the ITALY30 code, so it was not very expensive at all. It is lovely.

I also have to rave about their shorter merino cardis with the rhinestone buttons. The colors are great and they fit me perfectly.

  14. Kitsmommy,
    Thanks.
Mine does not have a ton of loose threads on the exterior but I think the finished stitching inside was pretty poor and sloppy. Like you mentioned the quality could be better. Thanks for your reply. I will keep looking too.

  15. I am not an Ann Taylor shopper so please bear with me...is there a difference between Ann Taylor and Ann Taylor Loft?

I mean, I basically solely shopped JCrew for years. I need to get out more:)and JCrew is loosing its excitement for me.

  16. I think I am going to pass on going to JC this weekend...will hold out until Tuesday when new arrivals hit the floor.

  17. OT, looking for some size advice on the wool-blend rib tights.

I take a size 4-6 pant, can anyone tell me if the S/M or the M/L would be the best fit for these tights? I seem to recall reading that the sizing was way off in J.Crew tights. Would really appreciate some help figuring it out.

    TIA!

  18. Genny - there is a slight difference. AT is what I consider more high end, with ATL carrying similar pieces, but at a lesser price point and quality, IMO. I have been a fan of AT for years, especially this year, whereas ATL has been more or less hit or miss for me. You should definitely check them both out. They also offer great coupons/promotions, so you can walk out of there with some great pieces at a steal! Right now AT's current cpupon is ITALY30, which is 30% off orders over $200 (which is even better if they are running a promo, like they did over a week ago for 30% off tops/sweaters, where you automatically get the 30% off, plus another 30% for using the coupon). Valid through 11/16/09.

  19. Can someone report back on full length chinos if they see any in a size 8 on sale. Looking for a casual alternative to jeans. Thanks

  20. ShuLvr --> I have the tights and got the S/M (I wear a size 4 pant and am 5'5"). They fit fine for me, haven't had any size issues.

    HTH.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks for the sizing info Cliquot. I'm 5'9" so I'm a little concerned that the S/M may be too short. There is zero sizing information for the legwear online and I've emailed erica@jcrew.com for clarification but haven't heard back. Maybe I'll just go for it, I have thin legs so hopefully my height won't be a problem.

Do you find them quite comfortable, are they itchy at all?

    ReplyDelete
  22. My local J. Crew just called to remind me to use my rewards card and indicated they were expecting shipment of holiday clothes on Monday!

    ReplyDelete
  23. ShuLvr, we are the same size... I am 5'9" and wear a 4. I have tons of JCrew tights, wool and regular. I always get M/L, just for the length. There's nothing worse than the legs not being long enough.. sooo uncomfortable!

  24. Marietta and Silver Lining: I bought the AT cardigan at 40% off full price a month ago. LOVE! Incredible quality, great length, works with absolutely everything. I am going this weekend to scowl for other colors!

....and it's not final sale. Who would have thunk, J. crew?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Genny, I wish you'd asked that earlier this week, or that I'd thought to ask! I went into AT and bought a sweater, my first purchase there, and asked the saleswoman the same thing! I felt a bit on the silly side, but she was nice about it. AT had an extra 40% off sale prices and the store was packed, JC had the sale old sale stuff, no percent off and a few people milling around. They should really bring back the extra percent off instore, especially around the holidays, they'd move more merch for sure. I usually go crazy for JC during fall and winter. This is the first year in ages that I'm spending most of my clothing budget elsewhere. On that note, Anthro bought back free shipping on orders over $150 until December 23. The discount is automatically applied when you link your Anthro card number to your account, and the card is free.

  26. I'm going to wait until the new arrivals are on the floor before I make a trip, so no...I won't be going this weekend. :)

  27. Hello Ladies!

SELLING the FRENCH SERGE DAY COAT (size 4) for $250. It has never ever been worn (was too big and I decided not to invest in expensive tailoring) and it comes from a smoke-free home. This is the gorgeous coat with the bow at the neck and it is a saffron color.

    Thanks,

  28. If anyone sees the Boys Heavyweight Shawl Collar Pullover in size 8 in a B&M please let me know so I can call and buy it. It pops back ocassionally online but then disappears just as fast. Thank you!

  29. Slightly OT: Does J. Crew usually due a percentage off outerwear like their recent shoe promotion? I feel like they did last year but I don't remember when...any info would be much appreciated :)

    And Happy Halloween!

  30. Hey, I went three days ago to the JCREW store in Roseville, CA, at the Galleria Mall and bought 4 crystal bangles for 4.99 USD each ( they were 25.99 ) and some cute long socks for 2.99 USD ( bought 3 pairs). The thing is the prices were not marked down. But when the cashier scan them, she told me them went down! I was happy!!!

  31. When I visited Liberty Place today, cashmere crewneck tees in select colors were marked down to $69.99 from $145...picked one up in sweet guava :) They also had a round of markdowns on jewelry, including the crystal symphony bracelet for $29.99 and the jeweled garland necklace. I didn't check how much the garland necklace cost but it was the last one in the store.

The jewelry markdowns aren't official until tomorrow but most apparently sold out today.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Thanks Lucy for the update on the jewelry. Maybe I'll take a peak tomorrow now...

Out of curiosity, do you know which symphony bracelet was marked down? I think there was a pumpkin and crystal color. TIA!

  33. I think both colors might have been marked down, but they were sold out of the crystal color bracelet.

  34. I went to the J Crew Factory store today. The had solid Jackies for $29.99 and some other v-neck merinos with jeweled buttons for 40% off (of $69.50 I think). They had all clearance an extra 30% off and graphic tees were 20% off regular price.

I didn't see much I liked. They had the new candy tees and several silk applique tees. I used my rewards card on a slate grey silk applique tee that had a plum rose on the front which PERFECTLY matched the plum merino rose cardigan from 2008.

Other than that, most of what I tried on went back on the shelves. They said they have new stock coming around the 10th or 11th.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Hey Nichi,

Did you notice which color jackies the outlet is currently carrying?

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Love2shop4bags,

I didn't look too closely to color names as I wasn't in the market for one for myself. The ones I can remember are the typical neutrals, a tan, slate, emerald green, deep aqua, turqouise, plum, burgundy and a red. There were a couple of floral prints, but I didn't look close enough to tell you what they were.
