Madewell Email: Plaid shirtdress (it's a fall thing)

"Thanks!" to Marietta, who shared the following email/ promotion from Madewell (click here).

The email features their Plaid Shirtdress. The dress is described as "part shirt, part dress—and completely cool over jeans or leggings" and retails for $98. I am a big fan of the shirt dress (refer to the August 14th post "J.Crew and the Shirtdress {success!}")— but not this version. It's a lot more shirt, than dress. I prefer the opposite. ;)

Moreover, they are offering 15% off purchases for students at their stores. To redeem the promotion, just show your student ID.

What are your thoughts on the Plaid Shirt Dress? Do you like or dislike the style? Would you pay $98 for this item?

  1. how is that a dress? it just barely grazes her hips! a plaid shirt for &98 -- definitely not for me.

  2. This is a cute look and all, but it's in every store, low and high for fall and on every high schooler I see. I don't care to look like a 13 year old, most especially for $98!

  3. it's definitely more of a shirt and i agree with you alexis, i prefer something that's more dress. i wouldn't pay $98 for a shirt like this, especially since other stores are selling similar shirt/dresses for less.

  4. MCC said it all. You can score this identical look at virtually every other store in the mall. Why on earth would you pay $98 when it looks exactly like the one for $49 at American Eagle, or $29 at Target?
