J.Crew Email: New styles added to final sale. In stores and online.

"Thanks!" to Marietta who let us know about J.Crew's latest email from today.

J.Crew is letting us know that new styles have been added to their final sale, both online (click here) and in stores. There was an increase of sale items, as well as pop-backs, at today's sale update. However, a lot of JCAs (including myself) have noticed that the brick & mortar (B&M) stores have sent back most of their sale items.

Also, as mentioned in a post from July 26 ("J.Crew Is On Facebook {let's be friends!}"), J.Crew is on Facebook (click here). Well, as shown in this email... J.Crew is on Twitter too (click here)! There are lots of great updates/ news/ information from J.Crew's Twitter account. :)

Are you planning to check out J.Crew's Final Sale section? Are there any items you are suprised to see on sale? Will you follow J.Crew's Twitter & Facebook sites (if you haven't already)? :)

  1. I was about to buy a few items, but I couldn't justify the $17.50 in shipping costs. It just doesn't make sense to me the amount they charge for shipping. I have been buying more at Anthro because of their free shipping. I bought 2 items from them instead.

  2. Kalimarie, I agree with you about the shipping. On top of that, I wasn't impressed by the "new styles" added to sale... I really didn't see anything that excited me except for the cord mini which I will probably pick up in-store at that price.

OT I need help - just received my Falling-petals jacket in the mail yesterday. From the bust up it fits wonderfully, ruffles and all, but on the bottom, when you look at me from the side I look like I have a pregnant belly! The ruffles are just fluffing it out at the bottom way too much. Any suggestions for how to fix this? Naturally it's final sale, my favorite...

  3. This email really should be titled "We've added all the items we couldn't unload in stores to our on-line final sale. It's your gamble." :-D

  4. There are a couple of items that popped back that I am super-interested in, but I'm still not able to hit the trigger...uh! I hate ordering when there is no promotion code! Why do they do that...plus, like several other JCAs said, the shipping is just OUTRAGEOUS.

  5. I bought a few things this am...the cafe capris (charcoal) and cocktail capris (sea green) were $19.99, the silk flower shell (weathered stone) for $29.99, and the nautical striped tee (navy) for $19.99. A few great deals to be had!

  6. Yeay ! The Jakarta halter dress is marked down..
All i need is an extra20 promotion right now :-)

  7. I'm waiting for a free shipping code or % off. If the items are gone, it doesn't matter too much since I'm saving up for fall items...

Btw, has anyone tried the silk flower shell..if they fit TTS? Whenever I'm ordering a "classic fit" I don't know whether to size down or just order my regular size.

About JC on Twitter... I don't follow but maybe I should.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I've got to agree with everyone else. Unless they offer an extra % off or maybe free shipping, I'm not going to buy anything. There are a few things in my bag, but I'm trying to wait it out.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I hate that they base the shipping on the cost of the order. Even if you just order a teeny little bikini top you have to pay so much $$$.

Anyway, the Francie skirt finally popped back in my size, so I ordered that. I hope it fits - I haven't quite figured out my skirt/pant size with J. Crew. Now just have to figure out what to do with the one I already ordered that is too big.

  11. I don't see anything that exciting this morning. Definitely nothing worth the hassle of shipping $ and the gamble of FS. I'm holding on to my rewards card until a Fall item catches my eye.

  12. does anyone know anything about the linen sweater-jacket (item 15906)?

  13. Ditto, I have a cart-full of things but will not buy them until I get a free shipping code. It's just not worth it...

  15. Totally OT-

Does anyone watch the show Army Wives? On Sunday's show, Catherine Bell's character, Denise Sherwood, was wearing the cotton medallion top from JCrew. I think it's a bit strange that I am starting to recognize JC's clothes on TV...

  16. I'm such a sucker for J. Crew sweaters on sale. I've been wanting the cotton v-neck in copper (great fall color!) and they didn't have it in a medium, but lo and behold, I checked this morning after I got the "new items added" email and they had it! I was also sucked in to buying the same sweater in tea rose--come on--$19.99?!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Are stores still doing an extra 20% off?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Chanel Fashionista - Much if not all of the sale merchandise at the B&Ms was shipped out last week, so likely not.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Does anyone know if there is a review on the silk flower tank? TIA I don't want to pull the trigger and get another ill fitting item. Is this top TTS? I took a 4 in the strati, but I took a 0 in the garland cami. Go figure!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I didn't notice too many new items added...I was tempted by some new cashmere but I didn't succumb. I'm saving my pennies for a schmancy new lady bag on ebay...

  21. Katelyn -- I have the linen sweater jacket and love it -- I took it to the beach this summer a couple times and it's really nice in the evenings when it gets breezy. These days, I leave it in the car just in case I need to run into a place with crazy air conditioning. You can wear it with shorts, jeans, dresses. I have the one in navy -- I ordered the other color this morning since it's on sale!

    ReplyDelete
  22. thanks Priya Cherry! How is the sizing with it?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Any advice on sizing on the ruffle hem dress? I'm pear shaped, so if the skirt isn't fairly full I should probably size up. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hi all,

Well, I was a little exited about this email. Until I tried to actually find any of the items I've been stalking. Is it me, or are some of them hiding?

For example; if you search in skirts they show a sale on the 120s - when you click on it it's back to the full price colours. However, if you search suiting, then the sale price teal & rose pop up. Also if you search by name, like "jackie sweaters", sale price is shown but only links to FP... Yet you can find the sale price colours w some effort. It's like they want us to hunt around for things. I don't mind, but it seems like the system rewards folks who know the site & have the time to search over the casual shopper. FS pricing isn't THAT great.

Anyone else curious about some items going into FS so quickly? I was a little surprised that the mini cords are already there. Like Katelyn, I also thought about buying the linen sweater jacket. However, it hasn't even made it to my local B&M to try on. Not sure if I want to commit to a FS item sight unseen.

***SIGH*** Jcrew, sometimes you REALLY confuse me.

Good luck out there fellow JCAs & JCOs hope you find something fab,

    Heather:D

    ReplyDelete
  25. I thought it fit TTS -- I ordered a XS (which is my size) and it fits right.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I agree w Katelyn,

Thanks Priya Cherry! I appreciate the review. It sounds like a great go-to piece.

Could you answer one more question? How's the fabric feel? Whenever I see "linen" I worry that it will wrinkle horribly & I will look like a rumpled mess in a few seconds :}. I'm hoping that since it's a knit, it might be more resilient.

    TIA,

    Heather:D

  27. I too was waiting for a coupon code and didnt pull the trigger yesterday when there were some pop-backs that I wanted. I checked my cart this a.m. and of course one of them was gone. So I pulled the trigger today w/o a code. I hate the lack of free shipping so now when I purchase w/o a code I have to have a least 2 items to justify my purchase. So now I divide the shipping cost per item and then decide if its even worth the purchase per item.

    ReplyDelete
  28. This is completely off topic, but I finally had a chance to try the things I ordered from the Banana Republic Friends and Family sale, and I have to rave about the following items:

    http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=16814&vid=1&pid=671304

    http://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?searchCID=25789&pid=673652&scid=673652002&vid=-1

I am obsessed with ruffles and this blouse is one of the best quality items I have purchased in a while. The cardigan is heavy enought to use in place of a jacket and the wool is super think and soft. These are both exceptional pieces and both are cute with my new J Crew pencil skirt.

    ReplyDelete
  29. There are definitely items I would purchased right away (many in my shopping cart) but even if I am getting a "deal" in the sale, I just can't justify that high shipping cost. I certainly hope that J CREW will realize how much business is there ONLY if it makes sense to the customer. Too many other good deals out there.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I was excited to see a few items I'd been waiting to go on sale actually go on sale today, but I'm still holding out for a free shipping and/or percent-off coupon. Think we'll get one soon?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ditto here - I have a basket of things I would buy - but I refuse to pay the shipping costs. Nope. Not gonna do it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Has anyone been following the Ikat Monteray skirt (blush patterned one) and know whether there are popbacks for this one in smaller sizes?? Does it run TTS? Anyone selling theirs?
    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, somebody's buying the FS items b/c I had 3 items just disappear from my cart in the last hour. Still waiting for a sale promo too...

    ReplyDelete
  34. I didn't see anything that was added that I had to have. I'm on the same Anthro boat as Kalimarie! That free shipping on anything is killer. I am decidedly NOT looking forward to that promo ending.
The other things I love about Anthro is the no time limit on returns, and the free Anthro card that tracks all of your purchases in case you lose your receipt.

When I look at where my clothes money has gone the last few months, I see a definite trend. The only big purchases from JC were with % off and free ship, and most of the rest went to Anthro because of the free ship. It used to be I would only order from them a few time a year because of their high shipping rates, now the worm has definitely turned.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The linen jacket feels really nice....it was the first time that I had bought a linen sweater. I have skirts/tops which always need to be ironed, but being a knit material, it's actually quite resilient. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ironed it once -- it holds it's shape really well. And, it's not super thin -- it's got material, but is very airy. Hope that helps :)

    ReplyDelete
  36. bug pin, i have the ikat monterey skirt--i bought a size 2 which is my usual size. i think the sizing on this skirt is kinda subjective! it's elastic (with a drawstring to tighten it up a bit) so honestly, i feel like you can down a size and be totally fine...that said, i feel like the montereys are meant to be a bit slouchy, plus i like to wear them a bit lower on my hips so just took my usual size.
as for this morning's FS update, i couldn't help myself and gave in to the ridiculous shipping fees. didn't get any of the new markdowns though--just got lucky with a couple of older popbacks that i'd been stalking!

    ReplyDelete
  37. What is the Anthro free ship code??!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Cass -- if you have an anthro card (it's the yellow card they have by the register in-store, it's NOT a credit card) and link it to your online account with anthro you get free shipping on all your orders through sept. 7.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Cass - there is no free ship code. You have to link your yellow Anthro card to your online account, and it automatically deducts the shipping charges. I think the free shipping is through September, but am not exactly sure when it expires this time around. You can apply for the yellow Anthro card (it's not a cc) at their stores.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've been buying a lot at Anthro this summer too because of the free shipping! I love that when something pops back I can snag it and not pay $18 just to have it sent to me.

  42. Nothing too enticing for me on FS. One item I want was reduced by ten bucks, not enough to draw me in as it is still available in every size and color, I can wait.

I noticed there are a number of Fiona jackets as well as a few sizes/colors of Aubrey, Ecole and a Clea.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I bought a pair of cocktail capris - figured 19.99 plus $6 shipping wasn't bad since I love the pair that I already have. I added a full price crewcuts ring and asked for the teacher discount on the ring. I even mentioned that I knew I couldn't get it on the capris since they were sale. However, when I checked my email (after I got home from school), they gave me the discount on the capris as well. Had I known that, I would have got another pair. As for the other sale items I want, I will wait for a code since they haven't received a huge markdown.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I already checked out the final sale (plus some new arrivals). I got about $700 worth of stuff online. When it arrived, hardly any of it fit!! I haven't changed shape much myself, but I started wearing a J Crew size "medium" in high school, then I became a "small". A few years ago I became an "XS". Now I can't wear their clothes anymore apparently. This size inflation stuff is so frustrating!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. No more shorts or polos for me till next spring/summer. I just received an order this week, all new items. A tie, chinos and a fleece. The classic fit chinos (actually all the classic fit J.Crew pants) are the perfect fit for me. The desert olive colour is much more gray in person.

Looking forward to wearing them with the tie this fall. I know it's still smoking hot out, but fall clothes are the best especially when the leaves begin to turn and the days are just a little crisp out. Too bad fall is so short, it's the best season.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I bought several suits as I am starting a new job. I bought the stretch wool suits which don't seem to be in stock. The navy pinstripe is nearly sold out and is being phased out along with the solid navy. But I already own the pencil skirts and some of the pants so I bit the bullet and payed over $1000 for the jackets and one pair of pants--very expensive but necessary purchase. However, I had to eat the cost of tax $50 and the $18 shipping which was a total of $70.00---crazy. I was afraid that if I waited for the extra 20% off or free shipping the rest of the suit peices would be sold out in my size. Jcrew why are you getting rid of the stretch wool suting? :( The super 120's pencil skirts don't fit me as nicely :(.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Cass, you can also sign up for the Anthro card online. Put in "anthro card" in the search box, and the sign up is the fifth item on the menu of the page the search brings you to. Then they send it to you in the mail. If you called to sign up, they'd probably be able to link your card number to the account right away if you want the free shipping. HTH!

PS, sorry everyone for being so anthro-holic today! It's just with the free shipping and how quick I've been getting orders from them, I can't stop singing their praises. I'm a big dork, I know.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I'd also like the add though that the stretch wool suting I do own is gorgeous, comfortable and gets me lots of compliments. The wool is also lightweight which is good for DC extreme summer heat!

  50. maryamjan - the superfine cotton and super 150's suiting has stretch from the nature of the weave. They are very comfortable pieces, although the cotton seems to be a summer item with dwindling stock and the super 150's seems to be trousers only, no matching jackets. I've been watching and waiting for a super 150's pinstripe jacket to go with my pants but so far, no luck. The black 150's pants may match with the super 120's jackets.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I agree with everyone that commented on the outrageous shipping rate and the FS items. Was very surprised to see the cord mini on sale already too! It's still summer! Or did they just get a super cheap deal on those and need to unload the extras? I am holding out for a 20% off sale or some kind of free shipping promo code as well! Hopefully there will be one soon? I have a feeling maybe around middle of the month since it is paycheck time for alot of people?

By the way, does anyone have the Stretch wool Isabel dress or have you seen any reviews on this? Item 16630. I have been eyeing that since it came out! It's super cute and it's on sale now!

    ReplyDelete
  52. pixelant - I LOVE the isabel dress! I have never seen my body look so good in a dress. I just wish I worked in an environment that warranted that kind of dress. I'm keeping an eye on it and hoping it makes it to super markdown in my size since I wouldn't wear it very often.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Kristi -- I would SIZE DOWN in the ruffle hem dress. I am also pear shaped but the skirt is full. I am COMPLETELY EXCITED that the Elodie Leather sandals are finally on sale. But, without EXTRA20 or FREESHIP, I am reluctant to pull the trigger. Why, J. Crew...why?

    ReplyDelete
  54. I have the Isabel dress in navy and gray and I love it! It fits TTS. I have seen it styled over the button-up slim shirt and I may wear it this way in the winter. It is a very flattering dress!

  55. Ladies, What do you think is the chance of a promo code in the next few days? It's been a while...I've been holding off on my order for a 20%off coupon but it's so hard!

  56. Waiting for a shipping code too. Sigh.

Has anyone tried the ripstop cargo pants in petite or regular? How are the fitting?

I am dying for the dream Anton sweater. Although I am a little nervous about the cuffs stretching out. Am I worrying for nothing? Anyone seen the Anton? I am looking for the perfect Navy blue casual sweater.

Also are the Minnie pants TTS? As you can see I need a shipping code so I can try these things out.

    ReplyDelete
  57. There are a few items i would purchase, even though they are FS, but high shipping costs negate the sales discount. The items are cute, but since i don't really need anything, I'll wait until a more competitive free shipping code or discount is offered.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thanks @mathteacher & @ms.Jenner!

I went back to the site to get the Stretch Isabel dress. My size is gone now :(
Guess I should have bought it earlier :/

  59. I know the canvas catelier jacket has been out for awhile now, but I never tried it on instore...can anyone comment on how the atelier jacket fits in comparison to the fiona? I was wondering if they are a similar fit in regards to the boxiness and if I would need the same size for both.

  60. Anyone have information on the embroidered linen shift dress (Item 15201)?

    TIA

  61. The Little Red Bean Pancake, the fit of the rip-stop cargos is slimmer in the leg than the versions of the past couple years. I read that on this blog and find it to be true as well and I have skinny legs. I did buy a couple pairs, they fit OK and I do wear them but they are not nearly as comfortable or flattering as the older styles. The fabric is not very soft either, it feels like it has a nylon component but the tag says 100% cotton.

Overall not a bad casual pant but not a winner either. The current price of $29.99 is about right.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Went to my B&M today, and not much on sale! University Village in Seattle.

    But. . .
the downtown field jacket is great. The xs is, shall we say, "generous," as others have said. I'm either a 2 or 4 in jackets, and it was roomy but quite sweet. Looked great on others I saw in the dressing room, too. The gold buttons and zipper really do dress it up, and it's not wrinkly like the other cargo or field jackets this season. The perfect counterpoint to a skirt. The velvet Eden blazer is very, very soft and drapey. It fit me TTS in a 2. The body isn't close cut, but the shoulders were just right. It looks like it's supposed to flare out at the high-waist, or ribs. The herringbone ruffle perfect shirt was perfect. Perfect, especially, as a button-down shirt for those with larger than an A-cup. YOu know what I mean. It tucks in, stays in, and stays slim. And it's washable! Finally, the pearlized ballet flats were great. They run TTS, as opposed to most of the heels in the last few seasons, which I think run a half size small. The pink ones look more nude than anything, at least if your skin tone is light.

  63. Re: the vintage cord co-ed mini and why it's already on sale. A friend of mine tried it and said that it was *really* short. Shorter than the linen mica mini, which was too short for me, although I'm tall. I'm sure some could pull it off, maybe with tights.

  65. I have about $400 of sales stuff in my shopping cart but am holding out for a % off or free ship coupon before pulling the trigger. I guess if it disappears before this, so be it.

I know this is a jcrew blog but saw some people posting about the anthro card and wanted to give a heads up. I made a purchase at anthro a few weeks ago and the SA that rung me up did not ask me if I wanted to log the purchase on my anthro card. I guess I asked about it a little late in the purchase process but she said she could do it - she just had to return the item and then re-purchase. I thought it would be ok and got a receipt to show the transactions but as it turns out they double charged me with no return! I went back to the store and they said there was nothing they could do - I had to call my bank. I called the bank and they said the store had to re-do the return transaction. I am so frustrated with this that I will not shop at anthro again - I cannot afford it!!

  66. OT-

But BR is offering 25% off a $100 purchase when you use your BR, GAP or ON card. If you shop tonight after 5pm, it's an extra 5% off. Good until August 23. If you want a coupon, just send me an email and I'd be glad to forward it. Not a one-time use thing, so I can send it multiple times.

  68. OT -- Visited the Factory store yesterday...they had a bunch of new items come in...here are the highlights...

    1) Victoria Cami in the Watercolor Lydia print (this is the beautiful print with the oranges, violets, little yellow). I really like the fit of the cami and love the fact that they released the cami in this and the abstract rose prints.
    2) Victoria Ruffle Shirts in Blue and Black Stripes
    3) Cashmere Cardigans in Honey Glaze, Royal Violet, and a rich purple color which seems popular this fall (they had the Victoria Cami in this color a couple weeks ago, but it was all sold out this week). Had other colors too, but these were the ones I remember.
