J.Crew Email: Ends tomorrow. EXTRA 20% off sale + FREE SHIPPING.

"Thanks!" to many of you who let us know about J.Crew's latest email.

J.Crew is reminding us that they are offering an additional 20% off sale items (no minimum) and free shipping (on $150+) using promo code EXTRA20 . This offer expires tomorrow, Wednesday, 8/19/09.

I waited all day yesterday for the sale section to update (with new sale items) and never saw it happen. :( However, earlier today (around 7AM EST) the sale section did update. I wasn't able to grab any items I was hoping to see. Oh well! There's always tomorrow. :)

Are you planning to check out J.Crew's Sale Section before this offer ends tomorrow? Did you take advantage of this offer? If so, please share! :)

  1. Hello! I did grab two pairs of the stretch skinny twill pants (one in each color :) ). But, what did you mean when you said you were waiting to see a sale update? I only check out this blog occasionally, so I may be missing some lingo you guys use. Thanks!

  2. I ordered just enough to hit the free ship! Nothing too exciting, but great prices on crewcuts goodies for next year, a couple things for DH, and a linen coverup and black merino 4 pocket cardi for me. I got that multi pocket style in the featherweight cashmere, and it is really darling. The top pockets lay well on the chest and don't look funny or do anything odd to my voluptuous top half, so I figured the merino will fit the same.

OT: I have three coupons from Victorias Secret for a free panty up to $16 when you buy one of the new Body by Victoria bras. I love that it isn't limited to the plain cotton, but I tried on the new BBV and I still like the Angel line better on me. If anyone wants a coupon, email me at klg_12@hotmail.com and I'll drop one in the mail for you. (No online code for these, sorry.)

  3. jessica, almost every day JC adds new stock to the sale section. This includes adding different styles, more sizes or colors, or changing prices. You can tell when new stuff is added, or if people are buying things, by the amount of items shown when you click on a main category of the sale section (women, men, girls, boys). For example, when I checked out the sale last night, the women's category had maybe 600 some items total. I checked it out this morning for the update, and women's had maybe 900 some things, so not a bad update. This is a big sale time if you're looking for stuff you missed this summer since all the stores sent like ninety percent of their sale merchandise back to the warehouse, which means it's all being sold online now. HTH!

  4. Jessica: Congrats on the pants! Also sorry about my confusing comment. I meant to say that the sale section yesterday did not update with new sale items. :)

CheesyGoodness: Sounds like you got a lot of good items. Yey! :)

  5. CheesyGoodness: Your explanation of the sale update rocks!!! Great job! :)

  6. If the sale section is going to update, I find it's been happening around 7:50 - 8:05am. Yes, I am an addict. :)

  7. Fall News:

For those of you who may not know the stores are getting their new roll-outs this Wednesday...

ALSO, just heard the website will update with new fall items on Thursday....

  8. Well, I did get the French Terry cardigan XS in Pewter :) They're so comfy! I'm not sure if I'll decide to get the cotton scroll cardigan in navy...hmm. I'm thinking I'll get the new fall cotton cardigan with the flowers on the shoulder instead.

  9. I finally ordered those Juliet patent-leather midheels in black (item #96716) that were finally marked down to $119.99 (plus additional 20% off). Near as I can tell the black had never gone on sale until now. Also scored a pair of the Saturday pants (item #10697) in mossy shadow for $15.99 with the discount. (YAY!) Nothing else online that I want at the moment -- waiting for the next rollout this week. :)

  10. For the first time in forever, there is nothing I'm stalking in the sale area! As soon as the code expires something will pop up that I'll convince myself I need :)

  11. I finally picked up a the cashmere croquet. I figured now was a good time! Also got the collier cardigan, the rivulet cardigan, the étoile cardigan, and a few other things. I'm still stalking the site hoping for a few pop-backs. Maybe tomorrow!

  12. I lost my willpower to curb my shopping and I picked up the linen sweater-jacket in navy. I like the semi-structured menswear look of this sweater, and I think it will double as a nice work piece with a pencil skirt or pants. Overall, I thought this morning's update was a bit of a yawner. Good for my wallet, however. Hope others find some goodies on the EXTRA20!

  13. I got some cafe capri pants in petite size, Michelle & Jackie cardis, summer weight v-neck cardi, silk georgette tank, faye heels and goldwynn dress in petite size...will see how some fits as only 3 items were marked FS.

I could not believe how fast things were flying off my cart!

  14. I finally finally finally got my grenada palm cami!!! :) Yay! restocked this morning - one in my size. Now I will have to cross my fingers and see if it actually ships ;)

  15. Cashmere, cashmere, cashmere! This is my second cashmere purchase since July from J.Crew - too good to pass up! Now if the weather would just cooperate...yeesh.

  16. I have an order sitting in my cart that just hits the $150 threshold and I can't quite bring myself to pull the trigger. I think I want the silk flower tank (and what a great price!) but I can't find any info on fit, or even more importantly, transparency. I like the weathered stone color best, but I'll never wear it if it's see-through. Can anyone help?

  17. I was in front of the computer when this morning's update happened. JCrew did me a big favor by not popping back anything I had my eye on. Unfortunately I'm not strong enough to resist on my own. With my luck, everything I'm hoping for will show up on Thursday right after the 20% expires.

  18. I'm not tempted by anything, although I did look twice at the two Collection jackets that were really marked down (now gone). I couldn't pull the trigger in the end because of the anemic colors (hopefully next spring and summer will be better for my wardrobe). Thanks to the poster who mentioned the new rollout will be online Thurs. This also made me hesitant to buy now, knowing (hoping) there will be some things I have to have later this week.

I got the linen seafront cardigan a few weeks back-for anyone looking at it, I can highly recommend it. For me it is the perfect piece for either the weekend or for work. It's a great weight (a bit heavier) and lays very nicely on the body. I was hesitant to get another open cardigan, but am really pleased with this one. The dark mushroom is a great, versatile color, too.

  19. Yes, I grabbed a few items yesterday (cafe capris, soft scoopneck Ts, juliets, cotton V neck sweaters), but nothing I saw today in the update was of interest to me. I, like others, didn't see anything pop back that I've been looking for. I'm still mad I missed the metallic uptown tote in platinum gold last week.

  20. Gwen, pull the trigger. The silk flower top is a great buy at that price. Add the 20% off & you can't go wrong. I have it in all colors, everything works well with my Jcrew cardis & blazers. There is no side zipper & it's not sheer. I'm a 6 in Jcrew blouses but sized down to a 4 for this. It looks expensive & I am really puzzled this went down to as low as $30. As a buyer, I'm not complaining.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks, Marie! That's really helpful. I'm just trying to figure out the sizing, since I've never actually bought a J. Crew top before. I have a 35.5" bust and usually wear a 6 in everything, very occasionally a 4. Do you think I should size down? Sorry to be so needy, I just fear the final sale! :)

  23. Gwen, the silk flower tank in weathered stone is not see through at all. I bought the smaller of my two J Crew shirt sizes in this and it fits perfectly.

    ReplyDelete
  24. You guys are all awesome. I love JCAs!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I went true to size on the silk top being discussed. I was told it fits TTS and I got measurements first as well. I would go with your regular size esp. since there is no zipper!

    ReplyDelete
  26. PS. Gwen, I am the exact same bust measurement as you. Go with the 6. I have the navy and the stone.

  27. I picked up a ton of cute crewcuts stuff my my daughter- The Flamenco dress that I have been stalking was now down to $27 with the discount-yeah!! Also a couple of adorable t-shirts. Of course mama needed some new clothes as well... I picked up the space dyed cardi and the pinpoint blazer- a little nervous about both, but fingers crossed.

Mack- Yeah! Keep me posted on the primrose cardi

  28. Hi! Can anyone tell me how the Endless Summer Cardigan or now Forever Cardigan runs?

    Also-the Imperial Tee?

What about a sandal in metallic guava (or nude/soft shade that would work with the buff, dusty and shell pinks of the season.) Style name and whether it runs TTS would be AWESOME! Also--maybe whether they are comfy would be a nice addition;)

    I appreciate it:)

  29. I went for it! Got the silk flower tank in warm shell, the Blythe dress in ivory ($48 with the discount... that's nuts!), and a couple of full price items to hit the free shipping threshold. I'm so excited, since I almost never buy anything online. Thanks for all the sizing help, everyone!

  30. Alert! The September Catalog is out ! Almost everything is new, and I listed some descriptions on my blog. Saw some items in store, will blog more later

  31. Sorry, still kind of off-topic but do the Capri Sandals generally run TTS or do most size up??

    ReplyDelete
  32. bug pin: I usually size down in the capri sandals. I'm an 8.5 and I always get an 8 in these. HTH!

  33. bug pin:
I normally wear my regular size for capri sandals (also thong styles), but I had to size up for the Pietra jeweled capri sandal. The Fiona was fine in my regular size but I felt some of the style this spring/summer with the straps it was a bit snugger. I wish JC would make the straps more adjustable but for some sandals I was at the last hole and still snug. I also tried the Elodie flat sandals in my regular size but had to size up since I couldn't even put all my feet in them! HTH!

  34. Gwen, those are great buys. Hope the sizing works out & you love everything. Keep us posted.

  35. I ordered yesterday and got the casa mosaic petal cami, cocktail capris in navy, knit parlour cardi in amythest, broken in boyfriend chinos in nickel, and destroyed chino in white. Luckily, only the cami was final sale and I've tried it on (and loved it).

  36. Thanks for the info on sizing! In that case, does anyone have a pair of the Tierney Capri (thong/sandals)in Champagne Camel. These are the Capri flip-flops with 3 skinny straps of Champagne, Silver and Carmel leather. I need size 8 and would consider used;0) Or a size 8 in Metallic Guava Capri flip flops. Thanks!

  37. Alright, I just lost the Cotton Contrast Stitch Perfect Shirt (item 15463) size 2 from my cart. ..which one of you took that from me?? LOL! :0)
Does anyone know if this is a lost cause or does it pop back??

  38. SIIIIGGHHH,

    All right jcrew.... You win!

    The Isabel dress that I've been stalking since FOREVER popped back in my size. So I bought it along with a slim stretch shirt. It was just enough to bring me up to the freeship limit. After tax & my rewards card I paid $140 for everything. Still more than $40 off the original price for the dress :}

    Gotta love the discounts!

    Hope everyone's popbacks hit soon,

    Heather:D

  39. i have been on a serious "no buy" for several week so I have lost track of the JCrew site. When are they doing updates nowadays??? AM - PM - does anyone know? Thanks JCAs

  40. The promo worked for items that are reduced, but are not on final sale. I used it on the double-serge cotton pencil skirt, which did not show up in the Final Sale section and was not listed as FS at the checkout although the discount was applied.

I know thoughts are turning to autumn, especially with September catalog pix posted today (thanks jcbellemarie) but the double-serge cotton pencil is a good buy at $62.40 because you can wear it now and into fall, especially if you live in a warmer climate. It's a good basic that you can go to in spring/summer 2010 as well. I have this in the pink and Tiffany blue and have loved wearing these for the past few months. I bought the black and bronzed twig today and will wear them until it cools enough to wear the new wool pencils.

  41. I bought the Artisan Blazer. At $55, it's difficult to pass up. Does anyone how loose/fitted it might be? They were out of my size, so I had to size up.

I also purchased the Linen Halter dress in white and the Saturday Sateen Skirt in fresh melon, which was adorable in the stores...though I wish in came in a less preppy color.

If anyone is interested in men's items, their linen shirts (at $19.99, or $15.99 with the 20% off) is a great deal. I also picked up a cotton-cashmere sweater for $15.99, based largely on a JCA's recommendation a while back.

I'm guessing that the sale prices are bottoming out right now on many items, especially with the additional $20% off.

  42. bug pin - I have been watching that shirt, waiting for a zero, and I have seens 2s pop back almost every day. Check in the mornngs!
