J.Crew Email: The search is over...

"Thanks!" to many of you, including, HeidiG, AnneG, Marietta, & love2shop4bags, who shared the latest email from J.Crew. Incidentally, the email J.Crew sent me today was the same one they sent their card members on Friday (refer to the "J.Crew Email: Cardmember sneak peek (new arrivals). In stores and online.")

The email above features the Charlie Ruffled Suede Platform Mary Janes (Item 17191; $228.00). J.Crew describes the heels as "Irresistibly sweet with ladylike polish, in the softest Italian suede and trimmed with a gathered ruffle at the heel. Our designers gave them a hidden platform, which makes even sky-high stilettos feel like a midheel shoe".

The heels are adorable. I am also curious about the hidden platform- will it make standing & walking in the shoes more comfortable?

What are your thoughts on the heels? Do you like the style- from the ruffles to the suede to the hidden platform? Are you a fan of ruffles for footwear?

Off-topic Side Note: Just a friendly reminder that the Special JCA Event (where JCAs can see the Fall Preview & save 20% off purchases of $125+) in Reston, VA, is happening today. For more on this event, click here. :)

  1. These shoes are gorgeous and such lovely fall colors. I wonder if the warm maize would work with bronzed ochre. I noticed the dark rust version appears to have banding around the toebox where the other colors do not. Wonder if that is accurate or if they are all the same and then, well which is it, banding or no banding?

I have a few pairs of heels with hidden platforms and it really does make the shoes more comfortable on the front of the foot and the heel does not feel as high. I think I will have to try these out. Time for a blanket % off promo J.Crew?

  4. OT - has anyone seen the baby ruffle mini IRL? I'm thinking it could be a really cute casual skirt, or a big sloppy mess. Is the fabric substantial, or thin like a tee? Would love to hear comments on this one.

    TIA

  5. I lurv these shoes. They're so out of my price-range, but they are way cute. They would look awesome with a short skirt and crazy tights.

OT - I don't know where to share my glee that my rewards card and new catalogue came today. Can't wait to use it.

  10. Jcrewlover, thanks for more of the "hidden items!" On the chiffon-trimmed cardigans subject, ladies, I just had to LOL at what I received today - the merino chiffon-trim cardigan (15272 in heather cloud... the chiffon trim was very heavily unraveled, and the edges looked (get this) BURNT! Like when you cut a piece of ribbon and hold it over a match to get the edges singed - except with no singeing. Totally weird!

I'd also advise to either wait for the Elodie patent-leather sandals to go through another markdown if you're interested or skip them altogether - the patent leather felt cheap, flimsy and uncomfortable. Great color (dark cabarnet), though.

Back to your regularly scheduled JCA programming! ;)

  11. Thanks silver lining! I'd been coveting the elodie's (in every color, no less) as a replacement for very well-worn lulu's....yikes, glad i didn't sip that crewlade.

  12. Funny B&M story about final sale Cafe Capris- I tried them on and asked for a fit opinion from the SA- she mistook them for the new arrival Pixie or Minnie pants (not sure which she said). Needless to say, I paid a 1/3 of the price and got the same look. If you have a short inseam, give them a try in a tight fitting size to mimic the pixie style pant. They may work for you too!

  14. Saw new arrivals in store today. The ribbon top was too boxy for me, and as a size 0, I couldn't size down. The evening primrose cardigan, not pictured online is very pretty and great quality.

  15. Went to my local B&M store and they were putting out the latest fall line. Tried on the Eden jacket. Looks better in person. Fits perfectly, too. The dark indigo and iris are my favorite colors. Very rich. The Frances cami was out and it looks great, too. Need to go back in a few days when everything should be out.

  16. Didn't get my reward card yet... hopefully will get it tomorrow. Dropped by the store today for a return and saw some new Fall items. The Primrose Brynn dress is beautiful; so does the Frances cami. They just don't well on me. I guess I'll probably try my luck in size petite 0. I saw a chiffon cardigan (not seen online) in light purple and ivory color... very pretty. The Eden jacket in all colors are on the selling floor as well. Didn't see any new shoes though. Hopefully they will have more stuff in the stores by next week.

  18. Susan: could you describe the colors in the Evening Primrose cardi IRL? It looks beautiful.

  19. Ruffles: It looks a lot like the Silk Evening Primrose top (17240), perhaps a bit brighter. It's stunning in person because the colors really complement each other well. A dark plum with the golden cypress and silver. I'm sorry my description is scattered; I will go back tomorrow and possibly take a picture with my phone. I didn't take it home because I don't wear printed cardigan much, so will order the silk top.

    I remember it's 100% merino wool and priced $88.

Also, for those interested, the Frances comes in at least one print as well. I saw a silver Frances tiny black diamonds (similar to the dotted Victoria).

  24. How do you get a Rewards card? I've ordered a ton from JC in the last 6 weeks, do they give them out based on sales?

  25. I also bought and love the evening primrose cardi! It's so pretty. I am glad that they did this print in a cardi, as I cannot wear strapless dresses and wasn't crazy about the cami. I wish my b&m would have had the maya cardi in stock - has anyone seen this IRL yet?

  26. Cliquot - The rewards cards are for J Crew cardholders. You have to have a J Crew credit card. I think it's $25 for every $500 you spend. They issue 'em quarterly. HTH
