J.Crew News: What's Happening Today? {Tuesday edition}

As mentioned in an earlier post (refer here), I am on vacation! Unfortunately, I won't be able to keep up with all the latest J.Crew news, promos, and the like.

So this post is the "catch all" for J.Crew Aficionadas and Aficionados to share with one another the "current happenings" for today. Feel free to post your comments here- from current J.Crew promotions, sales, emails, and even questions on products (regarding fit & size), and the like. :)

P.S. There will be a daily "J.Crew News: What's Happening Today?" for the rest of the week- in order to keep the most current news on the most current post. :)

What comments do you want to share or ask of other Aficionadas and Aficionados? What is currently happening (in terms of promos, sales, emails, products, and the like)?

  1. Good Morning! Did anyone make it to a B&M to see the New Arrivals yet?

Also, this is off topic, but I was wondering if anyone has a percent off code or promotion for Banana Republic? TIA! :)

  2. OOh, this is THE skirt that I missed getting and still regret. I love it so much, but have never seen it-even on eBay. Wonder if anyone lucky owns it and can comment.Thank you!

  3. Anyone know what time the sale section was updated? I feel like I keep missing it no matter when I get up in the morning!

    ReplyDelete
  4. VanillaCherries: I don't think it has updated yet this morning. :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. No, it has not updated yet today. I wonder if it will???

    ReplyDelete
  6. I think it did update because the orange zebra tee was for sale (wasn't last night) and the rosette tee was there too(wasn't last night).

maybe it was a minor update? I don't get it! Booo!

  7. Ooh! Thanks for posting this image, Alexis! I own the skirt, Slastena. It is absolutely as gorgeous as it looks in the picture. However, I am at a loss as to what to pair it with! I wore it with cream and brown. But that seems kind of boring!

  8. I received the June catalog again yesterday. I thought that they it would feature some of the new arrivals but it was identical to old catalog with a new (I mean added) cover. Anyone else? I don't get it...

  9. that outfit is super cute!

  10. I got that sweater as a popback in navy and haven't worn it yet. The cashmere is superlative! It's really thick and the weave is really tight, almost like felt. I haven't decided if it's a jacket or a sweater for me, or what to wear it with. This is the first time I've seen an image of it worn that I can remember. When is this pic from? TIA

  11. I noticed that in the last several days before the 20% off code, the sale update would go to 800 or 900 items at around 6am. Yesterday morning and this morning ,now that the 20% off code is in place, the update has been nonexistent if at all. I don't think this is coincidence J.Crew! Haha.

I think they are trying to unload what's already up there before replenishing the selection.

  12. Has anyone made it to the stores for new arrivals? Trying to decide if the super long drive is worth it for me, please post what they have!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'm headed to my b&m this morning. I'll report back on new items and new markdowns.

Ema, I received the June catalog again yesterday and was so disappointed. I was hoping it had some new items.

  14. Does anyone know why they're only releasing new arrivals in stores? That dress from the email today was super cute....

  15. BR has 40% off coupons for Tuesdays. I got them in store though I am not sure if you can find them online anywhere???

    ReplyDelete
  16. CheesyGoodness: the photo should be from fall/winter 2007. I have the striped top in the picture and it is from fall 2007.

    June catalog: ditto, nothing new.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Jessica: Do you have an extra code you could email me so I can try it online? My email is:

    FabulousFloridaMommy@cfl.rr.com

If so, I would greatly appreciate it! :) TIA!

  18. I went to the Cherry Hill, NJ and Marlton, NJ stores yesterday. There was more new merchandise out at the Cherry Hill store. Lots of cute shorts. The Marlton store had a lot of new jewelry that was really cute.

The Cherry Hill men's section was really big. I think it's better than the Marlton one, if any guys are reading.

The sale section in Marlton had lots of pants for 19.99, including the Saturday ones - which I've tried on previously but do nothing for me.

Additional 20 percent off was not being offered on sale items.

    Hope that helps.

  19. Thanks IRL! The top you have is cute, in fact, all the pieces in the picture look nice.

  20. I think perhaps Alexis is posting photos of the 2007 Paris catalog releases as a theme since she is on vacation in Paris. Yesterday was the Dani peacoat, which I own and love. I didn't get any of the items featured today but I do recognize them from that era, I think. Certainly has a Parisian look.

Hope you're having a great time Alexis!

  21. FFM - I have the 40% off coupons, they are only good in store. They were given out as 40% off one item only, with 4 seperate coupons, one valid each Tuesday until June 16. I have an extra one that I can mail you, if you send me your address I'll send it out right away. Unfortunately the one for today won't work for you!

  22. Oh, if you use your Banana card you will also get 10% off on top of that!

  23. Thank you for the help Jessica and Marietta! :)

  24. Good mornin yall!
I have seen a bunch of the new arrivals for women and I personally thought they were really cute! A lot of navy being reintroduced, and the new stuff really reminded me of the J Crew I knew and loved from a year ago (classic pieces and colors, with specialty items that could translate from one season to the next instead of ruffle-ey/torn items that would be out of style next month hehe). Looking forward to seeing even more!!

  25. I own the sweater top the model is wearing in black and I wear it with fitted jeans. I haven't paired it with skirt, but it's cute to see it on the model.
I'll be going to B&M this afternoon to return some items...
Also, I haven't had any luck getting price adjusted with the extra 20% off even though I had just placed it on Sunday. And the SA told me they already gave me a one time adjustment, but couldn't tell me when...I couldn't recall either. What a waste of resource and time to re-order again for the extra 20 off... but sure is tempting to reorder to get the discount.

  26. Just got back from my lenox B&M. A lot of new arrivals. They had the navy dress from the email, which was very cute irl. I saw the petal cami in a different print than the one online. They also had the navy printed shorts from a previous sneak peek post, and a mini in the same print. They had a few other new minis, and tunic tops. And a lot of items that are already online.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Question: Has anyone had a problem with the cafe capris (this season) stretching out over time? The SA told me that they stretch out a lot and to order a size smaller (which wasn't too flattering on).

    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Does any one have the rimini sandals or the athena flats? Are they comfy?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Poll: Should I mashine wash gentle/hang dry my 'premium stretch bistro pants' OR dry clean them?

Those of you who machine wash, is it tough to get them de-wrinkled?

Those of you who dry clean, do they stretch out over time?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Kendra - I have the cafe capris in 3 colors (navy, warm blush, and british khaki). I think the navy stretched a bit but shrunk right back up when I washed them. The other two colors didn't seem to stretch and I got my "normal" size. I didn't size down because that could cause a sight that no one should have to see. I've read that a lot of people have said that the cafe capris are ill fitting on them, but they fit me perfectly right off the rack(but unfortunately, all other j crew pants and capris tend to fit me horribly).

Anyways, I'm going to the Philly B&M during my lunch today to return a couple things and peruse the new arrivals :)

  31. I agree with you CheesyGoodness, I got the sweater in black a couple of years ago and the cashmere is amazing, and really tightly knit. I hope JCrew has something like that in store for this fall/winter. I will keep adding to my (endless) cashmere collection!

    ReplyDelete
  32. i need my bistro pants to shrink. i sized up because they were a bit tight in the thigh, and now i have major sag-ass when i wear them.

i haven't washed them yet but if i can shrink them in the wash that would be amazing.

  33. Ok - Philly update - the sale section is fully stocked. The entire back part of the store is women's sale (haven't seen the sale section this full in a long time). Didn't really take a good look at it since I'm all shopped out from the recent online sales. Did happen to see one sateen soiree jacket in slate (size 2) for 39.99.

New arrivals looked nice but I was expecting more in terms of quantity of items - it just looked like 5-6 women's pieces were out and they were (as previously reported) mostly navy. The dress in the email is really cute but I can see the bottom part of the dress posing a problem to shorter girls because it seems like there is a lot of volume/material. None of the new arrivals attracted me enough to try them on though.

  34. The sweater is from ~07 and is the

    J. Crew Collection Catherine Cashmere Peacoat Sweater

I have it in navy and love it!

  35. So, here's my report on the irregular dot navy/white party dress featured in the e-mail this morning and in InStyle Magazine this month. Beware all you size 0 and Size 2s and extra small gals out there. This dress runs very LARGE! I took a size smaller than I normally do and I am a curvy girl. The skirt is VERY voluminous but has wonderful pockets (love!). I might recommend another belt other than the one it comes with -- either a skinny patent or metallic JC belt or one of the wider patent belts. It's a darling dress -- very versatile and I did buy it. But, it may not be right for super slim girls only because you may not be able to bu it small enough to fit. I guess it can always be altered. Worth a look and a try-in IRL IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  36. annegav: would you mind telling how much that dress is? I love it, but I am debating whether to run to the store today to buy it. TIA :)

    ReplyDelete
  37. lilac cupcake - my PS told me it was $148 when I initially asked about it. Not sure if it is the same price in-store though. I just called my store and they said the dress was flying out the door!

    ReplyDelete
  38. the dot dress is $148 in-store.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thanks JTS and Lauren :) I am heading out now, haha!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yes, $148. And, it is FLYING out of the store. There were two on the rack after I took one and a girl in the dressing room calling on the Red Phone trying to order one.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes, I bought the cashmere jacket in navy as well on super sale pop back for under $99. I had no idea at the time what I was buying but it is fabulous and IMO the last of the great JCrew cashmere before it went el cheapo!

  42. My b&m did not have the polka dot dress. :( They did have the new navy or black and white print (it's hard to tell if it's navy or black) in shorts, mini, and cardi. I tried on the cardi - very cute. They had a new thin/sheer short sleeve cardi with pockets that was nice. I was finally able to try on the pleated cotton tank in ivory and I loved it so much I bought it. I tried it on with several items, but my favorite look was with the favorite shirt in chambray and the boyfriend chinos in nickel. I bought the shirt but had gray chinos already at home. I would still like the boyfriend chinos, but another time.

They have a new color in boyfriend chinos - a light khaki (don't know its JC name) as well as boyfriend scout chinos, which are cropped.

I tried on the ruffled-hem dress, which did not work on me. I think if you have any hips at all, that this dress won't work. It tapers in at the ruffles, so it accentuated my hips. It was also too long on my 5'4" body.

I finally tried on the eyelet skirt and it's now on my wishlist.

They have another new cream and brown blouse which is nice, but dry clean only. :( And, I like the stretch twill matchsticks, but I wish they'd make the matchsticks in a higher rise b/c I hate muffin top! :D

The atelier jackets are down to 59.99; the Charleston, SC, store had several in white and one navy in 8. One soiree jacket in gray, size 8.

They also had the ballet flats, which seemed comfy, but who knows after time. I would give them a chance on sale.

Sorry this was so long. Happy shopping!

  43. jcbellemarie, thanks for the link to the sweater! Like Summer, I didn't know what I was buying but was really impressed at the quality when it came!

mathteacher, thanks for the info on the ruffle hem dress. I keep visiting it online, but now it will be officially on my not list, as I am neither tall nor slim of hip. My visa thanks you, too!

  44. do people like "his derby stripe shirt"?? what is the general feeling on this?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I tried on the His Derby-Stripe shirt in store and found it to run HUGE. I'm almost consistently a 2 in JC tops, and the XS was very big and jutted out at the shoulders. Soft, but too sloppy for me. I think there's a reason it went down to $19.99, after being $50 for practically forever! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  46. New arrivals will be online June 20

  47. math teacher,

Great post! Thanks for all the info. It is not to long at all!

  48. Hi everyone,

I'm new to your site and forgive my ignorance, but what does B&M mean? I live in California and can't wait to try on the navy and white dress. I loved it the minute I saw it in In Style.

    ReplyDelete
  49. B&M= brick and mortar, as in an actual store (not online).

    ReplyDelete
  50. I went today to the B&M and tried on a bought a few things. Not to take away from JCA but I did post pics on my blog if you're interested.

  51. happy life I returned Athena Wrap Sandals because I had to tie them really tight at the ankle to feel comfortable and prevent slippage of the heel, which ended being too tight for my ankles. Riminis are comfortable. Did you actually see them on the site? They've been sold out for a while with very few pop-backs. :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. The Aficionada who was looking for a black BR halter. I could not find your post here, so I am posting instead. I know which store had it as of an hour ago. Email me at env79 at hotmail.com and I will tell you which store has.

  53. Audrey, I checked out the new arrivals on your blog, everything was so very cute on you. I love the navy too.

    ReplyDelete
  54. @IRL ,Thank you !
I bought the rimini sandals(2 colors) and the athena flats this morning with the 20% off in size 9.
I've been wanting to buy them for so long. They seemed cute on the website, but I'm skeptical about their fit.
Since it was an extra 20% off and they had all the colors i wanted in my size, I pulled the trigger!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I am traveling and not able to visit the stores to see the new release. I received the email announcing the new arrivals and forwarded to contactus@jcrew.com asking when in-store new arrivals would be available online. Here is their response:

We apologize that you aren't able to view our collection in our stores.
Our new arrivals may be seen on our website under "New Arrivals for
Him/Her" displayed on our home page. We apologize for any inconvenience.

um, duh! Totally missed the point. :P

  56. Those of you in the Maryland or Northern Virginia area -- any recommendations of someone that does really good alterations? I have a couple JCrew skirts in a 4 that need brought down to a 2. Thanks so much :)

  57. Thanks for the reports ladies. Audrey, thanks for the photos and sharing your blog.

Nice to hear of the cute clothes that I hope to see IRL soon, myself. Sounds like different stores have different shipments, or maybe it is just the order they place styles on the floor.

  59. My thoughts on the new arrivals; Beaded t-shirts look like a kid bedazzled them with pop rocks. Patterned sweaters are so sheer and thin yuck! Love the new navy minis in both prints. The broadcloth scalloped shirt they made into a black suiting dress (with pockets!!! :-) ) Other than that kind of boring and not a lot of "new" items.

Oh hello fellow size 9 shoe stalker! :)

What color Rimini's were you able to find?

    ReplyDelete
  61. @IRL
I was able to find the Rimini vachetta in burnt sienna.
They are $10 more than the other patent rimini sandals in which I bought the shell :-)
I just need one more...the bronzed twig
