A Little Something From J.Crew...

"Thanks!" to RatsOnParade, Lily, Anon at 3:44 PM (in this post), & J (in this post), who let us know that they all recently received something special in the mail from J.Crew. Also, a big "thanks!" to RatsOnParade who shared these {great!} images with us! :)
J.Crew sent them all a small white box with the words "A little something from J.Crew...." on the label. Inside, there was a set of note cards with a card, shown below (click on the image to view larger), with the following text:
Just a gift to say thank you...
for being one of our best J.Crew Credit Cardmembers.

Enjoy the enclosed custom-designed note cards. They were illustrated by one of our women's designers, Somsack. We fell in love with the whimsical illustrations, and we know you will too.

Your friends at J.Crew
24-7@jcrew.com

Moreover, the custom designed note cards had a variety of J.Crew-themed designs. "Thanks!" to Lily, who shared with us the various designs (as shown below).

What a fabulous gift for J.Crew card members! I really like the whole "surprise-gift" from J.Crew to its card members too- it's a nice and unexpected gesture. (Especially since we recently discussed the lack of good benefits for card members. Refer to this post.) ;)

So if you are a card member, chances are you will be receiving "a little something from J.Crew" in the mail in the next couple of days, so keep "an eye out" for it. :)

  1. That's cool. I'm going to send one to Mickey to thank him for the gift. Kidding. But that would be funny.

  2. Reminds me of the free notecards & return address labels the charities are always sending to get me to donate more money...

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm going to put a $1 in it and send it back with a note telling them to take me off their list.

  4. I'm a cardmember... but I bet I won't get one since I didn't even get a red card. But this is a very nice gesture for those who do get it! Jealous!

  5. Em, it's just paper. I would be more upset over the red card...no wait, I'd just buy one off of ebay.

  6. I think it's a nice gesture for J. Crew to send gifts to their top customers. That said, I would be scared for the day I recieved a gift as I know it would probably mean that I'm spending way more then I should be spending at J. Crew- Not that it is any of my business what anyone spends but my understanding is that you need to spend a lot to recieve a gift from J. Crew.

  7. Those cards are so cute! (But ditto Anon @5:02...haha)

  8. I received this yesterday too, and I am NOT a cardholder...just a very good customer I guess.

  9. That's funny - I didn't even bother to look through all the cards - I just assumed they all had the same design. Thanks to Lily for pointing out there's more than illustration! So cute!

  10. Got mine today. Truthfully, I spend way more than I should! It was a nice gesture though. Reminded me a little of something my grandma would do- she would send us thank you notes. Guess it was her way of saying she wanted us to write them! :-)

  11. Not gonna hold my breath, I'm a card holder, but these gimmes (ala red card) have some criteria known only to Jcrack.

    ReplyDelete
  12. What?! Am I missing something? A box, with just cards!

They thought it would be wise to make these, and waste resources. Do they also expect people to happy about this…

You’ve got to be kidding me

    ReplyDelete
  13. I received the note cards today. I think it's kinda tacky for a retailer to promote itself w/ "Jcrew inspired"designs on note cards as customer gifts. I would never use a note card that could be easily identified with a retailer. Just my two cents

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh, not another one of these posts...yeah, some people will get them....the same ones that got the necklace, and the luggage tags, and the scarves.

At least this gift basically sucks compared to the rest. I have gobs of note cards from years ago sitting around. Email is hot and writing is not.

  15. Anony@6:37

Yes, if I got these I would not use them b/c they are just a marketing scheme. I would give them to my kids to scribble on and play "mail".

    ReplyDelete
  16. I'm going to bring mine back to the store to see if they can give me store credit.

  17. I am a JC cardholder and I was so excited to see a "box" from J.Crew in my mail box today but I was not so excited to see the notecards! :( Boo, I was so hoping that it was a necklace or something a bit more fun and usual! Oh well, I guess it's the thought that counts...right?!?! My kids will have "play mail" now too just like Anony @6:37's! :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. I totally like them. I disagree with Anon "Email is hot and writing is not". I love writing thank you notes, and the like, specially to the elders in my church, and they don't care where the card comes from. I personally don't care if it's a marketing gimmick or not, so far I've had a great experience with JC, every time I complain about something, they make sure I end up happy. I shop not only for me but for 4 teenagers, and I love the company.
In this economy, everybody is hurting, and those CEO's are humans, just like us, not everybody is detach from reality, and I think JC is trying to stay afloat. But again, whatever the reason, it's the thought that counts, not the gift itself.
    Sorry for the long rant...:)

Nice post but like it or not the art of writing is basically dead. Fact-- not fiction or personal preference.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I think its a nice gesture - congrats to those who have and will recieve them!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I didn't get these and don't expect to (I don't spend that much and am almost exclusively a sale shopper). However, sending them out seems like a nice gesture to me. Of course they're about marketing, they're from a clothing company. But that doesn't make them bad.
(Also, that's kind of goofy, saying email is hot and mail is not. Do you really believe this, or are you envious about not getting these and just not in touch with your own feelings?)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I didn't get the red card, or the rewards card, so I doubt I will get this one either :/

    ReplyDelete
  23. I've actually been spending significantly less at J.Crew and got the red card this time around and the postcards! When I was spending more a few months ago, I didn't get anything. There's no rhyme or reason with these promos. The card says it's a special thanks for card holders yet some without the j.crew cc got it. Who knows!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Just received mine and I was pleasantly suprised to find the stationary. I think that it is a nice touch and unique since I have never received anything like this from any other cards!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Do the cards say "J Crew" anywhere on them? If they don't, most people wouldn't recognize them as associated with the store and just see the cards as having cute summery drawings. A nice little gesture in my opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  26. A nice little gesture that they can be sure will be discussed on this blog and make those who didn't get them envious, and want to get them, perhaps. I'm happy for all those who got them--I'm sure it was a wonderful surprise! However, it does not make me want to get a JCrew card, and potentially rack up $$$ in debt at a usurious interest rate.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I didn't get the notecards, but got the red card.

On not getting a credit card with J Crew because of interest rate - it's the same with any other credit card. DO NOT carry a balance.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Cute cards. I buy plenty of blank cards and I am very happy about JCrews gesture. Yipee and thanks JCrew! I still wish they would lower those shipping rates.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I got the red card and these note cards. It's funny because I have all the pieces, or something very similar from J.Crew, of the illustrations. I showed the cards to my husband and he asked me who would get the "bikini" cards. LOL I guess I will send them all to him.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Sorry to be so totally OT: I finally got the May catalog and I remember one JCA mentioning the LIPSTICK... whoah. And what is up with the lack of mascara in some pics? And props to whoever dubbed that one top the "clown suit!" Yikes, I am seriously disinterested in 99% of the May stuff.

I didn't get the notecards and I guess I'm in the minority of people who'd actually use them. I guess big time snail mail users are a bit of a dying breed!

  31. Does item 14988, the featherweight cotton sweater have pockets? In some of the product shots it shows pockets and in some it doesn't.
    thanks.

  32. I know this is sooo off topic and kind of old, but please bear with me. For all those ladies who own the Metallic Lulu peep toe heels, how do they fit? Do they run big? There is a pair on ebay that is one size too small than what i usually wear and i was wondering if i should pull the trigger or would i be making a mistake? Please, your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

P.S. I didn't know where to post this and i wouldn't like to bother anyone by creating a off topic discussion here, so here is my email in case you would like to reply to my question in private:

  33. help!please...no pockets on those featherweight sweaters. I saw them in the store and they are SUPER featherweight-I gotta say, it's almost like T shirt material. Seems like it would get a hole/tear in it the second you put it on.
ANd I am a card holder, did get both red cards and never have rec'd a gift from J. Crew. I wonder how much one needs to spend to get the gift.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I received the note cards today. I also got the scarf and the red card and I'm NOT a cardholder. The note said "just a thank you... to one of our best jcrew customers". You apparently don't have to be a cardholder to get perks, which is great since I own only a check card that racks up bank bucks I use to support my starbucks habit.

Nordstrom is great in that you can connect your checkcard to their Nordstrom Notes points program, in essence "double dunking". They are the only company I know that does this. No interest fees, yearly fees, nada. The customer reaps the benefits, as it should be.

Beware of the credit card trap, there's a reason companies push them... they win, not you.

Anyway, I appreciate the free gifts and red cards from Jcrew. Anything free is good for me!

    ReplyDelete
  35. The metallic Lulu peep-toe heels fit large. You need to SD 1/2 size. If you are in between sizes you may be able to SD a full size but they will likely be tight, especially where your toe peeps out because your foot will be extending out a little further than if it was an exact fit. A cobbler could probably stretch them for you if it is too painful.

Have you tried the weekly exchange? You can post in Looking To Find and see if you get any offers. Some people bought them not realizing they were too large so there have been some available for sale on this blog. That said, if you buy the ebay shoes you may be able to resell here if they don't fit you.

These are beautiful shoes. I've worn mine several times and they attract a lot of attention and compliments. Plus, they feel so sweet on, like an instant party.

  36. Hey, I just read the posts and I was kind of surprised at how much of a nerve this gift could hit! To clarify a couple of things, the first is that my card did not mention being a J Crew cardholder, because I am not. It says "for being one of our best customers". I do spend a lot but since late Fall, I honestly have not spent that much at all. Also, the cards DO NOT have J Crew represented anywhere on them with one exception, the flip flips have J Crew written in the footbed in small letters. The other three show no bearing of the company and just look like summer note cards. So, its not quite an advertising ploy from that standpoint IMHO. And no, they are not the quality of the free notecards from the charity places. They are on heavier cardstock and the envelopes are plain white with different colored insides, so they look like someting you would purchase in a stationary store. So, I will use them if I need to include a note with a gift or jot a note to someone this summer - sometimes a written letter is a bit more impressive and or formal than an email (which is pointless if its an older person who may not have email capabilities!).

I thought it was a nice surprise, I guess its just interesting to see how bitter some of us still are at the way J Crew has been with customer service lately (trust me, I have been there!), regardless, if its a peace offering or marketing ploy or not, its better than nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think the notecards are a cordial gesture from J.Crew, and nicely packaged with a red ribbon, too.

Congratulations to those who received them.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I did not get the note cards and I am not a card member. If there is anyone who is not going to use theirs I'd love to take them :-)

  40. to those who feel writing is passe. Email will NEVER replace the throughtfulness of a handwritten note, written on beautiful paper, no matter where the cards are from. It is an art.

I'm happy for those who received them! (and hoping I do too!)

  43. 10:50--glad to know you are in the minority of Americans who actually pay off their credit cards every month. As the new credit-card bill being pushed through Congress attests, most Americans are not, carrying an average cc debt of $10,000 per family. A rate over 20% is usurious, which is what JCrew's card is at. Sure, they sweeten the deal with "perks," and to get and use such a card is the customer's prerogative. Have you ever read the fine print in the catalog about the card? It reads something like "there are fees associated with having this card"--ou have to contact them to learn more. Have you ever read or heard the stories of teenagers/college students racking up debt without even knowing they have to pay it back? Caveat emptor, to be sure, but I think statements like yours risk sounding haughty and ignore the reality of cc debt and predatory lending practices.

    ReplyDelete
  44. its not that email is IN and writing a note is OUT, it's the fact that emailing is eco friendly and cost effective! duh! that is why banks and companies are going GREEN and offering paperless billing and e-bills. you guys love to bicker about everything!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I agree w/ anon 12:01- the cost of stamps just keeps going up and up! On May 11 the cost of stamps are going to be 44 cents each! I know it's a small hike but if you add up the number of bills and letters you mail, it's pretty pricey!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Anon @ 10:50, I totally agree! I have ALOT of store credit cards (but not JC) and 2 major credit cards, all of which I use frequently, and I NEVER pay ANY interest because I always pay off the balance in full every month. I enjoy lots of perks/rewards on all of them. Some people have an irresponsible sense of entitlement that gets them into debt trouble, because they refuse to live within their means. I really have no sympathy for them. It's not the credit card company's fault, people! Just control your shopping impulses!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree w/ anon @ 12:15. I've never carried a balance on any credit card. And I'm a student with very little extra income... but let's be honest, 90% of the extra money I do have gets spent at J.Crew :)

That said I think I benefited from my dad teaching me that it is never ok to carry a balance, and teaching me how to handle money and be frugal... and lots of people might not have that teaching. I think it made a big difference.

I still love to send handwritten correspondence... but it is pricey! I pay all of my bills online... probably only saves me, what, like $30 a year, but $30 is $30!

I agree that if anyone doesn't want their J.Crew notecards I would love to take them off your hands and will pay shipping + fees and your time in packing them and taking them to the post office!

  48. It would be better is J Crew focused more on the quality of their clothes than sending out junk mail.

    ReplyDelete
  49. You know, a note card can be used for other things rather than strictly to physically mail something. I use them with gift baskets or with gifts where a regular card really does not fit in my professinal dealings. I am sure there are also a load of people out there that do not utilize email, my father for one so that is a lost point in that case. Yes, its not a gold watch in the mail, but its SOMETHING, something more than I had 2 days ago so I am trying not to percieve this as something sinister!!!! I will say this, this means more to me than an EMAIL saying thanks, much more personal so that is prime example actually sending something over a mass email. Much more of an effort and formal (and much more likely for me to read it).

Whatever, you can find an arguement for everything if you want! For those who appreciate it, enjoy them. For those who did not get them, I hope you do (that is if you want them and are not going to be offended or pissed off by them!). Its amazing where this post is going!!! I can see being annoyed by NOT getting them, but by actually getting them, not so much!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Here we go again, it is the same old story on this blog, someone getting pissed because someone else received something that they didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Those are really cute. J. Crew does add a special touch to an order, or with little gifts like that. I have been thinking for a little while about getting a JC card; it does seem like there are some cool perks.

    ReplyDelete
  54. 12:15, it's the individualistic attitude that has gotten our country in the mess it's in. Nope, not the cc companies'/banks' fault at all--Congress is going after their policies and practices for no reason whatsoever. Have some bad things befall you--lose your job, health insurance, have a major home repair--and then go out and try to get an unsecured loan at a reasonable rate. There's good reasons some people cc debt. I'm not so quick to judge. As they say, people who live in glass houses . . .

    ReplyDelete
  55. To all who received the note cards, enjoy them! I hope I get some...would definitely use them for certain thank you notes and for notes to my girls' teachers (seems as if I am constantly buying paper to send notes to school!).

    ReplyDelete
  56. @2:53. I don't believe that most people are carrying all of this debt because of health problems or losing their job. How about this, don't buy a home you never could have afforded, and I wouldn't have to be forced to bail you out. How about, instead of sitting at home and collecting unemployment, you get a job at McDonalds. Do what it takes!! Then you wouldn't be in debt. And could afford more J.Crew.

    ReplyDelete
  57. anon 2:53: and there are others who go into debt to purchase J Crew, because they have to have it.

  60. Has anyone else heard that J Crew will no longer allow the student discount on sale price merchandise? I overheard a sales rep at a store here in Boston yesterday, and today received this email in response to my request to have the discount applied to an online order: "
Due to a recent update in our student discount guidelines, we will no longer be able to honor the 15% discount on sale priced merchandise, ending in $0.99. In the future we will only be able to honor the discount on qualifying full-priced and promotional merchandise. "

    mekiki,
It is a fact and you are obnoxious in your statements...try to do some reading on the subject as educated people like myself do...there are numberous articles and reports on the topic.

    May 2, 2009 11:24 AM

I was a little snotty, but your response is very snotty. I know a LOT about all of the subjects that I discussed. Also, you are wrong in your assumption that I am uneducated.
I really don't like it when people put each other down, especially when the put-downs/insults are done for totally unemportant and or petty reasons.

This post started out as a few people emailing the blot to say that they got these cards in the mail. Almost instantly, people started getting nasty about it (see posts from 5:02, 6:06, 6:37, and so on).

If the authors of these posts don't care about these notecards, why bother posting to begin with? It's pretty obvious that a lot of the posts were posted out of envy. And I do think that the world would be a better place if people had better understandings of their own feelings and motivations.

As for the Hot and Not comments, I think they were goofy. You can say that email is easier, better for the envirionment, etc. But saying it's hot to use email implies that it's more fashionable, which it is not. If you're trying to do something that is "hot," you are usually trying to impress others, or at least have them notice you. People will notice you a lot more if you take the time to write a mail a note.

Finally, about the United States Postal Service. There are many reasons that the postal service is delivering less mail, but one of the major reasons is that many people now use the internet or phone to pay bills. The delivery of polite notes on nicely illustrated note cards wasn't ever the main source or income for the post office.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I wish I had gotten the cards. I spend about $5,000.00 a year at JCrew so I'm assuming people who got the cards spend more than that. I do enjoy the red cards.

    ReplyDelete

  66. 12:01 email is not so eco-friendly. There is a huge cost for the energy to run the technology (computers, networks, etc.) and also the PCs themselves are pretty much toxic waste once they are obsolete. To say that email is better than paper, which can be recycled, is soooo naive.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hello Anon@8:59pm here are two good reasons to carry credit card debit: 1, to build credit and 2, to pay for car or home repairs or medical bills that you couldn't otherwise afford immediately. People here really are quick to judge others...live and let live folks!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Emailing is eco-friendly in that you don't have to print out every single piece of paper for each message even if it is just a sentence. You don't even need to buy paper for that matter. We all know that paper CAN be recycled but the majority of the population don't even put in the extra effort to recycle in the first place.

Emailing IS green friendly and yes, when computers get obsolete they become E-waste which eventually can get recycled as well.

    So anon 942,
It's just obvious that emailing can be cost efficient and you waste less paper by emailing. Its a simple idea. No need to go and call 1201's ideas naive.

  70. I don't see how the the delfine pencil skirt has already sold out online when all I've seen are bad reviews of it. Everyone that has seen it irl has said it's too bright- almost highlighteresque. How has it already completely sold out?

  71. It's appalling how petty and snarky this post has become. Alexis, I almost want to apologize to you on behalf of these people. Why don't you all hop over to FFM's blog and read about something that should set your priorities straight.

It's only CLOTHES and only NOTECARDS.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Wondering...

I was wondering that too. I was going to buy it but after the reviews "highlighting" the color I decided against it. Something so flashy would get limited use in my wardrobe. Maybe we will see some returns if people find they can't wear it. Or maybe it will pop up on the weekly exchange or FS. I'm curious to see it IRL but my store doesn't have it.

  77. With all due respect to Alexis, who can't control entirely what goes on here, I agree that I am reading other blogs more and more that convey more positive attitudes. Perhaps it has to do with my age (40ish) and accrued life experience (marriage, kids, career up and downs, life-threatening illnesses, home maintenance disasters, and hard choices), but I no longer see things as black and white, try as I can to have compassion and understanding for others, and genuinely delight in the positive attitudes and passion of people like Alexis, FFM, Slastena, dinagideon, Joyce, Gigi, Ema, Heidi, Ms. Mer, Jeff and all our wonderful Canadian posters, and others. Thanks to all of you who routinely make my day with your helpful posts and enthusiasm! A great Sunday to all.

  78. OT somewhat, maybe not as many postings because not as much excitement lately on the JC front? I for one haven't been bowled over on any of the spring rollouts so far. Plus, the things I've got this year, with the exception of last fall/ winter finds on the web, have been of disappointing quality. I wore my gondry tee for the second time and found big, widening holes where the ribbons come and go. The first time I wore it was for about 3 to 4 hours doing nothing more strenuous than the dishes, then I hand washed it inside out. Cruddy.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I would agree. I am looking through my spring and summer things now, and desperately want some nice, pretty things to get excited about. O/T, but can someone turn me around on the Jaspe boyfriend sweatshirt? I was going to order it until I saw it in the store yesterday. I thought it looked shapeless and cheap. Does it wash up to be more cozy-looking and hip?

    ReplyDelete
  80. 3:08, that really sucks. I did want to say something in defense of JC quality. Wore my Michelle Obama featherweight argyle cardigan for the first time on Friday. Never owned featherweight cashmere, and loved it! Perfect for a 70-degree day. Made me feel like a million bucks--truly affordable luxury.

  81. Tory Burch is looking very good to me these days. Color! A point of view! And JC prices are fast approaching that level without the quality.

I love JC but I admit, I'm getting tired of what they've been offering.

  82. On quality-has anyone else noticed the terrible smell of the merino sweaters? My snow leopard cardigan and Portland cardigan came out of the box/bag smelling so bad (like chemical dyes?) that I had to wash both before wearing.

  83. Yes, I just got a merino turtleneck sweater... it smelled funny when I took it out of the bag. I won't be wearing it til next fall so I will deal with it then, or hope it goes away by then! yuck!

  84. Anon @ 3:19 - I purchased the Jaspe sweatshirt. It reminds me a lot of 2 perfect fit tees sewn together. While the description suggests sizing up for a slouchy fit, I would actually recommend sizing down for an appropriate fit. :) It's naturally slouchy because of the way that material stretches and hangs. I'm happy with it, as it's very soft and long on the torso - something I like. However, I wouldn't call it a sweatshirt - more like a heavy tee.

  85. Hi,
Congratulations to everyone that received the free notecards! Something interesting happened hmm...

I received an email today at 6:13 am from J. Crew for free shipping. Here's the deal I've never used my gmail email for anything other than to post on JCA & other JCA's blogs. How do you suppose they got this email address? Do they follow JCA blog? Just wondering.

    Anyway here's it is:

    FREE SHIPPING CODE T74KL3
PURCHASE AMOUNT $150 good thru THURSDAY, MAY 7th

  86. I've had alot more luck with sales at Anthro for spring/summer excitement. I think they're even worse than JC for the amount of perks they give and equally bad with shipping costs, but I've never sent ONE item back because of quality issues. I've shopped JC longer than almost any other store I currently buy from, and (so far) my heart belongs to them for my fall/winter needs. But when I find better quality and fresher "frocks?" I just can't justify spending as large percent of my clothes budget at my former favorite store out of habit. Other than Anthro, though, no place seems to capture me. I've gotten so many crazy catalogs that just seem wildly inappropriate for me! Teenybopper dreck like Alloy to the "mature" stylings of Chico's et al, none of that seems to do it for me. And somehow lately I've been deluged by outdoorsy wilderness gear outfitters like REI!!! No thanks. So I'm just saving some money this year so far, wistfully hoping to have my old JC back in time for some gorgeous, thick wool sweaters that hold up for years and don't smell funny when they come out of the packaging!

  87. GoldCoastGirl, here's a crazy and paranoid theory: maybe the folks at J.Crew sent that code to you, hoping that you would share it here. Then they can track shoppers who read this blog/message board. (But why? I guess that blows a hole in my crazy and paranoid theory.)

  88. There was an email/comment I dont remember exactly... that Alexis shared on this blog a few months ago where a online jcrew cs rep said that the people at jcrew love reading this blog, it helps them to know what people are thinking and to correct any flaws they may have..
I dont remember it exactly..but the mail mentioned that jcrew employees do read this blog

  89. I know at least three or more SAs at the store I go to have mentioned that they read it! I wonder how far up the JCA interest goes.

  90. OT: has anyone else seen the promos for, or the whole skit, of Tracey Ullman pretending to be a White House reporter? She's yelling in to MO: "UPS just left a JCrew package for you! Should I bring it in? What is it, that skirt? That's going to look so cute on you!" Love it!

  91. I've heard more than one sa mention that they read JCA. :)

  92. That's very funny. Where is the Tracey Ullman skit? On the internet or on tv? I'm really out of it and haven't seen her in a while.

  93. SA's from Austin, TX stores read JAC.

  94. 3:19-I was disappointed by the Jaspe too. I thought it would be a formfitting cut with the traditional beefy sweatshirt fabric. The fabric was thin, stretchy, and slick. Looked like the Gap clearance rack.

  95. mekiki, I saw the Tracey Ullman commercial on the on demand guide channel when I was looking for something to watch. Unfortunately I don't get Shotime or HBO or whichever she's on! I wish I did, she's fab.

  96. I haven't gotten one, but couldn't care less. They might as well mail out individually monogrammed tshirts that say in 96-point font on the back "Hey world - PLEASE buy J. Crew!"

  97. I just back from the trip and found a box of cards waiting fro me at home. Very sweet! I thought it was a nice touch! Thank you, J Crew!

  98. I LOVE JCrew (am a cardholder) and often get little things in the mail, but lately they have been seriously slacking. I don't even get emails anymore! I have told SA's about this and they continue to take down my email, but still, nothing. Sigh. On the upside, i did receive (and use a great deal) a red card. Maybe there is a box of cards for me too?

  99. The reason people are not posting is that if they do or mention an item that they like they are afraid it will sell out. Get real. Lots of people read this blog and people are realizing it is best to keep their mouths shut about their favorite items!!!!!

  100. Uhmmm. . .what could be more stereotypically fake than talking about clothes? Maybe I'm naive, but I like to think there's a bit more depth, and goodness, to some or most of us.

  101. I spend, roughly $1K/month at JCrew...and have done so for nearly 1.5 years. I am a recent JCC member, too (Jan, 2009). I'm appauled that I haven't received ANYTHING from them EVER (did get the red card-- but, didn't consider that a 'fancy' thing).
Anyhow, wondering how much others are spending/month....?!

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yeah. J. Crew doesn't make anything that's decent, affordable, and prideworthy anymore. Kind of a downer for real aficionados. Maybe we should start a new blog: what can JCAs do now that the crew has died?

    ReplyDelete
  103. It seems the notecards recipients are not selected based on monthly spending, rather those highly visible (a blogger, or active otherwise), ie, those who promote the brand ostensibly - brand ambassadors?

Course JC values the latter more than the average or 'casual' shoppers.
