J.Crew Email: Spring sale. Treat yourself.

J.Crew sent an email today letting us know about their "Spring Sale" in-stores and online (click here).

So far the website has not updated the sale section, but I am looking forward to it when it does. ;)

Are their any Spring items that you are currently lusting after? If so, please share! :) Also, when do you think the next "additional percent off the sale" will occur? ;)

  1. I'm excited - the website updates have been so varied lately, I don't know when the newest items will be added, but I can't wait to see them!

  2. the sale section looks exactly the same??

  3. This is OT: has anyone purchased the pinstripe 120s skirt, style 90795? I'm tall so I'm not sure if this would show the thighs while sitting. I tried comparing the pinstripe skirt to the double serge skirt I already have, but apparently they sit at different heights in the waist area. Does anyone know who those models are online modeling the pinstripe skirts? I'm wondering how tall they are. (I really wish J Crew would insert something like "for reference, model is 5'8",,," in their descriptions.) Thanks! While I prefer pantsuits, I think skirt suits are still recommnended for interviews, right? Thx.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Anon 9:33 - It depends where you interview. I've worn pant suits to my last two interviews (I'm an attorney) and been well received. I think ideas are changing. If you interview with an old man, maybe a skirt suit would be better, but IMHO pantsuits go over better with most women (totally a generalization). Either way, a pantsuit is preferable to a too-short-skirt suit.

  5. Does anyone know if you can use the red card 25% off on online orders if the item is a catalog only piece?

I know they've allowed this by using the red phone at BM but I can't get to a store today.

  6. I agree with Bekah (and I am a lawyer too). I think a pant suit is appropriate for an interview, but it needs to be styled well so it does not look frumpy. I like to wear a really nice shirt or cami under my jacket (something with an open neck, like a button-up, scoop or v-neck but not a crewneck style) in a great color that flatters my skin tone or that has interesting pattern and then add some nice, simple jewelry. I think it makes for a sharp, polished look.

Good luck with your interviews 9:33 a.m.

  7. 9:44--suggest call and explain your situation and see if JC will extend you one of their famous "one time courtesies". Otherwise, perhaps contact the personal shopper at your B&M and see if he or she can handle it for you.

  8. I have purchased a pinstripe skirt sometime late last year but can't remember the style number. It was the first streight skirt I have purchased from JC; then I bought 2 more. All needed to be hemmed, they were below my knee. I am short, though So it may be perfect for a tall girl. All three skirts have a wide wasteband -tailored really nice.

  9. I'm lusting over mostly their shoes. Such as the Georgi high heels with tassels, Samantha metallic and suede flats, posie flat sandals, fionia flats, and the Avignon patterned peep toes.

Other non shoe items include the Cotton-cashmere bouquet cardigan, Leather boardwalk magazine tote (if it comes back online when they update) and some jewlery.

But before I buy any of the items listed, I need a coupon code plus free shipping!

  10. I'm a soon to be lawyer :) At school they actually required us to go to a presentation on appropriate dress for interviews. They told all the women that we should wear skirt suits, mostly for the old men interviewing us.

Specifically addressing your question: I have two of the 120 pinstripe skirts. Im' 5'3 and I had to have them hemmed, but the thing about these skirts is you can wear them practically anywhere like high on the waist or much lower. It doesn't seem very "straight" to me, there skirts are very a-line in my opinion as compared to the stretch wool skirts which are very slim. So since you can wear them lower on your hips, that would obviously give length.

  11. I'm in love with the Fringed Linen Scarf (item #11475) and the Spectator Belinda Heels (item #12340). I ordered the scarves a few days ago, but I might re-order when I get my rewards card/or if they go on sale anytime in the near future. (I do so love being able to return items purchased on (not!) final sale!)

Anon 10:01AM, I got the Georgi High Heels with Tassels in Black and they are adorable. I'm trying to find a reason to justify keeping them....as of now they're currently sitting in the "to be returned" pile.

  12. I'm waiting for another percent off sale. I wasn't fortunate enough to receive a "Mickey card" so I have had to wait on any purchases this month. There is nothing I absolutely need immediately, and since I know the extra sales do occur somewhat regularly, I will wait for the next one. It helps that the weather has not been too spring-like yet, making my winter wardrobe still serviceable for now.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Quick question, I am currently out the country and therefore unable to use my red card, do you think if I call customer service they'll allow me to use the discount? But then again, is there a way of proving that I have the red card in my possesion?

    ReplyDelete
  14. For those of you who obsessively check (not that any of you do, of course) - sale section has been updated (as of about 10 minutes ago - 11am or so).

  15. This post made me look. I had a tee shirt and flops in my cart, by the time I entered my credit card information they were gone. Just reinforces how upsetting their sale stocking practices and web site are. Seriously, we're all sadists for putting up with it :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. With the red card I was able to use it on orders I placed online. I just emailed them explaining that some of the items were not available at the store. I was asked to email them the barcode that is on the back. Hope that helps.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I too have been waiting for another sale with a percentage off, but the dazzling dots pencil skirt came back in stock in my size so I did purchase that and the pique v-neck ruffle dress, which was getting low in stock in my size/color. Anyone else buy this dress that would like to share a review?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Anony@10:52

Yes, the weather is making it very easy to resist temptation...I did not get a red card either which makes it very easy to wait:) Plus, I have been finding some really cute items at Boden and other online retailers with good %'s off:)

Also, a lot of JCrew's items are for any season...silk sleeveless tanks and thin sweaters. I still haven't even worn some of my winter purchases yet. It is too cold in MN for thin sweaters of any fabric/knit in the middle of winter!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anon@11:40. You are right about the seasonality of some of their sweaters and other clothes. I used to live in MN, so I know what you mean about the cold...I'm still in the Midwest, but it is not as bad here. I wonder if any other Midwestern folks got the red card? I am in MI, for reference.

  20. RatsOnParade, you're dangerous! I couldn't resist checking the site and found a couple of items that I've been stalking the site for. I'm almost afraid to count the number of separate orders I've placed this month -- I might discover I've spent upwards of $100 on shipping alone.

For better or for worse, though, there wasn't really much *new* on the site, mostly just stuff that's coming on and off as people send back returns. I'm hoping they'll expand the sale section once the new arrivals land online. ...Or, given the state of my credit card bill, perhaps not!

  21. Melissa -- I got the pique v-neck ruffle dress and it's fantastic! The cut is great, it gives you a nice little waist and then flares out a little but not too much, and since the material is thicker it hangs better and doesn't show any lumps and bumps like the jersey material does. Speaking of which, I just received the dressy jersey twist strap dress and have to say I was really disappointed. I love me some light jersey dresses, but this was totally blah. I read a review on one of the blogs (maybe Musings on the Mountain?) and even though she didn't like it I thought it looked good on her, but it sure didn't on me! She was right, it looks totally sloppy. The straps are too long, the bottom has no shape... Also the v in the back is too low and shows your bra clasp -- like, the WHOLE thing, not just a little peek. Total bummer. But while I'm on the subject of dresses, I have to say the dressy jersey grecian long dress is GREAT -- I think the fabric is thicker, or double layered up top, or something, which is good, the waist detailing is very flattering, and the jersey makes it casual enough to wear day to day, I think. Also the dressy jersey pleated ruffle neck whatever dress (with the short sleeves and the empire waist) is very cute. The cut is a little strange, at least on me, cause it's not a true empire waist, I guess, and sits away from the body a little bit. But it's still very cute, and again the fabric is double layered up top which is great, especially if you can get away with not wearing a bra, it provides a little extra support I would imagine (no such luxury here, unfortunately!).

Whew! Sorry for the long post, but I figured since I've now tried almost EVERY knit dress I could offer some insight. The cotton bow dress is on its way, too, I'll let you know how it is when it arrives!!!

  22. I am seriously depressed. I had a dream about the dazzling dots pencil skirt at 5 AM. I woke up and it was available in my size! I tried to call the store on my way to work, got held up in a meeting, and when i got back it was totally sold out...

I am really sad :( If anyone gets this skirt in a size 4 and decides they don't want it, will you please email me? If someone sees it in a store in a size 4, would u put it on hold under Jane and email me?

    Jassjane@hotmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  23. In the alternative, I would also take the metallic linen pencil skirt, lavender, size 4.

I am one sad lawyer right now :(

  24. Anon @ 11:31 - I placed an order online for items that I could not locate at my local b&m, and I just email CS to onquire if the 25% off could be applied to the order. I sent the barcode on the back, as well as a pdf of the card itself. I hope it works! I have done all of my shopping this month at the b&m to get the additional 25% savings, but I had been desperately looking for these few items and when i saw it online I had to pull the trigger. Thanks for the suggestion to email CS!

  25. Alee, thank you for the review. I cannot wait to try on the pique v-neck ruffle dress.

  26. OT, but I have two men's ripstop cargo shorts that I bought at the sample sale for my husband and he doesn't want. They are a size 32W, colors are khaki and faded cement and are in perfect condition . I'm asking what I paid, $15 each + shipping. I posted them on the Great Weekly Exchange but I'm not sure that the male JCAs read that post as I've never seen men's stuff there, so I thought that I would repost here.

If you're interested, please email me at emallier@hotmail.com.

  27. I'm hoping they offer an add'l percent off in the next week or two(b/c oh how unfortunate that the 25% off card does not work for online orders.) I have my eye on a couple of the dresses, that are only offered online, that would be perfect for the great weather we've been recently enjoying!

    Bistro pants

  30. I have 2 of the 120's skirts (pin striped and solid) and I am 5'11". They hit just above the knee when I stand and definitely show a little thigh when I sit. They are conservative and the thick waistband definitely makes them look tailored and classic. I highly recommend these!

    enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  31. There really isn't anything I'm that excited about right now, but I am looking forward to seeing the new arrivals. Has anyone heard when they'll be online? I know the B&M's received them already.

    ReplyDelete
  32. i have the bistro pants. i sized up because they felt a little tight in the thigh, but after i wore them for a bit they really stretched out. i wish that i got them in my regular size.

i had to get them tailored as well because they regulars were realllly long. i'm 5'6 and i could only wear them with pretty decent size heels if i didn't want them to drag.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Stacy--Thank you. That really helps! 1:23

  34. has anyone tried the "Tall ripstop utility pant"? none of the pictures on the model are that great and im not sure about the green. Has anyone bought them in any of the colors? How do they look, are they too long for capri's?

    thanks!

  35. I need a JCA opinion. I am petite and trying to decide between a 2-button or 3-button suit jacket. Any advice on which works better for small women? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  36. they have the new catalog posted over at jcrewaholics

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think the number of buttons corresponds with chest size. I know I look better (more slim, less 'chesty') in a 3 button and I'm 5'3".

    ReplyDelete
  38. I feel an extra % off coming soon - I would almost prefer a no limit free ship code though.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Does anyone know if the stores have the new catalog out? I don't want to look at it online. Prefer to have the actual catalog for page folding and wish lists!

    ReplyDelete
  40. re: two v. three buttons. I don't think the buttons are as much of an issue as how high it breaks. Basically you want to make sure "the girls" are tucked in nicely. I think the general rule is only very small chested women should do one-button, but two button v. three button is really personal preference. Just make sure you're all covered.

  41. To follow up on my earlier post, I received a response from CS, and they said that they would be delighted to apply the 25% off on my order. It will be refunded to my credit card after the processing of the order is complete and shipment has
occurred. This adjustment will not be visible on the order status or on my invoice. I am greatly appreciative of this, and I think it is wonderful that they are honoring the red card for items that are not available in b&m's.

  42. Got my hands on the new catalog. Some notes:

    1. Double-serge (cotton) pencils are back, ladies! $98. Bronzed twig, tropical aqua, slate, stone and "shocking pink" (their pink of the season, I guess). Woohoo!

    2. Prices seem all over the place - some pieces seem reasonable (for JC), like the watercolor pencil skirt at $88 (usually those 'fancy' pencils are $128 or so), but this space-dyed cotton cardigan is $108!

    3. Still going crazy with the chiffon, rosettes, and such. That cotton-silk 'mystery tank' from the website is right on the main page - $79.50.

    4. Dammit, there's a new cute cardigan - the Georgia. It's not long (thank goodness), and has kind of a shawl-collar thing going on. I will not be partaking unless it's as nice as the library shawl. $78

    5. There is a new rolling ruffles tank on crack! - the Trevi shell ($138) has like, 4 different kinds of pleats/ruffles on it. It kinda makes the stick-thin model look pregnant.

    6. More of the usual suspects - capris, ballet flats, little jackets, etc.

    7. A lot of the models have the BRIGHTEST lipstick on - holy cow! I've never been distracted by the makeup in a JC catalog before.

All in all, it's nice enough - nothing I want except the double-serge cotton pencil, and may even wait on that. It's just tough to get jazzed about new arrivals after talking about decreasing quality - I can just *see* some of these pieces in my B&M's sale racks by Memorial Day.

Of course, it's always the JCA enthusiasm that has me taking a second look at stuff! :)

  43. Thank you for the information silver_lining!

    ReplyDelete
  44. marietta: were you able to use free shipping also?

    ReplyDelete
  45. You're welcome, FFM! I know you were interested in the mystery tank - it's called the "cotton-silk ruffle swirl tank", and is available in white, warm shell, and light pewter. Definitely has more of a halter-type neckline than a typical tank, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  46. silver lining - the watercolor skirt, is that the one with shades of pink that was in Marie Claire last month? If it is, I might have to call my b&m and see if they got it. I'd love to try it on this weekend. TIA

  49. # of buttons on suitsApril 21, 2009 at 5:49 PM

The number of buttons on a suit can correspond to the tailoring, but not always.

Typically a 1-button jacket is the least fitted. A 2-button jacket can be more fitted than a 3-button and is sometimes shorter as 3-buttons will often have one button on the chest area. The buttons and placement will relate to the tailoring and overall fit. Look at the entire fit of the jacket as well as the buttons and their placement to determine what will work best on your frame. Height is one consideration but so is your body shape and size. It's really a matter of fit and preference.

I have a very fitted J.Crew suit with a 2-button jacket and a less-fitted 3-button jacket suit. I purchased the shorter 2-button jacket with a higher-fitting skirt and the 3-button with lower-waisted pants as the jacket is longer. I prefer not to purchase the boxy, 1-button jackets as I like my suits with more tailoring.

  50. Anon. 4:12,

They do have the new catalog in the stores. I got one yesterday. I've got several pages marked already ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi math teacher - yup, that's the one! It's very cute IRL, 100% cotton, textured (very small diamond-like quilting? it's hard to describe). I'd go down a full size - the SA said it is running big. It's more high-waisted than the double-serge from the fall, but very cute. The background is more taupe than ivory, by the way. I picked it up with the 25% card.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Re watercolor skirt -

I just picked one up at B&M - have to size down too, as others mentioned.
Now need to figure out how to style it. Any ideas?

p.s. Also saw a few shell rosette tees on the new arrival table, along with the impressionist print tees.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Thanks Silver_Lining! Is it catalog/online only, or available in stores as well? I'd like to see it in person...I thought it was supposed to come in Navy and a couple other colors, too.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Can someone recommend another store that has really good quality knit t shirts and long sleeve shirts?

I dont see the color I'm looking for at J Crew...

    ReplyDelete
  55. Pakcola- gap has SS vneck T's and other cuts for $10 and $15. I've never had a problem with their quality. Also, Martin and Osa has some that I've heard are great.

  56. I have an OT question for any Aficionada that can help me out! I am looking for a sandal very similar to the Dauphine patent leather t-strap from last season. I would prefer for it to be non-patent, but I want the sandal solid black, with a black sole, and no heel or wedge. Would any of you have any tips on where to find some of these? I have looked everywhere!! TIA!

  57. Well...I had been holding out for the Danielle Gladiator shoes in metallic to go on sale - and not only did they not go on sale, but they are sold out in an 8 : ( Very sad. If anyone has a pair to sell - email me at pluce at directv dot com.

Which means I should probably stop waiting for the rosette capri sandals to go on sale...

  59. Went to my B&M today- a few new things were out. Some cute embellished tees, glass button cardis, the watercolor floral skirt and another linen skirt that is has an ombre yellow on the bottom.

I got the new catalog and as silver lining said, its got some really cute items. i agree that prices are all over the board. Something for every budget.

I purchased the boyfriend chinos in gray and one of the new tees. (used my red card) I really love the chinos- very soft and comfortable!

    ReplyDelete
  60. math teacher - it's 14864. The catalog refers to the color as "warm shell", which is probably that taupey-pink background.

FFM - it doesn't say catalog only, so I bet they'll probably have some store only colors (like navy).

Anon 5:42 - the space-dyed cardigan is long, V-neck and comes in 1 color, marled grey. Looks more like black and white textured kind of like the ringspun cotton(hence, the space-dye).

As far as styling the watercolor pencil skirt, I think there are a lot of options because there are so many colors in it. i tried it with a plain white tank, the beechwood striped Michelle cardigan, a pink button-down slim shirt, the tea rose short sleeved cardigan... everything looked good. There are greens and yellows in it too, so more options for mixing and matching! I think this one might sell out.

  62. Does anyone remember the chessy jacket? There is a jacket in the catalog that reminds me of it- except its gray- called the 'Silk gladiola knotted jacket' Looks really cute.

There are also some great collection pieces - an eyelet lattice tank $175, the poppy floral jacket $168, and the 'Goldwyn dress'$185. Seems pricey for this economy.

I wonder why this stuff isn't on the website?

    ReplyDelete
  63. thanks, silver lining and crewbie! I also appreciate the color options to wear with it. I will definitely give my ps a call tomorrow! I hope they have it in stock.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Good call, Crewbie - I was totally thinking of the Chessy jacket on that one! Quite a few of the pieces remind me of past items. As far as them not being on the website, the SA that gave me the catalog told me that I couldn't order from it till sometime next week - and in the past the new offerings have usually been online around the last Wednesday or Thursday of the month.

    ReplyDelete
  65. silver lining- did you notice the jeweled chinos on the same page as the jacket? What do you think of jewels on chino shorts?

    ReplyDelete
  66. OMG I did not notice those! Highly impractical for me, and I also think their "jewels" will probably catch on everything - especially the thin cardigans. If JCA's are complaining about jewels falling out of necklaces, I wonder how long it will take before they start falling out of shorts.

    ReplyDelete
  67. silver lining: did you notice any new knit dresses in the catalog or any non-pencil skirts?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Dina - yes, I used a free shipping code on my online order, and their response to me did not say that they would revoke the free shipping. This exchange all happened via email, which seems to be better luck than calling the CS number.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Joye- there is a great mini skirt called the 'mica mini'- a metallic linen with a folded over high waist- $150, 3 colors
Also a casual skirt called the Linen monterey skirt- drawstring waist, hits mid thigh on the model-comes in 3 colors azalea, bistro orange and light khaki $59.50 Its not a pencil skirt- its loose and flowy.

There are also some cute dresses: a strapless jersey dress that is made of the same jersey as the twisted strap dress on the site now, $78

Also the tiered linen playa dress- also strapless with three tiers of linen that go to about mid thigh $138

And 2 new beach dresses: the Piazza and the Lorelei. Piazza remonds me of the Sydney deco dot dress from last summer- a tank style. Lorelei is strapless and fitted to the waist. Both come in the embossed cotton and the Lorelei is available in a print.

    ReplyDelete
  70. crewbie: THANKS!!!! I'm so excited to see the new stuff in person now :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Other than the cotton pencil skirts, I don't see much interesting in the new catalog. I'm over ruffles and never bought into the chiffon embellishments. Maybe the glass-button cardi... I haven't bought anything at J.Crew in over a month and I don't feel I'm missing out at all, nothing really inspires me. I have spent a few hundred at Club Monaco, Lacoste and Ralph Lauren this month though.

  72. For all you J Crew shoe lover's out there- There is a really cute shoe called the Greer Pleated Satin sandal- $198- They have a wide pleat of satin across the top with an open toe and ankle strap. Very Cute!! They come in natural, shell, and golden cypress.

Also- a great necklace called the beaded Fireworks necklace- $118.

  75. I love the look of the new d'orsay heels in both the patterned fabric and suede. D'orsay's can be difficult for a lot of women to wear though, they have to fit just right or a little tight in the heel or your foot will easily slip out. J.Crew has offered d'orsays for sale every summer for as long as I can remember. I have a couple pairs so I know they have done them well in the past. I hope this summer's offering will be just as wonderful. They certainly look beautiful.

  76. Anon @ 7:26, the Rimini patent sandal comes in black and it's completely flat. It's a gladiator, but it looks very nice and chic (I saw it in store) and is less than $100. Item number is 12658.
While I was looking up the item number though, I saw the black Dauphine on the website in all the sizes, so maybe your quest is over? Item 94513.

    Hope it helps!

  77. Anon @ 6:18. Which store had the shell rosette tee? I'm still looking for one of those, thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  78. jennifer @ 1:52 - I tried on the ripstop utility cargos over the weekend. While I can't comment on how the tall version will fit, I can say that I was disappointed to find that the pants are completely see-thru. Not like "in the wrong lighting" sheer. Like oh my gosh you can see the floral print on my underwear through these pants sheer. It is baffling to me that an entire fleet of designers, buyers, and merchandisers missed that one. Bummer too, b/c I loved the way the pale blush ones were styled in the April catalog. Has anyone else tried them on?

    ReplyDelete
  79. Can someone please tell me what B&M stands for?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Ema: It's the Rock center store. There were quite a few in the back, next to the shoe area. They set up a table for new arrival tees. I only saw shell, no natural, and full price.

If you don't find them, ask Maria - she's one of the most helpful SAs there. Good luck!

Just a tip for all newbies reading blogs everywhere. You can google the acronyms and find out what they ALL mean.

  84. Here's hoping there will be some decent offerings in the men's department with the new release. It's getting to be so lame. I agree with the poster a few days ago, it looks like J.Crew is abandoning the men's line. Nothing fresh or new and no, absolutely NO deals. }:-{

    ReplyDelete
  85. lucegirl - did you try the 'we will find it for you service' for the danielle sandals? Sometimes it's sold out online but there are plenty left at one of the slower retail stores.

On 2 versus 3 button jackets. I actually ordered both styles to try out. For my figure (curvy and petite) the 2 button worked out better.

  86. I went to my local B&M and spotted watercolor floral pencil skirt. The fabric is thicker and the pink hue is a little bit stronger than I imagined, but it is absolutely beautiful! I could not go home without purchasing it:)

  87. thanks for all the helpful comments on 2-button and 3-button suit jackets! I really appreciate it!

  89. Marietta/Dina,
I did the same thing but was told they would have to (re)charge me for shipping if I wanted to use the 25% off card b/c I had free shipping initially. So I had to pay shipping but I got the 25% off.....which was better overall money wise.

  90. Has the website section updated today yet? I didn't to check yesterday so I'm not sure if this is the same old same old...was hoping for some new sale stuffy since it's Weds!

    ReplyDelete
  91. Bummer! I was hoping to wake up to a % off! I have a shopping cart full of stuff and really need to order it today to make sure it gets here when I need it! I wonder if some prices will drop today during the update!?

Question: Can anyone make a size recommendation on the Cate Patterned Sling Backs? I've read a couple reviews that said to size up, but I have narrow feet and I'm afraid sizing up might cause them to slip!

    Any help is appreciated! TIA!

  92. The big updates last week and this week seem to be on Tuesday. I noticed lots of items yesterday during the update and also things were actually in stock but only in 1 size usually but at least items were there!

Last Wed. items did go down in price.

    No update yet today.

Wondering if there might not be one...

I am totally guessing that the price drops might not happen again until next week when the new arrivals are out online.

  93. Pluce:

FYI...There are Danielle's in size 8 metallic gold right now 8:52 a.m. EST on JC's website.

I sent you an email too.

  94. Thanks, Sproutina! I'm headed to the local B&M on my lunch hour to pick up the new catalog and check out the new arrivals. Finally a sunny day and no rain here in Chicago.

  95. For all those who want to use their red card on online purchases:

I called my personal shopper at the B&M and she placed the order for me on the store's red phone, getting me free shipping (using the latest free ship codes) and my 25% discount. She didn't even ask for my red card # though I offered it; she said they had one on file... whatever that means. The items I ordered were either catalog/online only items or were a color or size (Petite) not available at B&M.

Hope that helps! For me, it certainly paid off having developed a personal shopper relationship, even though I don't buy much at the B&M.

Which state and city is the rock center store?
    Thanks

  97. Francesca,

Where the items you purchased through your PS on the red phone regular priced or sale priced? Even though I usesd a PS I had to pay shipping b/c my items were not full priced.

  104. Does anyone else get the feeling that final sale is going to be back tomorrow?

    ReplyDelete
  105. I hope so, it's the "sale I've been waiting for"!

  106. This is the weirdest JCrew order screw up related thing that has ever happened to me!

I placed an order with the FREESHIP code last week, and I just got it. The only reason I placed an order was to get the Double Serge Pencil Skirt in Bronzed Ochre. In my order, there is a skirt. It is labeled the Double Serge skirt. It is even the right size. But it is a yellow corduroy skirt. The WEIRD part is, that the tag on the skirt says 100% wool, Lining 100% acetate. It is a cotton corduroy skirt! What the hell is going on with their quality? This is the craziest thing I've seen so far.

  108. Ladies, I have an important announcement to make: the rosette tee is back in stock.
Thanks to the anon who yesterday night let me know that she had seen a few rosette tee in the Rock center store (anon at 10:10 am, I was clueless like, but at some point it hit me that it could be the Rockerfeller center in Manhattan), I called this morning and after speaking with 2 crewless SA (HeigiG patented term to indicate a SA that knows anything about the stock) I finally had one that knew what I was talking about and put one on hold for me.
I went and picked it up at lunch and they had plenty. They come in shell and in white instead of the natural (I bought both so I can think about which one I prefer).
So, if you are about to buy one on ebay for $80, call your store and get one for $36 (with the red card)!
Maybe they will go back on the website too when they update it with the new rollout.

  109. Anon 10:54 am on April 22:
Yes, the purchases I made were all spring sale items so already marked down, and my PS let me use my red card AND gave me free shipping. Sorry I didn't mention that earlier. Also, I called her from home at 9:45 a.m., just before the store opened, and she placed the order for me on the red phone; I didn't even have to go in the store!

  110. I just got back from my B&M and I am sooo disappointed in the new roll out. The watercolor skirt that looked so beautiful in the Marie Claire magazine is way bright IRL. I wanted to love it, but alas, I didn't even try it on. And there are too many fluorescent yellows and oranges mixed in. I do think there is some fabulous jewelry and I got a cute rattan (if that's the right word) clutch and white tshirt with watercoloresque flowers on it. I'm looking forward to seeing if there's anything else that's online-only when the new roll-out hits the website.

  111. @Ema
    Thanks !
I placed an order this morning after typing in various combination's of rock center and seeing the same result pop up , i called the NY store.

  112. Same shit, different day. Yawn.

  113. Ema--

You rock! Went to the Rockefeller Center story after work and picked up a pink and white rosette tee with my red card. I'm so delighted!!! Thank you for the head's up!

  114. The Belluvue Square store in Bellevue, WA has TONS of pink rosette tees. They said it is the "new batch", so call them ASAP. They are supposed to have flatter flowers is what they told me. What ever that means. I grabbed a white one. There might be a few more, but not as many as the pink. Also, I too have had 2 orders come to me where the package said the right item, but inside I had a completely different item.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Nothing exciting. I will not be purchasing plastic bottom shoes from JCrew ever again.

  116. Ema and Bluenana -

I'm the original Anon who sighted the shell rosette tees. But I don't recall seeing any white ones. Are they nice?

    And thanks for the heads-up.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Anon 10:33am--

THANK YOU! The pink and white tees are pretty, but as Anon 9:59am said they are a little "flatter," which doesn't bother me at all. I think the natural frayed look of the chiffon looks like it'll eventually fluff up a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Anon @ 10:33 pm. Thank you so much for letting us know about the Rockerfeller center store in the first place.
The "new" rosette tees look exactly the same as the old ones to me (really, I can't figure out any difference the flowers). The white one is pretty too and more summery (it's a real white), but I think the roses come out more in the shell (IMO).

  119. Bluenana and Ema - you're welcome. And thanks for the follow-up - now I'll have to hop over to check out the white ones!
