Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of what's left (if anything) in the winter sale or to see some new Spring/ Resort arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Long shot, but I'm still looking for the Victoria bright pink (fuschia) blouse in size 12 or 10 as well as the Victoria dot version.

I'd also like to find the deep persimmon Astrid ruffle jacket in 12 or 10.

And lastly the two tone uptown tote in pink/orange. Can you tell I love pink/orange?

Yep. That's my wish list. If anyone amazingly sees any of these items, please, please hold under Mili and post store location. Thanks, much! Off for some zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

  2. I'll be skipping the store this weekend. I was at the Towson B&M this evening (Thursday) and was unimpressed w/merchandise. I believe they're supposed to have new items out end of next week (?). I tried on a few random items that I may order from the web using the current promo. Blah, yawn.

Also, to those of you who like the Joley flats, check out these shoes - they look so great!

  5. Stanford shopping mall has quite a few travel trench left at $129.99. I see quite some 0 and 4, no 2. Didn't pay much attention to the larger size but seem to recall seeing size 8.

I recently purchased a two-tone from a JCA, and I might be willing to part with it, but I paid quite a bit. If you REALLY have to have it, please write me an e-mail, maybe we can figure something out...

  8. Travel trench ...
I saw a bunch in navy and khaki at the rockefeller center store (nyc) last night. They were 129.99 I believe. Not sure what sizes though.

  9. Again, plenty of Joley flats on sale for $79.99 (orange or bronzed twig) or 25% off all shoes at the Copley store in Boston, MA. Most $79.99 Joleys left are sizes 7.5 - 9.5 from what I can remember.

  10. Is the online rollout of new merch typically 1 week after the store rollout?

    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  11. Anon 8:08 - I think so. The manager at my B&M said they are expecting the "rest of spring" merch next Wednesday or Thursday (after that, only summer merch - "the usual skirts and flip-flops" she said, so it didn't sound like anything *too* interesting was coming), and if the online rollout is a week after that, sounds about right (the 26th). I think it's been established that the last Thursday of the month is the usual online rollout day.

There is a new cami out that's pretty cute - similar in style to the Cherie, but the neckline is tied in a bow at the collarbone. It's that typical paper-thin silk and came in two colors: an cantaloupe-y orange, and a dark pewter with cream neckline. I think they were $78. Best of all - NO SIDE ZIP!

Do they fit TTS, are the flowers a mixture of metallics or just gold?

  16. Mcshoppy,

I LOVE the Flora slingbacks!! I purchased them last year, and I wear mine ALL the time. I think that they run a little small, though. I am typically a 7 and they were quite tight until I stretched them.

All of the top flowers are gold, but there are layers of petals underneath the gold flowers that are white, ivory, and black. One of my favorite buys from JCrew ever!

  17. OT: I have an ivory puffer vest from this fall that desperately needs to be cleaned. The tag says to machine wash and tumble dry on low. Has anyone done this? How did the puffer hold up? I don't want it to lose any of its warmth and fluffiness. Thanks!

  23. I have the flora slingbacks from last year and love them but they definitely run small. I am an 8, always an 8 in j crew, and the size 8 flora are SNUG! I wear email anyway though. Wish I'd known to order 1/2 size up.

There was a two tone uptown tote in the colors described on eBay this week - not sure if it's still there though and I'm typing this from my phone so I can't send a link.

  29. it's.a.southern.thing: I have a puffer coat & vest that I have washed & dried & they turned-out great! I have actually washed the coat numerous times already & it still looks good! If you are concerned about it getting a bit "lumpy" you can always put a tennis ball in the dryer w/ it & that will help "fluff" it up! HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thank you Anon@8:34!!!!

I was browsing Polyvore and ran across some darling sets with these and I starting wondering how the heck I missed these last year! I also wear a 7 and have wider feet so I will need to size-up. There are tons of these on evil-bay and they are actually in line with the last sale price JCrew offered, so I won't be paying a premium 'Gottohavethese' price! I particularly like them with the crystal cardigan (shown in a set by a JCA, forgot the name). I can't wait for a sale on the sweater as it is only left in S and M and I need to do a WWFIFY. And, if and when it goes on sale and they restock in larger sizes . . .well, I have 60 days to return ;)

  34. it's.a.southern.thing, I've washed my puffer vest (last season's) at least half a dozen times, and it's held up really well. It's lost a few feathers but is still quite puffy. I wash on cold, then tumble dry low with a tennis ball, by itself.

    ReplyDelete
  35. MMM & Kate: Thank you so much for letting me know how your puffers held up in the washer and dryer. I didn't even think of drying it with a tennis ball, but that is a great idea! Again, thank you for being so helpful! :)

  36. Does anyone have the large oslo bag? Is the yellow a pretty color?
    Thanks for the opinions.

  37. I have a sleeve of tennis balls that I use for drying down everything, including pillows and duvets. They have never seen the tennis court, of course, you wouldn't want any dirt in with your clothes. I throw all three in and it makes a bit of a racket but works like a charm.

Use a mild, liquid soap in the wash and minimal fabric softener. Down mats when it is wet and you can get concentrated areas of soap or fabric softener if you go overboard.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It's true, a tennis ball in the dryer with down works like a charm. I use it for my comforter, puffer jackets, and anything else that needs a "pick me up!"

  45. Connie,
I'd say the travel trench is TTS. I usually wear a 4p but when there weren't any petites I grabbed a 4. Surprisingly it fits well on me. If you are very petite the sleeves and shoulders may be a little big on you. I find the sleeve cuffs to be weird so i just roll the sleeve up. There's a picture of me wearing mine. HTH!

  46. I'm painfully passing on visiting my San Francisco B&M this weekend, ONLY because I just got a new catalog in the mail last night, with a delightful gift inside--a $25 award card for the Emeryville store, opening March 17! It's worth the toll to check out the store and encourage a JCrew opening. [The new store director also sent a Store Opening postcard, with a handwritten personal note.] Classy rollout.

  52. I've barely bought anything from Jcrew B&M since they stopped offering an extra % off sale. I wonder if they will ever do that again.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi anon,

In my (limited) exp. the JCrew outlets aren't worth the extra drive time - which is about 45 min 'round here. I much prefer my usual B&M for 3 reasons.

1)the clothes - Most of the stock is made for the outlet & it shows. The giveaway is the noticeable diff in quality. For example, the Jackies come in slightly different colours & look like they would fade after the 1st or 2nd wash. If you're not certain about an item, look for the diamonds embroidered on the label.

    2) the selection- Usually, there are plenty of the made-for-outlet items in several colours, but not a lot of variety in the items. You may find 1 or 2 unusual things from last season wedged in here or there. However, there's usually a reason; they may be all XS, have a weird fit, or are made of a sheer fabric. Basically, they didn't measure up to the B&M regular customers expectations & were shuffled off to the outlet.

    3) the store floor. The store itself is rather bare- bones. There are fewer mirrors, unflattering lighting in the change rooms & no frills design choices (carpet is nicer on your feet & ankles than concrete).

That said, the staff was just as friendly & helpful as any SA I've met. Always willing to offer help.

So, you may find 1 or 2 treasures. However, I think you'll have a better exp following the tips on this blog & ordering from the sale site or using B&M specials.

    HTH,

    Heather:D

  54. Re: Outlet Stores

    I completely agree with Heather:D!

If its not out of your way, go for it. I have made the trek which took far too long of a drive for what was available. Better to grab the deals on the site or your B&M and figure the few extra dollars you pay that way are worth it for your time and the gas you spend.

Just as Heather said; the SAs are super friendly and helpful though!

  55. I will be in my b&m tomorrow, but mainly to try things on. Unless something reach outs and grabs me, I don't plan to purchase anything (although there are some things on my wish list).

  59. kendra,
i have the favorite fit everyday chinos in dark fog and they do have a higher rise which can be uncomfortable for some women. they still look good though. they come right to an inch under my belly button. i think you should try 'em on before buying them. but i think you should be able to return them since they're not final sale. i prefer the city fit to the fav fit. hth! :)

  63. Anon 5:23am ON's maxi's are not long enough for my long legged frame. I really wish they were because I could have gotten two for the price of one. ON's maxi's in a small fit those that are up to 5'5.
I don't wear pants or maxis that hit above the ankle which is why I order talls. High water pants or maxi's are not my style. LOL

  65. Hello all, I went to the JC Outlet north of Phoenix (Anthem) yesterday. My husband was in the big city for a conference so I dropped him off and did a shopping tour of the town.

The outlet had some cute stuff. However, the size run was very limited. They had almost nothing in L or XL, or above a 10. I asked if they don't get those sizes in and the mgr said they do, they just sell out first. Interesting! But very frustrating for me. If they had my size I would have bought something.

    Here is what I spotted:

    1. A version of the chiffon rose shirt. Black with a small pink rose, or white with a black rose. The rose is smaller but still has the same look as the original (though no writing).

    2. Several t-shirts that have the beading and/or ruffles and/or flowers at the neckline.

    3. A huge table of cardis that had rhinestone buttons with floral chiffon accents on each side of the neck. Also had cardis with the ruffle front.

    4. A whole rack of last year's Wendy skirt, though the wash seemed to be darker. It was like a second run.

    5. Tons of graphic tees.

Pretty much everything was a percentage off or on promo.

Right next door was the new BR outlet and the Gap Outlet. Both were hopping busy. I guess those 30% coupons were bringing people in. I know that was one reason I made the extra 1/2 hour drive after dropping my husband off!

  66. Where do any of you wear maxi dresses? To me it seems overkill for work, and even just for running around town. I'd love to hear how people make them work on a daily basis...

  71. I checked out the ON site for Maxi's they only had two styles in tall in clerance section. The faded and one FMM reviewed. I would never wear the faded and the striped one was only available in pink. No thanks I made a better choice and the material along with style of the Grecian is better. Its not too casual or dressy. Well worth the 98 bucks imo. Thanks for the info and concern.

  77. My wife has been getting the green screen error trying to surf around the J. Crew website. I finally determined that I had to turn off privacy control in my symantec client firewall in order to be able to see things on the site. It appears that the site is wanting web browser information. Personally, I don't think that's something J. Crew needs. I can surf any other retail site with privacy control on. Just thought I'd let you know what I found and maybe it will help someone or get J. Crew to make some changes. I found this blog by googling the error my wife was getting, so it seemed like a good place to post the informantion.
