J.Crew's Celebrating in Honolulu, Hawaii w/ $25 Off

A big "thank you!" goes to Erin who shared with us another great promotion from J.Crew. The J.Crew at the at the Ala Moana Shopping Center (in Honolulu, Hawaii) is celebrating its first anniversary and offering $25 off purchases of $150+ through the mail. This offer is good from 3/6/09 through 3/20/09.

This promotion is being snail-mailed to customers in the area (as oppose to being e-mailed). "Thanks!" again to Erin who was kind enough to share with us the scanned image of this promotion!

So if you live near Honolulu, Hawaii, chances are you will be receiving your promotion in the mail in the next couple of days, so keep "an eye out" for it. :)

Congrats to all those in the area!!! :)

  1. Ohh, congrats all you lucky Hawaii girls!

I loved shopping this store when hubby and I were in Honolulu last year - they were also having extra 40% off so I scored some super cute stuff!

  2. I got one of those to use in early February for the Town Square store in Las Vegas. It was their 1 year anniversary. I also got an e-mail one for the local outlet that celebrated its anniversary too. Pretty cool! I didn't find anyting at the outlet, but the coupon is still good ;)

  3. Alexis,
OT, but I went to a b&m yesterday to return something (I didn't buy or exchange, just a return), and the sales associate asked for my email in return for a 10% off coupon my next purchase. I told him they already had it, but he said that he'd put it in again anyway. He also said it could be combined with a student ID (I made sure to ask).

Has anyone else been offered this recently?

  7. Awww, I love how the style of the store is designed like the beach/resort boutique.

  8. Oh, another reason to miss beautiful Hawaii. But you know what, Hawaii has the most expensive sales tax... so I'd probably end up spending more anyway. Yay no tax on close in NJ! :)

  9. Hi! Don't know where to post this, so I will try several threads...

I was at the Asheville, NC Target today and they had 3 of the pearl, "j.crew-esque" necklaces. They were $10.99 a piece. I didn't get any because they're not my style, but if you want one, here's the store info: (828) 298-1262
The necklace style number (in case the store has trouble locating) is NK39424ATV

  10. FYI my mom was at the New Haven, CT store picking up a Nicky skirt for me (she is at Yale for a business trip and I OBVI made her stop by hehe). When she was checking out she mentioned that it's a shame she doesn't get my student discount or something like that and they told her that they ARE NO LONGER ADDING THE STUDENT DISCOUNT TO SALE MERCHANDISE. They said it was a new J Crew policy. It must be all sale too because nothing is final sale right now. I saw someone said this on an earlier post as well. Kind of a bummer. I guess it's good for full price items, but there always seems to be a 20% off private sale or EXTRA30 online promo to use. It seems like they are trying to phase it out. I guess I don't mind too much because I am graduating next year and won't be able to use it anymore. I am interested to see if others have heard this from their stores. Also, I can understand them not combining it with an extra % off sale, but regular sale? Like regular $59.99 or $99.99 tops?? That's a new one for me.

  11. Wow Lindsey, that new policy totally sucks. They accepted my student discount over the phone on a final sale purchase I made this morning on the website. If that's true for all stores I definitely will be cutting back how much I spend there. :(

  12. I made purchases yesterday an sale stuff with my student discount so i *hope* nyc stores don't get word of this new policy and the New Haven check was misinformed. Basically, I don't care either way, J Crew just needs to be consistent and not let half of the people get the discount. That's when I get upset. Like oh if I had that rep or that SA I would have saved 15%. It's just not right. Either have it and do it right, or don't have it at all. And no matter what the policy is, there are always people who seem to get 3 discounts combined and things like that. I have no problem with people asking for all 3 discounts, but it's J crew that needs to enforce their OWN policies. And just a bit OT, I know everyone is talking about vanity sizing, but I am a constant 12 in like all stores. I do agree however some pieces at some stores run wildy off and will therefore size people out, but on the whole I am the same size everywhere.

  13. OT - For those who look for the beaded zebra graphic tee in gray

I found a gray zebra tee in size L at my local B&M today (Carmel CA Tel: 831 624 2803). It was very cute! There was only one available right before the shop closed. So you might want to call in the morning.

  14. Hawaii sales tax is only 4.17% not the highest in the country....Please get you facts straight.

  15. OT - someone mentioned the Carmel, CA store - I'm moving to Monterey in a couple of months, and obviously my #1 priority is the quality of the local J. Crew B&M (well, that and finding a house ;-) ). Could someone from the area review the store, please?

Also, does the front page of the JCA blog look messed up to anyone?

  16. Front page looks OK now. Earlier, no posts were showing.m

  17. Anon, you can go take a chill pill. Maybe they charge the tourists more, LOL.

  19. Not sure where to post this, but I remember a little while back people were looking for the giraffe-print shorts. I saw many pairs (some 2s, mostly 4-8's) in the Stonestown Galleria San Francisco location. Their # is 415-731-3901 for anyone interested!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh, and the giraffe-print shorts were 39.99, no additional % off.

  21. The sequined zebra tee is so tacky and cheesy. I don't get the appeal.

You and me both. Why would you pay good $ to wear a zebra on your chest unless you worked with them at a zoo or gave tours in Africa:)

  23. Not to be mean or anything, but I would love it it they'd just do away with the student discount altogether or at least limit it to only full price merchandise. It just seems kind of arbitrary to single out educators (& students) as being worthy of a discount. I'm sorry!

Welcome to CA! Me too, it was my first priority to find a J.Crew B&M when I moved in here:) Carmel CA is very small compared with B&Ms in SFC and San Jose. But I love this place because I can find items which are sold out at B&Ms in big cities. Also this shop offers discount earlier than online sometimes. SAs are very friendly and they helped me a lot when I was screwed up with internet fiasco last summer. If they carry more shoes, I’d be happier, but it’s so far so good. HTH!

Ever worked in a school? I have for 10 years. I am expected to dress nicely on a beginning salary of $22,000 a year--my salary goes up about $1,500 a year. Teachers make very little money and have to dress nice. If you are single, it is hard to make ends meet. Imagine being a man and the bread winner on that salary! Stop being jealous and move on. I know of no other profession that requires nice clothes on such little$

  26. Naomi -

Thanks very much for your review. :) I'm so glad the SAs are friendly - that's super important.

Could you tell me whether they are good about applying the student/educator discount? Also, are they helpful where the red phone is concerned? (At my current store, some SAs will only let you apply any additional % off to items that are actually in the store, but not in your size, while others will let you apply the discount to absolutely anything you want, even catalog-only items, as long as it's on sale.)

Thanks again for your help!! :)

  27. If you are starting out in one of several business careeers you will make about what a teacher makes. I made less than my teacher friends when I started in the financial industry. I took a part-time job to supplement my income and I was already working long hours in my career job. You don't have to buy expensive clothes to look well-dressed. A few quality skirts and pants paired with tailored dress shirts and decent shoes and you can look well-dressed and polished. You can also shop consignment.

We are all working hard these days and it is unfair to give a discount to one profession. Students I can understand, because that is supposed to be a temporary thing and most of them are broke, but singling out one career is something that annoys those with a different career. Just search this blog on the educator discount and you'll see it is hotly discussed every time. Justify it all you want but there is no reason for a biased discount. If you can't afford to shop at a store then shop somewhere else.

Ever work in a school? Bet not, that is why teacher's deserve it over any other profession. What they have to deal with on a daily basis...wow, you have no clue. NO CLUE! Ever had headlice?? Very contagious--what a great perk. I could go on and on...ever been hit by a coworker? Teachers I know get hit by students.

As far as I remember, Carmel CA SAs are very generous in terms of additional % off. Unfortunately I am not qualified for student/teacher discounts, but I could use 10% off special promotion card on top of additional 30% off during last holiday sales. I didn’t pay any shipping costs when I ordered full-price items by red phone last year but I am not sure if it is still free.

I know it is very small shop. But since it is small, some SAs remember customers’ names. Recently one of SAs gave me a call when they got the item I looked for (even though I am not a big customer for them). I am trying to take the good with the small:) HTH!
