Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of the post holiday sales, the additional 20%-50% off sales, or to see some new January/ Resort arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

    Many thanks!

  2. I'm so B&M'd out. Although the new floor sets are supposed to be rolling out on Monday (according the manager at my B&M). . . .

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'll be going to make a return today. The new Spring rollout for women will be on the floor of my B&M next Thursday...can't wait! :)

  4. No, I won't be going. Not really into the spring stuff either until it goes on sale--I never purchase at full price. I did place 2 orders this week so looking forward to getting them.

  5. I stopped into my B&M yesterday to pick up a coat I had on sale - they didn't have much, but a few things maybe worth mentioning:

    • A wool Taryn peacoat, size 4 - I think it was marked $179
    • A bunch of what I believe was the Madeline coat, in Dark Poppy - all size 2 or 0 - marked to $99, plus additional 30% off
    • A black Madeline dress, size 10, marked to $149
    • Ivory double serge pencil skirt, size 10, $49
    • two sherpa-lined zip-up hoodies, navy and brown, both size M, $39
    • LOTS of ivory peacoats, not sure on the size or price
    • one long-sleeve cashmere tee, bright papaya, size S, $49

Their number is (248) 449-6690. That's all I can remember that might have been of interest - hopefully this helps someone!

    Anyone seen these?

  7. I'll be visiting B&M today to make a bazillion returns. Ok, not that many but alot. :)

  8. Looking for the Abstract rose-print dress in a size 4. Unless someone can confirm it does not fit tts!!
    Thank you!

  9. Again, if anyone wants the black cascading flowers jacket in size 4, let me know and I'll put it on hold when I return it.

  10. Oh, I hope I'll be able to stop by a b&m...I'm heading to Asheville NC on saturday, which is where my nearest store is. Does anyone frequent this store? Any good deals going on?

    Tissue Pleated Top Item 13125

I ordered a size small in Pewter and think it is TTS. Although the shirred, scooped neck makes for a very pretty, sexy neckline it is too low for me. Wearing a visible cami/tank underneath would not look good, or would take away from the effect of the scoop.

The front of the shirt has two layers of tissue fabric so it is not see through. The back is one layer of tissue fabric.

The body has enough fabric to safely size down, although it is not overly bulky. The 3/4 sleeves are loose on the forearm (you can see that on the model).

I will size down to XS only because of the scoop being too low for me.

I layed the top flat to take these measurements:
-length of scoop from stitch line on back of top to low point of scoop: 7"
-shoulder seem to shoulder seem: 13"
-circumferenne of top at waist area: 17"x2 = 34"
-length of top from stitch line on back of top: 24"
-bottom of top has rolled edges; it is not sewn with a seem

  12. I may go to a B&M to return a Madeline dress that I love, but really don't need. I bought it for a holiday party that turned out to be "casual chic." I haven't needed the dress for another occasion yet, and I don't get dressed up too often. I don't think the style is timeless enough to keep "just in case."

  13. As usual, the website is fully stocked in FS again this morning. I just saw a couple things that I haven't seen in a while. It's like an online JC "sample sale" where they restock every day. I guess that's how they drag traffic to their unreliable website. Strange....

  14. I just got a Black Maggie! Score!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I went to a B&M yesterday. Sale section was really picked over. Yet they were willing to match online prices so I scored a green avocado portland cardigan for $20.99, a henna tee for $6.99, after the extra 30% off. I spotted a pair of size 11 Serengeti heels. Not my size but maybe some of you were looking for them.

  16. Anyone try on/buy the Kya cami? I read Shannon's review but would like to ask for other opinions before I make the purchase. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'll be heading to my local B&M - Easton Town Center - to make a bunch of returns (yes, again). Last time I was at the Polaris store it had literally nothing so my expectations aren't too high.

Also, I just scored a pair of the Babette-Jeweled Feather Peep-Toe Heels in black (size 9H). I'd been stalking these for weeks and I was convinced they didn't come in sizes above a 9. Does anyone know if the Jeweled Plume Clutch was also made in black? It's shown in desert brown in the sale section.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Where is Shannon's review on the Kya? What is her blog name or link, please?

    Thanks.

  19. I already visited J. Crew. Picked up the merino trois rosette tank for around $10 and some high heel flare jeans for around $15. Good deals, although I didn't see much else in my store.

  20. Melissa-

I just bought the white Kya cami yesterday at my B&M and I love it! It looks great under cardigans. I found it fits TTS. The fit is more like the new Victoria cami, rather than the Elizabeth (which looked like a tent on me!) One downside though - it is pretty low, so you do need to wear a cami under it.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Melissa -

On the Kya cami. I tried it on but did not end up purchasing it. It is very pretty and has some stiffness to the fabric. I really liked it but my objection to it was the keyhole button closure on the front. It was super revealing on me. I am larger busted so that could be the reason. If I sized up it would swallow me everywhere else. I tried on a size 4, the size I have taken in the other camis like the Bria and the fit was very similar. HTH.

    Italian greta houndstooth whihch I know was some people's miss--is online in 0, 4, 6, 8

  23. Has anyone tried on or purchased the dream v neck cardigan available online? I would like to know if it is TTS ....I know the style of this sweater is shrunken..I was hoping it wasn't too shrunken!

  24. Can anyone comment on the color light spearmint? Is it a true pastel or is it more of a muted color. I can not wear pastels, but in some of the t-shirts it doesn't look pastel online. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't think light spearmint is a pastel; it's actually kind of bright. Very pretty!

  26. Good morning everyone!

For those of you who bought the kya cami b&m, was it on sale for $59.99 like it is online? Also, has anyone seen the bria cami on sale b&m either? Thanks girls.

  28. I checked out the Michigan Ave. store in Chicago yesterday. I found the typical sale discount of 30% plus my teacher discount of 15%. (I had a 25% off coupon before the holidays that was a better deal - because I could get 30% off final sale and an additional 25% off) With this discount, I was able to buy the Elizabeth halter top in navy and pink for $30.00 each and the deco-print dress for $30.00 - which is cheaper than they are now. Most of the prices were the same that they have been for awhile. I was disappointed with the very small sale section. I did find the madeline jacket in red (just featured on the show Privilege) for a total of $59.50!
($99.99 before the discount - $129.99 online) and they have a large selection of the glittens for $9.99. An unexpected find was the Metallic Vita top for around $18.00. I am still looking for the martine cardigan in orange and pink from the fall final sale. I missed out on that sale and I am kicking myself over this sweater. Does anyone know where I could find it??

  29. Hello all. Just wanted to give a quick product review on the high heel flare jean. I don't know why the website hasn't completely sold out. You should all be logging on and ordering multiple pairs right now- especially now with the faded blue wash marked down to 29.99 with the additional 20% off. I ordered my first pair just before the holidays and love them so much I ordered another yesterday for back up. I found them to be true to size although a little snug at first. Do not be alarmed; they stretch nicely after your initial wearing. I normally am a 32 in JCrew jeans and cords and was as well in these. JCrew is the only place I feel confident ordering things from without ever having tried on that particular item- the final sale never really worries me!
The jeans are soft, the blue is vivid and unique, the pocket placement is divine and the waistline high and slimming. These literally are the jeans of my dreams and I think are vital to every woman's closet. I personally am over seeing every single person in the free world wearing skinnies skinnies skinnies. Viva la high heel flare!

  31. copley in boston has very little left.. some graphic tees, cashmere tees, luxe city fit cords, and I saw ONE "michelle obama" yellow colorblock sweater in XS there earlier in the week. lots of gloves and a few scarves. puffer vests in brown. extra 30% off final sale.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lots to share! First, even though it was NEGATIVE 30 degrees here in Chicago with the wind chill factor, I somehow found it reasonable to make a trip to a b&m last night. You guys? I am still excited over what I found. First, a Victoria in black, priced $59.99 on sale, added extra 30% off, plus 15% student discount. Next up, a Quinn cami in pale almond, priced $19.99, added extra 30% off, and student discount again. I grabbed another Victoria, this one gray, at full price plus student discount. The total for all three tops, including tax? $133. Overall, I found it to be a very worthwhile trip!

There are tons of Quinn cami's left in the Oakbrook, IL store at $19.99. At least 15 were in an orange sherbert color (variety of sizes), a handful of pale almond, handful of black. Plus, extra 30% in store. I thought this was a great deal considering they are still $49.99 online (sale). They also had a ton of the cami's with the flowers bunched on the side for $9.99 if I remember correctly and the chiffon rosette cami's for $19.99. There were a few houndstooth looking skirts.

Unrelated, I stopped in my local Target before work the other day and saw a bunch of jewelry that reminded me very much of the J.Crew "bubble" necklace. Some great "bubble" inspired earrings in a turquoise, as well as salmon. They also had a "bubble"-like necklace. I'm going to go back this weekend to inspect further. But once I saw the rack, I thought of J.Crew and how great the stuff would go with my spring/summer J.Crew items. Thought I would share in case it helped anyone else.

  33. i second hillary's comment on the high-heel flare jeans. i love love LOVE mine! (I have multiple pairs as well). Fit perfectly, pocket placement actually makes your posterior region look good (unlike the small-pocketed BR jeans which seem to enhance everything...not in a good way) - and they're SO comfortable! Highly recommend!

    ReplyDelete
  34. hillary - a few people posted negative reviews about the high heel flare jean. Perhaps it flatters a certain figure or height. I have a couple pairs of the wide-leg cords from last winter, which IMO fit similar to the high heel flare jean. The cords are OK, but matchsticks are much, much more flattering for my figure. The wide legs always seem to make me look larger than I am. For that reason I did not purchase the high heel flare.

Thanks for the review. Hopefully helps some people.

  35. I'm really annoyed with J Crew today. I finally received my order that I placed over two weeks ago this morning. Tried on all the items and noticed a whole in one the tops. Called CS to order a new top and complain about the defective top and she told me they sold out of the color I wanted. This is not the first time that I recieved a FS order with a defective item, this is the 3rd time in the last 3 months. J Crew really needs to work on quality control....

    ReplyDelete
  36. no way. it's like, 10 degrees and I want turtlenecks and earmuffs, not silky camis. I don't care about the spring items until it's actually spring and they're on sale.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think the high waisted jeans appear more flattering because they hide all the bulk that lower waisted pants do not.

I've seen high heel flares in lighter blue color in store & thought Wrangler! Scream & run.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm actually going out of town until Sunday, so I probably won't get to visit a B&M until next week. I may be out and about in Georgetown on Monday, but DC is so packed with tourists this weekend that I'm sure the J.Crew there has been emptied.

I did receive a package yesterday and have to report that I LOVE the cashmere pullover hoodie! It's adorable on and SO soft. I also bought two of the zip-up cashmere hoodies, however one had holes across the front :( so it will be going back. Also I got the French-terry yoga jacket which I love as well. I got it in black and may buy another!

Since one of my zipped cashmere hoodies was damaged, I'm on the lookout for the bright papaya in a medium. If anyone sees one please let me know!

    Happy Friday!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Yeah I am on the fence about the high heel flares. I think they would look really good on someone who has... curves. I do not, and they just emphasize this in a bad way, making me look even more boyish than I am. I want to love them but I just can't.

Then again, I don't like any of JCrew's jeans except the trouser jeans. The midnight blue trouser jeans are wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've tried on the high heel flares, and while they were very flattering, they were WAY too long. I get that you're supposed to wear them with high heels, but I'm about 5'3" and even with my highest heels they would bunch up and drag on the ground. I wish they came in short like the Boy jeans do.

  47. Since we're on the subject of jeans, has anyone tried the bootcut jeans in authentic vintage wash? I thought they'd be on sale by now, but the fact that they're not makes me think they must look good on a lot of people, and are selling well. Any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  50. Kat - I also got the Cashmere Pullover Hoodie in Snow and in Dark Slate. I've been wearing them the last few days since they arrived - so comfortable! The hoodies also help keep you warm in the -10° temps we've been having (in Ohio) lately.

    ReplyDelete
  51. anon @ 11:09 AM

I used to buy the bootcut all the time, but they have changed the inseam length on petites (longer now) and they are more expensive, so I do not buy them anymore. The only jeans I buy now are levi's (usually the slim straight leg or bootcut) b/c they are reasonably priced (plus often on sale), durable, and I don't have to get them hemmed!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I went to my B&M to return a defective item (worn!) last night. The sales section was unprecendentedly organized with a full desk of perfectly folded fafart tees. I did not inspect further what else was at the back which I am glad. I seriously should wash my hands for now, a month or two ;) I actually also decided either popping in the sample sales on the last day or not going at all! Ah well, we'll see. Haha.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Anon @ 9:56: I have the dream v-neck cardigan, and I found that it runs pretty TTS. I take a medium is all J Crew cardigans (the Jackie, the Tartine), and that's what I needed in this sweater as well. I didn't find the shape or fit to be too shrunken (I didn't have to size up), just short. I'm not a long-waisted person, and this cardigan hit me above above the waistline of my pants - not short enough to be cropped, but a little shy of a regular-length cardigan.

If you have any other questions, let me know!

  56. OT, has anyone here tried steaming a Victoria themselves? I saw a post on here the other day regarding a steamer and it made me think again about purchasing one. I'm wondering if steaming a Victoria oneself would be a project and a half with all the pleats?

  60. I'll add a rave about the high heel flares from someone who is 5'3 (and a half!) and curvy. They're such a bargain right now -- totally worth getting hemmed for us shorties. I thought they ran a bit large. I'm usually a 27 but the 26 fit fine. Maybe a freak pair?

The favorite fit vintage cords are great as well. They were a bit looser in the 2 than other cuts of pants. Worth hemming, too. . .

  66. Anon @ 11:20,

I always get N/A for the tracking info and when I called they told me it is because I live in Canada. Not sure where you are, but a couple of days after getting the email confirming shipment, either call CS or email "contactus" and get a tracking number. If they tell you they don't have a number, wait one more day and have them check again.

I absolutely never get the # on the website, although the old website used to give it every time.

  68. Does anyone know how the Alpaca shawl-collar cardigan fits?

I usually where size 4 or small with JCrew but recently I bought the sherpa hoodie and had to get a medium because the arms were really tight. Anyone know anything about the cardigan?

    ReplyDelete
  69. I will be visiting a J Crew on Monday. My closest one is 50+ miles away in Tampa but my husband has a Doctor's appt so we will be visiting the store as well.
I have a return- the Silk Chiffon dress which I see if no longer available in the Black. I also have a black Daphne dress I am trying to convince myself to keep.

I hope they have a feather sash and maybe a Lydia in Saffron for me!

I am also happy to say that an order I placed on 1/14 has arrived today. WOW! I cannot yet speak of the qulaity of the items, but my husband looked over the packing slip for me. Despite what others have posted about not having FINAL SALE marked on their items, mine sadly does state this :(

  71. TTS to slightly big- I'm petite (5'2/110 lbs)and found the sleeves to be a little long but I just fold them over and it looks fine. I ordered a small and I am very happy w/ the size as I still have a little room to layer.

I have it in Htr Moss and it is a really pretty muted color.

  72. High heel flares didn't do it for me, too high waisted and too long even with heels! *WRANGLERS, HA< AH!* I do so love the fit of the Luxe Trouser cords, though. I got a pair in slate and they're comfy, warm and wicked flattering. Maybe that could be a poll, which fit is fave on which figure? I vote for city fit on curves.

  75. Re: shawl alpaca, I have a non-cardi version from last year. Nice and warm, not too pilly. I did handwash mine though, and I shrunk up a bit so I wish I sized up. This year I wear it with a long tank in a bright color underneath to make up for shrinkage. Also, I found it to be slightly shoddily made, or maybe one of the wonderful pre-worn items you get from ordering online sometimes. The shoulder seam and one of the pockets were loosely stitched, so I did a quick hand sew to shore up the seams on those two parts. (Couldn't return, final sale) In the end I'm glad I kept it since it's so cozy. good luck with your cardigan!

Steaming is the ONLY way to go with the Victoria--wait until you see what it looks like afterwards-it is magnificent and beyond simple to do. You simply run the steamer up the front and it is like magic right before your eyes!
If you do not own a clothing steamer--I would forgo any purchases (if necessary) in order to own one. What a difference this tool makes in your wardrobe! HTH!

  78. About the high heel flares, I tried them on in the store (I am almost 5'7") and they were actually too long on me! I would have been stepping on them, even in heels. I don't know why they make them so long.

  80. The b&m store at Short Pump Town Center in Richmond, VA told me last night that 400 cartons of spring items would be on the floor today, due to the expected increase in traffic, as local hotels are booked with overflow for the DC Inaugaration next Tuesday. The remainder will still go out next week.

  81. Argyle - did you return the cascading flower jacket yet? Do you know how much it is on sale for? I think I want it!!

Does anyone know what the sale sections look like in the Southern California stores?

PS. I love the high heel flare jeans, but I think it's because my legs are long so these are the perfect length, and quite the bargain right now!!

  82. Glorious Steamer - what brand/model of steamer do you own? I need to get one.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Re: high heel flares-I own them too, and love them. I find that the tall slightly curvy to curvy body works best for them, especially if you are tall simply because you have very long limbs and not much torso, as I am. I'm 5'9 and 140 lbs. usually wearing a 28/29, depending on the pant (though, to be honest, more size 29 of late). If you are generally short, or just have short legs, these might not work so well for you. In case this means anything to anyone, they fit me much like the paige rising glen, my all time favorite jeans.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Shannon,

I have the vintage slim in a different color. They fit TTS, not like the baggy pants they put on the models. I love them but my mom keeps telling me she wants to patch the holes in my jeans:)

  90. You all are making covet the high heel flare! I am considering it! I have never bought pants online because I am SO picky about pants. I like pants that fit snug on the hips but a bit looser in the thigh. Would these fit the bill. I am slightly curvier on the bottom than the top and sounds like these would be good? I suppose I could try them as they don't seem to be final sale online...

I bought the luxe satin sash last night in citron. Champagne was my first choice (sold out) but I preferred the citron to the pink (also sold out). I just hope it isn't too bright...does anyone know?

  95. Glorious Steamer - Jiffy has a travel steamer that looks awesome. I need a new one, my ancient Franzus conked out and I travel a lot so portable is best. The Jiffy travel steamer even has a voltage converter available. Great for when my travel adapter is busy charging electronics.

    Thanks much!!

  96. I think the High Heel Flares are the worst style of jeans ever--I tried all three washes and the fit was different on each! Beware these on final sale without trying on in store first. They all vary.

Don't get me wrong. I love many of the JCrew jeans. These just did not fit for me in the waist, hips, etc and I am 5'9 3/4"

  98. Can anyone help me with the fit of the colorblock dress? I think it would be perfect for work. I am normally a 2 or a 4 in their dresses, but I ordered the Super 120s Abby dress this year in a 4 and it was too small across my hips. I just don't know what to do and final sale makes me nervous. THANKS!

  99. Pardon my ignorance, but is there a big difference between an actual steamer versus using the steam function on one's iron? TIA for any advice!

Also, what's a reasonable price for a decent steamer? I don't need to go super cheap, but I won't use one enough to buy top of the line, either.

  100. Hi all! If anyone sees any matchstick cords in either wheat (prefer) or acorn, size 27S, 27R, 28S, or 28R, could you please put them on hold and post back with the store? I'm *DYING* for a pair. Thank you sooooooooo much!

  101. I purchased the dream simone in navy and it just arrived today. Cute, understated and simple. Not at all flashy like it appears online. Perfect with old faded jeans and boots. I think I can pull it off as a spring sweater too. Good price at 60 dollars. Don't think I would have paid full price for it though. Is anyone going to the king of prussia B&M this weekend?

  102. Thanks for the tip, Glorious Steamer! I have amassed quite a few Victoria's and only wear them under sweaters and cardigans. I prefer handwashing over drycleaning, but wasn't sure if a steamer would cut it on the Victoria. Happy to hear that it will! :)

  105. At SF Center store on Wednesday evening:

Boucle pink scarf coat in a 0 for $99.99
lots of carrie coats, but the small sizes were all in the acorn $99 marked too
some ivory coats in sizes 8+
GLENBRAEs in 6.5 in sandstone for 159 I think (the high heel ones -- I love my hh dark maple glenbraes)
    and size8+
    a few bromley boots
the gold lame skirt, in 0 + others
pink dupioni, but no 0s at the time

    everything was addtl 30%

btw the gold lame did not work for me in store - stuck out funny on the sides. Slastena wears it so nicely, but just a warning. I ended up ordering the champagne dupioni in petite.

the spring line is in, and more coming next week. I tried on the new trench and the sleeves were too billowy and the body too big. I wish they made it in Petite or )) because the lining is supercute! HTH!

  106. Someone was looking for the white kya cami in size 0--just saw one at Rockefellar Center store for 59.99-30%.

Re: steamers, if you're not going to get a quality one, don't bother. The cheap ones don't work well. Also, I have had luck just using dryel on the victoria cami and using a good iron on the silk setting to iron the body. You can hold on the iron over the pleats on the steam function without having to individually iron every pleat.

  107. Hi J.CrewAdorer-
I was at Walmart last night and meant to check out the steamers. Of course, I forgot about it while I was there and realized this once I walked in my front door! I have since decided I will most likely buy the Conair deluxe compact version mentioned on this blog. With the 20% off coupon that Bed, Bath, & Beyond is always mass mailing, the price should hit around $30. I'll let you know how it works!

  108. steaming hot in California -

The steam function on your iron requires the iron to be quite hot and as a result can scorch some clothing. A steamer is much more gentle and you won't accidentally press a wrinkle in either.

A steamer will not press a knife pleat into your clothes like an iron will, and it will not make your clothes crisp like an ironed shirt looks, but it is really useful for getting out wrinkles, much better than an iron.

I use a steamer on my suit jackets, skirts and pants. I would never go near them with an iron.

  110. Hi steamer Ladies- Here is my experience:

If you plan to buy a cheap steamer, take that money, tear it up, and use it for compost, as this will save you time.

Cheaper steamers do one thing well. They make your wrinkly clothes, WET and wrinkly.

Buy the best or save your money.

    ReplyDelete
  111. dryel works great...used it on my ecole jackets when they arrived wrinkled from being in the shipping box. I did one at a time. It scared me but it WORKED! NO wrinkles!
I also have a pair of the high heel flares and I love them. The rise and fit is higher than the matchstick and bootcut cords. The leg is not too tight and the flare is sooo cool! Looks great with any heel... Instant posh.

  113. I agree, buy the best steamer you can afford. I inherited my ancient Franzus from my aunt, who was a seamstress. My mother said it is circa 1965 and it says "Made in U.S.A." on the bottom. It worked like a dream and just recently died when it appears to have been punted somewhere in the travels of my luggage from the check-in to pick-up on the baggage carousel. I will definitely be getting a quality unit to replace it because I cannot live without my steamer.

  114. I am also a (pleasantly) surprised enjoyer of the High Heel Flares. I have been wearing matchstick cords, jeans and denim lightweight trousers for the last two years, but also enjoy 7 for all Mankind and Citizens of Humanity jeans. I bought a pair of Joe's Jeans, similar to the High Heel Flares, at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this past summer. I feel that the High Heel Flares fit are very comparable to the Joe's Jeans. I think that they fit GREAT. The fit snug through the top and then fit like a trouser leg. These are sleek and grown up. They look GREAT with heels. I bought two pairs, one to shorten (yes, you CAN get them hemmed) to wear with flats and one pair to keep long when I want to wear heels (out with hubby). I LOVE THESE JEANS. They do lengthen the leg (as claimed). I think they are very slimming and would look great with a cami and cardi, or another fitted top. They make me look skinny! Is there anything more I can say about them? Love these jeans!

I'm going to return it this weekend to one of the stores in Birmingham. Just email me:

Tell me what name to have them hold it under. I'm hoping they'll let me put it on hold and not have to ship it back to the warehouse. If I don't hear from you, I'll just have them hold it under "JCA". If they won't let me put it on hold, I'll let you know the # where I returned it and you can call.

  117. I definitely second what Anon said above re cheap steamers. A good one is a godsend - makes your clothes look fantastic, and so quick - but I bought the one that is sold at the Sharper Image (travel one I think), it was around $30. Anyway, I returned it because all it did was spew water all over my clothes!! It was so frustrating, esp when I tend to want to be able to steam delicate fabrics that aren't supposed to get wet!!! So - I know they have some other portable ones in Target etc eg Rowenta?? but I am gunshy since my previous experience. If anyone has a good travel one, please post!!

  133. Cashmere Crazy: Looks like I won't be headed over to Easton till tomorrow (morning, hopefully - while there's still a place to park!)

    Items I'll be returning:

    • Handknit Cable Popover (Item #98143), Size Small, Camel
    • French Silk Twill Vionette Tank Dress (Item #99177), Size 4, Graphite
    • Patent Leather Magic Wallet (Item #13933), Lemon
    • Velvet Ecolé Jacket (Item #97130), Size 4, Black
    • Small Leather Thompson Tote (Item #99189), Tan Rose
    • Cashmere Scarf (Item #99203), Snow
    • Perfect-fit flower tank (Item #99268), Size Small, Camel

All the items except the Thompson Tote are still in their plastic bags - sad when you decide you don't want to keep something without even trying it on...but so it goes. Also sad that this trip has less returns than most times. What can I say, I hate shopping at the mall. I order everything online to avoid going there, only to have to go the mall to return them. *sigh*

I tried to return a 4 skirt for a 6 and a sales girl gave me so much poop. I eventually did get to do the exchange after talking OR telling the manager what I wanted!! Then at the end the sale/exchange the girl told me that I really need to remember the stores no exchange no return policies. I told her to get over it and left with the size I wanted. Whatever! Well it was a pain!! so beware of and exchange for even the sane item. I am never rude or mean but this burned me!

  147. My mom owns a dry cleaner and she has an upright Jiffy steamer. It works really well but the only down size that I could see would be that it takes a little bit of time to warm up b/c it has a fairly large water capacity. If you are running out the door at the last minute it could take you an extra five min to get the water nice and hot.

Steamers are meant to get wrinkles out and should not really be used to iron pleats or anything of the like as you will most like be disappointed.

PS: If you get a male CS rep, you may want to consider calling back. My experience tells me that the female reps are more sympathetic and kinder (they "get" it). I mentioned JC's inconsistent sizing, and which woman on earth could buy jeans without trying them on? The female reps totally get it and are willing to help.

My high-heel flares were $18. 29.99 minus the 30% off and the 15% teacher discount. Not bad!

    worth hemming!

  181. nojcrewinjapan,
I saw the pink blair dress IRL. I liked the colour but I'm petite so i never ordered it fearing it would not fit. It isn't bright neon. It's muted, but not dull. Glad you found a good fit already.

  182. Wil there ever be more Sanur dresses in black - or any color in XS - on line? One is not even able to back-order it... and they are not in my b&m...

  183. Anyone else think that the Cate leather slingbacks in warm blush would be tanish/neutral like I did? They are really pink! I'm so surprised... they don't look pink on screen, and my monitor usually seems spot-on wrt color. back they go...

Thanks for the description of the dark peony color. I might get it. Looks like there's tons in stock so I won't have to rush but its good to know it really isn't "loud."

  185. Anon 6:54: I actually really liked the Thompson Tote, but after also getting the small Odile, the Frankie and another small Oslo, and another Jamie bag, there was no possible way I could justify keeping the Thompson tote (it was also the only one of all the bags that wasn't final sale). The Thompson has gorgeous leather and is the perfect size - not to small, not too big. If it's still around in a month or two I might reconsider. HTH!

  186. nojcrewinjapan: The super 120 dress in dark peony is gorgeous. Its not neon or bright, but is a very saturated color. (BTW, the dark peony Ella dress and Teagan ruffle shirt are also "dark peony" but a darker hues.) Fabric is gorgeous. I had a hard time with the fit and had to pass. I was so, so disappointed! If the cut worked for you, you should definitely try the dark peony. It will be a great color going into early spring.

  187. I have the Thompson tote in metallic guava and I LOVE it. The leather is very supple and the metallic color is really nice. I get compliments on it every time I use it. I would highly recommend it. It's great if you're like me and love big bags to throw everything in.

I have a friend who has the Thompson in a tan-brown color. The leather on hers is incredibly soft and wears very nicely.

I just got an Owen hobo as well. These are the first handbags from JC that I've bought and I have to say that I'm really impressed thus far.

  190. nojcrewinjapan,
the peony color is lovely, not at all neon. I'd say it's fairly close to the color plum if you have any items in that. I loved the color of the dress, but hated the fit - hope a peony blair finds a happy home with you :-)

  191. Thanks to all for the great reviews of the dark peony color! FS always makes me a little nervous. Looks like I'll be adding the dress to my cart today!

  194. A few things of note for my fellow JCA'S: went to Evergreen Walk store tonight (CT) and sale selection was VERY picked over...most items were either XL or XS. They barely even had any full price merchandise in the store either! Was quite surprised how empty looking it was. #2-All sale items were an addt'l 30% off, but final sale...nothing worth buying anyways (I think I have their whole winter line in my closet LOL) #3-I had no problem returning a sweater I bought online last week (supposed to be final sale but it doesn't say that anywhere on my packing slip) was very happy with that outcome! #4-FYI Banana Republic has an addt'l 30% off sale items, Ann Taylor Loft has an addt'l 30% off sale items, and Gap has an addt'l 25% off clearance GapBody items. Hope this info helps and everybody on the East Coast stays warm this weekend!
