Getting Your J.Crew Online Orders?

As we all {unfortunately} know, J.Crew's website still has been experiencing some technical difficulties. These issues have made shopping online a bit difficult (and frustrating) at times (refer here). But this post isn't just about the imperfect new website (although I am slightly annoyed that its still not working close to 100% after all this time).

Instead, this post is more about our ability to place online orders recently (like in the past month or so). Specifically, have you been able to place orders without issues? Moreover, have you been receiving your packages error free and in a timely manner (as oppose to having items "back ordered", "canceled", or missing in your package)?

It would be interesting to find out if the majority of us have been receiving our orders with no issues (which I am hoping is the case) or if the opposite is true (which may mean we might want to shop in their brick and mortar stores instead).

If you ordered from the website recently, have you received your items error-free? Have you gotten the email/ tracking confirmations in a timely manner (and if so, do they work)? And more importantly, if you did receive any items- what were they and how do you like them? ;)

  1. I've been waitlisted for an item, something I've been waiting for since November. It was canceled earlier this month, but it was available again for a short time & I reordered it. Unfortunately, I've never EVER received a waitlisted item before as they all went on to be canceled. Let's pray they'll get it right this time.

  2. I've sent three orders in this past month- two I received without any issues (and rather promptly), one seemed to have a shipping delay (read: it didn't get shipped) that I had to email them on and once I did, the emailed me a response back saying they'd be happy to check my UPS tracking for me (that I had checked myself numerous times, mind you) and gee, it was going to arrive in a day or two! Like I was dumb. And suddenly, it was updated that it had been mailed that very day- about a week after I had originally ordered the item.

Something didn't add up there, and I wasn't so happy with the email response I received on it- I think they made a mistake and didn't want to 'fess up. But who knows. I got my item and I'm happy with it and that's the only problem I've had. *shrugs*

  3. I received some defective items. Sweaters with holes and sweaters obviously worn. Of course, there were cancelled items. Overall fulfillment quality is better than the quality during thanksgiving, but still not as good as before, say last year this time.

  4. My box was half shipped, fully charged. I guess they're trying to make their money as dishonestly as possible. Also, all the retard order numbers that don't correspond with the online order #'s on your email confirmations...is it possible they're trying to discourage returns? Or are they trying to get the stores to take the hit in store vs chargebacks to the catalog division? Just a thought.

I think they couldn't afford to rehire the consultants that tried to fix the original problems, hence, the attitude is..."we'll just deal with it..." which I think is totally pathetic.

J.Crew, you guys need to really get things moving in the right direction...otherwise it will be 2 years before you know it and the same problems happening in June 2008 are still happening in June 2010.

  5. I haven't had any problems and have ordered at least 10 items in the last two months. They have all been shipped quickly and packaged well!

  6. my last few orders (in december and one last week) have been perfect. I totally appreciated that they expressed the orders placed right before the holidays at no extra cost! ♥!

  7. I have ordered lots in Nov., Dec., and Jan. and have had no issues. Easy ordering and all of my things arrived in perfect condition and on time.

  8. I've had minimal difficulties. I've had to re-order the skinny belt, crewcuts items and sweaters b/c they would be out of stock after buying it. I wasn't too upset about this because my sizes, 0 in clothing and 8.5 in shoes are very popular, so it comes with the territory. I'm also quite satisfied with the accuracy in which they've sent my orders. There was 1 ocassion where they didn't include my salina patent leather flats in my order. I called customer service and I had the shoes in 2 days. Also, they sent a gray merino rosette tank instead of the white tissue turtleneck I ordered, this sat well with me because at least they sent me the proper size. Overall, good job. I still have 2 orders on their way so, knock-on-wood for continued luck! :)

  9. I haven't had any problems with packages lately, except the ones that were delivered-but-actually-not-delivered. I don't think that's J.Crew's fault, so much as FedEx. :) Oh, and one time I ordered a pair of mittens but received a hat instead.

As for whether I liked the items once they actually arrived - it has been pretty hit or miss lately. I wish there weren't so many catalog-only items. :)

  10. I've had really good luck with my orders recently. Of about eight orders between late-November and now, only was was missing an item. I called CS and they shipped the replacement item (it was one top) out right away and was very nice and helpful on the phone. Most of my orders have shipped fairly quickly, although two of them have seemed to be a bit delayed and taken a little longer than usual.

On a side note, I purchased the ruffle collar trench today from my B&M and really love it. I posted a few photos on my blog for those that are curious. It fits really nicely and the fabric (including the pink fabric lining) are beautiful.

  11. 3 orders between Nov-early Jan: only 1 cancelled item, wrong tracking# on 1 order, charges were accurate, got a skinny belt express-shipped before xmas, nothing missing from shipment, no worn or damaged items.

Well, I received no order confirmation whatsoever, not once. It got me all jittery for days until they finally emailed me shipping notifications.

My experience wasn't bad but also not up to par with most other online stores. Who knew placing orders could be like gambling? You win some, you lose some.. That's the rule when you play at the Jcrew Casino!

    ReplyDelete
  12. *Knock on wood* My orders have all come in so far, everything being perfect. I did place two today and I only got confirmation of JCrew receiving one of them. The other I'm not hopeful but I'm okay with it because I really don't need it. It would be nice, but whateveh.

  13. In the last two months, I've had four orders ship with items missing (that I paid for). The CS reps are always really nice but there's nothing they can do; the items are sold out by the time the packages have arrived at my house. While frustrating and disappointing, I guess those items just "aren't meant to be". :)

I've also had canceled orders, but I kind of expect that when I'm ordering things that are very low inventory.

  14. I have placed and received a few orders the past few months without a problem. My main frustration is the lack of Spring items available online. I keep seeing tons of items I want in others' reviews, but they are only in B&M stores. I live overseas so that is not an option for me! Does anyone know when they will be updating?

  15. No problems with the latest orders, but boy was I disappointed to go into my coat closet and find my newest coats covered w/ mouse poo & pee. Off to the dry cleaner - yuck!!!

  16. Alexis,

"bit" of ordering online troubles...I don't think so...Tuesday was the worst day since the upgrade that I have experienced trying to shop online with JCrew. Wed. was not much better. And I check the website everyday. I am sooo disappointed in JCrew--if they went under at this point--or a year or two from now I would not be surprised. They cannot continue to treat customers so poorly and sporadically.

  17. most of the orders i've place recently have had cancelled items :( i was particularly disappointed about the leopard sequin cardi, which they supposedly had 17 more of in stock when i ordered.

they also hilariously cancelled an order of mine for a taffeta a-line skirt -- sent me an email about, called and left me a *voicemail* about it a couple days later, but when i checked the package that arrived: yay! the taffeta skirt was there. but a different skirt (the platinum tweed pencil, which i sadly wanted much more) which they said they had shipped was missing :/

  18. ooh, and also, don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but new arrivals are now on the site! time to put the annie cami (now called the "solid silk garland cami") into my cart :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. New arrivals are available online, along with a new homepage.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes, I just checked and new arrivals are online! I am so glad others have posted IRL pictures b/c some of the items look really different online. I know FFM has commented on the difference so thanks everyone and keep the IRL photos coming.

  21. So happy to see the new items! So refreshing! I'm already making my wishlist :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I've placed 5 orders during FS, the website is continuously down and the search function is awful! 2cancelled items, and it seems that when one item gets cancelled in an order the rest of the order gets delayed for DAYS. When I call CS to inquire about the dreaded "open" status, nobody seems to know ANYTHING about orders that have been released to the "black hole" of the warehouse! Really unacceptable.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I've been getting my orders, mostly error free. Some of the extremely low inventory items cancel, but hey, that's what you get when you wait so long to order.

Now I'm off to look at the new arrivals!!

  24. 13 orders since late November and only one pair of Crewcuts pants cancelled. I always feel so bad for everyone, as my experiences with J. Crew continue to go smoothly. I am putting good karma out there for all of you.

Just ordered three new items. cluster ring, jeweled palm leaf necklace and merino Meriam. Can't wait for them to arrive. Yeah!

  25. OMG. SO, I am in love. These are my must-haves:

    -the silk Melody dress
    -the viscose ruffle-sleeve tank
    -the ringspun cotton rosette tee
    -the slub cotton crossover tee
    -the slub cotton puff-sleeve tee
    -the tissue ruffle cardigan
    -the tissue rolling ruffles tank
    -the ruffle bandeau bikini top

I actually had the opportunity to try some of these things on but I didn't even see the ruffley cardigan in my B&M. Anyways, sooo much cute stuff. I just love the silk sleeves on the puff sleeve tee, as well as the silk trim on the crossover vee. Sooo pretty!

  26. Whoo-hoo! New arrivals on the site FINALLY! Loving it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. So, I don't see the Annie cami online, but I tried that on and love that too.

Anyone know if that is a B&M only item?

    ReplyDelete
  28. No problems yet--even on items that only had 1 or 2 left in stock.

Hoping it stays that way! :)

  29. Of the ** orders I've placed since Christmas, I've had at least two items (that I can recall) that were canceled - the Henna Tee in Navy and the Cashmere Scarf in Hazelnut, both of which I've since re-ordered and are on their way (YAY!)

Other than that, EVERY order(!)- with the exception of one yesterday - has arrived completely intact, no missing or incorrect items.

There was also an issue with an order I'd placed for the Crackle Metallic Mary Jane Heels that had a tracking number of "n/a" - which I emailed my PS about. Her response was that she was checking with her supervisor to get an actual number. I never did hear back about that...but...I just received my order yesterday via UPS, so I really have no complaints, other than the time the package was in limbo and I wasn't sure if I should try and re-order to make sure I got them.

New Arrivals - finally! Has anyone else noticed the omission of the cherry blossom(?) tee online? (The brown one with the little white flowers) I can't seem to find it and that's the ONE item I really wanted to order! TIA!

  30. 2 items cancelled from 2 different orders.

Very disappointed as one item said there was plenty--33 left when I ordered. I did try and reorder something to take the place of one cancelled item and the CS rep kindly waived shipping or so I thought. Even though I asked her about the free shipping on the one item I ordered instead (only item on the new order) She still charge me $14.50 shipping! What a pain. I live overseas and had to call back and get it removed. I swear...you just never know with JCrew.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I looked online at the new items. I don't see anything I have to have. The colors are so blah! I am so sick of light pewter too. OMG. Enough already with that shade!

My wish list is usually 10 items or more long. My current wish list 1 (and that is a maybe)

I refuse to pay $50 for a thin tee. Crazy. Who cares if it has embellishment on it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. All orders I placed before and after Christmas were trouble free and arrived quickly...the orders were placed with my PS.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Order has cancelled items--3 even with my PS placing them. I don't find having a PS all that great. I actually do better when I shop online by myself! Glad I tried her for about 4 months but won't use her again...I just prefer to shop solo! (even online;)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Jeff - there is a straw Trilby in the men's new arrivals. Not one of their best hats, but it's cute.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I've gotten all my items in a timely manner and usually they are exactly what I ordered. I also get my orders two days after I place the order but that's only because of proximity to the shipping center in Lynchburg, Va. I live in NC right past the border so there have been no problems. The only problem experienced was in the summer when J Crew was crossing over their website and I was told my order wasn't placed--it definitely did place and I got a duplicate order. Customer service did help, however, with returns and taking the extra charge off my card.

  37. I have placed over a dozen orders in the last 3 months. Some of them with over a dozen items. I have had only one item cancelled - a double-serge pencil skirt. All orders arrived, although some were delayed due to re-routing. Everything was brand new and in perfect condition.

I have three orders still on the way so I hope the trend continues for me. No complaints really.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Luckily I have no complaints. I've ordered both with my PS and directly with the website, all have been good so far.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I don't see the Milla tank in the new arrivals or in the online Lookbook. That is the item I am most waiting for.

I am not buying that rosette tee everyone is so ga-ga over. It looks incredibly thin and all the flowers around the midsection are terribly unflattering on the model and IRL photos I have seen (sorry Slastena). I have a large bust and narrow waist. If I put that shirt on and expand my waist I'll look like a tree trunk. Plus, the colors are blah. I'm sure there are some ebay resellers reading this blog that will buy a bunch and try to make a profit.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Slastena looked great in the rosette tee.

I personally don't find the rosettes unflattering. I tried it on in the store and the material was thin, but not crepe paper thin like some of the other tees I've seen. I think it would be fine to hand wash.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have ordered 3 weeks ago with no problem, I also ordered this am and I had no problems whatsoever.

I also have been impressed how fast they are processing the orders even the Canadian ones.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I wouldn't buy the rosette tee mainly b/c of the color--very blah. I liked the one large rose tee that sold like hot cakes. This one does nothing for me. Very plain and I agree not the most flattering with these rose blobs randomly placed. Definite pass.

Several people have also mentioned the "Annie" cami (now with a new name) that the petals are fraying and looks like it would not wear/wash well. I really wanted to like it but with that said...well it's a pass too.

    ReplyDelete
  43. The holiday orders arrived so fast, it was a real bonus. I'm in Canada and they are back to the really slow delivery. Sometimes a package will take a tour and spend an extra week traveling around. It's annoying but J.Crew even has a note on their website that delays are common shipping to Canada so I just live with it.

Nothing canceled in my ~10 orders and only 3 items to return, 1 because I need to size down. I got some really wonderful stuff for great prices. The website problems were annoying but I was still able to place two orders on Tuesday. Overall I am pleased with J.Crew

    ReplyDelete
  44. I placed an order for 8 or 9 items & almost all of them were the last ones in stock. I got my entire order. Nothing was damaged. I placed another order earlier this week for 2 items that were the last ones in stock & that's shipped. So, no complaints there.

But I do have complaints about the website. Don't even get me started.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I am not loving the new arrivals. Maybe there will be more tomorrow? It's rather blah and I also won't be purchasing the chiffon flower T. I honestly have so many gorgeous, flattering tees that I don't need to buy one that is just meh only because it is the "it" item of this release. I prefer to follow my own unique style and not the herd.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Everytime I place something new in my basket, it seems to wipe out what was placed previously. I'm not sure if things are disappearing because of a glitch or if my items are in high demand. Whatever, I've given up.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ileila - Slastena is beautiful and looks gorgeous in everything.

I did not intend to say Slastena looked unflattering, only that the tee was not flattering. IMO it does not look good on her or the models in the lookbook and online. But, because it is J.Crew and everyone wants this style, a lot of people will buy it and love it and good for them. It's not always about looking your best now, is it? Or is it?

  48. I placed 2 orders last week. first one arived with the wrong color and size belt. called CS, they agreed to ship me the correct one with the additional 30% off and no shipping. I just returned the wrong one to a store.
2nd order arrived just fine, no glithces. i was scared too, b/c I got a Starburst pendant that suddenyl reappearred and ageranium Katie sweater jacket.

  50. I ordered a bathing suit that had only 2 left in stock, it shipped today. No word on my long Sophia dress or white cords yet, I ordered them yesterday.

Still waiting on two pairs of pants from November- final sale waitlisted. I have written them off.

  51. Oh yeah- I had a v neck sweater in the color stone cancel just last week. I received everything else in the package though, most were final sale items.

  54. Just curious about orders placed this week for the 30% off - how long is it taking for them to ship (or be ready to ship). Usually the status changes by the end of the day, but it has been over 24 hrs since my two orders and both are stuck in released. I am dying to see if my Watson pants were cancelled.

  55. I placed an order in December (not final sale) and had two items waitlisted. I used my rewards card. One arrived about a week later than the non waitlisted items. The other was due for delivery in April 2009, so I wasn't holding out hopes.

I got an email from JC this week saying "We got your cancellation request, thanks". Since I did not make a cancellation request, I called to see what was going on. The CS rep admitted that their communications were misleading (duh) and they had cancelled the item. When I asked about getting my money back since they had applied my rewards card to the item, she tried to stonewall me and say that I hadn't paid for it yet. I had to go to a manager to get a proper refund. Ugh, why are they so retarded?

  56. I have placed three orders since Thanksgiving. I received the first two orders promptly with no issues. I just placed the third order yesterday, so we'll see what happens. It hasn't been canceled yet!

  58. I placed an order last Wednesday with one piece to be overnighted {should have arrived Friday} and the other three pieces arriving via standard shipping. Well, the overnight piece didn't show up until Monday and I'm still waiting on the rest. I called Friday and was told they had NO IDEA what happened and why it didn't ship, but that they would refund my $25 shipping charge. I haven't seen the refund yet, so I'll be calling tomorrow if it isn't back on my card. I am hoping that the other stuff gets here today, but if it's not here by the weekend, I'll call and check. I hope they get it together soon.

  59. Ratsonparade- they have the brown rosette cami (with white flowers) at the Oakbrook, IL store. I was there last night and they had a whole stack of them. I was dying to get it, but wasn't ready to spend $40+ on a tee. Especially since I saw it on my way out the door, with bags in hand.

For those looking for the "starfish" bikini, they also had a handful of those. I didn't check sizes, but they were on a table near the register. The last I checked, I think this suit had sold out online. I'm not in swimsuit fighting shape right now, so I tried to avoid making contact with them at all costs! :)

  60. My orders are coming just fine. The tricky thing is guessing colors from the online pictures. I got the Harlow in guava. quite bright, compared to the pictures or the samples they used on the model. Same for the Silk Vionette tank dress. . . much brighter than online or catalog versions.

On the other hand, trouser cords are great. Cheap. Merino sweaters are all very sweet, too.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sorry, Ratsonparade. I mean to say the cherry blossom tee (not the rosette cami!). It's the brown tee with white flowers. So pretty!

  62. Yes, I have received all my orders except one, which should be delivered today. All items are in 'new' condition; no used merchandise as others have experienced lately.

Surprisingly the one item I really wanted, and there was only a qty of one - the grey dream open cardigan, arrived and in perfect condition.

  63. So far I have been receiving all of my items problem free (knock on wood). I ordered one item before Christmas and three in the last month. I'm waiting on the final item to come in because it just shipped out yesterday. I hope it is right!

  64. I've been shopping the sale section for the past two weeks using the %off and free shipping codes. I had not purchased anything since September (I was on a self-imposed purchasing ban after going crazy over the summer). This worked to my advantage as I have been able to update my winter wardrobe staples and statement pieces at a fraction of the original price. I am embarrassed to put in writing the number of orders I've placed, but let's just say that ALL of my orders so far have been shipped quickly with no missing items (or icky return items). In my defense ;) I have a substantial number of orders because I have been waiting for significant reductions - and when my size and color pops up during the updates, I don't wait to fill a cart - I run to checkout. I may have only 2items but if you divide the shipping and add it to the bottom line cost of the item I still have snagged a GREAT deal. Although I had access issues to the website, I applaud JCrew on their shipping this time around. Fingers crossed for the next round of orders . . .

  66. I had orders placed 1/15, 1/26, and 1/28. I received the order placed 1/15 no problem (honey glaze Alessia Pumps) though I did request that they denote an ability to return (it was a Final Sale item) if they didn't fit. The note was not on the invoice - still said Final Sale, but I didn't have to return, thankfully, since they fit.

Orders that I placed 1/26 and 1/28 are also Extra30 items and inventory was low, so I thought they wouldn't ship, but I got order updates and tracking numbers for both orders. I hope everything works out okay. So far, all the orders I have placed in December and January have come through with no issues :).

ETA: I did place the 1/26 and 1/28 orders through the customer service number for the JCrew card. I don't know if that made a difference, but when I went back to the site, it looks like I may have nabbed the last petite 10 velvet ecole and the last medium Nola in putty. I keep that card number on my phone now :)!

  67. Anon at 11:08 -- did the Oakbrook store have much in the final sale area? I am planning to go there on Saturday. The Orland Square store is pretty much picked over. Orland had lots of beautiful new merchandise, though. :)

  68. I've had no problems and shipping has been fast. I placed an order on Tuesday and it arrived today. I've never had any real problems with J. Crew. I've only had one canceled order the whole time I've been a J. Crew customer, which has been many years. I'm very happy with J. Crew.

  69. I got an order 2 days ago that was missing 2 items, & got to spend half an hour on the phone w a CS rep trying to sort it out. I was charged for the full amount, but the invoice in the box said I was charged for less. I looked at my online bank statement & I WAS charged for all the items, not the reduced amount that I received.
If I hadn't caught this & made this fix it on the phone I'd be paying for things I didn't get (they kept playing "oh gee, this has never happened before").

Not to mention that nearly every order has something canceled & ships several days after they email saying it has shipped. Kind of annoying that they lie about when they ship!

  70. Items in my orders keep getting canceled, then showing back up on the website! Then I have to order again, & pay shipping again & sometimes miss out on the price I got w a coupon. Grrrr.

  72. Anon at 11:37,

Oakbrook is so hit or miss. I have a feeling that most of my great FS items from there are the result of returns. I saw alot of the same stuff that has been lingering in their final sale the past couple months. They have definitely knocked down their reductions though and are offering addt'l 50% off. Lots of gloves, cords, rosette cami's, metallic green skinny belts, clara chiffons, velvet ecoles, bright skirts in sizes 10+, and metallic houndstooth phoebe jackets. They had about 5 pairs of brown long boots, which shocked me. A couple were suede, the others leather. All on sale, with additional 50% off. Was there something in particular you were looking for? If you say the name, I might remember if I saw it there! HTH.

  73. I have a Silver JC card and received my Winter Rewards card. With the Winter Rewards incorparating a season change, holidays, party season and gift giving time one would assume this reward had the potential to be huge! However with cancelled orders, missing items without explanation, defective merchandise with rips and holes, nonsensical price matching procedures that differ from CSR to CSR and perhaps the must frustrating of all, a website that shows in stock merchandise yet blocks us from buying the shredded stuff!(Sorry, Alexis usually I keep it classy but I am all fired up today.)
I love the new Spring line, I think it is pretty and feminine. I think everyone who has done a review has been spot on and I would like to thank them for posting their pictures. However this company is going through a real identity crisis right now, I think. The quality is no longer commanding the prices-period. The design is no longer inovative enough season to season-period. Do you know why we all love it so much? Because it looks like our closets look now, it is familiar to all of us. I personally feel the company has been slacking and until things change, I won't spend the money on lackluster design. I will purchase a few pieces because I think some are beautiful but I will be pulling out my pieces from seasons past that really knocked my socks off.

  74. congrats to those who have been receiving their orders with no problems! i have had many horrible experiences with not getting items, receiving wrong items (happened just this past week), and getting used/dirty items. i.e - I ordered a pair of capri sandals in a 9 in brown and got a size 7 gold USED! they had been worn!!! and whoever packed the box threw them in an old shoe box that was SCOTCH TAPED together (it didnt even have those stickers on it - the order one or the final sale one)! wtf?!

For her, that was it. No more ordering from J.Crew- she isn't as patient as we are!

  76. I've been doing more FS shopping than I meant to after Christmas (I'm trying to find a formal dress to officiate at a wedding), all of it via website. Unfortunately, I haven't been one of the lucky ones. I've had several cancellations, which d-r-a-g -s out how long it takes JC to send the rest of the order. Luckily, I've been able to return things that haven't been marked FS. The time I called to have a note placed on an order specifically so I could return a pair of boots for fit, the note wasn't there when I took them to my B&M. A nice SA let me return them anyway.
I've also had two items that seem pre-worn, one was a pair of Alessia heels that's badly scuffed on one shoe. I had a good experience calling about that this morning, Julie at the 800 number was very helpful and noted that I can return them. She also price adjusted an order I placed yesterday. I read so many raves about the Maggie and ordered it, and of course it went down ten bucks this morning (seven after discount.) She very nicely put the money back on the card, and also helped get me the right price on a replacement item that I ordered to make up for a cancelled item. My only beef with any of that is that money goes back onto a giftcard instead of a credit card if you use both on an order. Kind of shady, but I'd read about that happening here so I haven't thrown any GCs away.
In all, I feel like the online ordering has gone down in quality, but not too far down. It's become standard to be disappointed in the shopping part of the online experience due to "Stay Tuned" and jsp error (whatever that means!) and items jumping out of or back into the cart randomly. Then it's a crapshoot to see if there will be cancellations. Then, the waiting game... will you get a valid tracking number? When will it even ship? Then, of course, will you get the right items in the right sizes? And the grand finale, even if items are "right" as far as size and color, were they pre-worn?

So, those are just the problems on the "before" side of the issue. Once the clothes are on, it's another story. I've had to return several things in the past couple months since they weren't up to snuff. A tissue rosette cami that wasn't stitched well on the back, merino cardis that seams were held together with a hope and a prayer, etc. I also had to return some things because of inconsistent fit, like the supposed lowish rise high heel flares that reached my underwire! That said, I've had a fair share of fantastic purchases. I LOVE my black Lille, and my merino turtlenecks, and a few others. On the whole, I am still devoted to JC but I'm no longer dewey eyed about quality and general service. Today's good CS experience was the rarity, and that should change as surely as the website issues should be ironed out.

  77. I find that orders are pretty much hit or miss depending on availability of sale items. One order I placed a week ago is still in "released" state and I have had 4 emails stating that 4 items have been cancelled. I fear that with time all items will be cancelled b/c they have waited so long.

I have also had two different orders come to me with wrong items. One of the bag was incorrectly labelled so I could see how the mistake was made.

But this morning, I called to order two crewcuts items from their spring line and I was told they are already sold out. And they only appeared online today!!

  78. Anon at 12:27 re Oakbrook: Thank you SO much for all of the info. I'm looking for a size XS golden avocado perfect fit flower tank. I keep stalking the website and can't seem to get it. Also looking for the velvet ecole in gray, size 2. Did you notice if they had the brand new catalogs out yet?

    ReplyDelete
  79. I've had (checks order history)
six orders since the beginning of November and everything has shipped/arrived/tracked just fine.

Actually, looking at my order history, mostly sale items- I've been able to pick off quite a few good things for decent prices since the fall. I can't complain, but I sure do when the site is down.

  80. Anon 1:16, no problem! They had quite a few flower cami's left, but I don't recall seeing anything in golden avocado. I wear anywhere between a 2-4 in tops/cami's and had trouble finding much of anything that I was interested in. I found most of it to be larger sizes. The ecole's were mostly black and navy, I don't recall a gray.

They did have catalogs out, but not many. There was a stack of men's catalogs ("The Men's Shop"), but only 2 spring catalogs left in the bin on the counter. I picked one of them up last night. But that's not to say they don't have more stashed under the counter!

  81. To answer the original question, yes, I am getting my orders! Few more items came in flawless today. Placed the order around 7 pm last Friday and received it today with standard shipping. It is fast enough.

  82. I placed two orders on Sunday afternoon and received them both today, error free!

I got the high heel glenbrae suede boots in root, and they are to die for but if anyone is still considering these, you might want to consider the "extended calf" if you have anything more than little bumps for calves. I have toothpick-esque legs and can easily put them over skinny jeans... but there is not much extra room. So be careful. These boots are amazing, and the heel is the perfect height that I can actually walk in comfortably.

I also got the striped cashmere socks, which are soft and wonderful and will be a great gift for my mom.

The third item I got was the Tall dark trouser jeans in clean rinse wash, item 13474. I was worried about the flare being ridiculous but it isn't. They are just a nice trouser jean that is slightly more fitted in the thighs then other trousers, but still very flattering. Granted, I don't wear them as skintight as the model... They look awesome with heels. At $27.99, these are totally worth it. I'll have to hem them because the talls are excessively long but still totally worth it at this price!

Also, the boots which I ordered are marked final sale, but the other two items which I ordered in a separate order, are not. They are really screwing themselves over with that one but it's great for customers! Fortunately, I will not be returning anything for once.

  83. i've made around 10 order in the past year and never had a problem. My waitlisted item arrived quicker than expected!

    ReplyDelete
  84. hi em, i've been eyeing on the glenbrae since everybody raves about it here. how much are they going for (online and in-store)? i knew it was 99.99 in store for a while and don't really feel like paying 300 online now.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I ordered a chambray oxford 2-button jacket and they sent me the pants instead!
Although it was a final sale item, the store let me get a refund since clearly the correct item number was assigned to the wrong item. (the pants actually had the item number of the 2-button jacket on the tag)

Guess they don't read the description when they pack the items, otherwise they would have averted this obvious mistake.

  86. Just received my order today that I placed online on 1/24. I received my shipping confirmation number on 1/26. My items were the italian graphic tweed university pant and the Metallic houndstooth Marie jacket. They both fit perfectly and I am very happy with them!

  87. Anon @ 3:35, I bought the Glenbrae leather boots at my local B&M on FS last night. They were marked $249 on sale ($325 original) and an additional 50% off. I added my student discount and got them for $104.

They had a few pair left in both leather and suede. Some heeled, some flat. The flat leather Glenbrae's were a size 7.5 and 9.5 if I remember correctly. This was at the Oakbrook, IL store. I'm wearing mine today already and love 'em! HTH!

  88. I ordered from J.Crew five times without shipping problems. All my products arrived on time with one item cancelled (popular item). I've ordered several items that had 1-10 left in stock. Then again, I nevered HoHoHo-ed or Turkey-ed. Since I had good luck, I want to spread it to you guys. From what I heard, J.Crew better step it up!

  89. Anon @508, thanks. i plan to try my luck in store via the red phone. hopefully they would match the in store price.

  90. I think I'm in the minority, but I've never actually had a problem with canceled orders, incorrect shipments, damaged goods, etc. And recently I've never had a problem emailing in and getting my student discount applied. In fact, I ordered a sweater from the final sale on Tuesday afternoon and J Crew overnighted it to me, though I had paid for 3 day shipping! Yay!

  91. Let's see:

I received an order today that was supposed to have the ivory palermo sandals and instead they sent the rimini vachetta sandals. Yet another phone call to make.

Cancelled items repeatedly, missing items repeatedly, wrong items repeatedly.

The biggest kicker was on 12/30 I ordered something to wear on New Year's eve and had it shipped overnight along with 8 other sale items that I liked. Of course, what I wanted to wear on New Year's Eve was cancelled. The real problem started when one item arrived in a paper mailer on 12/31, with the shipping label saying that the package weighed 20 lbs (one sweater.) Nothing else showed up. I called, and they said wait for it, that they could do a trace on it after I waited a few days (no one had a tracking #.) I called the next day, and they said wait for it, and the next day and the next day. I knew that this box was sitting there at the warehouse because one item had been cancelled. But by Saturday the CS said there was nothing they could do (the other CS's mislead me into thinking that a trace could be done but they passed the buck onto the next CS), and that CS would just have to refund me.

They were nice enough to find some of the items that had not shown up, and sent me a handbag that had been used.

I have started driving to B&M's that are an hour and over an hour away so I don't have to worry about screwups, but I don't get the good deals that I get online like the 30% off of everything that is now on sale. The Travel Trench is still full price at the B&M and sold out online.

I am not sure why I continue this love/hate relationship with JC.

  92. A few weeks back I ordered the High Heeled Flair jeans, but received someone from Georgia's Chinos.

Everything worked out in the end, however.

  93. Well, I'm ecstatic! I placed an order and it all shipped!!! This is what I got:

-dream tie cardigan in heather silver (have it in ivory and LOVE!)

-merino rose cardigan in black (so pretty!)

-shirred short sleeve tee in bright pink

    -merino turtleneck in golden avocado

    -portland cardigan in ivory

    -patent skinny belt in almond

  94. When I bought my suede glenbrae's online, they were $109.99 plus 30% off, I think. I got them for $79 ish. The leather ones are for some reason full price now...

    ReplyDelete
  95. em, how do you protect your suede from dust and dirt? do you spray something on it before wearing it?

    ReplyDelete
  96. I had some cancellation but I was able to pick up those items afterwards anyway. I already mentioned that I received a pair of pants instead of a pair of shoes. I was very upset but in the end everything worked out. I bought a similar pair yesterday morning that appeared only in my size and surprisingly my order was shipped and arrived today. I was lucky several times during the 20%-30% off sale and picked up rare items available only in my size (they were probably returns)from the website. I am happy to say I bought everything I wanted from J.Crew fall/winter collection and I no longer need to wake up at 5am and wait for the restocking. Now I can go back to sleeping till 8am :)

  97. anon @ 6:19:

Yes, I spray all of my suede boots with this super heavy duty stuff called Camp Dry. It's made by Kiwi and I got it in the shoe section at Target, and it comes in a spray can. I have used it on light colored suede and it did not discolor. It makes whatever you spray it on waterproof and makes it easier to brush off dirt and stuff. I would highly recommend it.

  98. I had a stroke of good luck with my order this week. I ordered on Monday and recieved my order today, all complete and in the right size!

  99. Anon @ 6:19:
I use the same stuff as Em and it works great. I also bought a suede brush and that helps too (especially after you've sprayed on the protective coat). HTH!

  101. I ordered some bathing suits at the beginning of January (it was actually the first order I've made since last April due frustrations over the website "upgrade" last summer) and received everything promptly and without problems.

  102. Let's see....ordered fireball bracelet, charged for fireball bracelet, no fireball bracelet in box! ordered tanks 3 for $20, rec'd 2 of the tanks + one cashmere (spring color, no less!) cardigan w/a tank sticker on it!
ordered crewcuts flats, rec'd one 12 & one 11 in box (and of course, they are now sold out - my niece is devastated that i won't let her keep 2 diff. sized shoes!) those are just a few off the top of my head.
considering sheer volume of orders (by me) lately, not too bad, really! not to mention all the FS items that aren't marked FS & i get to return - gotta love that!

  103. Hi,

Not posted for a while because honestly, J. Crew to me has hit a rather boring stretch the past month or so (so glad to finally see some new items). I was going to place an order for new spring items and came to see whats been going on and just amazed that the site is still having issues. Its so insane that half a year later people are still dealing with the same old issues. I have only ordered a couple of times over the holidays and no problems. However, when I tried to add items to cart today and or view different colors, no dice. I now cannot even search as they are reporting there is a problem with site and to come back later. Amazing.

Anyway, I had to call order in and I was reminded why I hate to place phone orders. Every stinking item I had sit and listen to this ramble about how it was made or its so special or the beautiful colors blah, blah, blah. I don't mind the occasional "oh thats cute" but this was over the top. I was then bombarded mid order by sales pitch after sales pitch for jewelry of the month club, credit card, other items, etc. Anyone else run into this more so than ever before? I never had so much extra chatter ever and it made me uncomfortable and extended my shopping experience by about 5 minutes!!! Please, please, please fix the site so I don't have to sit and come up with witty responses to this chatter on the phone anymore!

P.S. Anybody else think the new shoes look like Laura Ashley circa 1988? Maybe its these new colors throwing me off! Some of the new dresses are really cute though. Once more at least its something new!

  104. ordered by phone on monday, got my package error-free friday, although i had problems logging into my account all week.

i ordered a perfect fit tee and the chiffon ruffle cardigan in cerise, which looked like a bright red on the web site. when i got it, cerise turned out to be BRIGHT orange! i'm not a fan of orange at all but it's final sale and i can't return; i really wish we have some kind of chart that translates jcrew colors into what they are IRL. i definitely would have picked different colors had i known.
