Email Reminder: Extra 20% Off Sale Ends Today! :)

J.Crew sent an email on Friday reminding us that J.Crew is offering an additional 20% off their final sale with promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires today, 1/18/09.

Have you been taking advantage of this offer already? Are you planning to take advantage of this offer today? If you already have, what did you get?

Side Note (and off-topic): And for some entertainment on this lazy Sunday, there is a great video worth watching (which will make you dance in your seat.... I did!): TMobile advert Liverpool Street Station.

  1. I have used the extra 20% off in the last few days, but only on inexpensive items. I've gotten several pairs of shorts for this summer ($7.99), a t-shirt ($7.99)and the merino rose cardigan ($15.99). All of which are things that I am sure will fit and I need for the coming seasons. Since final sale has been going on for a while, restocking is becoming less abundant. I'll keep looking after the 20% off ends, but only the DEEPLY discounted stuff and only a few specific things.

  2. I used the code to purchase a few coats: Shipley, Boucle Scarf and Lucinda, another Boucle Astrid, jeans and University pants, another double-serge skirt, Francie skirt, and a couple of sweaters for my husband.

I placed the order early Friday morning and it was still in submitted status on Saturday so I called CS. They said they were trying to locate all the items for me. The order went to released status Saturday afternoon. Hopefully everything ships but if not, no big deal.

On Saturday a number of sold out mens items became available again so I ordered a few more things for my husband and the order went from submitted to released status within a few hours so hopefully that means those items ship as well. He will be very happy. I didn't tell him about the orders in case things don't ship so hopefully will have a surprise for him soon.

This was a really good code for me because the discount was many times more than the small shipping charge for so many items on top of the heavily discounted prices. I didn't want to hold out for a big blowout code because I think the chances of getting the most-wanted items is getting slimmer by the day.

Sorry for the long post. Have a wonderful day.

  3. Question re sizing on Maisie Calf Hair Driving Mocs: I wear a 10 in nearly every shoe I own so I am not in between sizes. J Crew recommended that half sizes size up and that the shoe would fit tightly to begin with. Not only are these not tight but they are almost to loose to stay on and would need an insert to fit comfortably. Has anyone ever taken a whole size down in these shoes or other J Crew Mocs? I love these shoes but if they're going to stretch out even more, I'm afraid that I won't get much use out of them.

  4. I placed two separate orders, my first order included the Carrie in acorn, tissue turtleneck in white (steal at $7.99), satin clutch in clay, dream tie-neck cardigan in poppy, and the ivory satin clutch (which, regrettably, was cancelled).

I wasn't going to place a second order until I spotted the large odile bag back on the site in driftwood ($120). The bag seemed lonely all by itself in my shopping cart so I added a pair of the Alessia flats and the merino melanie cardigan in dark peony.

I just hope everything arrives safe and sound!

  5. The JCrew site is down for me:(

  6. I got tissue turtlenecks in spearmint, black and white as well as 2 Tall flannel lined chinos in stone and khaki, Maggie in Black, bunch of favorite fit tanks for like $3.49 each, perfect fit tanks, short sleeve tee in spearmint (love that color), chiffon rose cardigan in black, tartine in heather mushroom and a few other things I cannot remember! I ended up getting free shipping, 20% off and educator's discount.

  7. I placed a few orders for items I had been stalking for weeks. I finally snagged the kelly green Soiree sweater, three of the candy tees, the crystal bird's eye cardi in the black color, and the crown jewel, a chiffon rose tee for $15.99!!! It was definitely my week for J Crew luck!

  8. Five tomatoes,

Glad it is not just me then that the site is down for....I give up for today!

    ReplyDelete
  9. anon 10:35am: on Lizzy mocks I had to go half size down

  10. Site is working for me.

There is only one item left from my fall & winter wish list and it has not come available again so if not today then maybe tomorrow without the code, or perhaps a new code? Wishful thinking maybe. I wonder if J.Crew will take a bunch of inventory to the sample sale and then have a 30% discount to clear out all the leftovers.

  11. Anon 10:35 - I don't have the calf-hair mocs, but I have some from past seasons and I agree, they are not tight at all and I could have sized down. They are really comfortable though, I wear them as slippers in the house because they do look kind of floppy and don't have enough support to wear if I have to walk anywhere.

I am going to wait until they get really loose before I add an insert.

  12. Placed 2 orders on inexpensive items - Merino rose cardi, city luxe cords, merino t-necks.

Got my eye on a couple of things if they get reduced.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Can anyone tell me if the men's denim sizes are exact? Will a 29 have a 29 inch waist exactly? It's not like women's denim, right?

    ReplyDelete
  14. I placed an order yesterday for the dark trouser jeans and the luxe knit gathered tee...I just hope that both items show up...and FIT. I've been having problems judging sizes with Jcrew recently, everything seems to fit different! And since the closest b&m store is at least 3 hours away, ordering online is the way to go for me!

  15. I keep checking every morning to see if an xs chiffon cardi pops up again. Right now all they have is papaya and I just just don't care for it. I have acorn and so am looking for either putty or navy. Should I give up or is there a chance it could still pop up later? There are smalls in navy but I scared to size up as it is pretty TTS.

  16. I pulled the plug on a Maggie jacket early (like 4:30am early) this morning because it finally came available in the heather gray color I wanted. I chose 3-day shipping, so I hope it isn't canceled!! I'm still loooking for a black Maggie in size 2 or 4 though!
Otherwise, everything else on sale isn't in the size/color combo I want, or they're sold out (ie. cashmere Academy sweater...I covet you!).

    ReplyDelete
  17. Just got the Maggie in Deep Yellow and the Sand Floral Kya Cami...very excited!

Has anyone else tried on the Aubrey jacket? I think its really cute and has a Jackie O vibe to it. The manager at my store told me to hold out on it b/c its already been reduced twice in the past month and she thinks it will go on sale further within a couple weeks. I am wondering if I could pull this off for work in the spring time? Perhaps with a pencil skirt or the bistro pants?

    ReplyDelete
  18. is it just me or did J.crew not update their sale inventory yet today?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have the pink Maggie and Nicky dot skirt coming.
There is very, very little left on the site that I am interested in. Only the cowgirl jeans and the lulu heels (if they ever come up in my size) So, I doubt I will be doing anymore sale shopping.
I hope that this next roll out is a big one. The site is looking rather sad.

    ReplyDelete
  20. They updated the sale page about 9AM this morning.

Congrats to whoever got the rose tee. All I've seen pop up the last few months is the sea salt color, which is the "sieze the day" print and not the rose.

  21. Hey all,

I was thinking about pairing the deep yellow maggie with a white shirt and a black pencil skirt...do you think that I could make that work? Or would I look like a bumblebee?

I know I can pair the jacket with khaki, white, and gray...but I am trying to think of other color combos that would work.

    ReplyDelete
  22. jane - I'm also considering Aubrey. I think it will look great with a fitted skirt/dress OR with jeans. I'm keeping an eye on it for another price drop too...

My only hesitation is that it could potentially be a little shapeless...

  24. Thanks Alexis for that great YouTube video of the Liverpool Station ad. I love Flash Mobs! :)

So....the 20% off promo....I did use it. And the more I think about it, the more angry I get. I repurchased all the t-shirts from this season that I already had: Seize il Giorno tee, carte de la France tee, the Decadent Mints tee in Dark Slate and the Seize the Day tee. I felt like I had to - I love the designs and would like to be able to wear the tees more than once, but I'm afraid to wash them (for fear of what might happen to the silky chiffon tape or all those beads! Argh!) So until I can get myself a Rubbermaid wash basin and some Woolite to wash them by hand, the tees I have (and have worn) have been sitting in a pile. So silly that the quality is so questionable that I'm afraid to wear them (or wash them!) I've heard horror stories already of the Candy Tees getting holes in them after only one wash. I'm just certain I will ruin them.

The only redeeming factor in rebuying all those tees is they were less than $20 bucks apiece with the promo.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I take them to the dry cleaners rather than try to wash them myself?

    ReplyDelete
  25. paperbagprincess~when I tried on the Aubrey in a 2 it wasn't shapeless but certaily not the fitted blazer look that would be more versatile. Only downside of the silouette of the aubrey is that I feel like you HAVE to wear slim shapes on the bottom (i.e. pencil skirt and slim pants) making it less versatile. I love that papaya color though and I think once they knock down the price further it would be worth buying.

Ratsonparade~stick with the handwash and woolite. The fabric of those tees is so delicate I think its too risky to throw them in the wash.

  26. I was finally able to snag the abstract rose print dress in a size 4 this morning when the updates occurred!! No as long as it ships I will be a satisfied little sunflower!!
    Only $48!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Rats on Parade - I have hand washed my candy and snowflake tees without problem. I used Ivory baby soft laundry soap. I ran out of Woolite, which is what I normally use and the Ivory is a good alternative so whichever works for you.

I used the "hand wash" setting on my washing machine, which is really gentle, more so than doing it by hand myself. I also need the spin cycle it provides or I risk pulling the tees out of the water and tearing the delicate stitching due to the heavy weight of the wet garment. The spin also avoids wringing the tees out by hand, which can stretch them. The "hand wash" setting is really more delicate than doing it myself but if your washer doesn't have a reliable "hand wash" setting, best to do it yourself. I wouldn't trust a dry cleaner in case stitches came undone during the process. At least you will keep an eye on your own items.

Seems like a lot of pain for these tees, but I only have two so it's not a big deal for me. And I will likely put the snowflake away until next fall now anyway.

  28. CSR told me on Friday that in the next 2 weeks stores will be sending all their goods back to warehouse and online will have a slew of new (old) items again. In other words-they ran out of a sz I needed but that i would probably see it again in the next 2 weeks. Not that surprising but worth mentioning:)

  29. I used the extra 20% twice. Once on a cherie cami in ivory and a scoop neck tee in bright yellow. Then I used it again on a tee for my niece. I'm hoping that nothing else gets canceled (already lost the scoop neck in jasmine).

    ReplyDelete
  30. JaneEsq, I think you could wear the yellow maggie with shades of blue as well, especially navy. You might try a deep dark green or an olive green. JMO

  31. I used the extra 20% off a few times this week, as items in my size kept popping back up on the website.... city luxe trouser cords, favotite fit cords, ecole velvet jacket, lea cardigans, bria cami. Now I am holding out for the sample sale!

  33. Rats on Parade: I have 2 candy tees and I have been machine washing them in a mesh zip bag inside out in the machine, cold water for 2 months, absolutely no problem. However the crest metallic tee has to be handwashed because the silver comes off.

I did not use the code at all so far I am keeping my promise to cut down on buying JC.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous, I was hoping that would be the case - I thought maybe it would be the case that some more things turned up online before the hard core spring roll out. Perhaps even another promo???

Jane, I also suspected Aubrey could only be worn with a slim bottom - I totally agree. Glad that it isn't a shapeless hot mess though! I'm eying the tweedy one (black/white/grey)...

    ReplyDelete
  35. casual-crew:
thanks for the info on the metallic tees. when you put it in the machine was it on regular wash or the 'handwash' cycle? i am tempted to try the latter because actual handwashing is such a pain! TIA!!

  38. anon 4:33: The metallic tee is handwash only, I don't know about the handwash cycle. I agree handwashing is a pain, it only takes a couple of minuites to wash.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Jetta - I have a scoopneck tee in bright rhubarb and it's definitely a bright pink that tends toward orangy-red (as opposed to a blue-ish purple)... but I would not mistake it for a red. It is bright, but I would not consider it a shade of red. I hope that helps you!

    ReplyDelete
  40. bright rhubarb is pinky, not orangy. deep persimmon is orangy. both of them are not true red

    ReplyDelete
  41. RatsOnParade- no need to purchase a Rubbermaid tote for your handwashing! The bathroom sink will do. I do this all the time with my items (even sweaters). I just make sure to give the sink a good cleaning beforehand. I use Method products to avoid any nasty chemicals interacting with the fabrics. I've used J&J baby shampoo for the actual handwashing the past 10 years. I got the tip from an issue of InStyle many moons ago and it has worked like a charm! HTH!

  42. Bright rhubarb is a reddish pink - definitely not a true red. HTH

  47. I used the extra 20% on a Lille coat in Ivory, but got better deals at my B&M (extra 30 plus my teacher discount) on a Berry Astrid and Boucle Astrid.

  50. I ended up getting the Shipley coat in ivory. Ended up being too good of a deal to pass up, especially since I've been eyeing it for awhile and the Boston winter doesn't look like it will end anytime soon.

  51. Lynzeeroo, I bought Academy sweater yesterday but I had to wake up very early for it and wait until it was stocked, about 6:30am PST. HTH

  52. Anon @ 7:31pm - Congrats, lucky you! I've been trying to find a cascading flowers astrid in black on the JC website and on ebay, but it never shows up in my size! How'd you manage to snag one?

    ReplyDelete
  53. Snagged the Maggie in Deep Yellow, I can't wait for it to get here! $71.99 versus $250 was much easier to swallow.

Also got the silver positano driving mocs...thanks to those of you who posted on the size. I was worried because I did size down, now I'm really I did! Thanks!

  54. I bought a white Maggie after seeing polivores created by FFM and others. It should arrive next week and hopefully I love it. The price is good with the 20% discount and a student discount on top of that. Also this morning I bought a dusty rose patent belt. It should match the spectator dusty rose mary janes I bought last week. The belt is the only item I bought this morning, I could not find anything else I wanted. I think I woke up too late to get the nice Tees and sweaters. Oh well, may be next time.

  55. Has anyone seen the Paradise Jacquard Jacket in IRL? Are the colors pale/subdued as the appear if you click on the color swatch button or more saturated as they appear in the view images?

    ReplyDelete
  56. Pencil skirt, when are you making your return? I might consider the ochre double serge skirt but I was waiting to see if by chance it might turn up cheap online again before the spring roll out...

Also, long shot, but does anyone have a lead on the Alessia shoe in spearmint (size 7 or 7.5). That shoe breaks my heart! (:

  57. Loved the T-Mobile advert vid. However, it's too bad that they've stole the idea from ImprovEverywhere. http://improveverywhere.com/

  60. I bought A LOT from this sale. I got the strapless Claudine dress for a wedding in March- I'm the only bridal attendant and the bride called me up and said 'snag the plum, NOW.' I had already tried it on in-store so I knew what size would fit me perfectly. I cannot say enough about this dress. Aside from my own wedding dress, it is the best fitting dress I have ever put on. It has one of the JCrew inner-corsets and as far as support and fit go- it is just a perfect design. There is also a darling little ruffle on the hem's lining that shows when I put my hands in the pockets. If you need a special occasion dress, pick this up.

I also got two tartine cardigans, two pairs of cord trousers, an additional pair of the high heel flare jeans, some fun camis, and several pairs of wellie socks.

I had a few gift cards from Christmas so what I wound up actually spending was very little. I am also excited because ALL of the items I ordered have shipped. I am hoping they all actually arrive on their 'scheduled delivery' tomorrow!

  61. I purchased the Clara Chiffon Cardigan in Heather Acorn with the promotion. I already have the Bright Papaya, and it's supercute...definitely much better IRL than the picture on the website! :)

  62. FFM-
I got the Clara cardigan as well- after seeing your polyvores with it. Thank you for always providing inspiration.

  63. FFM, can you say more about that colour of clara? I love that cardi and it is the only colour left in my size. Can you tell me what colours you think it would be nice with? I have nothing that I can invision going well with this.

  64. Sorry, to clrafiy, I meant can you say more about the papaya colour. I also have acorn and love it.

  65. Good Morning Paper Bag Princess! The Bright Papaya is very similar to Persimmon and Bright Flame...I'm wearing it with Navy, Camel, Taupe, Champagne, White, Brown, and Acorn. Here are a couple of sets I styled a few weeks ago: Click Here . HTH!!! :)
