Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to take advantage of the "secret sales", the additional 20-30% off sales, or to see some new holiday arrivals in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic! Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. quinn camis are now on sale at retail. The El Segundo store still have 30% off today. I didn't see the 40% off outwear that others mentioned.

  2. can't get the website to work right now :(

  3. Please please please let me know if any of you see crystal ball earrings, bel air bangle in crystal, hammered silk tank in P2 nantuck fog in any of the stores

  4. The website works, but is a bit slow.

I think the IT folks at J Crew seems to forget that at the West Coast people are still shopping! Must be doing some system backup or something.

  5. From palo alto store, new decadent mints and licorice tees out, plus a huge sale section:

They were having an additional 20% off sale but it made it final sale. Promo prices weren't additional % but that's where the 25% card came in handy! JC got some big moohlah from me because of that card. Store was busy but if you find the right SA, a pleasant experience ; )

    I recall:
-handful of Pink droopy flower astrids in sz2+ $99.99
-one Sz2 charcoal berry astrid $179.99
-one row of miscellaneous orange and red fionas, herringbone, and donegal tweed ecoles
-lots of papaya red ecoles size6+
-LOTS of the merino melanie $59.99 (yes, realized cheaper online, but no shipping and yay for avoiding snafus)
    - sequin placket tees
    - LOTS of vita camis and quinn camis, all colors
    - skirts: a few A line tafettas, sparkle pencil, mod camel herringbone, purple, b/w and tweed minis
    - haberdash shirts, all size S/M in peacock and blue $39.99
    - quite a few shoes, smallest size 6.5. ONE pair of juliets in black marked I think $79.99, and some yellow mocs and black mocs in sz7 similar pricing. A couple of boots in sz 9-10
    - graphic tees (candy) on sale
    - bootcut cords on promo for $59.50. other brighter colors on final sale I think, not promo.
    - maisie shirts, very few hammered silk tanks in black only
    - cashmere sweaters with sequins or shimmer on sale-- they had a couple XS black ones for $59.99 before additional off and some others new markdowns that were around the $120 range before additional sale. also they had the one that goes with the Vita cami.

wow, that's a lot. I've actually never seen their sale section so big.

In case you are intersted, my purchases/reviews:
    - Charcoal Berry Astrid in Sz0: debated if this was too big but it actually looks very classy on, with a tee and jeans. Also works nicely hooked, with a dressier outfit. TTS to slightly big. because of the large berries I would want it as fitted as possible
    - Paris scarf (they were on promo) - scratchy but I love the look and bought it in beige. They also had pink, gray, and yellow.
    - Merino Melanie Cardi - I sized up to make the sleeves long (not a fan of bracelet sleeves for this style). A little loose in the body, but I thought it looked better this way. Cute in white!
    - Bootcut stretch vintage cords: I got a 0S to wear with flats. Vanity sizing like mad.

    What I left behind:
    - Quinn cami is WAY huge. dwarfed in a size0.
    - Vita cami did not work for me- huge armholes and it was like GigiofCA said, oddly gladiatorish
    - matching cardi had scratchy metallic and did not close
    - Juliet heels gave me toe cleavage and not the somewhat acceptable kind - made it look very uncomfortable when it was merely 'uncomfortable'. i went back out the store in my lulu flats thank you very much.

hope this helps the aficionadas stimulate the economy this weekend!

i would totally appreciate any info on the SF or burlingame stores

my twittername is academygirl, might tweet what i find in SF tomorrow, please do the same!

  6. I'm not sure if anyone noticed, but some prices in the sale bin have been adjusted. Most of them were lowered, but awkwardly there's a few that went up.

    *wide wale city cords
    *penny jackets in black
    *double serge skirts in black
    *tuxedo tees
    *high heel flare jeans
    *trouser jeans
*droopy flower astrid in bright pink
*academy pants in sweet potato and a gray/black herringbone
*one sketchbook roses skirt in size 2
*taffeta a-lines in taupe & pink

I didn't see if they were on sale, but I did notice the fireball jewelry in black, cornsilk, and the light green color. I think all but cornsilk are sold out online, so wanted to give a heads up.

Also, they gave me back my 25% card once again tonight. HTH! Happy shopping!

  10. Anu, I'm pretty sure I saw a size 0 in the Nantucket fog hammered silk tank today at The Grove store in Los Angeles. Hope that helps.

  11. Now J.Crew online offer $20% off on $150 purchase or more. Code: GIFTS ends 12/8.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Smarty, by any chance did you see the sizes/colors available @ Fashion Valley in the driving mocs? Also, are they on sale @ the stores?

Has anyone stopped by the Carmel store and know what sales look like? I'm wondering if it's worth the drive. Thanks.

  13. Sorry, Green Dino has already posted a new code. Thank you Green Dino!

Anon 12:29, yeah I agree with you. J.Crew isn't kind for the West coast people! They upgrade the website while most of people are still sleeping in the West Coast. Also, most of codes end at 11:59 EST, which is around 9pm in PST (I can't come back home so early!) while most of other retailers offer code until 12pm PST. Also, catalogs and discount cards arrive later than East Coast.

J.Crew: Please make codes valid until the end of the day in the West Coast!!!

I saw lots of yellow and silver. They had probably 20-25 pairs, so lots of sizes. HTH!

  15. I posted this already:

My local store had a 40% off all (?) coats. With that discount and 25% off coupon I had, I bought Carrie coat for about $149

  16. bellemarie and smarty, Thanks for the specifics!!

  17. bellemarie:

Downtown SF store: 20% off sale items
-tees on sale (french map etc)-not sure about price :(
    -cashmere femme (BRIGHT colors)
    -Dream open cardigan in orange
-taffeta a-line skirts for $59.99 (from what I recall)
    -mohair scarves-PROMO $35
-shoes:size 8 and above (one pair of mocs in 7 in green color)
    -skinny belts (from $24.99)
-hoodies (not sherpa but the other ones-not sure about the name....for $39.99)
-crisp blue jeans (31 and 32? size only)

    SF store Stonestown:

    -coats 40% off
-they don't carry cashmere or shoes in general :(
    -hoodies as above
    -merino turtleneck promo $59.50
-some stretch vintage cord skirts (no idea about the price)
-tafetta a line skirts (1 or 2 total in the store)

That's all I can remember for now...they haven't added much to their sale section. In case you have a coupon and would like to get some promo items, it's worth a trip. Otherwise ...meh :(

  18. OT: anyone have an online coupon for gap or banana rep.? TIA!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. There are still problems with my orders placed this week. Two orders, each missing one item. The missing ones are most wanted. I wonder whether there are people in jcrew warehouse stealing hot items, especially using the occasion.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anyone know if stores still carry simone jacket? (the navy one that's online?) Any chance 30% (extra) still works? I know it was supposed to expire yesterday.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Anon 3:13am

Banana republic code: BRHOLIDAY valid through 12/15 (20% off on $125 purchase or more)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Anon 3:13am,

Here is one more. Free shipping code for Banana Rep: SHIPBR (valid through 12/31)

    ReplyDelete
  23. ONLINE is now 20% off $150 or more...

As we have discussed before this is better than nothing but it just basically covers shipping...after the 30% off sale stuff this code doesn't interest me (unless you want a regular priced item)

Store seem to have better deals...hopefully, online will too again.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I don't understand why the velvet ecole is $20 more for petite and tall if anything the petite should be the cheapest, less fabric. Tall people always pay more for their clothes. Could you imagine if stores charged more for larger sizes? People would be pissed.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Has anyone seen the new short sleeve long cardigan #10510 and the v-neck pullover #11022 IRL? The on-line says they are both 14 gauge, but it looks thin to me, I would appreciate it if I could receive some feedback on these items.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I probably won't be going to my local B&M this weekend, but maybe next week...

bellemarie: I also ordered the Charcoal Berry Astrid...it's due to arrive on Monday (fingers crossed), and I can't wait! So glad you like yours! :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. 14 gauge is thin. merino cardigans of 14 gauge are called feather-weight. 12 gauge of dream yarn is much more chicker.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I stopped by the Natick, MA store yesterday. All sale was an extra 20% off. They also mentioned that they should be receiving the resort line in the next couple of weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anon @ 6:32am: I have seen the short-sleeve cardigans in-store (they also come in a long-sleeve version) and they're really pretty, and I didn't think they were super thin. They're definitely lightweight and more appropriate for summer, but they're not thin to the point of being see-through (as the featherweight merino and cashmere tend to be). Overall, I thought the colors were beautiful and the enamel-like buttons added a really nice touch!

    Anon @ 3:13am
I just got a BR coupon in the mail - I'm having a tough time figuring out exactly what the code is to use it online (it's not real obvious on the card), but if I'm correct, the code "allaccess" should get you $30 off a $100 purchase, if you use a Gap, Banana, or Old Navy card.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Has anyone seen a cashmere sweater in Hazelnut? Specifically I want the turtle neck, but any style will do, I really want the color.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I bought and tried all three colors in the Berry Astrid. The purple is by far the best color. The gray is too subdued and doesn't show the detail of such an expensive/showy style of jacket. The blue is pretty but too bright.
The purple shade is very nice, not to bright like the blue, not dull/plain like the gray. The purple never made it to the sale so glad I got it when I did:)

    ReplyDelete
  32. The one item I have bought this far that I really like is the Pique Andrea jacket. Really like the pinkish/orange color and the fit and fabric.

    Julie

    ReplyDelete
  33. P.S. FFM, since "you're own" your comments about the Andrea convinced me to try it when it went on sale:) Love the back pleat:)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I like the gray Astrid as well as the purple that would be a hard choice, Anonymous!

It is amazing that the jacket made it to sale in a few sizes/colors. Lucky those that got it on sale in any color!

  43. THe beachwood Ohio store didn't have much in the sale section, but I returned a size 4 sketchbook roses Belle there last night, that I ordered online, if anyone's interested.

And there was one pair of patent spectator peep toe mary janes in gray, size 8.

    ReplyDelete

I am planning to visit a few J.Crew stores this weekend and I will report back what I see. :)

  45. smarty,

the zoeys, you mean the whisper lame zoey tanks? these are 88$ online, how much were they on sale at the stores?

also has anyone seen the victoria ruffle camis in their store in ivory? they're expected to ship in feb next year online, and sold out in 5 of my local stores =(

    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  46. suilove, the whisper lame Zoey tanks were $98 (!) at my B&M, marked down to $59.99, then 30% off, then my 25% card, making mine about $31. I got the light camel and it is darling!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I was at the Atrium Mall store in Chestnut Hill, MA on Wednesday. They had 30% off sale going on, so not sure if that'll change down to 20% like some have been saying. Besides sale, there were some promo items, like the new candy graphic tees (which I bought using my 25% coupon, so got for around $30!). The coats were still on promo at 40% off. There were several items in their sale section, so if anyone is wondering about that store, let me know and I'll report what I remember.

  48. bellemarie:
Thanks for the info, such a bummer about the Quinn cami. I ordered one on Monday and got a 2P, but debated going down to a 0P. Now I have a feeling it's going to be too big ...

  52. sorry for all the posts,

if anyone sees a pair of lulus in 6.5! i was waitlisted since nov for the dark cloud and was supposed to be getting them 12.15 but they were cancelled =(=(, any color would work!

    thanks so much!

    ReplyDelete
  53. As far as the new selection, the candy tees.. I am surprised j. crew would make anything with logos. Its not thier typical classic style, looks like something from hollister.

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Greenwich, CT store had two of the strapless rose print dresses, size 4 and 8. They looked a little straggly (returns maybe?) but they are $59.99 plus 20% off, plus 25% off if you use your red card in the store!

    ReplyDelete
  55. suilove: Were you looking for Lulu flats or heels? I'm on a waiting list for a different size in heels and scared they'll be cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Anony@10:56

I agree on the candy tees. I think they look very teenagerish. I would never wear one. I can find nicer weight, quality tees if I want one for much less elsewhere...I look to JCrew for unique items not logo tees....yuck!

  57. Suillove--RE: Ivory Victoria Cami

Saw these in downtown SF City Centre on WEdnesday evening--people were trying them on so I know they had a few, not sure what sizes but worth a call!

    Good luck!

I got the same deal on the Zoey lame tank as silver_lining. $59.99 plus 20% off, plus 25% off. I, too, saw it was FP online and knew I had seen it in the store, so I checked there and voila! The store, San Diego, has lots of light camel and nectar.

    *em*
There were 2-3 pairs of the graphite peeptoes. I think they were all size 8 or 9. Hopefully that's your size!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thanks smarty! I wish.. I wear a 10. So hard to find anything in a 10 on sale...

poop. i called my local store and they don't have the zoeys. i LOVED the one matched with a short sleeve cardigan in the catalog i had my eye on it..plus now it's on SALE! i'm def gonna have to call cali in a bit when they open. DAMN shipping charges!

    thankS!

It was the catalog/online photo that prompted me to buy it as well! I
    love this look:

    http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Feature_Assortment/NewArrivals/sweaters/PRDOVR~11659/11659.jsp

BTW, the Michelle merino cardigan shown runs big! The sleeves are very long. I had to size down and could've possibly gone down two sizes.

With the sale on zoey and the 20% off sweaters, i got the tank and sweater for $95! Good luck finding the tank!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Julie: So glad you were able to get the Andrea Jacket, and that you love it, too! It's truly fabulous. :)

  65. I just went to the Charleston store, to return a few items from my TURKEY order. Nothing in the Women's section blew me away. I guess it just depends on what you are looking for.

I did find some great deals in the crewcuts. Very cute navy corduroy with dogs embroidered all over. Only $15. Also a really, really thick zip-up sweatshirt for $20.

I have to give kudos to the Sales Assoc (Billy). I asked him if there were any more sizes in the pants. He offered to check a mannequin (without me asking) which, I might add, was on top of a very high shelf. They really don't know me there, so I appreciate that he went that extra mile to help me. With all the screw-ups and issues with J. Crew, I just wanted to give a good report when warranted.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Has anyone seen the Berry Astrid in a size 6 in the blue color in any stores? I waited too long to buy it on line, and now it is sold out! Any help you can give would be very much appreciated!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Marta B: Im interested in the Chestnut Hill store inventory! what kinds of shoes did they have on sale? I am eyeing the Juliets, although I have wide feet and will probably regret it! : )

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yesterday I tried to get a store associate to honor the 30% off the Matchstick promo price as they were doing online. I got the promo vs. sale speech, and didn't push it....just went home and ordered online. Cords were an amazing deal during this and the Turkey sale, and wow, have a lot of them sold out. Now I just need to figure out how much they will shrink in the wash.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Em, I tried on graphite peeptoes in size 9 1/2 if this helps. They were true to size. Hope this helps.

So glad to see there are other shoppers from San Diego reading this blog. :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. suilove at 11:08: Maybe they'll get some returned in size 6.5 after Christmas. Keep your fingers crossed, I'd keep checking.

    ReplyDelete
  71. FYI-I do not find my cords to shrink much at all (this years) but strangely I thought someone said theirs did a decent bit.

    ReplyDelete
  72. bellemarie: Thanks so much for the very thorough inventory of the Palo Alto, CA store! I was thinking of going there today but might pass. The sale section sounds big, so it'll probably be packed!

I went to the Burlingame store last week so not sure how up to date this is, but the sale section was tiny then.

    ReplyDelete
  73. PS. bellemarie: What a cool idea about twittering the deals you find at J.Crew! That would be so neat if we could set one up for everyone to be able to contribute to.

    ReplyDelete
  74. This is OT, but can anyone give my advice on how to wear the Merino Paige Jacket I just purchased? I really like it and got it on Final Sale and now I am not sure what to do with it. Thanks for any suggestions!

    ReplyDelete
  75. Anon @1:43: Congratulations on your new jacket! If you go onto the Polyvore site and type *The Merino Paige Jacket* into the search box, it will pull up several different sets that a few of us have done. HTH! :)

  80. Just shopped at the Beachwood OH JCrew. Not a lot at this store - seems like they are reducing an already limited variety of merch. I picked up the last pair of shoes - Spectator Peep Toes in Dusty Rose for $89 with my 25% off coupon on top of the 20% off women's sale. They haven't put out the winter stuff yet. Did give me back my coupon card, though.

  81. Hi all,
I was at the columbus circle store last night, they had a lot of sale stuff, pretty much the same that others have been listing, as well as lots of shoes. I got the metallic lulus and the caroline square jewelled high heels in black. They didn't have all the shoes out, so I'm not sure what kind of sizes they had, but on display they had the graphite spectator peep-toes, the almond juliets, the alessia pumps and peep-toes, the crackle claudias and the strappy crackle ones (forget the name), the serengeti juliets, and the metallic lulus and carolines. I also saw a stray gray suede glenbrae lying on the bench, along with a pair of cloud lulu flats, so I guess they have those too. Hope that helps someone! OH, and they were all on sale I think! The range was $129-149 from what I could tell. I think most were $149 but the solid juliets were $129.

  82. Anyone have the tissue rosette cami in the golden cypress color? What do you wear with it?

Also - I have an order placed on Tuesday that is still open... think I have a shot at getting it?

    ReplyDelete
  83. Is anyone finding that the online prices are better than the B&M? I was so excited to get the Teagan Ruffle blouse at $74.50 (originally $98 and in-store 20% off)and then to use my 25% off card on top of that for a grand total of $55. Online it is already marked down to $69.99 and if I could have talked a CS to using the 25% card, well I would have saved a lot more :) Really good sales today, except nothing is marked down. The surprise is at the register.

The Juliets run TTS to small. I'm normally a 9 1/2 and got a 10. Most likely b/c they are patent leather and won't really strech. I think they had a few Juliets, but don't remember sizes and colors. Best to call them. HTH!

  86. I wanted to give anyone in Dallas a heads up as I got this email today from my PS:

"It's that time again for new merchandise! Come in and shop December 9th from 12pm to 6pm and get first pick at the new goods! Check out our "gift guru" and the wish lists we have in store to make for yourself or family and friends. Also, be on the lookout for a special discount card from our CEO Mickey Drexler. Hope to see you there!"

This is for the DALLAS GALLERIA location. Maybe if I am lucky they will have an extra percentage off on that day as well.

  87. Anyone hit the DC area stores recently? :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. Jacque-I loved these when they first came out but was holding out for a discount due to far TOO many scarves(love them;) Well, after seeing what they looked like in the store after being "shop-worn" a bit--they looked really beat up. I mean I wouldn't buy one that looked as bad as these that they were actually trying to sell. That kinda told me they weren't gonna look too good for too long. If yours gets worse-return it.

    ReplyDelete
  89. leaderboys, Billy really is a great associate. I'm always disappointed if he's not there when I go in. I'll be there tomorrow - I hope they have some of the items I'm looking for. :)

  90. Both my b&m's have 20% today (Rockaway Townsquare and Short Hills, NJ). The Rockaway discount kind of bums me out, as usually they have anywhere from 30-50% off sale merchandise.

  91. Hi all,

I had every intention of being good & not going in to a B&M this weekend... Honest!
However, the Maggies I ordered earlier came in as 6reg & not 6petite. So I guess I just HAVE to go now to return them.

On the plus side, the CS I spoke with at the call centre felt bad about the mix-up & gave me free shipping. That worked out insofar as I got to use the TURKEY code & get free ship. The funny thing is that the short-shipped me some socks on that order. Then there was a mix up on the replacement order. I'm getting a little concerned about the shipping dept. Maybe they're swamped with holiday orders?

On the plus side, I got another free shipping offer because of all the snafu's. I guess it does pay to call in & (politely) explain how disappointing this can get.

Hopefully, the $$$ I saved on shipping will offset my transportation expenses.

I'll let y'all know if I see anything irresistible.

    Happy shopping!

    H

  92. My B&M also went back to 20%, but the SA emphasized to me that the items are now NOT final sale. They were 30% and FS on Wednesday.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Silver Lining

Thanks for bringing that to my attention! You know, when I was in the store I thought there was something odd looking about the sign, and it just occurred to me that the words "final sale" that appear on the bottom were covered over with white paper!

san diego, ca store has a size 8 art deco tank (i returned it there). it was still there last night; only one. HTH!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yeah, I thought that was weird too, like why are they reducing the sales? Much better if you're going to be buying gifts from the B&M, though - you can still get a discount with the option to return. Beforehand, my B&M was giving the option to have the item not be final sale, but you wouldn't get the additional % off. So confusing!

I stopped by my B&M this evening and picked up one of those short-sleeved long cardigans in shell, and a whisper Zoey lame tank in nectar. Great pieces that will easily transition to summer, plus the sweater was 20% off, and then the additional 25% card. I also red-phoned a cotton henley sweater and a polka-dot Cherie cami. Somebody made a very good point about the catalog/.com only items - it's such a pain to pay shipping on them because so much stuff doesn't work out that you're paying $20 a pop to try stuff on. Ah, well!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I still haven't received a 25% off card. I shop online and in the BM. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the discount?

I wore the matchstick jeans for the first time today. I love how the back is cut higher. They did stretch out while wearing them so buy them to fit.

    ReplyDelete
  97. This is a question about Cherie cami sizing...I read the above posts, but am still a little confused. Should I order the same size I wear in the Hammered silk tank? Thanks for your help!

    ReplyDelete

  105. Okay for anyone living in CT, stopped in the Evergreen Walk store tonight to return my Odile bag, and SA was really surprised I was returning it at first, and then she really looked at it and confirmed my thoughts about it looking too much like a "grandma bag". So I was relieved to get all the money I paid for it back. All sale items are an additional 20% off (final sale), and they let me use my 25% off card and gave it back too! I only got one item, and it happened to be the taffeta skirt from earlier this fall, it had like black and olive and yellowish colors in like a floral pattern on it...I can't remember the exact name of the skirt and it's sold out online. Total was $12 so I thought that was a pretty good deal. Sale section included:

Tons of merino cardis - 59.99

Blue and pink taffeta skirts from
    early fall - 9.99

Lots of cold weather accessories: scarves, hats, mittens, the shearling slippers were 39.99 I think, so cheaper to buy online if you don't mind paying shipping.

Wide patent belts mostly in honey glaze

a tweed ecole jacket in yellow

    olive velvet ecoles

lots of astrid boucles in hot pink - 99.99

penny jackets in black, one in white - 159.99

lots of jeans, university/academy pants, brightly colored cords

lots of flannel kate dresses - 99.99

    lots of slouchy/comfy looking tops

    a couple cashmere femme sweaters

**for being such a small store (doesn't carry shoes, handbags, or much jewelry) they sure had a ton in the sale section, but nothing really worth the price IMHO. I think right now all the prices online are way better than you get in B&M so that's what I'm sticking too. Hope this helps anyone who's shopping in CT!

  106. Items I saw in San Francisco today:

    1) Dream Open Cardigan in the orange color. I think it was called Carrot. Sold out online. Item #97657 to see pics. Can't remember the price, but addtl 20% and they had XS and L. There were at least 6 folded on a shelf.

    2) Juliet Mid Heels - Blanched Almond. I think a size 9, but I can't find my notes! $129.99 before addl 20%

    3) Juliet Mid Heels - Black Patent, 9.5, 10. $129.99 before addl 20%

    4) Leather driving mocs in Chocolate. Quite a few. They were the flat leather, not patent. I think $79.99 before adtl 20%, but I can't recall.

    5) Boots - but I didn't scrutinize the names on the boxes.

    6) Thin patent belt in dustry rose - a few left at $24.99 before addtl 20%. Black is *not* on sale. Didn't see any other belts on sale.

    7) Emerson blouses (99284) in plum & ivory. However, they are $59.99 in store, I believe, before the 20%. They're online for $39.99.

    8) Patent leather peep toe in Dusty Rose. One in 7.5 and one in size 8. I think $149.99 before addtl 20%. Dusty Rose is beautiful. I wish they had charcoal, which I tried on long ago. Very nice. These are definitely TTS, imo.

    9) Various accessories on sale at the register and in the display case near the front of the store. Nothing jumped out at me.

    10) Also the various things we've seen on sale for awhile -- matchstick & bootcut cords in the bright colors. Sequin henley tee. Etc...

I found some good men's items. A couple of things for my husband. If you have a man in your life to shop for definitely head to the back of the store. I think I also saw lambswool crewnecks on promo for $29.50.

OT, but Old Navy is very close to JCrew/SF/Westfield. They are having great promos. I got the a couple sweater zip jackets for the hubby. Great deals at $14.49 & $8.49/ea. Downside about men's sale items is there are mostly S, M and XXL. Hard, but not impossible, to find a L. The men's thermal henleys are all $9. I almost got a camo one for myself in S, but it didn't fit properly. I scored a ruffled leather jacket in chocolate brown for $38! It was $45 marked down from $149 and I had a coupon on top of that. They had at least 20 left in the brown. None left in the black.

  107. gigiofca: thanks for the info....so (question, sorry if it sounds "uninformed") if I call the store, will I be able to order and have them ship these to me over the phone? I NEED to have those dusty rose peep toes for my sister. She fell in love with them about a month ago at the SF Cntre store and I have not been able to find them since. Also would love a pair or choc driving mocs in a 7. If they can ship, it would be soo great, since the store is about a 2 hour drive. THANKS

  109. Anon @ 5:07, I was @ Georgetown today. Nothing compelling, SAs w/attitude. Nothing I felt like investing time or $ in (and I have 25%). Plethora of mediocre/undesirable sale (20% final sale) tops in L/XL. I was @ Pentagon City during 30% off and they had a great sale selection of tops, bottoms, accessories, jackets. Haven't been to Tysons recently. No need to go to Gtwn this wknd unless you need basic sweaters and a cupcake from Georgetown Cupcake. HTH. Ugh, the SAs. Pembridge-dot pencil skirt in ivory (size 0 and 2): $89.99? (from what I recall)

Double-serge pencil skirt in bronzed ochre (size 10 and 12): $79.99

Brushed gold-lamé skirt (size 4): $99.99? (from what I recall)

Lots of felted wool mini (camel, white & black): $59.99

Ombré washed-wool scarf (almost all colors: beige, pale blue, yellow, purple, pink, green etc): $39.99

Tissue tuxedo-front top (white, champagne, black, M or L): $29.99

According to SA, new items will come next week.

  114. Anonymous @ 10:16p - I have never had an item shipped from the store so I'm not sure how they determine the fees or if they match the online fees. I can't recall if there were any choc mocs in 7, but there were definitely at least 8 pair in San Fran Westfield. Good luck! And as far as Walnut Creek -- last time I was there they only had 2 pair of shoes left. They don't carry a ton of shoes & I think Pleasanton doesn't carry them at all.

I already have grey coat ( tuesday trench), white ( Lille), so wanted smth colorful. If I go out tonight, I will wear it. I believe the key is to keep everything in the same color scheme , so it does not clash much, but I personally think it's such a fresh upbeat color.I made few sets on Polyvore with it if you are interested:

  129. By giving a coupon card to only some customers, JCrew alienates the rest. I am shopping at other sites. There are terrific deals all over the internet and even with % off, they give either free shipping or very cheap shipping. JCrew clothes are nice but I can get better deals elsewhere without feeling like I'm being penalized by paying more than other "lucky" customers are. I find it hard to figure out the strategy behind this marketing.

For those of you with the coupon, enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  130. Anonymous @ 2:48 PM - I recvd a coupon this time around, but not the previous one. I know how you feel. I agree w/much of what you & others have said. I think that the coupons are randomly generated. I truly believe that based on what I've read here. I know some high spending cardholders that didn't receive one this time around. The company should definitely be giving codes to cardholders since they continue to assert how good their card is.

I heard another promo is coming out in the mail. I don't know of the dates, but I hope you all receive one that haven't in the past!

    ReplyDelete
  131. J.Crew:

Could you please stop *random* distribution of the 25% card? Please distribute cards to everyone, or just to J.crew cardholders/highly contributing customers who spend certain amount. Random distribution alienates your loyal customers.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I was told by an employee that this particular 25% discount was not random like others, it was given to the top spending customers. Whether this is accurate or not, I don't know for sure, but that is what the employee said.

  136. I just came back after a rather successful shopping trip at Columbus circle. They let me use the 25% off card (and gave it back to me too!) as well as the student discount. So between all these discounts I got 50% off sales items:

double serge skirt for about $40
    cashmere cardigan for $50
    merino turtleneck for $28
crackle metallic mary janes in pewter for $76

I didnt plan on buying any shoes but saw these ones, tried them on and they are beautiful and comfy. Plus you cant beat the price.

My finds: Juliet patent mid heels in black, perfect printed flats in patent animal print, Isabella suede heels in sweet potato, 2 pairs of Lizzie mocs- chocolate and patent black. Total: $280. They had a 20% off sale, plus I had the 25% off card; I did get it back to use again!

  146. SanFranciscoCA and GigiofCA: thanks so much! I got gifts as planned from the SF store, and a bonus - they had (a return I think) of the online only Glenbrae high heel boot in dark maple. I totally fell in love with these boots- didn't look at them online because of the $300 pricetag and they look meh in the photos. In person, very cute and I got them for $112 ; )

Other items I saw in store: they still have some sketchbook belles (sz6+), wool minis, and lots of mid-length coats in different colors on sale for ~$149-199 before the 20%. i also saw a LOT of the mocs in sz7-10 last night 8pmPST. I also twittered that they had a sz2 blue wool pencil that looked like the double serge, hope it's still there if you were looking for it! (Sorry I can't comment on the blog via iphone, the captcha doesn't show up). There was a Jamie bag too in yellow.

review of the glenbrae high heel boot: love the dark maple color with distressed leather. they had a camel pair in sz6.5 (my normal size, and what I got the lulu's in), but they pinched a bit in the toes and it was more scratched up. Note though there are NO zippers, so sizing up (I got a 7.5) is the only way to be able to put the boot on and off unless you use trouser socks (can you say blisters?). I probably could have fit into a 7 but they didn't have any and it would take more heaving to get the boot off! I wore the7.5s today with thicker socks and love the look and feel. I have really quite small calves though, been called a toothpick before, so good thing they make an extended calf version for those fortunate enough to have more leg muscle ; ) Someone go snag the camel in 6.5though - it would be gorg with fair coloring (with my black hair and black coat it stuck out too much and I preferred the dark maple). HTH!

I saw some limeish cambridge crews, various decorated tanks, lots of merino v-neck cardis with decorated buttons (dont know the name), sequined henleys (still), various accessories/hair stuff, bootcut cords, trouser cords, cuffed chinos, misc. suiting skirts/bottoms, snow peacoats, some driving mocs (I remember size 8 in vine), some patent city flats, graphic tees...

also, there was an extra 20% off all outerwear, down short puffer for 128

also, i was fortunate to get the 25% card (i have a jcrew card if that helped me get it) and they kept it after i used it. i asked if it was one time only and the SA said yes. i didn't feel like fighting her on it but alas, i'm bummed. the last time banana sent out 25% off cards to cardholders we were given our cards back and reminded by the SAs we could sue it over and over. They have the 30% off and I used my 25% card on top. She tried to keep it but I quickly asked for it back, and told her that I was told it was multiple use. She gave it back :). 161. Anonymous @ 4:13 PM - Sorry you didn't get the shoes. The Westfield Centre was quite busy so I am not surprised they were quickly gone. Perhaps even before I posted.

Bellemarie - Congrats on your boots. I could not get them on so I didn't purchase a pair. Your thin legs are working for you. ;-) I agree that sizing up is the way to go on the Glenbrae high heeled.

mack - Yeah, more of the same in Walnut Creek. However I highly recommend touching almost every item to be sure your eyes are telling the truth. I found a camel astrid and tried it on for fun. It was marked at $129.99 and rang up as $59.99 before the 30% off FS. I also tried on the boucle astrid w/droopy flower in the bright berry. I didn't get it that one but ordered a size 6 online in the charcoal.

I've updated my blog w/4 items for those that are interested. :-)

Knitting gauge is similar to threadcount in that it is a measure of stitches per inch. The higher the gauge, the thinner the fabric. That is the most basic explanation of knit gauge.

There are other factors including the type of stitches used, as some stitches will naturally cause more stitches per inch because they pull the material (wool, etc) inward, and other stitches are very open so would spread out over an inch. Of course there is size of needle, size of wool, etc, that can have an affect on gauge.

In summary, a higher gauge like 14 would be a finer knit.

  164. Dina & Anon 2:54: There is no need to be rude, this blog has been humming along nicely this week, don't ruin a good place.

  165. Anon @ 2:54, Yes you have a right to your opinion. This blog is wide open as far as I can see. I think it was the spirit of your comment that was not appreciated. Regardless, you have a point that this is a fashion blog and other people make negative comments about JCrew items all the time. Don't we come here to share and hear other opinions as well?

Slastena, it's great that you love that color and obviously it works for some people as one of JCrew's selling points is color, a lot of colour.

I'm sure most of us have things that others would never wear or buy. It's a good thing that we don't all like the same thing! What a bore that would be!

    Very well said!
There are so many colors out there, there always will be the one or may be even few that's not going to work for one person , but will work beautifully for someone else.:)I wore my Light Pumpkin coat yesterday and many people told me it was an amazing color.

OMG, thank you so much! i posted those items but never expected a response from anyone! I really, really appreciate it! I'm going to call them when they open this morning! Thanks again :)

  169. I agree Julie.

I really appreciate the time that Gigiofca and Slastena take to to post and review items of their blogs. I really like to see the J.Crew items on! It gives us all so much of a better idea. Thanks to all who contribute positively!

I love the color of the pumpkin peacoat, and admire people who "think outside of the box" with wearing/mixing colors creatively!

  170. OT - Banana Republic is having 40% off sweaters this week, and I also had a 20% coupon, so I got some really good deals last night!

Went to J.Crew also, they are having 20% off final sale. Burlington was a little picked over, but they did have a rack of some coats - lots of ivory peacoats. Puffer vests are on promo for $88. This is Burlington MA by the way! Got the Lea cardigan last time and they still had a good selection, but I will wait for the extra 30% if I buy another one! Will go to Northshore today and report back!

  171. steph,

if you're going to northshore today if you see any lame zoey tanks in or bootbut cords in indigo as well as any jackets (charcoal astrids) or coats on sale, can you let me know? thanks!

I didn't see any other colors in the Isabella, but it wouldn't hurt to call and ask. One of the SA's offered to see if there were any other shoes in my size that I hadn't purchased. DH said no way. :-) I was choosing from the boxes that were out on the floor, but I noticed good bit of display shoes that didn't have boxes on the floor. Perhaps they were in the back? 173. I just know if I wore that pumpkin coat or any other bright color to the school I work at people would make negative comments...so I try to stear clear of any unusual colors.

Often times, and I know this is "bad". If someone is wearing a bright color that I think looks awful I will compliment them on it anyway (even though I can't stand it) b/c I know they like it. (I know several other women that do this too...so just a heads up...women can be cady!!!

  174. Anonymous at 12:00,

Oh, ok. So you dress to please others, and base it on what they might think? That is what works for YOU.

I dress to please myself, and to express myself, in what lifts my spirits, and makes me comfortable, even if it is sour lemon or some other weird color. I like to show some originality and not look like others. That is what works for ME. :)

    ReplyDelete
  175. thank you jbird!

I love bright colors, but I have at least one friend who always makes a catty remark if I wear anything other than her preferred black. I just come ready with a remark that moves us on our way. For example, last year I wore my bright flame Gramercy coat to meet a bunch of friends for lunch, including her, and sure enough, she said I looked like a traffic cone. I just smiled big and said "I know! And if I get hit by a cab today, it's going to be Exhibit A in the trial -- how could you not have seen her, cabdriver?!" People never seem to know what to do when you greet cattiness with a smile, and I think not taking the bait is a much better "revenge." It drives the person nuts, but they can't exactly get mad at you for being nice, now can they? :)

    ReplyDelete
  176. kitch7: I have the same problem everytime I wear my bright colors, I receive a negative comment, always from the same person who wears black. Why do people choose to wear black all the time I do not know, it ages them by 10 years IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  177. Kitchy7, great attitude. People who need to make derogatory comments about how others look are insecure about their own tastes, and compensate by cutting down others. It's a petty way to live, but attitudes like yours are the way to combat them :-)

As for the person who falsely complements people who wear color - really, you might want to try some self examination.

  179. Steph,

Excited to hear the NS report! I am working over in Salem today, and am tempted to stop by on my way home, but Im tired and am not buying anymore until I decided which of the many sweaters I've ordered I am going to keep! : )

    happy shopping!

  180. Hey, to everyone who's picked up spectator peep-toes in B&Ms, can you tell me what the sale price is? I haven't seen the dusty rose on sale near me, but the graphite is at $150 I think (plus 20%). And has anyone seen an 8 in the dusty rose in SoCal or Connecticut? Or anywhere else? Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  181. Anon:
I got mine for $149 (-20% off, -25% off fwith the card) , sz 8 , Dusty Rose. It was a last pair of 8s, but my store ( Chevy Chase/DC) had more of 7.5s and 9s.

  182. Hi, I am anony@12....I don't dress to please others...I still wear my brights just not everyday b/c I don't want to hear it. I am always the one to have the latest and greatest and fun trendy stuff and look great in it at 5'10" and 130 lbs...but I don't want to hear people commenting each and every day so I wear neutrals sometimes. No biggie:)

  183. I don't know if anyone commented on the North Park store yet (Dallas) but I went there today. The sale section is always pretty small but I got a pair of Juliet Heels in Buttercup, size 8 for $40. They had random sizes of shoes in the Spectator, Salina, Lulu heel styles. I got the last pair of Juliets in the sale section. I remember there was a 9.5 Lulu heel in Tulip for sure. There is a good selection of high heel flare jeans, trouser jeans, and cords. A bunch of different sweater styles are on sale as well. I also saw the Sean bag in person and I'm really glad I didn't buy it online! The leather was soft but the chain looks too plastic to me. In regards to tops, a lot of sweaters and a few blouses. I didn't see any graphic tees for women.

  185. OT, Wondering if I could ask everyone's opinion.

I have to wear a turtleneck every day to hide a recent surgical scar on my neck. I'll be in turtlenecks through the winter at least (haven't figured out the summer cover yet).

The tissue turtlenecks are most comfortable but I'm wondering how they wear. If they wear quickly, I may stock up as they're the best of my t-neck options.

Any thoughts based on your experience? Thanks for any guidance you may offer.

    Hope you enjoyed the weekend!

    Best,
    M

  186. HI Linda - do you remember the colors/sizes in the Spectator heel by any chance? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  187. Mena: I have 2 tissue turtlenecks and have washed them both about 4x already, they wash oka I hang dry time so they will last a little longer. I don't anticipate getting more than 1 season out of them because they are made of a thin weight. If you could stock up on a couple while they are on sale it would not hurt, and you would have more color options to choose from.HTH

  188. Mena,

I have Tussue Turtlenecks from both JCrew and the Gap and hate to admit it, but the ones from the gap thus far have proven to wash and wear better.

  190. Casual Crew,

Thank you! I should start line drying mine so that I get a little more wear out of them.

My fear is that I'll get to March and the t-necks I have will be in threads and the Spring line will be the only thing available.

I likelly will invest in a few more just to be safe....

    Thanks again!

  191. I was in my local store tonight (Towson, MD). I saw the snowflake tee in an XS (on a mannequin) and the Madeline dress in size 10 (in the sale section.)

I thought these might be sought after items, so I'm posting them in case.

Their number is 410-321-6589. They've got 30% off sale items and it's not final sale. HTH

  192. Hit the Pioneer Place JCrew in downtown Portland, OR yesterday. Matchstick cords on sale for $59.99 then take 20% off. I brought along my 25% discount card, which the salesperson (at first) tried to use my discount card and NOT the 20% off. I explained to him that the 25% discount is off ALL in store purchases and he relented and gave me the 20% and then the 25% off, making the cords $35.99. BE CAREFUL aficionadas, JCrew employees will try to take your 25% discount card for only one use, but mine had the mulitple use wording on it. I stuck to my guns and got my card back. I will be back next weekend to see the further discounts... and to use my card before it expires on the 15th!

Also, JCrew had all of the things that others have mentioned, mostly extra small sizes and extra large sizes of skirts, jeans and astrids. I guess that medium sizes get sold out the fastest!

  193. Mena -- do you have any scarves? They can be a great alternative to turtlenecks if you need to cover your neck. Not that I gained any expertise in that area during high school or college. :)

  194. The funniest thing is the shoes and coats I got the MOST compliments on are the bright colored ones. I have a bright yellow double breasted stadium cloth coat I got several seasons back, and most times when I wear them I received positive comments. Ditto for my miu miu bright yellow & orange flats I got for next to nothing from Amazon.

I live in S. Cal, so maybe people aren't as conservative. But I think the responses positive because a lot people want to wear those bright colors, but are afraid of other's comments.

I dress to please myself, so I really don't care either way. But it's interesting because I don't get compliments on grey or black clothing.

  195. South Coast Plaza has tons of stuff on sale. Cashmere t shirts and cardis are $99.99, so after the thank you card and 20% off they are $60. A few issys in XS and S. A few alessa maryjanes in 7 & 7.5 in graphite (on display at front of store), and the peeptoe patent maryjane in dark grey in 7.5.

They also have tons of skinny patent belts on sale, including the peacock one.

Those who have shebert metalic crackle heels - they have a few of the sherbet and also silver clutches on sale for $59.99

I couldn't resist and got the stormy tweed Lille coat (good thing I did as my size sold out online). I really liked the usual style and the fabric is lightweight so it's more useful for Southern Cal.

Lastly, a few ochre double serge skirt, but only in 10 and 12. Oh, and the duchess dot skirt is definitely at South Coast, but didn't check the size.

the madeline dress, was it just that size that was available? i fell in love with that dress but couldn't get myself to pay full price on it! do you remember the price on it? thanks!

  197. Kitchy7--

Thanks for the tip on scarves. I've tried a few times, but they shift revealing what could look to some as the result of a violent crime. (I'm going to try again in the spring when I'm told my scar will be lighter.)

And my failed use of concealer in high school / college has me looking to turtlenecks....

    Very funny, btw.

Hope you had a great weekend!

    Thanks again,
    M

  198. The Canton, CT store had 30% off sale items this weekend. The rest of the stores (Westport, Greenwich, Farmington, South Windsor) all had 20% off.

The Greenwich and Farmington, CT stores had the Juliet patent-leather midheels in black and almond for $129.99 and bright peacock and yellow for just $59.99.

In all stores, there were lots of Merino Melanie button-cuff sweaters. Even though the tag said $59.99, the stores will match the online $39.99 price.

There were lots of Astrid bouclé jackets (the floppy flower pin) for $99 in Farmington and Canton.

Lots of Taffeta A-line skirts were in Greenwich for I think $39.99.

The Greenwich store had some abstract wool Kandinsky Skirt for $19.99.

    I hope this helps. :)
