J.Crew Factory Store Offer At The Jersey Shore

"Thanks!" to Anon at 10:00PM (in this post) who shared with us that J.Crew is also offering customers $25 off purchases of $150+, and $50 off purchases of $250+ at the J.Crew Factory Store in the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets (located in New Jersey). This offer is good from 11/13/08 through 11/26/08.

  1. Okay I was wondering if someone could explain the difference between the outlet J.Crew (as in woodbury commons) and the J.Crew Factory stores (theres one in jackson, nj)

    Same thing?

Because I know at Woodbury they sell some poor quality J.Crew things. Some things just aren't "right." ie. lining will be different or not there at all

Just wondering so that I don't make a trip to the factory store for no reason.

    Thank you!

  2. I wonder if the Factory Store in Orlando will send out a similar coupon? I still haven't been to it, even though it opened in May of this year...if I do have time to go to a J.Crew, I always opt to go to the regular one in the mall.

  3. Factory store and outlet are the same as far as i know.
and they ARE definately lesser quality. outlets have their own designers that copy what the regular jcrew makes. they have their own manufactures and own everything. that's why you can't return something from a store to an outlet and vice versa

  4. I think the outlet and factory are the same store and concept. I love the styles at the outlets but not the quality. I see a real difference in the fabric, cut and colors. The outlets do have some great sales but not worth the regular prices. I thought that was interesting what annon@8:00a.m. said. I did not know they had their own designers and manufacturing. How do you know that?

  5. I'm going to have to disagree. MOST of what outlets have is knockoff from regular J. Crew (usually copying what was really popular last season at a lower price). However, I have seen authentic last season items at outlets (normally coats, cashmere, & some tops), which is weird because sometimes they are right next to a knock off of the same item. EXAMPLE: I saw a real tweed bella ($129-fully lined, etc.) next to a knock off bella ($99-unlined). A little strange. I think what anon at 8:00 AM said is correct, but they can also purchase leftovers, so it's just hit or miss.

  6. I find that the stuff is the same. I have bought cashmere from both and they are definitely the same quality.

  7. I agree that threre is no difference at all with the cashmere.

  8. I have cashmere from both and I don't notice a huge difference. I also have some tissue tees from both and I think they're about the same, but the fit is a little different. I tend to buy basics at the outlet- cashmere tees, tissue tees, and plain colored things- navy, black, red, gray... but I go to the retail store for more specific items. I do have a factory bella jacket though that I love, and also a fiona!

I always try and compare prices at each, it has to be much cheaper at the outlet for me to consider buying it.

FWIW I used to work at the factory store, and sometimes we did get items from retail later in the season that they were released. We also would have retail "inspired" items, where the lining and color would be different, such as a fiona jacket, and they usually appear the following year rather than that season. I've seen a lot of hab shirts and jackets that came straight from retail several months later and there are great deals on those pieces!
