Madewell Email: The Boot of the Season

Madewell sent an email featuring the Italian Leather Archive Boot. I have to say they do look beautiful- I especially love the color! The email is also reminding us about the "Denim after Dark" events (click here to learn more).

Incidentally, J.Crew stores have some of their beautiful leather boots on sale (with an additional 50% off).

What are your thoughts on J.Crew boots? Are they worth the price tag? Are they comfortable? :)

  1. So pretty! But I've never tried J. Crew boots, because man- I love my Frye boots. I don't think I'll ever stray from them.

  2. Chloe, do you think Frye boots would be good for girls with bigger calves? I've seen on Zappos that some people have commented on them stretching fairly easily, but I was wondering what your opinion was.

  3. Maybe. I have embarrassingly skinny calves, though, so it's hard for me to say. They definitely don't fit tight around me, but I think a lot of it has to do with the style of the boot. I have the Frye Fiona Tall boots right now, and they have a slightly adjustable strap on top:

The leather used for the boots is nice and soft, though, and I do see it stretching with some wear. Hope to have helped!

  4. I don't think I will be trying boots from J.Crew or Madewell, as I've heard mixed reviews...for the money I would rather purchase another brand such as Born, Frye, or Michael Kors (which I just did). :)

  5. Hi Shannon! I purchased the Michael Kors Meteor in Timoro Suede seen Here for the great reviews, and Here for the online site I purchased them from. They were only $59.95 yesterday, but the price has gone back up again today.

  6. I have boots from J.Crew (last season and they look a lot like the Madewell ones) and they are very comfy. I waited for them to go on sale slightly but they have been totally worth it

  7. I am loving some Madewell items right now, but since I don't live near a store, I have so many questions about fit...and how much is shipping? They have some mocassin type boots now that are so cute!

  8. Anyone know whether Madwell accepts the JCrew card?

  9. I have boots from J.Crew, and they are my all time favorites! I have the Tenley flat boots in rust, and they are wonderful. The color gets even better with wear, and they have been 100 percent comfy since the first wear. Very soft leather, no breaking in. I also get tons of compliments with them. I got a regular calf size, and my calves are pretty moderate, and they fit just fine!

  10. I have a pair of black 3" heel boots from last season and I LOVE them. The heel is the perfect width, not too skinny or chunky. Nice buckle detailing higher up on the calf and they are so comfortable. I snagged them on ebay when you could get good deals on JC stuff (what has happened with that btw? I never find good deal there anymore). Anyway, I recommend them if you like the style but I love J Crew shoes so there you go.

  11. How odd. I have yet to hear mixed reviews about J.Crew boots (or shoes).

My brown "riding" boots (from two seasons ago) are my favorite pair of boots, ever. I own a few hundred pairs of shoes, so when I wear a specific pair three times a week, well, that speaks well of (my obsession with) them. :)

  12. I have a pair of the Rivington kitten heel boots in black. I bought them last winter when they were at a huge discount plus another 40% off. I think I ended up getting them for 60 or 70 dollars? For that price, they are awesome. I don't think that I would have ever paid full price.

I am a size 2 in pants at J.Crew, but I have pretty muscular calves. The regular calf size is a bit baggy on me, though.

  13. re: the low heel tenley boots. is there enough room in the regular calf size to tuck in a pair of jeans? thanks!

  14. I have the Melrose kitten heel boots from two years ago, and I love them! fabulous and comfortable and oft-complimented! I remember buying them for a ridiculously low sixty dollars, too :)

I do see what some of you are saying, though. I've heard from a fair number of people that for the price, they go for other boots.
