  4. And I see that Ann Taylor Loft has the promotion of getting $25 for every %50 you spend!

  5. It's funny--I signed up to be on BR's marketing research panel (which basically means I fill out surveys online about once per month), and they just sent me a survey about sales and promotions. Essentially, they asked, do you shop mostly FP or on sale, which retailers do you think have the best sales/promotions and why, and which promotion types do you like best. I put ATL in for a retailer with best promotions--extra % off already marked down merch plus those $25 off $50 cards. Oh, the survey also asked if the current economic downturn was affecting your spending on apparel.

I wish I liked ATL clothing more...some of their fabrics are so cheap looking!!! Also I went into AT today to see if they had anything I wanted to buy with the 25% coupon, and everything screamed "50 year old woman." Ugh they need to revamp their design style!

  6. OT: First time shopper with jcrew, and I just received a bunch of items from the final sale. Mini review follows:

Wool garbadine jacket, skirt and pants in black, 8P - I received these first, and these fit like a dream. I don't think I even need to hem the pants up and that's a first for me. I was shocked however, by how rough the fabric weave felt. I guess I will buy the super 120s next time.

buttery twill pants, warm stone 8P - these actually look like wide leg pants..they are that wide. Very soft and comfy though.

7" chinos for hubs - I got these in 32"...bad call. Cut way too narrow for him. No idea what to do with them now.

wool/cashmere sweater for hubs, green large - this will probably fit and make a nice filler xmas gift :)

cashmere cable v-neck in heather grey, M - I'm really disappointed in the fit for this sweater. I'm a size 8 in everything, but this was way large on me. Any ideas on safely shrinking this? or am I better off giving it to someone else? I also think that my Lands End cashmere pieces feel better/softer. May just be me though.

So far I got inventory cancelled on two items. And I have v-necks more coming in that medium size that's too loose on me, and a seaglass piper tank in 8. Any ideas on how that will fit?

  7. Cass: I agree with you about ATL. I have no use for that stuff anyway since I no longer work behind a desk, and I am still in my twenties. The first and only time I ever walked into an ATL I was horrified at how boring everything was! That's also the reason why I rarely ever go the Gap...

  8. sorry this is a bit off topic, but can anyone tell me if the two 15% off coupon codes are stackable?

    Thank You!

  9. J. Jill used to have some really cute clothes, but lately they've gone Old Lady! And I'm old! 55, and still think their stuff is elderly. No place to leave them comments, though. I heard that an exec from Eileen Fisher had come over to J. Jill. I sure wish there was some influence on their designs, in terms of a return to some good fabrics and cuts, instead of all this embroidery. Sheesh.

  10. Anonymous@ 11:28: You make me laugh!! I can't say what J.Jill's stuff looks like, as I'm not exactly the target demo; but speaking of elderly clothes, Coldwater Creek always comes to mind!

  11. an @ 11:18p - I loved the gab pants and I didn't think they were too rough in texture/feel. I recvd navy and am looking forward to receiving them in chocolate brown. The colors are rather dark, but I'll live. I ordered & recvd v-neck sweater and it swims on me. When I went back and read the description it said 'tunic sweater,' so maybe that's the style of your gray cashmere. You can always sell it here in the weekly swap exchange.

  12. Cass: I agree with you! ATL has great sales, but I hardly ever find anything to purchase. I really want to like their stuff, but it just never works. :(

  13. Since we are talking about other retailers, I wanted to pass along that I found a cute top at Gap today. Similar to the Elizabeth halter, its a ruffle neck that cuts in, with a tie at the waist for good shape. The gray is pretty!

I also liked the Gap wool blazer, good cut.

Anyone know if there are any Gap coupon codes?

  14. jliz - The GAP blouse is beautiful. I wonder how it fits since it's 100% cotton. Looks pretty on the model, of course. Regarding coupon codes, you can check any online retailer @ retailmenot.com

  15. Yay! i was going to go to the mall today anyway to use an Ann Taylor gift card and this coupon makes it even better! Thanks!

Agree with some of the thoughts on ATL; I always go in hoping to find something I like but never do. Most of my work clothes come from AT and BR.

  16. I really like JJill and I am only 30...they had some really cute belts this summer and their socks/tights/kneehighs are super quality. They had these crinkle silk blouses a year or so ago and I bought all 3 colors in my size....they have some very up to date items....denim skirts esp. are nice quality.

Now, Cold Water Creek....that is one scary place...

  18. ATL is offering double coupon cards this weekend. Surprising since they also have the 20% coupon. I normally love many pieces, but I'm not super excited about any of their new items.
