Site down AGAIN! :(

As many of you (like Slastena, Sara M., kellyanne311, and others) have pointed out... the site is down again. All I can say is... "Seriously J.Crew? C'mon now!"

UPDATE: Unfortunately, the website has been up (up and running s-l-o-w-l-y) and down ("be back soon..") all day. :( Also, there is a several minute wait (about 6-10 minutes) when calling in to speak to a J.Crew customer representative.

I am thankful I haven't purchased anything through the website so far. The (one) order (for the one item) I purchased the day before the website "upgrade" has been charged and sent to me three (oh yes, three!) times so far. (This is the same order they lost but then found again.) I have asked them several times to cancel the order after receiving the item the first time. :( But no matter how many times the nice customer rep cancels it (and assures me it has been canceled) the "new" system still sends me the item. I am beyond frustrated with the new system so far!!!

What are your thoughts on this whole website situation? How long (in terms of days, weeks, or months) do you think it will be until the website works to near perfection?

  1. I can't believe it. I get up to go get some coffee and the site is down...AGAIN!! Soooo frustrating.

  2. Frustrating is too nice a word to use for JCrew's website right now:)

  3. I was about to place my order for the San Telmo Jacket, but was not able to. Then went to my pilates class, and now the site is down. I tried to call CS and the wait is 11 minutes...What's going on!!!!

  4. OK. Now say it with me, "JCrew's new website is (fill in the blank) Hee hee....

  5. JCrewjunkie & Anonymous at 9:05AM: Frustrating is right! I have to tell you I am quite surprise that this is still happening!

Newyork0311: That is awful. I don't know what is going on either. But I hope my information stored by J.Crew is being protected!

  6. I'm just shocked by this website transition. It's the worst I have ever seen. Hopefully they are switching it back to the old website!

I have no idea what is going on with my order. I placed it on Sunday and no word on it at all. J.Crew is pushing my buttons!

  7. I'm glad they are at least trying to fix something - that site is so slow it drives me crazy!

  8. On a lighter side, I received my Helena Pave Sandals in fuschia. They make a foot look fab but not so easy to walk in. I knew it by the look of the soles in the picture but was sucked in to buying them because they are really pretty shoes. I think I need to flex the sole back and forth a few times, or at least wear them in the heat so the become more flexible. Pretty cheap soles for an on sale price tag of $79.99 (in my humble opinion).

Anonym @ 952: the word came to mind immediately but this isn't that sort of blog :) Keepin' it clean!

  9. sassysouth, if only we knew they were going to fix it once and for all I wouldn't mind it being down again.....but there have just been too many problems over too long a period...I can't imagine it going down at the start of a business day is a good sign...I take that as a VERY bad sign.

    ReplyDelete
  10. ......and running so slow we could all catch it and fix it before a page would load:)

  11. The
    Mini-patchwork madras jacket item 93564
is in Final Sale for $29.99 but is not designated as Final Sale on the item's page nor in the checkout page (if anyone's interested in trying).

  12. I think I may out a call in to CS this evening about the order I placed yesterday. The website being down earlier makes me nervous.

I wonder if they were trying to fix the freeship code issues?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Alexis, that's a very good point! What if they all of our information gets messed up... It's ridiculous how this upgrade is proceeding, especially with today's techonology. Don't they hire qualified consultants to make sure things happen properly?

BTW, do you have the black san telmo jacket? Do you like it?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hi Newyork0311: I do have the san telmo jacket in black and the polka dot print. I know Vivian and Fabulousfloridamommy also own the black san telmo jacket too.

I like both jackets-they are both pretty, and have a sturdy fabric that keeps its nice shape. And I got the black one for $38 (which was a great price!) I would definitely recommend getting them.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Alexis: wow, what such a great deal. At that price, I would love to get it! I did read about FFM's advice regarding the price on that jacket. I'll try ordering it over the phone. Thanks so much!

  16. I'm trying to get on to find a replacement dress. I received the MATILDA dress yesterday and it is in one word, horrible. The size 0 is more like a size 6. It doesn't stay wrapped because of the fabric. It is really wrinkled and not flattering at all. I would think twice if you want to order this dress. It's not worth the 148, great concept but it just didn't work. I think they must have sewn the model into it to tighten it up.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I think the whole situation is just almost beyond belief at this point...it's coming up on 2 weeks since the dreaded upgrade, and still nothing seems to be working properly. Granted, I'm no IT expert, but I would assume the one's working on the site should be experienced enough to just get it fixed...is it really that hard?

    ReplyDelete
  18. oh my god. I am so OVER this! I thought for sure after they put the shoe back on the homepage that things were done. And it's not like everything is fixed now either! Fiona is still on there for "null"!

I wish I lived near better j.crews! But here in washington d.c., everyone wears it so you can rarely find a deal in the sale section on anything besides a t-shirt. I need my jcrew fix! Maybe I'll make a trip to lynchburg and the clearance center ;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Ilk: Thanks for the warning. Thats too bad it is so pretty. But at least it is full price so it is returnable!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi everyone! The site (JC) is really slow--I just tried to look at it and gave up.

This is off topic and not important, but I just remembered something. In a thread a couple days ago, we were talking about tent sales and stuff. Well, this is weird but true: There was a store in Princeton (NJ) that was NOT a J.Crew store (I'd have to say this was around twelve years ago). To be honest, I can't even remember what they sold, but in the back they sold JC stuff. The labels were cut or removed, but they had clothes and shoes and stuff. Really weird, but true.

  21. I ordered a pair of Favorite-fit solid Keaton pant item 90895 last night in black (only $19.99). I'm thinking the wide waist band will look okay with my button downs tucked in, as the wide waist band will shorten appearance of the length of my hips-to-bottom-of-bum area.

    Does anyone own these pants?

    ReplyDelete
  22. mekiki: We have 2 Oops! stores here in the Charleston, SC, area that sell old J Crew items, with the tags cut out. The stores don't always have a lot of J Crew items, but sometimes you can find a good buy. I don't know if this is the same store as the one in New Jersey.

  23. It's down again?!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Down again!

    Up again!

Uh, I think we need to send JCrew a link to Monster.com. They need an IT department.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Alexis, FFM, Vivian, or anyone else with the San Telmo: Sorry to keep discussing this jacket, but I was really wondering how you wear it? Not to repeat myself too much from another post, but I tried it on last night and it fit so well. It just felt like it needed to be buttoned to keep the shape, but I got the stuffy vote from my boyfriend with it buttoned. Any thoughts/suggestions or should I just finally let it go? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Kater, I totally know what you're talking about. I live in the DC area too, and popped into the Pentagon J.Crew, was sorely disappointed. =(

And yes, the site is intermittently on and off. I was just thinking how I do remember clothes retail sites doing upgrades and such (e.g. Gap, Banana Republic, Anthropologie - which I remember actually ran a "parallel" site to the being-upgraded site), but never being this bad. It was like I went to sleep one night after visiting that site the same day, I wake up the next day and voila! The site was different (upgraded) AND up and running, business as usual.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Rach, I bought the Keaton pants yesterday too. I've not tried them on or anything, but I'm getting the same feel from you -- they'll lengthen everything out. They look like total hot pants :)

And... the J. Crew site isn't loading for me either.

    ReplyDelete
  28. FFM & Alexis: Thanks for the tip on the San Telmo Jacket! Just place the order for mine. What a great deal!

Now I have four orders expected to arrive sometime in the near future...they weren't able to check the status of my previous three orders...I don't even want to think what will happen...

    ReplyDelete
  29. It took me about 20 minutes, but I think I successfully placed an order for the tulip jacket in navy! The free shipping code even worked! Now we'll see if my package actually arrives...

Also, could they please take down the Fiona jacket? It is such a bummer to keep clicking on the link only to find it "$null"!

    ReplyDelete
  30. e&smomma: thank you for sharing my pain :( I actually think the pentagon city store is the worst one, although it's the one I go to most frequently. Not only do they rarely have anything, I think the sales associates are so rude! They won't even speak to you unless you have like 6 jackets, a suit, and a dress in your hands (i.e, a big sale), and are so reluctant to ever look for anything for you - even in their very own back room, never mind other stores. I don't really like the Georgetown location either - better selection, but same icky staff. I was pleasantly surprised at the one in chevy chase though - again, no really great finds, but the sales associate - GiGi, was super nice.

Alexis - maybe we should have a post about best/worst b&m locations - not only for finding items, but for their customer service?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Kater: Great idea! I think CS is a hard job, and giving them credit for providing a nice CS is also important! We can even add the names of CS over that phone that has given us nice service. :)

Oh, I'm shocked to hear how rude they are at your location! Most of the Jcrew's I've been to have really nice CS.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have never seen another on line site with so many problems for this long.

I've tried a couple of times to buy something and then backed out since it was slow or glichy. I almost bought one of the ubber expensive men's belts that is usually %150, but was marked down to $89. At the end I cancelled my order since I was unsure if it would get here. I'm still waiting on stuff from over a week ago.

I had to hit the Gap yesterday instead. For less than the price of the belt I got chinos and a sweater. Where is the old Jcrew I remember with great deals and a site that worked?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Has anyone out of the county been able to open the website in the last month? I am in Poland for a few months and haven't been able to open the site since they started updates!

    ReplyDelete
  34. kater: Chevy Chase? Hmmm...I'd have to try that one. The one in Tysons Corner is alright too, or rather, WAS alright, since they're undergoing renovation right now (I think they're building a Madewell store adjacent!).

But I did find that attitude you refer to present in both the Pentagon and Tyson's stores. I miss T; he was the sweetest (so helpful), but he's left.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I live in England and haven't been having any problems with the website loading...that is to say same as the rest of the US folks...when it's up there it's up here and visa versa.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I want to order the San Telmo jacket, but I don't want to pay $89 for it ... if I call CS, will they do a search to see if a b&m has it, despite it being available on the website?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I just have to say it's extremely bad business to distribute a 20% off coupon code and then your website functions so poorly no one can check out!

Alexis - didn't you mention sometime in the past about having/loving the City Fit buttery twill trouser pants? If so, how do they fit? How is the fabric? Are the legs really wide?

    ReplyDelete
  38. e&smommma: so that's what's going on at Tysons! I was just hoping it was going to be a gigantor j.crew store!

I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems at these locations though. I've even thought of calling to complain, but have never done it. I used to work in retail (banana republic - I know - traitorous!) so I know how hard it is. But if someone was desperate for an item, I looked high and low for it - even if it cost 3 dollars - because I knew how much they would appreciate it in the end!

    ReplyDelete
  39. There is a Fiona jacket in Papaya, size 4, available on eBay BIN for %59.99 ... I am not the seller, I just know a lot of people have been looking for this one. I searched for "j.crew fiona".

    ReplyDelete
  40. kater: If I'm wrong and it's just a ginormous J.Crew store, I'm fine with that too! =)

I was thinking maybe it (the attitude) was because I don't look like someone who would walk straight out of a J.Crew catalog!

And I agree with Heather C., why put out a coupon when your site has gone to shoot?

    ReplyDelete
  41. Oh, and kater, no plans in applying for a J.Crew job? I betcha you'd be excellent! *wink* =)

    ReplyDelete
  42. ha ha! I've totally thought about a job at j.crew. Can you imagine one of us with the power of an employee discount! I'm in grad school, so I could totally do it part-time, but there are no locations that are super convenient. And I think it would prevent me from ever doing any school work, because I would just think about all the clothes I could buy. Not that I don't do that now though! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  43. In case anyone is interested, I just saw the waverly jacket on sale now for $29.99 in all colors.

    ReplyDelete
  44. michelle: the San Telmo has been on sale in the stores for $49.99 plus and addt'l 25% off...Alexis and I both purchased one for that price PLUS the educator discount, so we only paid $38. The website has them available in all sizes now...try calling CS and telling them the stores have them for the lower price plus 25% addt'l., and you would like to get the same price. My store in Orlando had one left after JC bought her's last evening, so try using them as your reference for the CS rep to call...the number is 407-226-9732. Good Luck! Let us know what happens.

    ReplyDelete
  45. heather c: I have a pair of the city fit buttery twill trousers and I love them! I have always been faithful to the favorite fit chinos, but I tried these on and loved them. The material is so soft - buttery was a good name choice. I normally wear a 6 short in favorite fit and a 4 short in city fit, but I bought these in 6 short and they fit me great. They do have a wider leg, but not super wide. (I know that's not much of a description. I don't like super wide legs, but these were just right.) I will definitely be buying more of these in the future!

    ReplyDelete
  46. it's.a.southern.thing: I plan to wear my San Telmo Jacket mainly left unbuttoned. I am going to pair it with a Tan Tank/Tee and White Wide-Leg Pants. I will also wear Gray Wide-Leg Pants and a White Tank/Tee, as well. I also like the look of a striped shirt under it paired with the white pants. Fall/Winter it will be great with Gray or Khaki Pants and Dark Denim. I think a Turtleneck will also look nice underneath it, even though it is 3/4 sleeves...I may pair mine with dark brown pants (since the buttons are brown) and a white turtleneck...classically chic. :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Based on FFM & other blogger's praise for BORN shoes, I placed an order for two pairs of BORN shoes ($45.00+15% off coupon for ea.):Ascott in Rust Color (I'm wondering what this is going to look like in person :|

    Renoir in Natural
Renoir has a khaki/green color that is questionable on shoes.com but pretty on Amazon but sold out in my color.

I'm not ecstatic over the colors but we shall see. I haven't ordered shoes online other than from JCrew.

    ReplyDelete
  48. rach: it looks like you picked nice neutral colors for the shoes...they should be very versatile. I had a pair of the Renoir in Black, and always received tons of compliments on them. The Ascott look similar to the Isolas which I have in Brown and Black, except they don't have a strap around the ankle. They are super cute...I hope they work out for you! It sounds like you got a great deal on both pair...let us know what you think when you get them! :)

  49. Eddie & Stretch's Momma and Kater;
I did not have a good CS experience in Chevy Chase. This was actually a store that refused to give me student/educator's discount on top of FS and the store manager was very rude about it. My home store is Montgomery Mall and CS there is a hit or miss: Natasha,Kevin adn Jillian are super nice, but some other clerks are not so nice. I have noticed that I get more attention if I buy full price ( which rarely happens), if I just look for sale items- they are not as eager to help.
Overall,I am yet to encounter the fabulous J crew b&m CS that FFM and other were raving about. It's really ok in Towson,Harbor Baltimore, Chevy Chase and very mediocre in Columbia. I have not been to Tyson's or Georgetown Jcrew.
BTW,Tyson will be SMALLER once it opens. Some of the clerks from Tyson worked PT in Montgomery untill completion of renovation and they informed me that the new store will not have Crewcuts, but they will have Collection items.Overall it will be more upscale, but significantly downsized. Madewell will opened in Tyson II ( another building altogether). Would not it make more sense to open them side by side?

  50. Re San telmo jacket... Stores are selling for 59.99 not 49.99... Just to clarify...

    ReplyDelete
  51. Rach: Thanks for the hint on the Keaton pants, I ordered a pair as well, in white. I was a little worried because I couldn't decide to go with a 2 or a 4. I eventually decided to go with the 4 because even if the legs end up a little too baggy, I think it's better than the alternative (too-tight-white).

    ReplyDelete
  52. anon @12:08: You are SO right! Thanks! Everything else seems to be going for $49.99 so I forgot it was actually higher priced. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. FYI: The Printed Linen Antonia dress is really there for $49.99 now, but only in a size 2.

    ReplyDelete
  54. FFM: Thank you so much for the tip!! I called it in, and got it $40 with my student discount. One more question: do they automatically give free shipping in cases like that? Her final price was $40, and she didn't include shipping ... I forgot to make sure that she used the code. Should I call back? It takes SO long to get someone on the phone :P

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ugh! On hold with them now. They supposedly shipped out my entire order and I received 2 of 5 items yesterday. But they are saying they were all shipped together. So now, the rep says they will send the other items. Of course they are not available. They knew when they shipped it because there were X's next to those items on the packing slip. That didn't keep them from charging me for everything.

I am peeved. I ordered this to get the Katie sweater jacket in Navy. Ugh! Of course, that is the item I did not get.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Slastena: Thanks for all that info! I have been to the one in Columbia, but just walked in and out - their selection is very small.

I am a bit jealous of FFM and others who have posted about the great CS they're getting in their stores. =(

And about the renovations, that's what I thought was going to happen - J.Crew and Madewell side by side. Hmmm...I guess the logic of those higher-ups (re: stores including this website fiasco) in J.Crew is something to remain a mystery to us. I hope everything turns out for the best - for both the company and us, consumers! =)

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh good....I'm bummed that the site is down, but it was SO frustrating to be shopping the "sale" section, see something I really liked for a great price, click on it and have it be either a) way more expensive once I clicked on it and/or put it in my shopping cart, or b) have the price say "$null" at the bottom and not be able to see the size/color/price for it at all. If they don't have any more in stock they need to just take it off the webpage! I'm hoping this gets fixed today.....

I also wonder if I had called customer service if they would've honored the posted price...some items clearly stated $19.99 but when I put them in my cart went up to $39.99....hmm.

    ReplyDelete
  58. michelle: If she told you your total was $40, then I would think that she gave you the free shipping, but nothing is certain with them nowadays...if you call back then you would select option #2, and lots of times it isn't as long of a wait to get through to someone. If you have your order# then see if it is pulling up yet (once the site is back up again), and it will show the total for your order at the top right.

    ReplyDelete
  59. FFM: the email just came through (shocking) ... it says that I got a shipping discount of $8.50. Relief! Thank you again SO MUCH for the info! I am really looking forward to receiving the San Telmo ... I just hope I actually do.

  60. I am very upset with J Crew. I am upset with their unstable site. I am upset with the fact that they advertise for items they don't have. I am upset that they can't tell me where my orders are!

Prior to the new web install, I placed an order. That order was dated June 27. It will be 2 weeks tomorrow and still J Crew is unable to tell me if it's shipped or to be shipped. They are not able to provide a tracking number nor tell me the status of my order. I emailed J Crew and I received a response to be "Patient". I fired another email to them advising that I have been more than "Patient" and I expect my situation resolved immediately. They sent me an email advising that they've sent my email further up the food chain. That was 3 days ago and obviously my patronage to J Crew is not a valued one for NO ONE has bothered to respond to my email.

I am extremely disappointed with J Crew with their lack of Customer Service. The implementation has been handled extremely poorly and it has obvioulsy affected loyal patrons like us. Offers such a FREESHIP or 20% off orders $175 are nice but really, what's the point if you're not going to get your orders in a timely manner?

I'm going out of town for 2 weeks starting tomorrow. Because I am unable to track my orders, and because J Crew isn't able to tell me the status of my order, I have to pay someone to check my front door daily, "just in case" my order shows up while we're out of town. This is ridiculous that I have to resort to having do this just because J Crew cannot get their act together!

For your information, between June 27 and July 3, I placed a total of 6 orders, for a value of $600. J Crew is unable to tell me the status of any of those orders. Not only am I angry with J Crew, I am my furious at myself for falling for their FREESHIP coupon and ordering when their system was unstable. Now look where that's left me!

    I am such an idiot!!!

Thank you for letting me vent.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I called in my order after several futile attempts on the web. CS was very very kind and helpful and gave me the Telmo jacket for $39.99($49.99 with 20% off)the waverly jacket for $23.99, tulip jacket (flax) for $39.99 and patchwork madras jacket for $23.99.

Though their site has been down, CS has gone out of their way to be helpful.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm wearing my black san telmo unbuttoned. It looks better unbuttoned, IMHO. I got the 0, which is a little bit tight so wearing it unbuttoned also makes sense to me. Unlike the polka dot, this jacket doesn't have big exaggerated buttons. I love the big shiny buttons on the polka dot. If you have to choose between the polka dot and black, I'd say go with former!

Yup, mine came froma store and it has two overlapping prices - first, 99.99, and then 59.99.

    ReplyDelete
  63. mom-nyc: Congrats on the sweet deals!

    ReplyDelete
  64. mom-nyc: did you use the SALEJULY coupon, or did the CS rep just discount you...also, did you get free shipping, as well?

    ReplyDelete
  65. The site is down again at 12.38pm! They have new merchandise listed though... if you can ever see it ;)

    ReplyDelete
  66. FFM and Vivian: Thank you so much for your input on the San Telmo! I know I'd have a lot to wear with it, I just couldn't decide on the button vs. unbutton issue. I tend to gravitate towards items with empire waists or belting around the waist to help me feel more hourglass-shaped. I think that is why it may not work for my body type. The swingy shape is so adorable, but I can't quite pull it off. Kudos to those of y'all that can though! :) Vivian, if I could find it in the polka dot, I think I'd get over my issues though! Too bad it is nowhere to be found... :(

Now if I could only decide what to wear with my new Cha Cha skirt other than brown... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  67. fabulousfloridamommy: I used the 'salejuly' coupon. I didnt try to double it with the 'freeship" coupon.

I'm very happy with the items/prices. But even the CS had a hard time tracking down the items. It seems their internal system also has problems linking to the website.

BTW my pending order from June 3 which had two waitlisted items seems to have been forgotten by JCrew. The CS looked it up and told me that it should have been shipped out o/a July3, but has no update.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I too called CS and got the San Telmo jacket for the store selling price. The rep did call the Orlando store to verify the sale price while I was on the phone.

    ReplyDelete
  69. hey--can someone tell me how to sign up for the educator discount? And, can you use it on sale items? In store and also online? Thanks! (I'd look on the site, but it's down and I just don't trust it anymore...:-)

    ReplyDelete
  70. Congratulations on the San Telmo tammylee! :)

    ReplyDelete
  71. it's.a.southern.thing: Ooooh I've been lusting after the cha-cha skirt. It looks like it can go with quite a number of things. Would you say it;s true to size (just in case I get lucky)?

    ReplyDelete
  72. j: Alexis had a post on this, and I think all the information you need will be found in it: Educator & Student Discount:Shopper's Tip .

  73. vivian: Did you see my post about the Tulip Jacket? It was on one of the other topics we had discussed the other day.

    ReplyDelete
  74. FFM: Hey there. Which post is this? Have you received your Flame jacket from the Columbus Circle store?

    ReplyDelete
  75. vivian: Here it is again...

I received my Tulip Jacket in the Bright Flame this morning...YAY! It is actually alot brighter than I expected, but still very pretty. It is also longer on me than the picture of the model...maybe I sould have gotten a Petite in this one, but no matter...I will make it work. I tried it with my Joelle Blouse, but it isn't long enough to wear with it, so I will try it with my Elizabeth Halter, but will more than likely just wear it with a tank, since it is a statement on it's own. I like the idea of white pants and a tan tank with it, as well as Dark Denim and a white tank. Let me know what you think when you receive yours!

    ReplyDelete
  76. vivian: I just ordered the Amelia Tank in Deep Surf (navy like blue) that I hope will work with the Tulip Jacket...it is longer than the Joelle Cami. I got it for $20 off of the website. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. FFM: You're absolutely right. The flame jacket is a statement piece! I don't have many white bottoms (thanks to my big bottoms). I haven't received my jacket but you know what, I just order the Tulip jacket in navy. The price is just hard to resist. I'm thinking of returning the Lime or possibly keeping all three of them!

If you have these three colors, which one would you return?

  78. FFM: I have a Dylan tank in black or issit navy...Maybe that would work for me.

    ReplyDelete
  79. On my train ride into work, I started thinking again about those Keaton pants. I'm not sure if I should have gone up a size! Does anyone have experience with that?

Also FFM: Email alerts!? I had no idea you could do that! No wonder some of you are always so on the ball. :) What I really wish for are RSS alerts for all the comments, not just on a per post basis. Does anyone know if that's possible?

    ReplyDelete
  80. Thanks, FabulousFloridaMommy!I'm a bit new here...and was actually a little surprised that there are so many other people as obsessed with J.Crew as I am!

    ReplyDelete
  81. yup down again. DOUBLE UGH. I really think I'm going on a j.crew break. I just can't get over how terrible this is. e&smomma was so right earlier - anthropologie and banana had site upgrades recently, and it was NOTHING like this. This is just poor business practice!

I haven't gotten either of my orders (one from calling in, the other from a store), and never got a response for my initial polka dot san telmo search or my follow up email about it.

You guys must have all the CS luck, because I'm not getting any ;)

    ReplyDelete
  82. FFM: The Amelia tank looks so pretty! You always have great taste.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Hey Vivian! I wish I had gotten the Navy, too...I should have also gotten the Flax...it would have transitioned just as well as the Navy. If I had the 3 colors you do, I would return the Citrus Lime...I think the Flame and Navy will work well into the Fall, but the Lime...not so much. :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Thanks Vivian! I appreciate the compliment! :)

    ReplyDelete
  85. melanie: When you first post to a topic...under the word verification is a box to check to recieve Follow-up Comments...if you check it then everyone's response will come to the email address you have registered when you post.

    ReplyDelete
  86. FFM: Thanks! The Citrus lime is not final sale either. SO that makes it easier. It's jsut strange that each time I think of tulip jacket, that lime color seems so appropriate. But you're right, it's the least practical color of the lot. Do you think flax is a good color? What would you wear it with?

    ReplyDelete
  87. j: No problem...welcome aboard! Glad you are here! :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. FFM: Thanks for the tip on follow up comments. I can sure use that too!

    ReplyDelete
  89. FFM: Maybe I missed the thread but what do you think of the piper tanks? WHich are the best colors/pattern?

    ReplyDelete
  90. vivian: the Flax will go with just about anything...just like Khaki does...it's a basic neutral that looks great with browns, black, navy...just about any color, really. It would also work well into Fall with all of the warm Autumn colors. :)

Btw...I love the Piper Tanks...I was looking at the Ivory and Kelly Green, but probably will wait until they get marked down further. I also like the printed one...isn't it called Sea Glass?

    ReplyDelete
  91. FFM: I'm glad you picked the same colors - maybe that means I have a bit of good taste too. I'm also waiting for the prices to drop.

About the Amelia tank - did you have to size down?

    ReplyDelete
  92. Ridiculous---really now! At least this is a fairly boring time (IMO at least) as far as shopping goes. I already have plenty of summer clothes, and am waiting for the Fall collection to arrive. Hopefully the kinks will be ironed out by then!

Off topic, could I ask the advice of you wonderful ladies on something? I have many knit v-neck j crew dresses I bought this summer (one was last year's galaxy wrap dress I found on ebay for $30) and I'd love to be able to wear them next month when I'm back to work (as a teacher.) I need a cami underneath to make them work appropriate. The problem is, because the knit is so thin on the dresses, every little bit counts and a full cami tends to look bulky around the waist. What I'd like is a cropped cami (like a work-out bra, but less restrictive.) I only found 2 places online that carries them---The one is almost $20 and I'd like to spend about 1/2 that since I'd be getting them in a few colors. The other site has a great price, but they are sold out of all the neutrals (black, white, gray)

    http://www.daisymaze.com/prodinfo.aspx?number=211487

Do any of you own one of these, and where on earth did you find one? :) Thanks so much!!

    ReplyDelete
  93. Josie: Do you have the Flowy Jersey Bateau dress?? I love it! It's so prim and yet has an understated elegance to it. And so easy to wear.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Vivian & FFM: I love the Piper Tanks! I went down a size for it and it was perfect, but some people said when they did that they didn't have enough room in the arm holes. I have it navy, but I LOVE the Sea Glass.

I actually ordered the Sea Glass on July 2, and it supposedly shipped on July 7 but UPS still doesn't have any info. It was $99.99 when I ordered it, but now it's marked down to &69.99 ... do you think they would make the adjustment?

    ReplyDelete
  95. michelle: Thanks for your input on the piper tanks. I had a similar story with my fiona jacket. It was $99.99 when I ordered it. Since it hasn't shipped when it dropped to $49.99, I got my price adjustment of $50. You should call.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I know this was brought up in another post, but I wasn't sure if anyone really figured it out. I'm wondering what "open" means next to items in an order that is "released". I placed two orders this past week (one last Thursday, and one Sunday) both of which say this on the site. I have not received shipping confirmation for either yet, although they are all in-stock items. I also have not noticed them appear on my cc statement yet (J.Crew CC). Since the one order was placed a week ago now, do you all think I should call CS about it? I also am worried about an item I was waitlisted for from before the web site debacle and I am worried they may have lost it. Any advice? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  97. apparently J.Crew chose Web technology from a different provider than the one that the old site ran on. Too bad - the old site was great, and it seems the new technology provider is not doing the job, or internally the web team is not doing the job, or both.

    ReplyDelete
  98. kellyanne311: the same thing is happening to me - my order says "open" and it has not been charged to my jcrew cc. According to the earlier post (which tracked down in my confusion!) open means they have the order, released means it's at the warehouse.

As to the waitlisted items, given what everyone else has said about losing their orders, I would call cs. good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  99. Vivian,
I do! I have the gray color---LOVE it! I was so excited to see it on sale in the store. It doesn't look like it ever went on sale online though....I hate it when they do that because I shop online more often than I do in store.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Josie: Me too! I have the dark slate. And all for $28! Are you interested in the other colors? Would love to hear your opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Josie: I bought the dress over the phone. Told the CS rep it was on sale in stores and didn't have any problems applying discounts.

    ReplyDelete
  102. Vivian: Thanks so much for the tip! I got the Piper tank down to $63 with my student discount, down from $99.99! I'm saving all sorts of money today, thanks to my fellow aficionadas/os :)

The CSR said that the upgrade issues aren't stopping the fall rollout - they are still sending out the catalog at the end of the month. I guess we will see if J.Crew successfully adds the merchandise to their website.

    ReplyDelete
  103. Vivian---Yikes! $29!!! I think it was on sale for $59 and then I got 25% off that so I paid around $45 and thought that was good! Is it still that price? If so I'd love to pick up the navy (I have the Gayle ruffle trench in flame and that may be enough flame for me this season LOL) Also, I didn't know you could get the store price over the phone---(not on the red phone right?) That is a great tip!

    ReplyDelete
  104. Help on sizing for Lisa dress! Im a 12 on top, 14 on bottom should I order the large or size down to a medium as it seems to be running big? JC

    ReplyDelete
  105. Vivian & Josie: Are you talking about the flowy jersey bateau dress? $29 is amazing! I got it for $44 and thought that was fabulous.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Lisa dress - I would suggest to order down based on your top. It runs big and is very stretchy.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Michelle: Yes, the flowy jersey bateau dress (CS has a different name for in their system). It has a boat neck and has three quarter sleeves. The material is not thin like most J.Crew jersey dresses (The Layla dress is terrible!). I'm thinking of getting another one in red if I can match the $28 again.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Nope, I called from my home phone. Do they have a navy? I thought it's black. Is red too lounge-singer look??

    ReplyDelete
  109. Vivian---I actually like the red. It's such a classic style (audrey hepburneque) that the bright color wouldn't come off as lounge singer IMO. At my store the colors they had were the slate gray, navy and flame--no black, but they might have just sold out. Did you get that price during the 25% off sale? I just called my store and they are all sold out. NOT that I need another knit J crew dress---I have 6! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  110. woohoo - my giraffe necklace just came! It has renewed my faith! The store in Burlington, Massachusetts is the best (although they did charge me for shipping)!

this necklace is so cool - such a statement. I can't figure out how the clasp works, but whatever!

    ReplyDelete
  111. Ooooh, kater! Congratulations, a buy like that would renew my J.Crew faith too! LOL!

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you get it for?

    ReplyDelete
  112. Josie: I got the dress last week. It was 25% sale - still going on now in some stores.

You can call CS and ask for the discounts.

My mistake - it's navy not black. I just think navy looks too close to dark slate if I want to buy a second color, but I'm not sure I can carry off the fresh strawberry color.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Wow, Vivian! Sounds like you got super deals on the dress! And I agree with josie, I've always been a little partial to red - makes you feel more confident, but in this style, it would be probably played down a bit because of the classic structure of the dress.

It's weird that you got it at that price - I don't think it's even on sale at the J.Crew store near me.=(
If it is, it's not that low.

    ReplyDelete
  114. no not at all - it was 75 (99, then 25% off for sale), but they charged me 10.50 for shipping. so with tax, it was 90. still pretty pricey, but considering the one on ebay went for 127 or something like that last night, I still feel vindicated...:)

    ReplyDelete
  115. FFM and Michelle, in regards to the San Telmo jacket, did you call a specific store to get that price or corporate. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I just looked up the Piper tank after reading the comments above (it only took me about 20 attempts and an hour b/c of website issues) -- my goodness, does anyone actually purchase tank tops full price at $168 (sea glass)??? Does that price seem a little absurd, or is it just me?

    ReplyDelete
  117. So, as a notorious flip-flopper, I decided that maybe I should have gone with the 2 after all. I called them up and they said they can only change orders now for 20 minutes after it's been placed under the new system. They can't even cancel orders anymore and re-place a different one. :( I wish I'd known that, I'd have called back sooner!

    ReplyDelete
  118. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  119. kater: I'm so happy you have your Giraffe Necklace! Any plans on how you are going to wear it?

I have the same Giraffe Necklace. It's still in the bubble wrap. I don't think the clasp is meant to work, since the necklace is long enough, you just pull over your head.

I need some ideas how to wear this necklace.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Melanie: yes, they can't. They can't go in and change an order after 20 minutes. So say if you need to change a size, they would issue a new order number - unlike in the past where it's going to show in the original order. I suggest you call again and speak to different rep. I changed a size on Monday, and they managed to cancel the wrong size. Even if they can't, they can still reroute the package at the distribution center. That's what I was told. Not an issue at all.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Hi, webbysuzy! If I had this necklace (*keeping drool to myself*), I would probably wear it with a crisp, white buttondown with gray pants or khakis, or any color that's on the giraffe clasp, just to play off the colors.

You can probably wear it with a yellow top (buttondown, shirt, sweater) with jeans, or anything white (dress, tunic). But I'd probably stay clear of wearing anything too v-neck (other than the buttondowns) with the necklace so as not to distract from the beauty of the necklace!

    ReplyDelete
  122. Oooh, I forgot...you can probably play up any old tanktop with this fab necklace too! 'Am so jealous of you (webbysuzy) and kater right now!

    ReplyDelete
  123. e&s mom: Okay, so I sould wear a solid color top as a good background for the necklace to lay upon.

I have to say, I am only 5'4" in height and the necklace is long and heavy (with all the glass beads). Something to wear on a social event, I think.

I bought the necklace when J Crew offered 20% Sale items back in June the 13th.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Vivian: I got the Cha Cha skirt in golden olive last night for $27 and love it! I would definitely say it is very true to size - nice and fitted the way that a pencil skirt should be! :) What color are you looking for?

    ReplyDelete
  125. Bodoni88: I gave them the number of FFM's store in Orlando: 407-226-9732. The CSR called the store to verify the price, and then applied the discount. It was about $45 - $59.99 less an additional 25%. Good luck - let us know if you get it!

    ReplyDelete
  126. it's.a.southern.thing: I want size 2 in the golden olive. It was available online this morning in sizes 2 and 8, but when I tried to put in into my cart, 2 disappeared! SOBBBB!!!

    ReplyDelete
  127. it's.a.southern.thing: Which store is this? How did it get to 27 bucks? i'm calling CS.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Hi Everyone! I am so sorry about not posting as often as I would like. (I am moving, so I am trying to both clean and pack things up.)

I haven't read through everyone's comments- but I will by this evening. :)

It's a southern thing: I wear both San Telmo jackets with a white tee underneath and wide leg dark jeans. I think it looks really nice that way. I also wear the jacket open (I find it looks better with a bit more swing to it). :) I really hope you like yours!!!

Kater: Great idea post about best/worst B&M stores- I will use it for tomorrow!

Heather C.: There was actually a post awhile back on the Love it or Leave it: City-fit Buttery Twill Trouser that you might be interested in. :)

    ReplyDelete
  129. Not to change the subject, but has anyone seen any Fiona jackets (size 8) in their store? I hate to randomly call different stores. I wish I knew which stores tended to get the bigger shipments. I emailed J Crew, but I don't expect to hear back from them.

    ReplyDelete
  130. ok, i'm trying not to complain about the website BUT, i don't know what the heck they're doing over there...i keep checking the Coppelle paisley Alessia blouse in the sale just to see if they are fixing anything...so they actually reduced the price to 19.99 (i think yesterday) but when you click on it, it's STILL $null (been $null for like a week now) and it's showing the full price...how/why did they do that....geeeez!

    ReplyDelete
  131. ccbmum, I just recently checked on that too; 'got the same thing. Plus, the printed Antonia linen dress in regular is on sale for $49.99 and in petite, $165! Are they marking down items arbitrarily now? (Or is it because there's more inventory in the petite of the dress?)

    ReplyDelete
  132. Michelle, thanks for the info, i tried to call the san telmo jacket in and they said i would have to use the red phone in the store. bummer.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Vivian and FFM:
I purchased Tulip jacket in flame appx month ago in store, I liked it the moment I tried it on ( was toattaly unexpected purchase). My outfit would be:
white tank top,Glitter-dot shorts and bold-link necklace ( similar to what model is wearing).

Vivian, I would keep Flame and Navy (or flax)- one bold color and one neutral.

FFM- your outfits sound awesome! I will try them too as I have Elizabeth halter in Navy and Yellow.
BTW,the halters I own are pure slk and have no pockets, all of the new ones are silk/cotton blend. I personally like the feel of pure silk better.

    ReplyDelete
  134. Bodoni88: I did it myself, and I know other posters have done it as well and CS honored the price. If you really want the San Telmo, I would call again. That's ridiculous!

    ReplyDelete
  135. Mekiki

You are absolutely right about that store in Princeton. They sold all kinds of catalogue discontinued items--J.Crew, Tweeds, etc., sometimes with labels cut out, sometimes not. It was in Chatham for a while and also on LBI. It was called the Gypsy Horse. I think they went out of business--at least they did in Chatham. I LOVED that store, and was very sorry to see it go.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Vivian, I would love to get the Flowy Jersey Bateau dress... which store did you find it at for that price?

    ReplyDelete
  137. The cha-cha skirt shows on the website (at least from my PC, it does) and CS can't see it from their end. No such skirt in their system and they can't see it on the website either. Am I spooked or what????

    ReplyDelete
  138. Pardon my ignorance, but is there any way to use both the 20% and free shipping codes simultaneously? It seems to only take one at a time, and if I add another - it will only use the one that I most recently entered. Any help or advice is appreciated!!!

    ReplyDelete
  139. anon@3.32: I ordered it over the phone last week. I can't remember which store had that price. I saw someone posting about the dress selling for $44 in stores and 25% off. With my teacher's discount, it's $28. Free shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  140. Vivian, yes but don't they need to verify which store had it for that price?

Unfortunately you can't use two codes- online or on the phone.

    ReplyDelete
  141. Vivian: In my store the bateau dress was $59.99 less 25% to make it $44. Did you give the CSR any additional info, or did you just tell her it was $44 less 25%?

    ReplyDelete
  142. Slastena: Thanks for the advice! You're right - better stick with the neutrals!

    ReplyDelete
  143. Michelle and anon: It was half price, that's why it was $44 to begin with.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Vivian: I snagged the very last cha cha skirt in golden olive from my local b&m store last night! Don't worry, it wasn't your size. ;) I know they had a couple of in the khaki color if you are interested. The phone number is 434.975.2889. Also a couple of weekends ago, I was in another store about an hour away, and they had a few there in the golden olive. Granted it was a few weeks ago, but you could always try there. The phone number is 804.364.9561. It was $39.99 + 25% off, and then I think they assumed I was a student and gave me the student discount (10%) on top of that. Voila $27! :)

Alexis: Thanks for the tip of wearing the San Telmo open. I didn't end up getting it last night because I couldn't decide how to wear it (buttoned vs. unbuttoned) but wonder if I should try it on again. Or maybe it is time to accept that it isn't as cute on me as everyone else... *sigh* ;)

    ReplyDelete
  145. Does anyone own the Sea Glass Piper Tank? Has anyone tried it on? Does it fit the same as the other Piper tanks? How does the fit compare to some of J. Crew's other items?

    Thanks in advance!

    ReplyDelete
  146. Does anyone have any thoughts or comments on the Candace Jacket? I am eying it in orange.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I must be living on another planet....b/c I had no clue that one could call a store and have them ship out items at sale price.

Is this standard JCrew policy? Or are we relying on the kindness of the person who answers at the store?

Also, is there anything we have to mention to get this service when we call stores?

    Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  148. it's.a.southern.thing: Tks for the info! That store's out of the skirt too. I'll get CS to do a search for me.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Just got told from CS that anything that ships from a retail store shouldn't charge shipping! She's a supervisor and is very sure of that policy. How wierd is that? I paid shipping when I ordered my Flame Tulip and black san telmo jackets from stores.

    ReplyDelete
  150. Vivian: I'm so sorry! It was worth a shot though!

    ReplyDelete
  151. Bodoni88: I have the Candace jacket in Blue. I went down a size to XS. I wear it with the Denim pencil skirt and the orange floral beaded slub tee. I've received alot of compliments on it.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Stephanie: I have the solid Piper tank in navy, and I sized down for it. I therefore ordered the Sea Glass Piper tank in a size smaller than I normally would as well. When other posters tried a size smaller, though, some of them felt they didn't have enough room in the arm holes. I will post when I actually receive the Sea Glass ... it should have been here yesterday :P

    ReplyDelete
  153. Eddie & Stretch's Momma: i think that things are just reeeaaaallly messed up! :)

    ReplyDelete
  154. thanks anonymous, thats where i worry, because a lot of the size 0 and extra small stuff is big on me. i guess i will just have to find a store that has it so i can try it on.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Although their website is up and running I think they still have many "kinks" to work out. I was perusing the sale page and when I clicked on some of the items, there was no price, colors or sizes listed for the item or when I clicked on a bathing suite top, it brought me to the bathing suit bottom.....this is very frustrating from a customers standpoint and have to assume they are losing a lot of money in sales?!

    ReplyDelete
  156. vivian: with the amelia tank I actually sized up from what I normally wear the J.Crew camis in...I purchased a 4, but will have to alter the straps, as they are way too long. I tried on the 0 in the store and it was actually too tight in the bust...they did not have a 2 for me to try, but the 4 fits IF I take up the straps, which won't be hard to do...I was hesitant to purchase the 2 off of Final Sale, since it could also still be too snug in the bust. I hope this helps...I normally wear a 0 or 2 in sleeveless, and in the Amelia I sized up to the 4. :)

I have purchased from a store over the phone 2 times, and have been required to pay shipping charges on both instances. I was also told that the FreeShipping Coupon doesn't apply to phone purchases that are made direct from a store, so the free shipping is new to me...is it new policy? When I ordered my Tulip on Monday, the associate was very adament that he could not give me Free Shipping.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Thanks Slastena! I really love Navy, Bright Flame (Orange), and White together...especially with Gold Jewelry. :)

    ReplyDelete
  158. bodoni88: in regards to the San Telmo...call CS to place the order, and tell them that it is selling in the stores for $59.99 + 25% addt'l. off, and you would like to get that price. The Orlando store had one left, so ask the rep to call them to verify the price...407-226-9732. Good Luck! Let us know what happens!

    ReplyDelete
  159. I have the Amelia tank. I bought my usual JCrew size 8. FIts great! I emailed and got the bust measurement on the garment which is 36" before I bought. Usually it is one inch small in a 6 and one inch larger in a 10. You could figure accordingly then to your size would be my guess.

    ReplyDelete
  160. Anonymous at 12:28 PM: Vent all you want. You have every right to be upset as you do. Your situation sounds awful. :( Hopefully your items will come quickly. :)

Kellyanne311: I am not sure if someone else answered your question, but there was a post about the new website's new order status: Order Status: Open versus Submitted. Hopefully it helps out a bit. :)

It's a southern thing: Maybe you can have the jacket placed on hold for you and you can think about it some more. If you can get if for $40-50, I would. I am sure it would look great on you! ;)

Vivian: Much like FabulousFloridaMommy, the J.Crew stores I called (as recently as July 4th) to mail me items made it a point to tell me that shipping charges were included (and not waived with free shipping codes.) I really hope that what the reps have told you and MommaDoli are true though, I would love to order items through the stores and have the shipping waived!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  161. I just spoke to a cs rep, she was very good. I wanted a price adjustment on the argyle sweater vest in newport blue. I bought it on July 1st for $39.99 and yesterday it was marked down to $19.99, she did the credit and thanked me for my patience. The computer system was running very slow on her end. She couldn't comment as to when it would be resolved, but said hopefully soon.

    How long is soon?

    ReplyDelete
  162. I noticed there are not too many of the sea glass piper tanks left....so glad I ordered mine at $99.00 as my size is long gone.

I also got the green and bright pink. Very excited.

I think a lot of people have been watching these tanks and have pounced with the free shipping and all.

    ReplyDelete
  163. Vivian--that's a fabulous price! I was bummed because the manager checked me out and wouldn't even give me my educator's discount on top of the 25% off. In my experience sometimes they do, sometimes they don't...depends who checks you out. I'd be interested to know what the *actual* policy is.

BTW I did end up finding a cropped cami to make all of my lower cut knit dresses work appropriate.... Just an FYI if anyone is also interested in the same: It's supposedly very soft and light and stretchy like a regular cami (not like a typical heavy workout bra)

    http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=1907590120001&cid=41378

    ReplyDelete
  164. josie: I was just going to suggest trying the GAP...I knew I had seen something similar to that there before. I was also wondering if stitching the v-neck together at a higher point is possible? Then you wouldn't have to worry about a cami at all...just a thought. :)

    ReplyDelete
  165. Josie: thanks for the cami post! I just stumbled across JCrew's
    Stretch cotton camisole Item 71138
last night & they're out of my size in Wheat. I'm placing my order from the Gap now.

    ReplyDelete
  166. Alexis: What a smart and savvy idea! :) Do you happen to know how long the b&m stores will hold an item?

  167. The J. Crew at Tyson's II (The Galleria) re-opened today and Madewell is scheduled to open in Tyson's I in August.

  168. bodoni88: I tried on the Candace Jacket in my store in the Orange. It is very pretty on, and even looked great with the Navy Elizabeth Halter I had underneath it...it's very "Jackie O". I normally wear a Small and that is the size I would have purchased, but opted for the San Telmo, instead. It was on sale at my store for an addt'l 25% off, so if you do order it, call CS and ask to get the store price. The store is Orlando - 407-226-9732. Good Luck! Let us know what happens. :)

  169. Vent coming...my order from 12 days ago (that I got a shipment confirm) has still not arrive. The order I placed on Monday came Wed. w/ no shipment confirm email. ARGH!

Sorry if I complained about this before in another post. I'm just frustrated! CS assures me it is on its way.....

  170. such dilemma, i can't decide b/w the candace and the san telmo. the upside to the candace is that they have it in my store, so i could get it today. any thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  171. I'd say Candace. The black san telmo is cute but it's not the polka dot san telmo!

  172. You won't believe it! I just ordered the giraffe necklace! It showed up on the website today under 92689. I had to call CS because I couldn't place my order online but it seems like I got it. $99.99 minus 20% promo (orderd few other things) minus 10% student discount. I won't be certain until it arrives but... I hope I won't jinx it.

  173. I was wondering if anyone has seen the hippo safari charm necklace at any of the stores? I have been searching online and w/ stores in my area, but no luck!

  174. Rach,
I know it's a tiny detail, but the fact that the Gap one doesn't come down over your waist really makes a difference on how those knit dresses fit. Just that little extra layer underneath with a regular cami adds a bit of bulk that I don't want when I want my waist to look as thin as possible!

FFMommy, I did think about stitching them and went back and forth about it.... I decided against it because I must admit I like the option of having it low cut (dh always tells me how nice I look when I'm wearing one--I think he'd be crushed if I had them stitched up) :)

  175. Josie: yes, actually the Gap ones will work out better than what I was looking at anyway. Thanks a bunch for sharing. Just a bummer I missed the date for using my 25% off gap coupon. Oh well, I needed these anyway :)

  176. congrats sky! I'm so glad you got the necklace. Maybe it was one of the ones the stores told me they had sent back. e&smomma - maybe given sky's success you should call cs?

webbysuzy & e&smomma: I have so many ideas on how to wear it, I can't even contain myself! My first is a direct rip from the website (see the chambray oxford two button jacket that is still online with the lovely "null" listing) - black suit with gray favorite tank and the necklace. My other idea is white elizabeth halter under a light blue cashmere tee (if the frickin thing ever comes) with the belle skirt in dark fog.

However, I love this necklace so much I very well might just wear it with my pajamas!

  178. Hi. I haven't ordered anything in J.Crew petite in years (since I haven't ordered much but kids stuff lately). Should you size up from your missy (regular) size?
I'm looking at the Keaton pants in petite.

    ReplyDelete
  179. mekiki: According to the J.Crew sizing guide you should order one size up from your missy size when purchasing a petite...for example: 0=2P or 12=14P. :)

  180. Another something I would love to find. The favorite fit cropped in soft fuschia in a size 6. They're gone online and in my store. (Yes, I only have 1 store in my area.:)) Anyway, if any of you are out and see them, please let me know so I can call the store. Thanks!
Btw, my Charleston, SC, store had one polka dot skirt left but I'm not sure of the size. (843) 534-1640

I have another question, some have mentioned asking cs to search for a sale item. Are you using a store cs? I didn't think corporate cs would search for sale items. Am I wrong or did I misunderstand?

    ReplyDelete
  181. math teacher: Try the Orlando store...they had lots of crop pants and in the fuschia color, too...not sure if they are what you want, but it might be worth a try. Orlando: 407-226-9732

My store is doing a search for me on the Fiona Jacket, even though it is on sale. Corporate CS usually doesn't do that one sale items...it is probably up to the individual store as to whether they will do it or not. :)

    ReplyDelete
  182. That should say "on sale items" not one sale items...sorry!

    ReplyDelete
  183. It's a southern thing: Most stores will hold an item for 24 hours. I am sure if you needed more time, they could hold it for longer. :)

Pink1: Vent all you want here! :) You have every right to be upset with an order from 12 days AGO!! That really is awful. I hope you get your items (and soon!)

Bodoni88: My vote is for the San Telmo. :) But you should get whichever you really like the most. :)

    ReplyDelete
  184. Thanks, ffm. I will give your store a call. I also call my store and see if they'll search for a fiona jacket for me. The worst they can tell me is no, right? :)

    ReplyDelete
  185. Thanks FFM, I guess I was too lazy to look it up myself. Do you think JC pants tend to run big, small, or true? my stomach is the problem area (even more so since having another baby, but was at the doctor today and lost a pound). I'm probably a 4 or 6. I have slim hips, but a fat tummy.
    Thanks for all input!

  186. ok - so I'm bored and don't want to keep working, and started entering random terms into the search function of the j.crew website. All sorts of stuff comes up that isn't listed anywhere else on the site! The Porta jacket in pale almond, the polka dot bow skirt in the pink color, etc. Has anyone else run across this? Obviously, the sale section still has TONS of bugs that this stuff is technically on the website, but isn't listed anywhere.

Another find - the oslo bag in the burnished yellow color. I soooo want this bag, but it's still too expensive, even on sale. If anyone else wants it, you can find it in the "catalog/j.crew.com exclusives" section. It doesn't come up anywhere else.

too bad the polka dot san telmo didn't turn up!

  187. God bless this website. I love it, yay!

    ReplyDelete
  188. mekiki: No problem...the site is down now, so you couldn't look it up anyways...I know alot of other ladies order petites on here, but I do not...it seems though that the norm is to order one size up than the missy, and that is also what I have read on the website to do, as well. I have the opposite problem from you...a small waist, but my hip/thigh area is my pet peeve...they aren't large, but are muscular, and I have to buy pants to fit that area, and then tailor the waist to get the proper fit. I usually buy 4 in pants, and they are a little too big in the waist, but fit in the thighs. I'm not sure how it would work with the opposite issue...have you ever tried a pair? Maybe you could order a non Final Sale pair of pants to find the right fit if you are not near a store?

    ReplyDelete
  189. I am actually near a few stores. It's a good idea for me to try on some pants. It will keep me from making impulse buys today just because things are cheap. Thanks again.

    ReplyDelete
  190. mekiki: The pants are actually less expensive in the stores that have the addtional 25% off right now, than they are online. I picked up 3 pair of the Fave Fit Everyday Chinos for $12.74 each a couple of weeks ago, but that was also with my 15% educator discount on top of the sale price and 25% off...it's worth a try even if you don't get the extra 15%. :)

  191. Okay, I found a fiona jacket in the papaya in my size. They are holding it for me because I thought I'd call a few other stores to see if I could find it in the khaki. Any of you have an opinion on this color? Is it worth it to go ahead and take this color instead of continuing to call on the off chance that I find a khaki one?

Btw, the cs suggested I try stores in smaller cities in cold weather states in case anyone else is looking for one and plans to call.

  193. That is cheap! I'm not a teacher (seems like everyone here is a teacher!), but I will check out some stores. Wouldn't they all have the additional 25%?

I am in central NJ, so there is no shortage of J.Crews here. Your mall is beautiful, by the way. (We go to Fl. once a year or so.)

    ReplyDelete
  194. Does anyone have the Linen ruffle v-neck tank and can attest to the fit?

    ReplyDelete
  195. I think the fiona in khaki is so much more versatile & you'll wear it more often. The papaya won't work for winter/fall, I think. So unless the papaya is darn cheap, I would prefer the khaki...just my two cents!

  196. That's a good idea Kater (random searching). I was trying to pull up the Boating dress, but no luck.
