Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER & FALL sale, or to see some new FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I might go this weekend, although it's 45 minutes away... I have to return the awful stripe double serge pencil skirt that I ordered as a ride along to get free shipping. WAY too short to wear to work and I generally don't wear wool pencil skirts casually.

  2. Not planning to go, but if someone hears there will be a % off sale in stores, please post!

  3. 20% off promo on outerwear still going on in Soho NYC store (as of my visit Thursday night)

  4. not going, just want to hear what the JCAs find :)

  5. Got to return the stadium pea coat I ordered that I just don't like as much now and is way too big and return an Alexie sweater because it is too big. What is with the vanity sizing this season?

  6. Am stopping by this am to pick up 2 boyshirts I have on hold for my daughter (getting started on birthday and Cristmas shopping!). The Barton Creek Mall store is having an event to see one of the personal shoppers holiday picks....when I got the invitation, I RSVPd/emailed and asked if they had the two tops I was interested in and my SA promptly replied that she would hold them for me . We have the American Cancer Society Holiday Shopping card down here in Texas and with the $50 purchase of the card(proceeds going to ACS) you receive a 20% off discount at about 100 stores in the Austin area including JC today through November 7. I know other cities have this opportunity as my Mom is using hers in Houston stores so check it out if they have the American Cancer Society Holiday Shopping card in your area!So I got great customer service and I will get my 20% discount AND I got my rewards/holiday card in the mail yesterday! Woohoo!

Am also making a big purchase at Pottery Barn with the card and plan to check out Anthropologie and Madewell for gifts, as well. The card even includes places like Gap! Ann Taylor/Loft have a similar card that can be used at their family of stores that benefits Breast Cancer Research....buy the $25 card (proceeds go to Komen) and you receive 20% off your purchase of $100 or more (%25 with a LOFT AT card) and card can be used multiple times as long as you spend $100 through Nov. 15!

I love these deals where you are doing some good and saving $!Sorry to run on so long but both are worthwhile shopping ventures! Have a great weekend!

  7. No trip for me. It is Halloween weekend. Two parites to go to:)

    My word verification is undersa--
makes me think I should not be influenced by any SA's this weekend!

  8. Planning to stop by this morning. Will report if there are any sales.

  9. I popped in last night...it was very sparse. None of the mini rollout was on the floor, I wanted to see the Drapey Tee in person. I did get the Drapey Sequin Tank in the Olive Moss, its pretty.

Overall in and out in 5 minutes...

  10. I'm undecided... may go to 'visit' the boulevard trench at my B&M.

Oh yeah, and the "sold out" cashmere cowlneck is back online in all colors/sizes.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Completely off topic.

Have a look a Boden's. Reminds me of early days. Brings a tear to my eye. ;-)

  12. I went two days ago to the Rock Center store. The lumiere cardigan is $29.99 and the Cecelia cami is $19.99. The price marked isn't always the current one, so bring to the register or have the sa do a price check. The cowlneck tee (still fp on the website the last time I checked) is now $9.99! If you are a large or extra-large they have still some in black and blush stone. They had plenty of the brocade top ($79.99). HTH!
I might pop in the Collection store to see if they have received the sequin tee (the RC store didn't have it).

    ReplyDelete
  13. @ the cowlnecks now being available in all colors sizes - *snicker* Why not just say on the website or in that sale promo that that sweater is excluded from the promo? We're not dumb. I will say that that sweater is gorgeous. I'm really thinking about it in the blue color.

  14. I went yesterday...posted some coat -- colletta & dollop -- and sale reviews and pics
    here

I think I'll skip going there this weekend. I might instead pop into Talbots.

  15. Em- I sorry you did not like the stripe double surge skirt. I love mine, I think it's fabulous. I am short and wore mine with tights, so it did not come ridiculously high up, but was still work appropriate. I have pics here if anyone's debating.

  17. I also love the striped serge skirt. I am 5'4" and it hits at my knee. It looks great with tights, but I can wear it with bare legs also, even with my conservative job.

I wore it this week with my slate checked skirt and an argyle cardi.

  18. OT, but I have been trying to find some new pencil skirts and was underwhelmed my the fit and quality of the double serges from J Crew this year. They just weren't as nice as the last two year's versions and I wanted some different colors.

I ordered the double faced wool skirt in the red rosette from Talbots, and am completely in love. I love the fit, color, fabric and it is very nicely made.

I ordered an 8P and the fit is the same as my size 6 serge skirts from last year and about 1 inch shorter (22").

    The loganberry is on order.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I'm undecided whether to go this weekend or next week. This 30 day return policy is just darn too short when my closest store is 20 miles away one trip.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Has anyone tried the boutonniere blazer?
I am debating adding this to my rotation but since I can't try it on in person I'm wondering about the fit.

    TIA!

  21. OT but I am wondering when J Crew will have their Spring 2011 preview? Talbots and Gap already have theirs out on style.com. There are some cool pieces in these previews. That also shows how other stores are not copying JC just following the runways. I really like the newest Hermes collection. Not really makes me think of spring but maybe that's why I like it now. But just the simple clean lines are so refreshing. If you like color and sparkle, check the Louis_Vuitton. Of course I cannot afford any of that but it's an eye candy.
I really hope JC will come up with some interesting inspirations...

  23. ajc,

Thank you so much for a direct link to the Talbots preview. That was so fun to look at just now:) The bright blue coat is to die for and I love the denim look on page 10 of the slideshow!

    ReplyDelete
  24. since shopwithm and ajc have both mentioned Talbots already I feel it is 'safe' to mention again (hopefully). The mail lady just delievered my Talbots order from the 40% off and free ship promo that they had for a few house recently:) LOVE that promo. I tore open the package and LOVE all 4 items I got. I am so happy with the quality--esp. the cashmere ruffle scarf. It was out of my price range at full price but 40% off and free ship put it within reach and it is mine now:) It is a gorgeous purple heather color.

  25. Re: talbots, I have a tweed sheath dress coming from them tomorrow. I am still leery of shopping there so we will see how it fits. I had ordered 2 prs of shoes from them and they ran so narrow and the leather was so still and painful they went right back. I didn't really like much in their spring preview other than that floral pencil skirt.

Re: Boden, I agree that their stuff is very reminiscent of old JC. The old pics Alexis posted a few days ago made me think right away of boden of today. However, when I look at their stuff, I am not super motivated to buy. They sent me a 20% off free ship and free returns coupon that I haven't used.

Re: the JC cashmere cowlneck, yes quite interesting that it was all "sold out" yesterday. I do like the style and the buttons on the side are super cute, but none of the colors are appealing to me. Also, $228 is pretty high; I usually wait to buy all my cashmere at end of season at deep, deep discounts. Most of the cashmere sweaters I have I have gotten in the $25-$80 range.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I just bought two pairs of shoes from Talbots and they fit great; came yesterday in the mail. I have a narrow foot that is very hard to fit and been wearing them around the house just fine today.

I also received a silk scarf from them. Wow. No one else out there can compare to Talbots silk for the price. Amazing quality.

I bought a JCrew silk scarf recently. It is very nice but the silk is different in texture and feel than Talbots. Not nec. bad just different and interesting to compare the two...

  27. Thanks for the Talbot's link. I like the ivory lace pencil skirt and the bell shaped copper and chambray skirts. Unlike some of the most recent JC offerings, I could wear those to the office. I really think they could do a better job with their prints. To me, they always look dated or like the color scheme is just a little off.

  28. Sort of OT: Fashionista covers J Crew's holiday collection launch. From the looks of it, there are A LOT of sequins. Brace for impact!

I'll be going to check out local B&Ms for the long Benny blazer. Seriously ridiculous that it's $168 on the website and $39.99 at the stores.

    ReplyDelete
  29. CarnivoreGirl,

Thanks for the link. Fun to read the article and see the photos.

I like a few sequins myself--with FEW being key--however, I just keep thinking each decade has its own fashion nightmare/joke/mistake (whatever) to define it. Won't the overdone sequins and wearing them for daytime be a joke in photos in years to come????

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't see anything new in the holiday preview.
Summer, I can totally see myself, or my daughter, looking at the sequined look pictures 10 years from now and having an 'oh no, you didn't' moment.
    Louboutins at J Crew? Com'on.
The heels are way too high for my lifestyle but if I was ever shopping for Louboutins I would go somewhere else where I would get better customer service and more choices.

  31. In reference to another post, I am also noticing certain items disappearing from the website, that were on there yesterday. Specifically, the Walker tall boots and the glisten grasp necklace. Both are gone off the website- I know they didn't sell out that fast, even though they did go on sale Wednesday... Makes me wonder if they're up to the usual games- playing hide and seek with merchandise ahead of a sale promo? Seriously, *sigh*.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Count me in the striped serge pencil skirt, one of my favorite offerings this season. I think height is pretty key, I'm 5'4 as well.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Does anyone know when the "holiday" group is set to be released?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Stopped by my B&M to return something and ended up leaving with 2 pairs of shoes! The stardip ballet flats were on sale for $69.99 as well as another pair of jacquard metallic flats (super comfy with a tory burch-like sole). They also had those striped tanks with clear sequins on the stripes on sale for $49.99, I think they were still full price on the website a few days ago.

    ReplyDelete
  35. jbird,

As a long time JCrew fan and lover these disappearing and reappearing items has been an issue for several YEARS. I have been following and noticing it and discussing it with online PS. No one has a clue why it happens but be patient and stalk any much wanted item. It should reappear. Mine wanted items ALWAYS have esp. when they are new or there was plenty in stock and there is a new release. Seems to happen like clock work--I can almost time it. Seriously, weird, JCrew. I am sorry but what other site does this????

    ReplyDelete
  36. ajc, thanks for the links. I like several of the Talbot's items. I hope they translate on my body. :)

I think the holiday collection at JC is already out. I do like the sequin tank over the button-up. I had only thought about wearing it under a cardi or jacket. I like sequins/sparkles and will continue to wear them for that reason.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Went to make some returns and ended up home with two pairs of shoes - Catena flats ($69) and Kerrington in Metallic Siena ($49). These are all priced higher online. Lots of other stuff were marked down twice, but I didn't find anything I wanted.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I just had a peak at the Holiday offerings.I know this sounds like a broken record but what is with the skirt lengths???? AHHHHHHHHHH. 1. Not all of us have legs that are accomodating to those lengths, nor are we the age wear we would wear those lengths is we could!. 2. What about those of us that live in colder climates....we would FREEZE day or night with skirts like that. That seems to be the ONLY option the crew is offering. Sorry for the rant but I keep hoping they would mix it up, but the lengths just seem to be getting shorter!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I was at the B&M today. 20% off outwear still going.

    $20 off minnie pants.

$10 off all necklaces (that are not in the display cases)

They have several new colors of the montreaux cardigan, inluding black, honey/bronzed orchre, lilac, very light grey.

  40. I was invited to a Halloween shopping event at my local J. Crew this weekend, 2 hours before the store opens to the public. Not sure if there will be sales or candy or whatever, but hope its worth my while.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yeah... I am 5'10". And it just looks weird... like a mini skirt trying to be a pencil skirt. Do not like. But I can see how it'd work for you 5'4" ladies! I have almost every color of the regular wool double serge pencil skirt so I really wanted the striped one to work.

    ReplyDelete
  42. kitsmommy, I've always thought that about Talbot's prints, too! Glad I'm not the only one. I want to love them but... it's always just off.

    ReplyDelete
  43. New arrivals are on 11/10. Maybe 11/9 for some stores. The merino boyfriend sweater is $39.99. I saw the infinity cardigan in heather graphite, black and wild plum (not on website) for $59.99. Not 100% sure on prices. You can see the infinity in wild plum in this post. 2nd set of pics.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I tried on the trouper pant this morning and love it. But, $95? What's up with that? That seems really high for a pair of chino pants? Granted, they're great, but that's too high for me. I tried on the sequin tank again today and I'm still loving it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a tee promo soon. :)

My ps said that they get a bonus when they hit big $ amounts. If they don't make their personal amount, then they can have their hourly wage reduced. He said that doesn't happen very often, though. And, they start at $0 each January.

Also, new line will be out on the 10th in my b&m.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Does anyone have the Tie front cardigan? I have been eyeing it and I would love a review from another jca!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. At my store outerwear was still 20% off but I didn't see any signs noting that. Also, sherpa hoodies were 49 dollars instead of 69 so I totally bit!

I finally got to see the stadium elements coat and I LOVE IT. I got it in a 0, which is my usual size, and it definitely runs about a full size big. I still liked it and it is exactly what I was looking for so I bought it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Found some new things at my b&m yesterday (not yet available online) and bought them on first sight!

Boucle zip crewneck sweater (style #33558)- soft wool/acrylic/alpaca blend in a camel color (code is DNA) - $98.00

Vintage cotton Amour tank (style #33578)- tiers with tiny beading in a peachy-beige color - $64.00

Pamella strung pearl necklace - different size pearls/long necklace in peachy-beige color - $35.00 with $10.00 off, even though brand new

Essie nailpolish in Mucho Dinero - beigy color - $8.00

Saw a gorgeous Jackie cardigan in new color Apricot Mist.

  48. OK, I just got the Stadium cloth elements coat (last sunday) and I have worn it 3 times and it is already pilling. I have never gotten a J. Crew coat before, but my old wool coat is 6 or 7 years old, and no pilling yet. I think I will return it, but does it sound like a defective item, or it this what I can expect from their coats?
    Thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I second the request for tie-front cardi feedback! I love the heather sandalwood color and this is one of the RARE sweaters this year with no synthetic content!!! TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hi Kate - IMO, yes it sounds defective, but also yes, that's probably what you could expect from their coats now given the overall decline in quality. I have a handful of wool JC coats (no stadium-cloth though, so maybe another JCA could speak to that) from 05-08 and they have not pilled.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I forgot to mention that I saw a couple of new items including a black sequin jacket. My ps didn't like it and said he wished they'd gotten the tee instead. Of course, it could show up in the next roll out. I also saw the amour tank and it also comes in gray. It's very pretty, but the peachy-pink is a terrible color for me and I already have 3 gray tanks/camis. I tried on the falling beads cami and it was terrible. Too tight under the arms and way too big around the waist. It's a-line even though the online pic doesn't show that. It looked like a maternity top. The beading is really pretty, though.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Benny blazer is now $39.97 plus 20% off at factory b&ms. The had tons of sizes in both colors.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hi Em - was that Waterloo that had the Benny blazers?

    ReplyDelete
  54. kate, my stadium cloth coats from 2008/09 have zero pilling and I've worn them a lot.

I haven't worn my 2010 stadium cloth peacoat yet. As soon as I got it the weather warmed up. I sure hope it doesn't pill. I had to stalk the nordic blue for so long, it will be a major disappointment if it's a pilly mess after a few wears.

    ReplyDelete
  55. math teacher - I love your PS. Yes, the new sequin open jacket/shirt is meh. New items 11/10 or 11/11. Hopefully the tee will be in stock. I'm curious to try it.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I got the pamella necklace too. I got it in color code GY (grey? graphite?)

I like that it has a clasp, that way you can double it up if you want to wear it short, since it's not long enough to loop over my big ol' head.

P.S. 25% off online. No free shipping though. Will continue to hold out.

Unless someone can tell me this, if there is something that I want, but it is available in store, can I still go to the store and order it from the red phone? and get free shipping? and use this new code?
