"Looking to LOVE" with J.Crew

Preface: A big "thanks!" to Ibi who suggested weekly 'Looking to LOVE' and 'Looking to HATE' posts where we could all "deposit" our best & worst current experiences. I think it is a brilliant idea and will try it out for a few weeks. Hopefully this will help out our fellow JCAs! :)

This is the weekly "Looking to LOVE with J.Crew" post, a place to share our favorite experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a positive situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including stellar experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. The website now says 20% off outerwear, prices as marked, through Sunday. Might make the cardholder discount more worth it for some, since it's not a code. Still no shipping though, it looks like. When I just looked, the prices hadn't been updated yet.

  2. I saw that, too! 2 hours later and prices still not updated.

  6. Speaking of love, I know everyone loved the velvet Bella. Could you guide me on fit (ie tts, size up, down, etc.) and also if any larger busted gals love it despite the yoke in front.

I've searched and seen posts about the tweed (size down) but not sure on the velvet.

    Thanks!!

  7. So far, I'm loving the JCrew "priority" phone line. I recently called because I added the wrong bracelet to my order and instead of having to cancel the ENTIRE order and reorder everything (like i had to before) this nice CSR took care of everything and ordered the new bracelet with no trouble at all. Some CSR's really deserve a pat on the back!

  8. I ended up placing a big order of final sale items last week on Wednesday - thought about holding off in case of a % off code, but didn't because I knew everything would disappear as soon as one came out, and the customer service rep I asked over chat said she wasn't aware of any coming up. Anyway, when the 30% off code came out on Friday, I called and asked VERY nicely if they would apply it to my order, and they did, no questions asked, and I was ecstatic. Saved $180!!

  9. I am very happy with my ps. He is a great guy and is honest about how items look on me. :) He is going out of town this weekend (which is the only time I can get to my b&m), but I called him today and he pulled items for me to try on. If I'm waiting for something to go on sale and it does, he pulls it for me. We've also become friends. He's a former teacher, so we can always talk education and we both are Disney fans! We'll actually be there within days of each other. I think it would be fun to be there during the same time and have dinner and ride a few rides together. I wish all of you could have as good a ps as I do! :)

  10. Wore my jaipur paisley? perfect shirt today, LOVE IT. feel obsessive about the colors and pattern, i think i could wear it every single day. got the calista cami in the mail, cute, someone loose around the middle but i couldn't go smaller or i would not be able to get it over my head. makes my b/c b**bs look huge, not something i like. will have to waist belt it.but for 21 dollars, a nice layer for work. still trying to figure out what to wear over camis that isn't a knit-type cardigan but also not overly dressy like a blazer. tried on the bootcut cords i bought last weekend in a 29 and found out the snickers halloween candy that i haven't been able to resist is making them quite uncomfortable.

  11. Generation Kvetch: The velvet bella's run TTS, as I wear usually a size 0 and it fit fine. The shoulders may be a smidge snug, but other than that the jacket is very chic :)I have a small bust, so sizing up would probably be best for you as you mentioned you have a bigger bust. HTH!

  12. Slightly off topic, but does anyone have a secret for keeping certain collars on the silk or silk/cotton camis stiff, so that the look on the model can be imitated? I am thinking of the confetti ruffle cami, pilar paisley cami, and the calista cami. The necks are cute, but still not like J Crew is able to pull off in the model pics. I am generally set against ironing, I hate it, any other ideas?

  13. I love the lace tee in black and the drapey sequin tank.

The lace tee looks great with a pair of black minnie pants or light wash jeans. The drapey sequin in olive looks great with chocolate brown.

  14. Generation Kvetch, I am a tad busty and I love my Bellas - I have a velvet and a wool. My only complaint is that my "normal" 4 is a bit strained if I button it. Since I never wear it that way, I'm not concerned, but fyi. I remember thinking the 6 was too big. HTH - it is a **fabulous** jacket. I just wish I had kept more colors. :)

  15. I love my 3 sequin/silk sashes I bought tonight. $5 cheaper in store than online.

  16. CharlotteSometimes:
I heard one of the girls at the store talking about how she hand-washes the silk ruffle tees and then hangs them upside down until she wears them. Maybe stick some starch on it while its upside down?

I just went to the St. Louis Frontenac bandm and dropped way too much money. I got the downtown skinny (This is amazing for people who are fed up with the matchstick's recent baggy fit). They fit a lot like the matchstick but a lot more slim through from about the midthigh down. The SA said they had been selling really well, so they might come out with more washes than the single one they have at the moment.

I also picked up the Bateau tee in navy stripe and the toothpick twill pants in forest green for like, 20 bucks. I love them all.

Anyway, I just went to the STL frontenac j. crew and spent way too much money. I got the downtown skinny jeans. They're perfect for people who are fed up with the increasingly baggy fit of the matchsticks. They fit just like the matcsticks through about the middle of the thigh, then they're really slim all the way down. They look amazing and the girl helping me said they have been selling really well, so I hope they come out with more washes than the single one they have now.

I also got the toothpick pants in forest green and the navy striped bateau tee on super-sale. The pants were like, 25 bucks!

  18. I did a pre-order for the mens' Utility fleece pocket cardigan $98.00 item 31364 with my PS. The cardigan arrived on Friday, it's a great fit, not sloppy or baggy, and not quite fitted, just something in between.

After washing it I noticed a small tear where the body meets the nect band. An email later and she sending a new one as a replacement and she's covering my costs to return it.

I'm looking forward to getting it as it's a great weekend/casual piece. I'll wear it with jeans or cords; it may even show-up at work with a shirt and tie and wool pants.
