Also, several swimsuits were listed as being on sale for 29.99, but once they were in my cart, went back to regular price of 88.00. Really, really frustrating. Didn't buy a thing.kpp56https://www.blogger.com/profile/00635061638504426884noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1317882250647868056.post-57828529094148236762012-01-09T10:55:28.089-05:002012-01-09T10:55:28.089-05:00I recently bought the Metro coat in black, partly ...I recently bought the Metro coat in black, partly because it was available at a very good sale price. Before I bought, I queried J Crew about length. The description said "knee-length," but the photos suggested that the hem fell a few inches above the knee. I needed a mid-knee-length coat, to cover my knee-length skirts and dresses. I'm only 5'6", but I wondered whether I should buy a "tall" and have it shortened if necessary.

The J Crew representative who responded to me claimed that the model was 6' tall, so naturally the coat was short on her, and I should buy a regular length.

I should have obeyed my instincts. The coat just BARELY hits the very top of my knee and is too short to wear with most of my skirts and dresses.

Other problems: the photos and the description suggest that the coat is very slimly cut. Instead, the lower portion has a virtually A-line silhouette. Very disappointing, since I was looking for the sleeker, chicer, slimmer line implied by the photo. On the other hand, the shoulders and sleeves ARE very narrowly cut, so the coat can't really be comfortably worn over bulky winter sweaters or blazers/suit jackets. Finally, the pockets should be set lower and at a slant, designed so you can actually use them.

I'm keeping the coat because the price was so good and because it will make a fine casual coat to be worn over jeans and other pants. However, I won't be able to use it for the purpose I had in mind.Lilihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11901979021657912395noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1317882250647868056.post-38795552977430267132012-01-07T01:17:16.488-05:002012-01-07T01:17:16.488-05:00Missed my price adjustment window by under 10 minu...Missed my price adjustment window by under 10 minutes(that's east coast time, I had 2 hours and 50 minutes in my timezone) and they won't give me the adjustment! If there's a promo I love to take advantage of a discount but I'm not much of a sale shopper. I don't have real proof, since I'm not a big sale shopper, but I do believe I spend less overall by purchasing the few really great things I want at full price and ignoring the sales on things that are just mediocre.

I will say that there are fewer and fewer items that are worth the full price but for those I have bought at FP and kept, I have no regrets.xoxohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12336645422459479330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1317882250647868056.post-17326741962841252592012-01-06T16:25:59.983-05:002012-01-06T16:25:59.983-05:00Jruby18:

In all other ways, they look identical to the retail version. Made of real suede, and no two diamonds or anything to tell them apart. So I had to order and pay for another pair in the size I needed. Today the new size arrived and they are about 3 shades lighter, and instead of the pretty gold lining my originals had, they are nude. The shoe and style/item number are the EXACT same. When I called JC the rep told me to take them to the store so they can tell me what's wrong. She also assured me that ordering another pair wouldn't guarantee that I would get the same color as the original pair that was ordered. There are scratches on them, they're scuffed, and the leather is wrinkled. The worst part is that this is the second time that I've ordered these boots - the first pair I got was way too narrow on the right foot. Well, guess what - so is the second pair! And, judging from the condition (and the fact that I had to wait two months to get this pair) I actually think this is the very same pair. Someone else probably returned them for the same reason.

I called JCrew right away and it turns out they are sold out of the Booker boot in black 6.5 now! I love the print, BUT after trying it I noticed that JC took yet another cost cutting measure by using smaller panels of silk to create the dress rather than 2 single pieces of silk to run from the neckline to the hem. They tried to hide it by sewing "kangaroo" pockets in the front, but the pattern disruption is so annoying, especially in the back. It's like they made a mini skirt and sewed it to the top as a last minute thought and said "oh, this is how we'll charge $188 and make a bigger profit by using small pieces of fabric." Prior year tunic dresses like this were not done like this.

I'm torn, the only other silk item I saw in this pattern is the silk skirt which doesn't appeal to me.

Well, I can cancel my waitlisted order for the wildcat Jules dress now.
