Another Flash Sale at J.Crew Factory {31% off everything & free shipping!}

"Thanks!" to  many of you, including GigisGoneShopping (in this post), who shared the following email & promotion from J.Crew.

J.Crew Factory is offering 31% off and free shipping with promotional code CANDYPLS. This offer expires today at 11:59PM EST. The fine print includes:
**Offer valid on purchases made at jcrewfactory.com on October 31, 2014, 12:01am ET through 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in J.Crew or J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrew.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. To redeem, enter code CANDYPLS in the promo code box at checkout. Free shipping valid on orders shipping to the continental U.S. and U.S. P.O. Boxes via economy shipping (6 to 8 business days) and to Canada via standard shipping (4 to 7 business days). Return requests must be made in accordance with our return policy. Limit one promotional code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
First and foremost, this is a great promotion. Worth noting that the prices for some items went up since the Factory First promotion. However, with the additional percent off, many items are actually cheaper than two days ago.

Honestly, J.Crew Factory has so much elasticity in the prices that it really turns me off. I feel like, why bother.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

Happy Halloween! {are you celebrating with J.Crew?}

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!!

I love Halloween!!! Such a wonderful day where we can dress up in the most fantastic outfits. Many of us will be out trick-or-treating with the tiniest members of our family, while others will be handing out candy (like myself!) or attending a spooktacular party with friends.

I decided to do my own version of Drunk J.Crew and thought the image above was a perfect candidate for the "Monster Mash" song. I have no doubt most of you will be hearing that song at some point today. ;)

As per usual with the {celebrating with J.Crew?} posts, it might be fun to have a post on what we plan on wearing today. :)

I plan on wearing J.Crew's Piazza Jacket (Item 81751), with a white button down, and a pair of Madewell Skinny Skinny Jeans. Pretty simple outfit made perfect thanks to this sweater jacket in orange. The Piazza Jacket really is the perfect go-to for Halloween. Not only is it gorgeous, it is the perfect layering piece to keep me warm.

What are you planning to wear this Halloween? Will you be trick-or-treating? Are you planning to go "head to toe" J.Crew or parts J.Crew?

Also, I am not sure how this is that different than the current promotion. When I stopped by my local B&M store yesterday, if felt like most full priced items were eligible for an additional 25% off. However, both are great promotions and I am happy to see them! :)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

Plus, Factory stores will be offering up to 50% off everything in store. Definitely worth a visit if you live nearby.

Will you be stopping at a J.Crew Factory store this weekend? If so, please share what the Mystery Sale Surprise is!

Additional 50% Off Final Sale at J.Crew Stores!

"Thanks!" to choctini (in this post) whol let us know that J.Crew brick & mortar stores are offering an additional 50% of their final sale merchandise.

I stopped by my local B&M and noticed the additional 50% off sale as well. I am going to assume most stores in the U.S. are running it.

This is an amazing deal. Definitely worth a visit to your local B&M to check stuff out.

Is your local store running this offer? Any items you interested in getting? Please share! :)

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals! {whoops! not really}

UPDATE: Looks like I made an error. I thought there were new arrivals because J.Crew updated the catalog section with the new November edition. However, there is no update with new merchandise at JCrew.com. Apologies for the confusion. :(

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The NOVEMBER catalog (click here to view) is finally up. As many JCAs have mentioned, this catalog has been in stores and delivered to customers' homes for awhile now.

As for the new arrivals... I am excited for this roll-out. Finally! There are so many items on my "want-list" this time around. Here are just a few...

The Chunky turtleneck sweater (item B5875; $118.00) is a classic staple. According to the description it is slightly boxy, so I may need to size down to get a better fit. Here's to hoping it is lovely in person as it is in the photos!

I am a sucker for the Crinkle check shirt (item B4821; $88.00). I love navy, checked, button down shirts. But who doesn't, amiright? :)

I really like the Painted stripe sweatshirt (item B7180; $68.00). It just seems so easy to wear.

Don't forget!
J.Crew is offering an additional 25% off select items (marked as so) and an additional 30% off final sale with promotional code STYLETREAT. This offer expires October 31, 2014.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)

J.Crew Factory Exclusive Early Access: Shop new arrivals before everyone else

"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared the following news/email from J.Crew Factory with us.

J.Crew Factory is offering a sneak peek at the latest arrivals with prices up to 40% off! They are also throwing in free shipping (no min!). Both these offers are just for today! So check your email to see if you got the invite and code.
 Factory Addie plaid loafers
Factory classic button-down elbow-patch shirt in flannel
Factory high-collar coat in colorblock

 Factory pom-pom cable-knit sweater
Factory tailored tweed blazer
(Is it just me, or is this a throw back to the Bella Jacket in Wool... YEAH!)

Factory tailored velvet blazer
(Is it just me, or does this remind you a bit of the Velvet Bella Jacket)

Factory wool-blend trench coat

There are a lot of things that are super nice at Factory! Specifically, I am thrilled to see the Bella-inspired Jackets. How amazing to see them back!?!

Have you received this email? Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? Any items you are interested in? If so, please share!

A Conversation with J.Crew's Jenna Lyons!

A big "thanks!" to Cheri who shared the following article from Wardrobe ICONS magazine (click here to read in its entirety) with us. Click on the images below to view larger (& make reading a bit easier):

I totally agree with Jenna's wardrobe staples. They were all good picks, especially about the need for a good chambray shirt. I find they work well dressed up or down, practically any scenario.

Although I am surprised that Jenna thinks neon pink is equal to heather grey. I am so tired of neon pink...

What are your thoughts on the article? Agree or disagree with any of Jenna Lyon's opinions? If so, please share! :)

I do like that there is a full priced promotion going on. Especially considering what Rose (in this post) mentioned in a comment this weekend: "New arrivals are supposed to be in on Monday." Wahoo! :)

Also, I am wondering if brick and mortar stores are reverting back from 40% to 30% off Final Sale. I have a feeling that B&M stores will keep 40% off sale until more merchandise moves. I know that all my local stores are still bursting at the seams with their sale section.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

The Great (Weekly) Exchange {looking to sell}

Please note: this posting is not for resellers, retailers or businesses. If you are a reseller, retailer, or a business, your comment gets automatically deleted & you will get publicly called out on it. :( So instead of this, simply do not post in the Weekly Exchanges. (Refer to "A Quick Note to J.Crew Aficionadas" post.)

Do you have any items you would like to swap/sell/share among yourselves through your outside listing/auction site?

Sidenote: What's up with JCAs writing "sub" or "subscribing" as their comment? It just means they are subscribing to all the comments (which are then automatically sent to their email) in that particular thread. This way they can stay aware of all the comments posted. :)

J.Crew's Mickey Drexler Talks about J.Crew

"Thanks!" to many of you, including J.Crew Guy in Canada, who let us know about a new interview with J.Crew's Mickey Drexler on Bloomberg business.

The video comes from Bloomberg (click here to watch). The following article is a summary from Racked (click here to read in its entirety):
J.Crew Poobah Mickey Drexler Finally Lets Us Into His Brain
By Adele Chapin
October 21, 2014

J.Crew's chairman and CEO Mickey Drexler answered tough questions about the current state of retail from Bloomberg Television anchor Stephanie Ruhle yesterday, and his comments offer insight into the inner workings of Drexler's brain and, perhaps, J.Crew's current strategy.

There is one direction Drexler says J.Crew definitely won't be pursuing, and that's activewear. He told Ruhle: "Well I'll tell you where we thought about being in, was the active professional kind of business, the yoga or the Under Armour kind of business, but we're not getting in because we don't have the expertise to do that. We're getting into businesses that we're going to be more aggressive about, more ambition about, and invest more, but we're pretty satisfied with the breadth of our products. And now it's a matter of the correct expansion, correct design involvement, and quality. And I say quality because that's really important."

So no J.Crew-branded yoga pants for the foreseeable future. Is it because the J.Crew realizes they can't do this better than Under Armour, as Drexler says? Maybe because J.Crew knows its shopper so well, and trendy athleisure wear doesn't fit into that vision. Or Drexler afraid of reaching into new product lines and overextending, after his experience at Gap.

Ruhle also wanted to know what Drexler thinks of fast fashion. For the record, Drexler likes Zara. He says of Zara: "If you want clothes that don't last a long time and you want to be of the moment and you want a designer look, from what I hear—I don't wear their clothes—you might go there. It's not going to be in your wardrobe a year from today. I think they know that. They're really good at what they do. We on the other hand make clothes that we want people to keep and never throw out.

And in an era where nearly every store is offering deals left and right, Drexler admires retailers who never go on sale. "I am so jealous of Louis Vuitton, okay?," he said. "And that's a 100, 200-year-old brand that has had high integrity for a couple of hundred years. You might add Chanel into that as the only perhaps other one out there and a few others."

Since the world is "over-stored" and "over-garmented," Drexler suggests, retailers have to differentiate their products and can't rely on price slashing—even if customers demand it. "I think the retailer has to have pride and integrity in what they do. And there are enough of us left out there, maybe much less who aren't playing the price game. It's what we do. It is hard, but nothing's ever been easy," he said.
Remember when J.Crew did carry a Yoga line? That was a long time ago. But I do tend to agree that is an area they should not focus on.

I also have to agree with Mickey on the following quote: "We're getting into businesses that we're going to be more aggressive about, ... And now it's a matter of the correct expansion, correct design involvement, and quality. And I say quality because that's really important." I think this is how J.Crew continues to be the J.Crew we all know and love. I think this last rollout, {fingers crossed}, is an example of them trying to get back on track.

By the way, you can just tell that Mickey Drexler really dislikes that J.Crew goes on sale. I hope no one tells him how fast some items get marked down! ;)

What are your thoughts on the article? Any points you agree or disagree with? Please share! :)

Drinking the Crewlade? Try Drunk J.Crew!

"Thanks!" to so many of you, including Gina, CMG, Robyn (in this post), as well as JSR (in this post), who let us know about a new blog on J.Crew: Drunk J.Crew.

According to the Daily Mail (click here to read in its entirety):
Had one too many, girls? New Tumblr blog pokes fun at J.Crew catalog - in which the 'edgy' models look drunk
October 17, 2014

An amusing Tumblr blog which pokes fun at J.Crew's current catalog shots has emerged, using real promotional photos in which all the models appear to be drunk.

Drunk J.Crew was created this week and displays ten photos taken from the retailer's website, with added misspelled captions that speak to the models' vacant, slack-jacked expressions.

'i jus haffa sit down for a second,' reads one, depicting a model who may have been going for 'disheveled chic' but looks more as if she's knocked back one too many strawpedos.

The Tumblr - brainchild of writer and actress Jen Ellison, based in Chicago - features other gems such as: 'Guys for real now it is burrito time,' and 'ono I drobbed it my gum.' ...
Too funny! J.Crew's catalogs, er um "Style Guides", are definitely perfect to add some additional {humorous} commentary. How many times have JCAs questioned a pose, open mouth, or vacant stare?! ;)

Have you checked out Drunk J.Crew? Do you love it!? ;)

J.Crew Updates Website with New Arrivals!

"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).

There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, as did the J.Crew Collection (click here).

The OCTOBER catalog (click here to view) is still up. However, the latest NOVEMBER catalog is not. As mentioned by several JCAs, J.Crew posted several images of the newest catalog over at Pinterest (click here to view).

As for the new arrivals... I am excited for this roll-out. Finally! There are so many items on my "want-list" this time around. Here are just a few...

The Buffalo check flannel shirt-jacket (item B4937; $118.00) is beautiful. Hoping it is as nice in person.

The Cambridge cable chunky turtleneck sweater (item B5281; $98.00) is what J.Crew is all about! The range of colors... gorgeous!!!

The Cece ballet flats (item 64408; $125.00) are back in both leather and in suede. I am thrilled over this!!!

The Chateau parka (item B3901; $365.00) is one of the most stunning coats I have seen from J.Crew. I love the hood with faux fur lining.

The Downing tote (item A4399; $168.00) in Cocoa is perfect for Fall. I love it!

The Majesty peacoat (item 49360; $298.00) now comes in more vivid hues. Amazing!

The Plaid tassel scarf (item B6447; $59.50) is the perfect accessory for this Winter. Another love for me!

Overall impression... Welcome back J.Crew, oh how I have missed you!!! :)

Don't forget! J.Crew is offering customers to take an extra 25% off select full priced items and an extra 30% off all Sale items (with some marked as an additional 50% off) with promo code TGIFALL. The offer expires October 26, 2014.

What items are you most excited about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you expecting a bigger roll-out? Also, did you receive the latest catalog? :)
