No returns or exchanges on final sale items.
J.Crew has a nice update to their Sale (click here to shop online) section online this morning. Lots of merchandise (1740+ for Women and 800+ for Men). As one would expect, things are selling out.

J.Crew thankfully realized that the only way to move this merchandise is with an additional percent off. Especially after the last 50% off, no one was buying that much without a promo. Although I am curious why they did 40% and not just 50%... In any case, happy to see it is back! :)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, please share!

  1. Super happy as well. I took advantage of the extra 40& off final sale and scored a Wintress Puffer in navy for $113.99. Thankfully I checked online super ealy in the morning as Im headed to work and caught the deal. I noticed that color options sold out fast.

  2. I purchased a dot tank swimsuit that wasn't on promo last time. It doesn't say final sale so I won't be kicking myself if it doesn't work out. I didn't even browse other things, I'm sticking to items I actually need.

  3. I was able to order the Navy Majesty Pea Coat in my size. What a great surprise to find it available this morning.

  4. Do stores match promo pricing on items? I want to get the floral baseball cap because it's $28 online with the promo, but don't want to pay shipping if I don't have to.

    1. FriendlyFemme - Most stores will match the online *price* as long as they can look it up/verify it.

As far as matching promo price + addtl % off, I'll speak for my stores only. None of them would match the promo price + promo discount. I always got a look from them like they saw the boogeyman behind me after I asked.

That said, if they were to put the cap into a cart & apply BIG40 to see that that code works on the promo item, perhaps they might match the price. I never bothered to do that with my stores because of the iniitial look + no I got and just ordered online.

If you do get to the store and they won't do it, you can ask them to set you up on the red phone and the cs rep will apply the promo for you. The store rep can ask for the shipping to be waived.

You might try calling customer service first to see if they will order it & waive shipping. If that doesn't work, call your store beore going in, esp if it's a little drive. I try to save time & gas beause sometimes I've spent way more than $5-$8 trying to save on shipping.

    2. Hi FriendlyFemme - IME, the store may match the promo pricing, but not the extra % off the promo price like online.

    3. My store will give me the promo price but they won't add the extra % off.

    4. I purchased a tee in-store recently, then realized after the fact that it was on sale online with a percent off. Way cheaper! I called CS, and they refunded the difference.

    5. when 50% off FS online only was going on, the b&m i went to honored promo price AND the additional 50% off (they were running 30% off sale at the time). they marked the transaction as FS though, which was fine by me. doesn't hurt to ask and/or contact CS.

  5. I was able to score the Buffalo Check Peacoat on pop back this morning. It was $167.99 after promo! Hope it ships!!!

  6. Snagged the Pixie Jodhpur pants this morning! Fingers crossed that they work out. At least they are not final sale, so I can return if they don't work out. Also ordered a pair of Goldsign jeans and the bar stripe tee in the silver - I have the gold stripe and wear it constantly, and I think the silver will be just as nice. Ouch, my wallet!!!

  7. got the andie chinos for $42! Ordered as soon as I got the email from jcrew so I wouldn't get shut out like last time. The website already appears to be a bit wonky - I had some difficulty placing my order, but just got the confirmation email.

  8. I added several things to my bag, and when I applied the BIG40 code, some items went to an extra 50% off instead of 40%! I tried it last night and this morning and it happened both times! So, maybe you will be pleasantly surprised when you go to check out! Good luck!

  10. So sad, only extra 40% final sale items.was hoping to score some more tippi's but the colors left aren't final sale so the code doesn't work :( after getting them 2 Monday for $22 i was hoping to snag a few more..oh well, and the stalking continues....oh and if anyone wants to trade an extra small tippi for a small in the hthr hydrangea let me know!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Poppyfish -

I'm wearing today my latest Tippi which I got in the 50% off promo. I'm too afraid to tally how many I have. The low prices make me think that JC is going to discontinue this sweater. I guess I have enough... :)

    1. I have 4 Tippis and 5 Charleys! I also got Tippis during the 50% promo, and I keep checking for even more today. You can never have enough! I sure hope they don't discontinue them!

      Delete
    2. never tried the charley, is that factory? same quality as tippi?

      Delete
    3. cousy,
me too. i got the deep riviera which looks so different than on the computer, more of a peacock color.
it was really weird-i ordered 2 on monday, 1 came tuesday and the other still hasn't been delivered, it got stuck in some weird weather issue in PA? sigh

      Delete
    4. Yes, Charley is the Factory equivalent of Tippi. I was able to get a couple on promo for about $21 each. The fabric is slightly different from Tippi, but the fit is similar and I think they're still really good quality. They had some great colors earlier in the season too! Nothing is quite as exciting as getting Tippis for $22, but Charley is definitely worth checking out!

      Delete
    5. I bought my first Charley in grey last December and it fits well. You can't tell the difference between the retail and factory versions. Also, the same goes for the Clare which is the equvialent of the Jackie. Fits the same and very, very similiar materials but inexpensive. I'm really happy with my Charley and Clare cardigans. I just washed my Charley in the Laundress and it looks even better!

      Delete
    6. Poppyfish - I got the Deep Riviera too! I really like the color.

  12. Bought some blue Macalisters and a robot toy for my kids. I was surprised to see the blue Macalisters made it to popback status since they have been sold out for a while. If anyone wears size 8 women's and likes Macalisters, they are a deal at $42 in the Crewcuts section. Just order size k7 (although we may have gotten the last pair).

  13. Took advantage and used a left-over gift card - thank you MIL.
Picked up a few things - wool skirt, tights, boy shirt.
My thought on 40% vs. 50% - margin management.

    4. I have many of the pencil skirts from previous seasons and find this year's version fits the same. They are different with the extra seaming, but the fit is the same.

      Delete
    5. frugral prepster - Rynetta reviewed the skirt , but didn't post pics. She said it made her look like a mermaid. The seaming they added sounds like the Factory version, which I reviewed here. I pointed out the seaming in the 5th pic.

    6. I was able to try on today in store. Really in between sizes-2 too tight in hips, 4 too loose in waist, and too long. Thinking of ordering a 4P and seeing what that does.

  18. All my coats ended up shipping, and I am sad to say I love ALL of them (lol), so I only ordered the striped painter tee in Pinot since it popped back, plus a tee for my son. I wish I had noticed that the navy schoolboy was included in the sale. I've been wanting one forever, and a black one too. Hmph.

Ema Instagrammed a store pic of a new Collection floral blouse.

Marielarue7 shared a pic of the Crewlet humminbird pencil skirt.

"The Cleo is a new style of smoking slipper with a wooden heel (whereas the Darby has virtually none), a lower vamp on the top of the shoe, and a more pointed toe. I tried the Cleo and I prefer my Darby's!"

    2. Thanks for the hummingbird update, Gigi! I'd been scouring Crewlet for it, and didn't realize it's there under botanical bird. Just ordered the pencil skirt and the shorts (had to talk myself out of the skimmer pants as well) - I want everything in this print!

      Delete
    3. Note about the hummingbird print. That's what it was called in retail, but the birds on the Crewlet botanical are parrots.

      Delete
    4. The birds in the retail collection version (I have the café capris) are parrots too. Not a hummingbird to be found :).

      Delete
    5. Someone get Jenna a book on what birds look like!

      Delete
    6. saw the hummingbird skirt at the outlet today, was disappointed that there was no lining to the skirt (maybe I had high expectations?) - I wouldn't pay $50 for an unlined cotton skirt :(

      Delete
    7. I agree snowbrdgrl, I drove to my factory store at lunch time to try on the skirt. Sizing at factory for me is still off, I am in between 2 and 4. I actually had the iphone cover with me, that was more of a subtle blue/grey, not sure if the retail skirt was the same. The skirt was a much brighter blue but without lining not a good look for me. Not impressed with any of the factory items I tried on. My only other comment is, I did not think parrots were the same size as butterflies, so I kinda think they are hummingbirds but I don't think J Crew is that exact. I have read too many comments on their language Tees to know they don't pay attention to details.

      Delete
    8. Thanks for the shout-out Gigi! I really liked the skirt on, but I agree that some lining would have been nice. I think that given the cost of the original retail pieces, however, this is a great alternative if you are a fan of the print.

  20. Got a crewcuts cotton cashmere sweater, a crewcuts Star Wars tee, twill pixies, the double crepe fluted skirt and a Saint James minquier. Yay on the skirt, since I've been eyeing it for the past few days after reading reviews, and triple yay on the Saint James since they've been excluded from promo codes for a long time now or only the SJ s/s tees were discounted. Boo on the pixies b/c the website kept crashing every time I tried to choose a petite size, so I ended up ordering the regular length. And confused about the Star Wars tee, since I tried to order the size 14 a week ago during the 50% promo but was told it was sold out so I got the 12 instead, and today I was able to order the 14. Here's hoping everything ships!

  21. I purchased my second Emmaleigh dress...with the promo plus 40% off it nets just $88.80...such a steal for a Super 120s dress! The seaming around the waist is so flattering, it looks great on it's own, or with a cardi or jacket. The classic colors go on sale so rarely...if you are on the fence, I definitely recommend it at this price.

  22. Only one of the four items I ordered this morning was FS - the Liberty embroidered bib peasant top in Aaron paisley, but the price was good and only two sizes were available at the time of the order. If there's ANYTHING wrong with it I'll request a return. The other items are some accessories I plan to give as gifts.

BTW, I placed an order on a few sale items that popped back up this past Wednesday, and today a super pleasant CS rep adjusted the price for me!

  23. I purchased the downtown field jacket in store today with the 25% off promo. I was told it never really goes on sale. Since looking around on the Internet, it seems like people have gotten for cheaper. With the discount it came out about 111. Seems steep to me since in the past I've gotten thinsulate lined wool coats for that price from JC.

    1. Cassandra Jupiter - When the dowtown field was first released, it went on sale for something crazy like a net $56. I think it became popular because of women finally buying it at that price and it's never been that low since. It has been at 25% or 30% off the regular price on promos, but has not gotten marked down again that I recall.

FWIW, I have completely gotten the cost/wear out of mine over the past 3 years. It's a jacket that I've never considered for sell or giveaway. As far as adding warmth, the excursion vest layers under as Lisa/Respect the Shoes shared awhile back. Can't find her pic right now, but it definitely works. Anyway, the downtown field is a great layering jacket and then if you have to remove it, it's not super heavy to carry around.

  28. Does anyone have any recommendations on sizing for either the Lady Day coat or the Metro coat? I'm usually a 00P in blazers and pencil skirts and an XSP in tops (although I usually have to size up for pants). Also, what are the changes that there will be a popback of the Lady Day coat in a 00P/0P? At 5'2", is it possible for me to go for the regular sizing?

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Sophia Jih, I would recommend sizing up one in the Lady Day coat as I found the top portion to be quite fitted in the shoulders. I'm consistently a 0P in Jcrew's blazers and pencil skirts (but a 00P in the minnies) and an XXS in tops, but had to size up to a 0 in the Lady Day (I'm just under 5'1"). Maybe try for the regular 00 or a 0P?

      Delete
    2. I am 5'3" and consistently a size 2 in shirts and the schoolboy blazer. I recently ordered a 2 and a 4p in the lady day coat and found that the 4p fit me better. The 2 seemed a little snug and the sleeves were way too long. The 4p had just a smidge more room and I can layer over it. Plus the sleeves were perfect. I believe that the measurements for a 2 regular and the 4p are the same on the size chart so if you are usually a 0, I would get a 2p if it is available. It is a beautiful coat! I didn't try the metro.

      Delete
    3. Agree with both comments; I am 5' 2.5" and the 4P fits better than the 2 in every way except that the shoulders are more constricting in the 4P. That said, I have broad shoulders for my height (years of swimming); still, I prefer the 4P to the 2. It's a fitted coat, very flattering and timeless. If it's final sale I would probably hold out until a 00/0P comes along, but if not, a 0/2P might be worth trying.

  32. So I had some thing in my cart last night and debating placing the order. There were a few other things I wanted and thought perhaps they would pop back this morning so I would wait. 36. After adhering to my ban of JC coats this winter (first ever in about 10 years) I went a little overboard with the recent sales. Got the military parka in both green and blue in a SP; love both, great for my casual life as a SAHM. Also picked up the majesty peacoat -- I never jumped on this in spite of the JCA love over the past year or two because in general I don't like double breasted coats, but I got the charcoal in a 4P in the 50% off sale and love it, so just got the berry and the mineral in 4P during this 40% off. I wish I had a set of revolving closet doors like the bedroom doors in Monsters Inc. -- endless storage without taking any space -- can you imagine?

  45. Bought the field boots in Kipling with the Love 25% off at the end of the night in the promos final hours and woke up in the morning to see the Big 40. Was not impressed so called customer service and asked them to honour the 40 off instead. Not sure if a mistake or what but somehow ended up with those boots going from 232 with 25% of too 98$. Not sure how the math worked on that one cause that's more than 50 off. Also bought the regular price Swarovski bracelet that night with the 25 off and somehow after my phonecall that got changed from 118 to 88 and then down to 56$ and it's not even a final sale item. Don't understand it but thanks jcrew! I promise not to vent about you for a while! ;-)

  46. Any thoughts on the wool flannel jeweled falsetto pumps? With the extra 40% off, my rewards card and a gift card, I could get them for $79 bucks. Worth it? This is my first getaway hoodie and I hope I like it. I have two of the zip ups and they feel too sporty for how I dress during the week. Anyone have the getaway hoodie?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I didn't keep it but I tried it. It's nice, long and lean, I thought more so than the front zip cashmere hoodie. I bought size medium in the front zip but large was the right size in the getaway hoodie. My mid-section is my trouble spot, though, so that's why I liked the size up in the getaway. I returned it because I didn't like its lack of versatility. I felt like the front zip hoodie did the same job but also gave me the option of wearing it open. I got the same casual vibe from both styles. In any case, I think you will probably like it if you like the front zip one but want one without a zipper.

    2. I have multiples of the cashmere getaway hoodie that I have picked up every year during sales. I stopped buying the zip-up when they introduced this style since I do not like zippers and prefer the less sporty look of the getaway. I love them layered over my perfect-fit tanks. I bought the warm redwood on sale two days ago but now I see it's back to full-price. Hope you love yours as well.

    3. Thank you both so much. I'm really excited to get it now! I like the long, lean aspect. I think it looks casual but chic. I'm reminded of The Row's collections for some reason. I am going to be keeping it rolled up in my tote for when it suddenly gets cool and windy in San Francisco. I think it will go with most of my M-F outfits. Thanks again!

  49. I'm a bit irked. I just noticed that the 40% off is in store as well. When I went to a store yesterday it was 30%. I assumed 40% off was online only but looking at the promo again it's in store as well. The extra 10% would have saved me another $20. What have others been seeing in stores?

    1. Portland was 40% on Friday. Can you email CS or have a price adjustment? $20 is $20!

    2. In-store Final Sale % can vary by store. I went to two B&Ms in one day (lot of errand running that Saturday) and saw 40% in one store and 30% in another. Unsure of the decision-making process for that.

  50. Got a couple of not final sale items like stripe sleeve tee in pack green, campbell capri in abstract wave print, minnie in beechwood, and the final sale zip-back stripe shirt. I really hope the final sale item works out. It looks pretty good on gigi and chassity (looklingerlove).

Everything added up to just over 150 but I realized I actually paid 8$ shipping after I placed my order last night. So I emailed JCrew right away and they fixed it when I woke up.

A couple of women's Ludlow jackets are on promo as well. They look pretty interesting for work. I wish J.Crew would do more interesting A-line minis like different textures fabrics prints etc and more red shoes.

  52. This is a little off topic, but I'm looking at some Janey flats on eBay. I wear an 8 in the Cece's, but I've never tried the Janeys on. Should I get the same size? Thanks.

    1. I went up half a size in the Janey flats.

    2. I wear my regular size in the Janeys. I never wear my Ceces so it's hard to compare. How do your Ceces fit you? Mine are half size down and are uncomfortable at the wide part of my foot (which is pretty wide).

    3. I've tried on a pair of Ceces and they never fit me right. I sized up and it feels off. So I had to pass on them even though they would have been $50 back in December.

    4. I have a narrower foot but all my J Crew shoes have been a solid 8- I have leather Cece's (no suede so not sure on those), Janey's, and Kiki's for the ballet flat look.

    5. I think I will go ahead and get the 8s. Better a little too big than too small! Thanks everyone.

    6. Denée - FWIW - I took the same size in the Ceces and Janeys. Good luck :)

    7. Not to confuse you, but I'm an 8 in Ceces also and found an 8 in the Janey to be too large. But to be fair, I did not try on a 7.5 to see if they would be too snug. Hijacking your post, I'm wondering what I would wear in the Bijoux bow flat if I'm an 8 in Ceces too. The problems that come with being a fanatic of one particular style!

  53. Factory - I bought exactly one thing at the 50% off in-store sale. It's the sweatshirt dress, reviewed here, along with the indigo popover and season linen/cotton pants.

  54. I would love to jump on the field boots in black, if anyone spots a size 6 in stores. My VPS says they are sold out in that size, company wide, but I keep hoping that a pair might pop up somewhere! If so, please drop me an email: leahklevar@gmail.com

    Thanks!

  55. Schoolboy jackets were just reduced this morning. I was waiting on the blue color. Loved to get it with the 40% off!!

  56. Has anyone tried the emma flats yet? I have to size up from my normal size in the cece, so wondering if I should do the same with the emma or if they are tts. Thanks!
