Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the WINTER sale, or to see some new SPRING arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I think for once I'm so happy there isn't a promo going on. I snagged so much stuff during their Presidents' Day weekend special. And it just arrived today. Be on the look out for outfit posts with my new pieces on the blog.

  3. I peeked in at my shop and saw a moderate sale rack- 30% off, and some of the pieces from the new catalog. I put up a few favorites from the March catalog on my blog. The new pieces are really making me stay away from sale. I love some of the new heels and shirts, so I am saving up!

  4. I picked up the catalog and scanned most of women's section and sent a copy to Alexis since I don't have a blog to post. Thought the collection Skunk print was interesting!!

  5. Got a bunch of returns, picking up the peony tee that my VPS put aside for me and checking out the new arrivals. I hear there's some cute stuff... And to grab a New catalog if they have them.

  6. Went to store here yesterday. Picked up the peony tee, heathered turquoise merino tippi, and the medallion sera top. I have a great VPS there, who gave me a catalog - can't wait to see the online roll out next week (according to my online VPS, next Wednesday, 27th. Lots of pretty things coming - several new items in the pretty blue hummingbird print!!

    1. It looks like the online rollout may have happened already. The peony sweatshirt and all the hummingbird print things are online this am.

    2. Hi Suzy, what kinds of items did you see in the hummingbird print? Anything more accessible/versatile like a scarf or a skirt?

    3. Oops, just spotted the No. 2 skirt in hummingbird print in the March catalog that Alexis just posted!

  7. Planning to head in today and make a return. I don't expect to pick up anything today though....although I do want to view some of the new Tippi colors in person.

  8. Doing some returns today. Huge update in sale section, (women over 1000 items) lots of bags, outerwear, even excursion vests. No idea where all this stock is coming from.

  9. I haven't been to the store for a long time but maybe I will stop by this weekend to take a peek and maybe return a medalion pleated skirt. I recently received it and it is OK but nothing special, I reviewed it HERE along with silk crepe tee in navy.

  10. Not sure where to post this, but looking for some help. My love yesterday was the Cocoon Coat in Dublin Green I was able to get at my local store. I had strong suspicions the coat was cheaper online but the color wasn't showing so the SA wasn't able to match. Of course, this morning it pops back online. The price differential is about $45 (because of the extra 30% in store). I am not sure there is anything to be done. Should I just let this go? After all, the pricing games are enough to make one crazy!

  11. Can anyone tell me if there's an extra percent off sale in store anymore? Thanks:)

  12. rcb.shops: When a sale item is not showing up online, have the SA call on the phone to confirm the last online price. I've done this three times in the past month and they were totally able to tell the last sale price of a sold out item. Hope this helps in the future; I don't know if there is anything to be done about a purchase already made.

  13. If any of you ladies live in a super cold climate (for example, Chicago), have you found that the double cloth + thinsulate coats are warm enough?

I'm warm enough with the stadium cloth coats, but I'm looking at the metro coat, which is final sale, and I'm worried I'll be cold.

    1. I have two NON-thinsulate double cloth coats and they've been warm enough for me in the past several Boston winters. But maybe that's just me...

    2. Rosie: I think you're a braver lady than I am, haha.

    3. I have the double cloth funnel cloth with no thinsulate and I can wear it in 40 degree weather. I'm in NYC. Usually when it is 30's and below, I reach for my down jackets.

      Delete
    4. I've worn my lady day double cloth with thinsulate down into the 30's and been ok with a warm sweater underneath, but once it drops below freezing it isn't warm enough walking to the office in downtown Chicago, and it doesn't protect much from the wind.

      Delete
    5. I used to live in NYC and now live in Rochester, NY (where the snow abounds) and I personally don't think the double cloth + thinsulate is warm enough for those super cold days. DEFINITELY not as warm as the stadium cloth coats IMO. I wear my stadium cloth coats regularly here in Rochester, but I distinctly remember days when I'd be shivering in my lady day coats even with scarf and hat and gloves. The double cloth with thinsulate is way heavier but not as warm as stadium cloth IMO. However, it is nice enough (and pretty enough!!) to wear on those days when it hits 40+!

    6. Thanks ladies. I'm passed on the coat.

Linds: That was exactly what I was afraid of. I guess I'll look for another stadium cloth coat. It's plenty warm for me walking downtown when it drops below freezing...although nothing will make you warm once it's in the single digits!

    7. Must be my Russian blood that keeps me warm! Below 10, I must switch to down, but double cloth is fine till then.

The other thing I swear by is the JCrew shearling gloves. My hands have rarely been cold in them.

  14. Thanks, shopalot. I should have had her take that extra step (I kind of knew that was an option but got swept up in the moment). Anyway, lesson learned. And, it's enough money out the window to go off the crewlade for awhile. That's probably a good thing.

BTW, if anyone is eyeing that peony sweatshirt, I bought it and it is HUGE and boxy. Definitely size down. I did not find it flattering at all (size issues combined with the bright white sweatshirt material), and much prefer the peony t-shirt.

  15. So the scroll print short popped back on sale...but final sale ugh! How do is the sizing? I’m a 6 in chino shorts if that helps. I may stalk popbacks.

    1. i saw some of the scroll print shorts at short hills mall (NJ) location. i don't know how the sizing is tho.

  16. Hollsoll129 30% off sale is still going on instore.
Popped in my b&m for a minute and tried on a few things.
Love the liberty tresco shirt and took my usual perfect shirt size 6.
Tried the reverse jacquard stripe popover in bright seaside. My usual s felt a little small over a thin blouse but I love the weave. Great price since it looks more like a sweater than a tee.
Tried 2 things not online. Sorry I didn't get item #s.
A cute short sleeve navy and Kelly green stripe sweater with pretty rhinestone jewels around the neck. Love it in a s fits great but it is wool. Maybe not for summer.
Also tried a mint, navy and tan cardigan sweater in a loose weave (linen?) Very cute when I sized up to a m since cropped and cut small.

  17. Went to a Factory store this morning. Prices are generally better in store, depending upon whether you have an online coupon code or not ;) Also, if you go, be sure you check your receipt as some things were not ringing up with the same discount as they were tagged with. The staff at my store is great - they credited me back the difference with no hassle (which they should do, I know, but sometimes don't) and they also applied the 20% coupon, even though I left mine in the car - I just mentioned it at the counter and they used the barcode they had. Some pricing notes (final price reflects the additional 20% off in-store coupon) -

The biggest price difference that I made note of was for the Scalloped Shift Dress - it's $148 online, but it was marked down to $98 in store and it was in the clearance section, so it was an additional 30% off and then with the 20% coupon = $54.88 I didn't try it on, but I held it up to me and it seemed a bit high-waisted and short in general.

Skimmer Pants - printed & solids are 50% in store, so $23.80 for the solids (41.50 online) I took my usual skimmer/cafe capri size. The dot-dot-dash ones are a really great fabric, but they are too bright an orange for me!

Factory Pleated Shift Dress - 30% off (although most of the other dresses were tagged 40% off), $54.80 (79.50 on line). On-line there is a navy version, my store had it in a lighter, more purple color, no navy. I took a 0, I'm usually a 2 in dresses like this (like last year's Lucille), so it may be running a bit big?

Sleeveless Beach Dress - this was ringing up with only 20% off (38.08 after all discounts), but it was tagged 40% and they honored that, so it was $28.56 (41.05 online) but YMMV. I thought this dress was adorable - it's a heavy slubbed cotton and it has pockets(!), I took my usual size and it's a bit slouchy, but I think that's the look and I liked it that way.

Pencil Skirts in Double-Serge Cotton - I'm pretty sure my store had a couple of prints that aren't showing up online, sorry, I was focusing on getting a plain black one that I needed. This was ringing up 30% off ($42) but was tagged 40% so I paid $36 (44.50 online). I love these skirts - the pockets, the shorter length, the material - I actually prefer them to retail.

Cotton V-neck sweaters - 40% off, so $21.60 (29.50 online), took my usual Tippi/JC sweater size in this.

Chambray Top - 30% off, so $43.68 ($74.50 online) I had to really size down in this one to a 00, which I never am because I can't get my arms/shoulders into this size normally. But I love this top!

Charley Sweater in Scattered Anchor - I didn't see any discount signage around this sweater, I didn't buy it either, so I don't know for sure. I did try it on in my usual Tippi/Charley size and it was big. It is also a printed sweater so as is often the case with this technique, the dye didn't take evenly, especially around the seams, so there are lighter areas. It was also pretty thin. Not feeling it.

Factory Circle Eyelet Tee - It fit TTS, pricing was 20% off, so 37.12 (40.50 online), it's a bit short, I thought

Printed Cardigans had signage that said 40% off, which is better than online, but I didn't buy any, so I'm not sure if they are ringing up that way or not.

I saw the pleated printed skirts in dots and stripes, but they looked like cheap poly, IMO, and I didn't like them enough to try on.

I think that's everything :0) but let me know if you have questions on a particular item not mentioned...

  18. I got the wool felted mini skirt during 40% off promo and it arrived today, I got it in the Heritage Green color and it's a gorgeous shade of green. I wanted a fun skirt to wear for St Pattys and at $17.99 with free shipping it was perfect. The color online looks a little drab but in real life it's almost like a darker version of the Retro Jade, very pretty and vibrant.

    1. +1 katertott. The shade is so much different online. The only reason I went back to it was after I perused the style guide again and noticed a much more vibrant and saturated green. I love it. I sized up though. I think it fits a little smaller than the no 2 pencils.

  21. Went by a store this morning (Tysons Corner VA) and they still had 30% off sale and they also were offering 25% off handbags which, according to the sales associate, never happens! I was just going to exchange something but I did buy the Tortoise Link Bracelet. I've been eyeing that since it came out and noticed that it got marked down yesterday (from $58 to $39.99). They matched the online price for me and gave me 30% off! So, I got it for $27.99!!

  23. Review of the tipped boy shirt in this post. The navy is still on promo online $98 and $79.99 in-store. The addtl 30% off final sale is still going on in-store.
